• AS3 get closest date to today

    - by fana
Hi, I have a XML file with a few concert dates. In my flash/AS3 file, I would like to show only the up coming event, relative to current date. Like this: Event 01: 30-05-2010 Event 02: 02-06-2010 Event 03: 05-06-2010 Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. I have the basic AS3 code for listing the XML working, but I'm having trouble filtering the result. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Can I use a single instance of a delegate to start multiple Asynchronous Requests?

    - by RobV
Just wondered if someone could clarify the use of BeginInvoke on an instance of some delegate when you want to make multiple asynchronous calls since the MSDN documentation doesn't really cover/mention this at all. What I want to do is something like the following: MyDelegate d = new MyDelegate(this.TargetMethod); List<IAsyncResult> results = new List<IAsyncResult>(); //Start multiple asynchronous calls for (int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { results.Add(d.BeginInvoke(someParams, null, null)); } //Wait for all my calls to finish WaitHandle.WaitAll(results.Select(r => r.AsyncWaitHandle).ToArray()); //Process the Results The question is can I do this with one instance of the delegate or do I need an instance of the delegate for each individual call? Given that EndInvoke() takes an IAsyncResult as a parameter I would assume that the former is correct but I can't see anything in the documentation to indicate either way.

  • What does in XML mean?

    - by mystify
I often find this strange CDATA tag in XML files: I have observed that this CDATA tag always comes at the beginning, and then followed by some stuff. But sometimes it is used, sometimes it is not. I assume it is to mark that some "data" will be inserted after that. But what kind of "data"? Isn't anything I write in XML tags some sort of "data"?

  • Find and sort by number of ocurrences of tag with Active Admin and act_as_taggable_on

    - by nunopolonia
I'm using act_as_taggable_on and Active Admin on a Rails project. In that project there are Posts and each Post has Tags. I want to show a list of Tags in Active Admin and the number of ocurrences of each one. The way I found to do this was: index do column :name column :ocurrences do |tag| ocurrences = Post.tag_counts.find(tag.id).count end default_actions end Which will search the Tag List every time for every Post, which performance wise looks really bad. I would also like to be able to sort the tags by ocurrence. Any idea of how I can do it?

  • How to set ItemsSource?

    - by Mark
This dialog makes no sense to me And I'm having trouble finding good tutorials on it. Most of the examples aren't detailed enough, or do stuff via code, but I'd like to take advantage of the IDE as much as possible. Whats the difference between ItemsSource and DataContext? I'd like to bind it to just a List for starters. I don't need SQL or databases or anything fancy. Where would I declare my list? In MainWindow.xaml.cs? How do I get it to appear in that dialog?

  • Why is this consider bad practice? or is it? (ASP.Net)

    - by user318573
Would this code be considered bad practice:
<% =DisplayMeetings(12) %>
This is a snippet of code from the default.aspx of a small web app I have worked on. It works perfectly well, runs very fast, but as always, I am aware of the fact that just because it works, doesn't mean it is OK. Basically, the DisplayMeetings subroutine outputs a bunch of formatted HTML (an unordered list actually), with no formatting, just the requisite html, and then my CSS performs all the necessary formatting. The data for generating the list comes from an SQL server database (the parameter controls how many rows to return) and I am using stored procedures and datareader for fast access. This keeps my front-end extraordinary simple and clean, imho, and lets me do all the work in VB or C# in a separate module. I could of course use a databound repeater (and probably 6 or more other methods) of accomplishing the same thing, but are they any better? Other than loosing the design-time features of VS2010?

  • Netbeans Intellisense for Rails

    - by irishfury
Has anybody figured out a way to make the Netbeans intellisense for ruby and rails better? It either has too many options in the list (which I understand is a problem since it is a dynamic language). Or it has no options in the list, as if it is not dynamic enough to find everything. Are there any hacks to make it better, or is this just something that needs to be improved within the Netbeans source code? I'm currently using 6.8. Please spare me the posts about how I don't really need to use intellisense, and I should use vim or emacs. I'm sure the vim programmers are 10 times more productive than me with all their cool shortcuts, but I have no desire to learn these tools.

  • Send a String[] ArrayList over Socket connection

    - by Duncan Palmer
So i'm trying to send a String[] Array/List over an open socket connection. I currently have this code: Sending: public void sendData() { try { OutputStream socketStream = socket.getOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream objectOutput = new ObjectOutputStream(socketStream); objectOutput.writeObject(new String[] {"Test", "Test2", "Test3"}); objectOutput.close(); socketStream.close(); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e.toString()); } } Recieving: public Object readData() { try { InputStream socketStream = socket.getInputStream(); ObjectInputStream objectInput = new ObjectInputStream(new GZIPInputStream(socketStream)); Object a = objectInput.readObject(); return a; } catch(Exception e) { return null; } } After I have recieved the String array/list on the other end I want to be able to iterate through it like I would do normally so I can get the values. My current code doesn't seem to works as it returns null as the value. is this possible?

  • Is this a good approach to dealing with tagging?

    - by Mel
Can this code be optimized or re-factored? Is this an optimal approach to tagging? The following code is a callback in my posts model. It creates a record that associates a tag with a post in a QuestionsTags joiner table. When necessary, if a given tag does not already exist in the tags table, the function creates it, then uses its id to create the new record in the QuestionsTags table. The difficulty with this approach is the QuestionsTags table depends on data in the tags table which may or may not exist. The function assumes the following tables: tags(id, tagName), posts(tags) // Comma delimited list questionsTags(postId, tagId) The idea is to loop over a delimited list of tags submitted with a post and check to see if each tag already exists in the tags table If tag exists: Check to see if there's already a QuestionTag record for this post and this tag in the QuestionTags table. If yes, do nothing (the association already exists) If no, create a new QuestionTag record using the id of the existing tag and the postId If tag does not already exist: Create the new tag in the tags table Use its id to create a new QuestionsTags record Code /** * @hint Sets tags for a given question. **/ private function setTags() { // Loop over the comma and space delmited list of tags for (local.i = 1; local.i LTE ListLen(this.tags, ", "); local.i = (local.i + 1)) { // Check if the tag already exists in the database local.tag = model("tag").findOneByTagName(local.i); // If the tag exists, look for an existing association between the tag and the question in the QuestionTag table if (IsObject(local.tag)) { local.questionTag = model("questionTag").findOneByPostIdAndTagId(values="#this.postId#,#local.tag.id#"); // If no assciatione exists, create a new QuestionTag record using the tagId and the postId if (! IsObject(local.questionTag)) { local.newQuestionTag = model("questionTag").new(postId = this.id, tagId = local.tag.id); // Abort if the saving the new QuestionTag is unsuccesful if (! local.newQuestionTag.save()) { return false; } } } // If the tag does not exist create it else { local.newTag = model("tag").new(tagName = local.i, userId = this.ownerUserId); // Abort if the the new tag is not saved successfully if (! local.newTag.save()) { return false; } // Otherwise create a new association in the QuestionTags table using the id of the newly created tag and the postId local.newQuestionTag = model("questionTag").new(postId = this.id, tagId = local.newTag.id); // Abort if the new QuestionTag does not save correctly if (! local.newQuestionTag.save()) { return false; } } } } FYI: I'm using CFWheels in my application, which explains the ORM functions used.

  • How to implement collection with covariance when delegating to another collection for storage?

    - by memelet
I'm trying to implement a type of SortedMap with extended semantics. I'm trying to delegate to SortedMap as the storage but can't get around the variance constraints: class IntervalMap[A, +B](implicit val ordering: Ordering[A]) //extends ... { var underlying = SortedMap.empty[A, List[B]] } Here is the error I get. I understand why I get the error (I understand variance). What I don't get is how to implement this type of delegation. And yes, the covariance on B is required. error: covariant type B occurs in contravariant position in type scala.collection.immutable.SortedMap[A,List[B]] of parameter of setter underlying_=

  • Listing documents directory contents in UITableView

So I've researched extensively on how to list the files in the documents directory in a table view and after much deliberation, came up with this code. Whenever I run this, the app crashes with EXEC_BAD_ACCESS. I've been busting my head for hours, so any help would be appreciated. All I'm doing is acquiring the files in the documents directory and trying to list them in a table view... Code is pasted in link below. http://pastie.org/4178767 Edit- App crashes in numberOfRowsInSection: method.

  • Django: Save an uploaded file to a FileField

    - by David Wolever
I feel a little stupid for having to ask this… But I can't seem find it documented anywhere. If I've got a Model with FileField, how can I stuff an uploaded FILE into that FileField? For example, I'd like to do something like this: class MyModel(Model): file = FileField(...) def handle_post(request, ...): mymodel = MyModel.objects.get(...) if request.FILES.get("newfile"): mymodel.file = request.FILES["newfile"] But that doesn't appear to work.

  • Javascript / Jquery Tree Travesal question

    - by Copper
    Suppose I have the following

Item 1

Item 2

Sub Item

Item 3

This list is auto-generated by some other code (so adding exclusive id's/class' is out of the question. Suppose I have some jquery code that states that if I mouseover an li, it gets a background color. However, if I mouseover the "Sub Item" list item, "Item 2" will be highlighted as well. How can I make it so that if the user mouses over "Sub Item" it only puts a background color on that and not on "Item 2" as well?

  • using different string files in android

    - by boreas
I'm porting my iPhone app to android and I'm having a problem with the string files now. The app is a translation tool and users can switch the languages, so all the localized strings are in both languages and they are independent from what locale the OS is running. For iOS version I have different files like de.strings, en.strings and fr.strings and so on. For every target with specified language pair I read the strings from the string tables, e.g. for de-fr I will include de.strings and fr.strings in project and set the name of the string tables in the info-list file and read strings from them. In the end I have one project containing different targets (with different info-list files) and all are well configured. I'm intending to do the same on android platform, but Is only one strings.xml allowed per project? How do I set different build target? How do I specify per target which strings.xml it should read?

  • javascript ul button dropdown crashes after if doing more than 1 button

    - by Apprentice Programmer
So i have a button drop down list that i want users to select a choice, and basically the button will return the users selection.Pretty straight forward, tested on jsFiddle and works great. Using ruby on rails btw, so i'm not sure if it might conflicting the way rails handle javascript actions. Heres the code: <%= form_for(@user, :html => {:class => 'form-horizontal'}) do |f| %> <fieldset>
Do you have experience in Business? If yes, select one of the following:

Select one

Entrepreneurship

Investments

Management

All of the Above

<%= f.text_field :years_business , :class => "form-control", :placeholder => "Years of experience" %>
Now there are 2 more of these, and basically what happens is that if I select an item for the first time from the dropdown list, everything works great. But the moment I select the same button/or new button, the page immediately kind of refreshes, they selected value will not show up after the list drops down and user selects a value. I viewed the page source and added additional javascript src and types, but still doesnt work. the jquery code: jQuery(function ($) { $('.input-group-btn .dropdown-menu > li:not(.divider)').click(function(){ $(this).closest('ul').prev().text($(this).text()) }) }); Any suggestions what is causing the problem?? The jsfiddle link is here: http://jsfiddle.net/w4s8u/7/
