    At some places in my code, I print debug messages like this: int ret = getLinkSpeed(device.getSysName(), linkSpeed); if (ret < 0) { logDebug("Failed to obtain port speed for this device. Error: " + std::string(strerror(errno))); } From the documentation it is not entirely clear if strerror will return 0 under certain conditions (which would cause my code to crash). Does anyone know if it's safe?

  • bulk insert from Java into Oracle

    I need to insert many small rows rapidly into Oracle. (5 fields). With MySQL, I break the inserts into groups of 100, then use one insert statement for every group of 100 inserts. But with Oracle, user feedback is that the mass inserts (anywhere from 1000-30000) are too slow. Is there a similar trick I can use to speed up the programmatic inserts from Java into Oracle?

  • explorer.exe opens slowly [closed]

    explorer.exe opens veeeery slow when I press [Win+R] key or type "explorer ." in command prompt etc. But it opens with normal speed when I just click on the shortcut to any folder. When I click on the URL in IM like ICQ, already openned browser (firefox) takes too long to process link too. I have this problem for some months and I'm very tired of this. OS: WinXP SP3.

  • How can I scale movement physics functions to frames per second (in a game engine)?

    I am working on a game in Javascript (HTML5 Canvas). I implemented a simple algorithm that allows an object to follow another object with basic physics mixed in (a force vector to drive the object in the right direction, and the velocity stacks momentum, but is slowed by a constant drag force). At the moment, I set it up as a rectangle following the mouse (x, y) coordinates. Now, the tricky part: my question is, if I change this to a different framerate (say, 30 FPS), how can I modify the force and drag values to keep the movement constant? That is, right now my rectangle (whose position is dictated by the x and y variables) moves at a maximum speed of about 4 pixels per second, and accelerates to its max speed in about 1 second. BUT, if I change the framerate, it moves slower (e.g. 30 FPS accelerates to only 2 pixels per frame). So, how can I create an equation that takes FPS (frames per second) as input, and spits out correct "drag" and "force" values that will behave the same way in real time?   • Troubleshooting Windows Authentication problems (no challenge) in IIS 7.5?

    I know that there are thousands of reports of people having trouble getting Integrated Windows Authentication to work with IIS, but they all seem to lead to web pages that don't apply or solutions that I've already tried. I've deployed dozens of sites like this before, so either there's something bizarre going on with the server/configuration, or I've been looking at this too long and not seeing the obvious. Simply put, everything works perfectly on my local machine, but falls apart on the production server, which as far as I can tell has the exact same configuration. On the local machine: The machine is running Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1, IIS 7.5. The site has been tested successfully, using both IIS and the VS Web Development Server. The IIS site config has all authentication methods disabled except Windows Authentication. The local machine is not on any domain. The Providers set up are Negotiate and NTLM (not Negotiate:Kerberos). Extended Protection is Off. All browsers tested (IE, Firefox, Chrome) show the challenge prompt and allow me to log in to the localhost domain with my (local) Windows account. All browsers tested also work using an opaque local IP address - so the browsers themselves don't seem to care whether the site appears "local" or "remote". I've added a display line to the web page which shows the currently-logged-in user and it shows exactly what I would expect (whichever local user I logged in with). On the remote machine: The server is running Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5. Loading the web page results in an immediate 401.2 error: You are not authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers. No challenge prompt ever appears. The IIS site config has all authentication methods disabled except Windows Authentication. The remote machine is not on any domain. The Providers set up are Negotiate and NTLM (not Negotiate:Kerberos). Extended Protection is Off. On the remote machine (remote desktop session), the same error appears in Internet Explorer regardless of whether the domain is localhost or the external IP address. If I try to view the remote web site from my local machine, the error is still 401, but a slightly different 401. No subcode, with the text: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. The Windows Authentication IIS role feature is installed. The WindowsAuthentication Module is added (at the Server level). The exact same error occurs if I turn off Windows Authentication and enable Basic Authentication. The site does load if I turn off Windows Authentication and enable Anonymous (obviously). I've already followed all of the troubleshooting steps on Microsoft Support: Troubleshooting HTTP 401 errors in IIS I've already tried the workaround shown on another Microsoft support page (supposedly to force NTLM as the only method). Last but not least, I tried turning on FREB for 401.2 errors and the results don't seem to tell me anything useful, all I see is the following warning: MODULE_SET_RESPONSE_ERROR_STATUS ModuleName IIS Web Core Notification 2 HttpStatus 401 HttpReason Unauthorized HttpSubStatus 2 ErrorCode 2147942405 ConfigExceptionInfo Notification AUTHENTICATE_REQUEST ErrorCode Access is denied. (0x80070005) ...this seems to just be telling me what I already know (that it's simply rejecting the request instead of negotiating the credentials). The trace does indicate that the WindowsAuthentication module is correctly loaded because there is a NOTIFY_MODULE_START line with ModuleName = WindowsAuthentication (and various other ASP.NET follow-up events - [un]fortunately, no interesting errors or warnings here). Can anyone tell me what I might be missing here? Quick Update: I'm a little uncomfortable sending a whole Wireshark dump as it would reveal IPs, URLs and other stuff, but I did a side-by-side comparison of the HTTP responses from localhost and the remote server in Fiddler, and it seems fairly self-evident what the problem is: Localhost: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized Cache-Control: private Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate WWW-Authenticate: NTLM X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2011 23:42:34 GMT Content-Length: 6399 Proxy-Support: Session-Based-Authentication Remote: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized Content-Type: text/html Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2011 23:43:13 GMT Content-Length: 1293 Aside from a few seemingly-inconsequential differences like cache-control, the main difference is that the remote server is not sending the WWW-Authenticate headers back to the client. So, I guess that narrows the question down to: Why is IIS not sending WWW-Authenticate headers when Windows Authentication appears to be installed, loaded, and exclusively enabled?

  • BIOS update for Asrock H67M-GE/THW

    I can't seem to find a flash image for my mainboard. There is not even a product page for it (any more, although there used to be a manual at http://download.asrock.com/manual/qig/H67M-GETHW.pdf, as google revealed). So no driver updates from the manufacturer for my mainboard either. I offered the flash images for both of the similarly named H67M-GE and H67M-GE/HT to asrock's "Instant Flash" utility, but it complained it "could not find an image" on my usb drive. The asrock page states that "Instant Flash" searches for a flash image that exactly matches the mainboard, i.e. it must have determined that the H67M-GE/THW I have is different from H67M-GE and H67M-GE/HT. Any idea?

  • Local Flash in Chrome pepper player won't link to internet

    I have a local .swf file in a local .html file. The flash file opens a popup window when a link is clicked. In Chrome, when I open the html file and click the button, nothing happens. Then when I go to about:plugins and disable the top Flash player (the pepper one) then try refresh and try clicking the button again, nothing happens. Then when I go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and add the the folder the files are stored in to the list and refresh the page and click the button again, it opens the popup. When I re-enable the pepper flash player, and re-add the folder to the allowed list in flash (it's gone from the list now that I changed players), refresh the page and click the button again, it does nothing. I don't know why it won't open with the pepper player. I'm using Windows 7, Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m, Pepper Flash player 11.4.31.110, and regular Flash Player 11,4,402,287.

    When I run the following command (as root or via sudo) from a bash script I get an exit status (or return code in mount man page parlance) of 1: mount -v -t cifs //nasbox/volume /tmpdir/ --verbose -o credentials=/root/cifsid & /tmp/mylog It outputs the following into the myflog file: parsing options: rw,credentials=/root/cifsid mount.cifs kernel mount options unc=//nasbox\volume,ip=192.168.1.1,user=root,pass=xxxx,ver=1,rw,credentials=/root/cifsid It mounts the volume fine but returns the exit code (from the mount man page): 1 Incorrect invocation or permissions The standard Linux log files don't contain any error information. Hence, all seems to go well but I get an exit code of 1 instead of 0. Any ideas? The -v and --verbose options are just there for debugging this problem.

This works fine in IE and Firefox but in chrome I get the following This web page is not available The web page at http://mysite.com/myintranet.php might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 338 (net::ERR_INVALID_AUTH_CREDENTIALS): Unknown error. I've tried looking online for a solution without any success. I'm running the latest version of Chrome 21.0.1180.60

    I have a webservice /test/Service1.asmx in the same folder as a page /test/test.aspx. the page works fine but I get the message bellow for the services in the same location. I know the file is there and the url is correct, added the script module and managed handler as well. If anyone knows what I'm missing here I'd appreciate it Server Error in '/' Application.   • Hosting 2 Sites Under 1 DiscountASP.Net Hosting Account

    I've currently got an ASP.Net site hosted with DiscountASP.Net what I would like to do now is put a second site in a subdirectory of this original site and register a new domain to point at the subfolder, so to the end user its 2 completely seperate sites. I've asked DiscountASP support if they could do this and they just say they dont support it and wont help. If I registered the second domain with someone like 123-reg is it possible to make that domain point to a subdirectory in my main site? If not I may have to put some sort of redirect on my route index page that sends you to the right page based on the URL you requested but I would really rather not have to go there. I don't want to buy an additional account as the second site is just a bit of a side project that may well go no where.

  • Windows Start Menu Not Staying on Top

    Hey everyone. I've had this problem since Windows Vista. I did a clean install with Windows 7 and hoped it would fix the problem. Also swapped out the video card just to rule out a strange driver issue. Here's what's happening. After running for some period of time (usually a few hours), the Start button/orb will loose it's "Chrome" and turn into a plain button that just says "Start." It will work fine for a while, but then the start menu will just stop showing. Additionally, when I hit Win+D to show the desktop, the entire taskbar completely disappears. I can get it back usually by moving/minimizing windows that may be overlapping where the start menu should show. Otherwise, it requires either a full reboot or I'll end up killing & restarting the explorer.exe process.     Hi, I am building a new box, and planning to install Ubuntu 9-04 or Ubuntu 9-10 on it. I am wary of the hardware selection because in the past I struggled with lack of drivers or driver incompatibility with the network card and video card, etc. The last time I built a Linux box was 2007, and I have not kept up to date with the changes since. One notable difference is that I can no longer find motherboards with nVidia chip sets. I have set up the Dynamic DNS page with (this is translated from German, so might be worded a bit differently): [x] Use dynamic DNS Dynamic DNS Provider: User defined Update-URL: https://freedns.afraid.org/dynamic/update.php?MY-DIRECT-URL-KEY Domain Name: mydomain.crabdance.com User Name: myusername Password: mypassword Now on the FritzBox status page, it says: Dynamic DNS: activated, mydomain.crabdance.com, Status: Account temprarily deactivated When I check back on http://freedns.afraid.org, my IP address never changes. Is there any way to fix this? Note my router is on an IPv6 network (m-net), with IPv4 only through DS-Lite. I'm not sure whether this affects anything. Update: Following the guide here (putting myusername instead of MY-DIRECT-URL-KEY) hasn't given any succes. However, the status field has changed slightly: Dynamic DNS: activated, mydomain.crabdance.com, Status: unknown
