    maybe a closure is my solution? not exactly sure how to pull it off though. the code is set up like so: var globalVar = ''; var globalVar2 = ''; function func() { if (condition) func2(globalVar) else func2(globalVar2) } in func2() i cache some HTML in a main container into the appropriate global variable that i pass to it. basically i have a main container that holds different pages depending on what tab they choose. for performance i want to cache the page into global vars so i need to know what tab is active to figure out which global var to assign the html to.

  • Struts 1 - problem in showing ActionMessages through a JSP page

    I am using Struts 1.3.10. I am trying to display ActionMessage and ActionError set by Action class through a JSP page. The problem is that the ActionErrors are displaying well but ActionMessages are not displaying. When I debug the application, I found that the messages (reference variable of ActionMessages) contains messages. I also saved those messages through saveMessages(request, messages) method of Action class. So, I think that the problem is in the JSP code through which I am trying to display those messages. The JSP code is as follows: <logic:messagesPresent> <ul id="messsages"> <html:messages id="msg" message="true"> <li><bean:write name="msg"/> </li> </html:messages> </ul> </logic:messagesPresent>

  • How can I split the suckerfish Menu into two pieces so that I can put it in two frame?

    I found a tutorial for developing multi-level drop down menu here.Its demo can be checked at www.kriesi.at/wp-content/extra_data/suckerfish_tutorial/step4.html#. I would like to enhance it to support cross-frames . It means, the horizontal part of the whole menu (html,css,javascript etc..in demo page) will exist in the upper frame and the rest will be put in the lower frame. Edit: There will be only one menu item in the horizontal part. It will be still ok if I can click that menu_item rather than mouse-hovering to show the lower part of the menu .     hello, using XMLHttpRequest it is not possible to open a connection to a document on a different domain than where the page itself is hosted. but what about different ports? for example i have a webserver running on my machine listening on port 80 so the webaddress would look like this: http://localhost:80/mypage.html and i have another webserver running on localhost which is meant to process the ajax requests but listens on a different port. so the javascript in mypage.html would look like this: var xmlhttprequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET", "http://localhost:1234/?parameters", true); xmlhttp.send(); would this work? or will it give a security exception as well?

  • iphone uiwebview / form

    Hey All, Okay, so I have an iphone app that presents the user with a UIWebview of an html page with a form I created. The form has standard stuff like a message box and dropdown boxes. Once the user fills out the form and clicks submit, it saves the information as nsstrings in my program. Okay, no problem there. That all works fine. However, I also wanna be able to edit this form as well. Once I save all this information the user selected in the form (as strings), is there a way to put it back into an html form using an uiwebview so a user of the app can edit the info later on?? I apologize in advance if I didn't give enough info.

    Hello All, Is it possible to switch HTML on click? I have an index page with a large image on the front. Under the image there is four links. When the cursor rolls over the link I would like a small tool tip to appear. Then when the clicks the link I want the large Image to change and some extra HTML to appear over it. (just a small content box) The tooltip I think I have sorted using Jquery but I'm not sure how I can change the image [b]AND[/b] add a small content box over the image. Thanks in advanced everyone.

    Hi, I'm migrating some old code to jquery: xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xmlHttp.readyState == 4) { $("#" + ajaxArea).html (xmlHttp.responseText); $("#" + ajaxArea).attr('title', 'Login'); $("#" + ajaxArea).dialog({ height : 140, modal : true }); } }; where ajaxArea is the ID of a DIV in the HTML. The dialog bit is basically adapted from the jQuery example here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal All of it works fine up until the last line. Firefox throws an error that simply says "$(" for that line. Anyone know what might be causing this?

  • Browsers (IE and Firefox) freeze when copying large amount of text

    I have a web application - a Java servlet - that delivers data to users in the form of a text printout in a browser (text marked up with HTML in order to display in the browser as we want it to). The text does display in different colors, though most of it is black. One typical mode of operation is this: 1. User submits a form to request data. 2. Servlet delivers HTML file to browser. 3. User does CTRL+A to select all the text. 4. User does CTRL+C to copy all the text. 5. User goes to a text editor and does CTRL+V to paste the text. In the testing where I'm having this problem, step #2 successfully loads all the data - we wait for that to complete. We can scroll down to the end of what the browser loaded and see the end of the data. However, the browser freezes on step #3 (Firefox) or on step #4 (IE). Because step #2 finishes, I think it is a browser/memory issue, and not an issue with the web application. If I run queries to deliver smaller amounts of data (but after several queries we get the same data we would have above in one query) and copy/paste this text, the file I save it into ends up being about 8 MB. If I save the browser's displayed HTML to a file on my computer via File-Save As from the browser menu, it works fine and the file is about 22 MB. We've tried this on 2 different computers at work (both running Windows XP, with at least 2 GB of RAM and many GB of free disk space), using Firefox and IE. We also tried it on a home computer from a home network outside of work (thinking it might be our IT security software causing the problem), running Windows 7 using IE, and still had the problem. When I've done this, I can see whatever browser I'm using utilizing the CPU at 50%. Firefox's memory usage grows to about 1 GB; IE's stays in the several hundred MBs. We once let this run for half an hour, and it did not complete. I'm most likely going to modify the web app to have an option of delivering a plain text file for download, and I imagine that will get the users what they need. But for the mean time, and because I'm curious - and I don't like my application freezing people's browsers, does anyone have any ideas about the browser freezing? I understand that sometimes you just reach your memory limit, but 22 MB sounds to me like an amount I should be able to copy to the clipboard.

    Hi all, I was using this JQuery in this download link, and included it in the head tag of a HTML web page: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> In a php web page, I got these few lines of codes: $.ajax({ url: 'http://mywebsite.com/site1/toavail/, type: "post", success: function(data) { // some more code here } }); When I tested the HTML page in IE 6, and 7, I saw the same warning message: "permission denied" When I tested it in Firefox 3, nothing was returned from the server web page. Later, I changed the JQuery source link to be: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.js I refreshed the web page, and I could saw the returned value then.

  • Error with global variable in php not extending to included php file

    I have an html file that calls has a php section in the header like so: $page = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); Now further down in the html file I have a included footer like so: <?php include("footer.php"); ?> In this script I am referencing the $page variable, but it doesn't find it. I tried echoing the variable and nothing happened. When I place the basename() code in the footer.php file though, it handled it fine. I'd like to be efficient with the coding, so how can I get the footer.php file to get that $page variable? Is there a better way to do this than including the $page variable twice?

So I would do this var cells = $('#tbl :checked').parents('tr').children('td'); So lets assume only one checkbox can be checked(so no jqueyr foreach loop). So now say I wanted to get the 2nd table cells value I would just go var secondCell = $(cells[1]).html(); The thing with this though it makes the code so brittle. Like what if I put another table cell after after the checkbox one? <table border="1" id="tbl"> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /></td> <td> I am new </td> <td>row 1, cell 1</td> <td>row 1, cell 2</td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /></td> <td> I am new </td> <td>row 2, cell 1</td> <td>row 2, cell 2</td> </tr> </table> So now I have to go through my code and change this var secondCell = $(cells[1]).html(); to this var thirdCell = $(cells[2]).html(); since now I am actually after the 3rd cell and not the 2nd cell anymore. So is there a better way? Thanks

    I have a huge plain text document, about 700kb which is very big for plain texts and I need to format it on cloud converting it to HTML, but the only things that I need to replace, format to HTML so it can be displayed by the browser, are bold and italic. For bold at the plain text they are like this: Not on bold... **bold text here** not bold here And italic like this: Not italic... *italic text* no italic Just like StackOverflow does for their formatting, but the problem is that I need to make it a lot faster, since the text is so big... One of my ideas was to add a page slide, so I the script just need to format some part of the text, not it all, then after the user changes the page the script would be called again, but the problem is how I can make the code for this all?

Next thing I need to do is set the selected value that will come from a Session["orderTemplateId"] which is set when the user selects a particular option from the list. Now after looking online the fourth parameter should allow me to set a selected value, so if I do this: @Html.DropDownListFor(n => n.OrderTemplateListItems, new SelectList(Model.OrderTemplateListItems, "value", "text", 56), "Please select an order template") 56 is the Id of the item that I want selected, but to no avail. I then thought why not do it in the Controller?     Hey all, quick question. My end goal is to start developing apps for the iPhone but my current skillset is pretty limited. I'm wondering how far back I should go back and where I should start as far as becoming familiar with coding before the iPhone SDK course on Lynda.com isn't something that makes my eyes glaze over. My experience: I taught myself html from the html for dummies book maybe 10 years ago, I've taken a dreamweaver class and built a few sites with it, and I've customized a self hosted Wordpress blog by playing with the php code. Any tips on where I should start if I want to head down the road toward developing for the iPhone? Thanks!

  • Weird behavior in referring to global variable. Is this a bug in javascript? Surely it isn't!

    Consider the following piece of code. <html> <body> <script> var x = 5; //globally declared function showX() { alert("x="+x); //trying to display global value var x=10; //trying to create and initialize a local x } </script> <input type = "button" value="Show X" onclick="showX()"> </body> </html> The alert statement shows 'x=undefined'. And doesn't print the global value of x as expected. An equivalent java code would display 5! So, is it a bug? If not then how does one explain that behavior?
