  I'm trying to connect to a webservice https protected through a webservice client. Eclipse generated a stub based webservice client and looks nice to me. • Why is it so difficult to get a working IDE for Scala?

  I recently gave up trying to use Scala in Eclipse (basic stuff like completion doesn't work). So now I'm trying IntelliJ. I'm not getting very far. This was the original error. See below for update: Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar I tried both versions 2.7.6 and 2.8 RC1 of scala-*.jar, the result was the same. JDK is 1.6.u20. UPDATE Today I uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. • How to use Scala in IntelliJ IDEA (or: why is it so difficult to get a working IDE for Scala)?

I've been able to edit programs (within syntax highlighting and completion... yay!). But I'm unable to run even the simplest "Hello World". • Alternatives to Java for Android development?

  Hey all, I've started developing Android apps a couple of months ago, and have a few under my belt. While I can tolerate Java enough to keep developing, I was wondering what success the community has had getting other languages to run. I've done some investigation as to how other JVM languages work, and it appears Dalvik messes them up pretty hard. Clojure seems unable to run, Scala seems to be one of the most successful. JRuby has also had some luck, but they caution against anything major. I've also checked out Scheme via Moby and Kawa, both of which seem to have some promise. What luck have any of you had? Languages I'm missing, misrepresenting? Any non-"Hello World" apps you've written in non-Java? Any snags in trying to get another language to run (e.g. "as long as you don't use continuations, you're fine in X Scheme"). Any particular snags in developing apps non-Java, once you get them to run? Thanks, hope you well ^_^

  Im attempting to make use of dependency injection in Jboss AS 7 and im having huge difficulties. I have setup a EAR which contains both a EJB jar and a war. • jvm version for Websphere 6.1.0.23on Solaris

  Hi I'm at big financial institute and we've an application running on Websphere 6.1. on Solaris. Due to MQ Connectivity we had to install fixpack 6.1.0.23. Unfortunately this broke an ejb (1.1) which is still there as legacy (Test missed it). UPDATE Today uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. • Jquery getJSON() doesn't work when trying to get data from java server on localhost

  The whole day yesterday I've been trying to solve this but it's proven to be very challenging for me. I'm trying to use this JS to get information from a java application I wrote. $(document).ready(function() { $.getJSON('http://localhost/custest?callback=?', function(json) { alert('OK'); $('.result').html(json.description); }); }); The Java application uses httpServer and is very basic. When I access the page 'http://localhost/custest?callback=?' with Firefox, the browser shows me the server is sending me json data and asks with what to open it with, but when I try it from a webpage using the JS above it doesn't work. The getJSON call is not successful, the alert("ok") doesn't popup at all. If it replace "http://localhost/custest?callback=?" in the JS with "http://twitter.com/users/usejquery.json?callback=?" everything works fine. An interesting thing is that if I send malformed JSON from my java server Firebug gives an error and tells me what is missing from the JSON so that mean the browser is receiving the JSON data, but when I send it correct a JSON string nothing happens, no errors, not even the alert() opens. • Usage of putty in command line from Hudson

  Hi, I'm trying to use putty in command line from an hudson job. The command is the following one: putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USERNAME@SERVER_ADDR -pw PASS -m command.txt Where 'command.txt' is a shell script to execute in the server through SSH. If i launch this command from the Window command prompt, it works, the shell script is executed on the server machine. If i launch a build of the hudson job configured with this batch command, it doesn't work. The build is running... and running... and running.. without doing anything, and i have to stop it manually. So my question is: Is it possible to launch an external programm (i.e. putty) from an hudson job ? ps: i tried SSH plugin but... not a really good plugin (pre/post build, fail status of the commands launched not caught by hudson, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help. • JUDCon 2013 Trip Report

  JUDCon (JBoss Users and Developers Conference) 2013 was held in historic Boston on June 9-11 at the Hynes Convention Center. JUDCon is the largest get together for the JBoss community, has gone global in recent years but has it's roots in Boston. The JBoss folks graciously accepted a Java EE 7 talk from me and actually referenced my talk in their own sessions. I am proud to say this is my third time speaking at JUDCon/the Red Hat Summit over the years (this was the first time on behalf of Oracle). I had great company with many of the rock stars of the JBoss ecosystem speaking such as Lincoln Baxter, Jay Balunas, Gavin King, Mark Proctor, Andrew Lee Rubinger, Emmanuel Bernard and Pete Muir. Notably missing from JUDCon were Bill Burke, Burr Sutter, Aslak Knutsen and Dan Allen. Topics included Java EE, Forge, Arquillian, AeroGear, OpenShift, WildFly, Errai/GWT, NoSQL, Drools, jBPM, OpenJDK, Apache Camel and JBoss Tools/Eclipse. My session titled "JavaEE.Next(): Java EE 7, 8, and Beyond" went very well and it was a full house. This is our main talk covering the changes in JMS 2, the Java API for WebSocket (JSR 356), the Java API for JSON Processing (JSON-P), JAX-RS 2, JPA 2.1, JTA 1.2, JSF 2.2, Java Batch, Bean Validation 1.1, Java EE Concurrency and the rest of the APIs in Java EE 7. I also briefly talked about the possibilities for Java EE 8. The slides for the talk are here: JavaEE.Next(): Java EE 7, 8, and Beyond from reza_rahman Besides presenting my talk, it was great to catch up with the JBoss gang and attend a few interesting sessions. On Sunday night I went to one of my favorite hangouts in Boston - the exalted Middle East Club as Rolling Stone refers to it (other cool spots in an otherwise pretty boring town is "the Church"). As contradictory as it might sound to the uninitiated, the Middle East Club is possibly the best place in Boston to simultaneously get great Middle Eastern (primarily Lebanese) food and great underground metal. For folks with a bit more exposure, this is probably not contradictory at all given bands like Acrassicauda and documentaries like Heavy Metal in Baghdad. Luckily for me they were featuring a few local Thrash metal bands from the greater Boston area. It wasn't too bad considering it was primarily amateur twenty-something guys (although I'm not sure I'm a qualified critic any more since I all but stopped playing about at that age). It's great Boston has the Middle East as an incubator to keep the rock, metal, folk, jazz, blues and indie scene alive. I definitely enjoyed JUDCon/Boston and hope to be part of the conference next year again.

• JBOSS 7 encoding not working as expected

  I had problems with my listgrids not showing diacritcs corectly and I found out that when I inserted from java into the db the values where already bugged. A post here helped and I changed my project properties - Text encoding - other - UTF-8 and this fixed my problem. Thing is this only fixes my problem locally. What I need to do is on my Jboss server also set the encoding somehow. • Issue in achartengine jar file

  Actually i have created an app in which i have used achartengine to contruct graph. It was running ok, but today i saw an update for android SDK to r17. Once i upadated the sdk the app i had build started crash. In the logcat i show the following error report. • Kindle Fire: PopupMenu$OrientationChangeListener leak

  I have a little popup menu that anchors on a button in the action bar. This works well on 3.0/3.1 Xoom and Galaxy tabs, and a 4.1 Nexus 7. However, on a 7" Fire HD (this one), I get an error about a leaked intent receiver when exiting the application. The error occurs only if the menu was not opened during that run. There is no mention of OrientationChangeListener in the one copy of the source I've found; I suspect Amazon has a different implementation. Questions: Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a workaround or a fix? (Where) can I find Amazon's source code? Finally, (shudder) how important is it that I don't leak a receiver on application exit? • Setting a parameter as a list for an IN expression

  Whenever I try to set a list as a parameter for use in an IN expression I get an Illegal argument exception. Various posts on the internet seem to indicate that this is possible, but it's certainly not working for me. I'm using Glassfish V2.1 with Toplink.
