  • Elan Smart Pad - empty settings window

    I am using my Asus UL30JT with Windows 8. I installed Elan Smart-pad driver 11.14.1.3. It basically works just fine, I have all the gestures and stuff. However, to adjust the settings I have to launch regedit.exe, because the window appears to be broken. Under Mouse - Elan Tab - Options I see this: Do you know how to fix that? Also, if you have a similar program, can you at least send me screens of what I can change? As I said, I am editing registry right now and I need some guidance what I can actually do :)

  • Tcp window size won't go above 130048

    I have 2 servers set up with about 80ms latency between them. Both are centos 6 and run a java app that transfers data from on location to another. Both are on 1gbps connections. I have been trying different sysctl settings and different send & receive buffer settings in java but no matter what I set them to, I cannot get the tcp window size to go above 130048 in the tcp dumps. This equates to roughly 13mbps which is the actual throughput I am getting.

  • How to close buffer without closing the window?

    I usually open a few windows and keep some buffers open. Since my MO in buffer exploring is to use quick shortcuts to :bn and :bp, I want to close unneeded buffers from distracting my buffer surfing. But the pain is, issuing :bd and :bw results in closing the window as well, in case I have multiple ones open. How do I close (delete) a buffer and leave the windows intact? Solution inspired by @peth's answer :command! BW :bn|:bd# It is simple. Doesn't work well with only one buffer open (I get different behaviour depending on the way I open the files) but it isn't a big issue. :)

  • Visual Studio 2012 window border leaks onto other screen

    I have several 30" monitors and as a result, I use the Win+Left/Right to tile windows to the left and right side of each screen. I've noticed an annoying feature of Visual Studio 2012 is that it seems to "leak" onto the next screen. I can see a line on the adjacent screen as if the edge of the window is slightly over the border. Anyone else see this? Is it a bug? This is on Windows 7 64 bit. I've never seen this with any other application.

    I'm running Vista Home Premium 32-Bit, though I doubt that matters, in this case. So, how do you set the default windows size/positions? Is there a registry tweak for this? Going to Tools->Folder Options...->View Apply to Folders or Reset Folders doesn't work. So, whenever I open a new window to a random new folder I haven't opened before, I don't want it to take 75% of the screen. Is there any way I could make it open smaller? (So it opens correctly the first time.)

    I have a problem with the Windows Security popup below. It pops up every time the system tries to make connection with any internet source. It's very annoying, and I don't know how to resolve the problem. (The popup window below is in Dutch, but says something like Connect to somedomain.com. Then it expects you to give your credentials.) I am running on a Windows 7 x64 OS. Now how do I solve this problem? Is it a Windows Firewall problem?

[%h]%?" hardstatus alwayslastline "%-Lw%{= BW}%50>%n%f* %t%{-}%+Lw%<" When I start screen, it opens all three windows, but as soon as I try to switch to window 2, it closes immediately. I would assume there is a problem with the shell and it exits instantly, but I can't find anything wrong with it. I have tried using quotation marks around the path and the entire command, which only leads to "file not found" errors. The command works just fine when I enter it directly into a shell. The screen version is: Screen version 4.00.02 (FAU) 5-Dec-03 Help?

  • Hyperlinks in Windows Update window not working?!

    The actual links in the Windows Update window to open the relevant knowledge base article have stopped working. They still look like links, but they just don't do anything anymore?! This started happening (or not happening!) during the last Windows Update (around 2010-10-23). At the time I believe the first link worked OK and all subsequent links did not!? In the recent Windows Update (today) no links work. I can copy and paste the text of the link into the browser and OK. Web-like links from all other applications work OK. Dec 2010 - Windows Update links still do not work. I guess this must be something specific to my machine as I've not seen it reported anywhere else?!

  • Maximize window in one display

    I'm using an NVIDIA Quadra FX 1700 card and have a dual monitor system. I want to maximize a window so that it is maximized in one monitor not across both monitors but I don't seem to have that as an option. Right now I just minimize & expand it so it fills one monitor at a time. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows XP Professional on a desktop. Maybe it's not possible since it seems that both monitors are connected to the graphics card and Windows only sees one monitor.

I am try to ssh into a remote machine where I have an account but I always get Connection refused. But from the desktop computer in my office using the same PUTTY I could ssh to remote machine.   • Mouse and keyboard focus problem

    I have two Chrome windows side by side. I click a link in window#1, ok. Now I want to switch to window#2 and click anywhere in the window. Noting happens. Sometimes the cursor switch to make-bigger-window style. If I click in the top part of current window. And then in the top part of next window I can switch focus so the other window works. Another problem is that the keyboard focus can get stuck in one window. I can click on things in one window but when using the keyboard it will change the first window. Only by closing the window that has the focus, it will release keyboard. What is this madness? Another problem not related is that sometimes I get logged out. Just like that.

    I'm trying to get a UserControl to tab properly and am baffled. Nothing else apart from the controls displayed has TabIndex or FocusManager properties set. I'm banging my head against a brick wall and I must be missing something.   • Windows 7 explorer always crashes, opens small "Personalized Settings" window

    My Windows 7 desktop PC, built by me, started acting very weird in the last couple of days. I use it quite often, about half of the time through TeamViewer. Explorer would crash and restart randomly, almost always through TeamViewer. This made me suspect that TeamViewer was the problem but I have reproduced it with and without TeamViewer several times. The only way I can seem to get the problem not to occur is by booting into Safe Mode. I have used CCleaner and Malwarebytes to make sure it wasn't a registry error or malware causing the problem, and I have tried the fix in the seemly related issue here as well every other fix I have found online including removing security updates KB980408 and KB2926765 as well as using "sfc /scannow" and a bunch of other things I can't remember. More recently when I try to start explorer it is popping up a small window that says "Personalized Settings" on the top, but is completely empty and crashes instantly. The only way I can get it to disappear is to kill the explorer.exe process. I wish I could take a screenshot but I can't seem to open paint or even find the exe. I have tried restarting it, I have tried starting it while the personalized settings window was open. I have come up with two lists of processes the first is the list of active processes when I boot into safe mode and explorer seems to work fine. The second is the list of processes that I can narrow it down to in normal boot and still replicate the problem. There is one process that I can't seem to close. NisSrv.exe which is describes as "Microsoft Network Realtime Inspection Service". When I try to close the process NisSrv.exe it says "The operation could not be completed. Access is denied." When I try to close the related service it gives the same message. Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. My explorer tab in Autoruns seen below along with the error when I try to uncheck something. I should add that I seem to be able to disable shell extensions with ShellExView but I still can't get explorer to start correctly. EXPLORER SHELL UPDATE - See screenshot below I can access the explorer right click menu through a file manager I downloaded called NexusFile, but still no luck starting explorer. Another round of errors that I am getting regarding Windows Search Service The search service has detected corrupted data files in the index {id=4700}. Before, I would accomplish this with a combination EnumWindows, EnumChildWindows and GetWindowText. But now, some newer programs no longer have toolbar with buttons on it. Instead, they have a ribbon. This didn't seem like much of a problem to me at first, but now I notice that the buttons on the ribbon don't show up in EnumChildWindows! Or at least GetWindowText does not return the same text as the one seen on the screen. So to make a long story short: Can anybody tell me how I can programatically find the handle of a button on a ribbon? Thanks. Regards, ldx

  • ScrollBall press events while screen is off on an Android device.

    I'm writing a quick music player for myself on my Nexus One and really want to add the feature of being able to switch to the next song without removing it from it's case, ie. by pressing the scrollball through the sleeve. I've scoured many resources and... Haven't found a decently easy way to listen to key press events while the screen is off. Can't seem to even get scrollball press events to work. I've tried using a broadcastreciever listening for the Dpad_center intent, but it doesn't seem to function properly. I'm not looking for someone to write the code for me, but if you have successfully done either of these things, any insight on techniques or resources would be amazing. Thanks in advance!
