• CentOS Client - Unable to Establish iSCSI connection with multiple interfaces on the initiator

  So after upgrading to CentOS 6.2, I am seemingly no longer able to login into my iSCSI targets. I have multiple interfaces on different subnets on the system, and I first thought that it had to do with the fact that I may not be binding correct interfaces, which seems to be the case when looking at netstat, as this is clearly wrong: [root]? netstat -na|grep .90 tcp 0 1 10.10.100.60:42354 10.10.8.90:3260 SYN_SENT tcp 0 1 10.10.100.60:40777 10.10.9.90:3260 SYN_SENT I then went ahead and disabled all but one interface, and so as a result netstat appears to be correct, but the issue with login remains. I am positive that the target never sees a packet, because I see nothing by SYN_SENT. I know the problem is on my client, because the target is servicing multiple systems, none of which are CentOS 6.2. At this point I am pretty confident that some things changed between CentOS 6.0/6.1 and 6.2. So, if anyone have any thoughts, or ran into this, I would very much like to hear your thoughts. I went a few weeks back and grabbed a snapshot of this system from before upgrading to 6.2. I spun up a new system from the snapshot, and reconfigured interface info and host keys, as well as iSCSI initiator and iscsi interface info to match new MACs. Changed nothing else. Then, I attempted to connect to my targets, and no issues at all. I cannot say that this was unexpected. I then went ahead and compared sysctl settings from both systems and there were differences after the upgrade, but nothing seemingly relevant to iSCSI or IP that could contribute to this. I also noticed that by default now two sessions per connection were enabled after the upgrade, but I changed it back to 1 session in /etc/iscsi/iscsid.conf. On the problematic system we can see that source interface is seemingly wrong, but even when I disable the 10.10.100 interface, problems persist. So, while this may be relevant, I could not validate it for certain. Needless to say, further research is necessary. Something is clearly different between releases. It is quite obscure and I doubt this will happen to anyone else any time soon. It turns out that setting iface.iscsi_ifacename and iface.hwaddress in the interfaces configuration file is not legal. When one manually adds an iscsi target, such as below, all settings from the interface config file are copied into the node config file, that gets created by the below command. Result is parameters iface.iscsi_ifacename and iface.hwaddress together in the same config file. These parameters are seemingly mutually exclusive, which does not exactly make sense, or there is perhaps an oversight in the codepath.   I have images stored in a database and am serving them from an MVC controller as "FileResult". If I run the MVC application from Visual Studio 2008 in debug mode and set a break point inside the controller method the debugger intercepts the call on every page refresh regardless of my "OutputCache" settings. Does the VS debugger invalidate the OutputCache or is there something else going on here? • Building a Universal iPad App - Where is the device recognition code?

  I noticed that when I create a new project in XCode for a Universal iPad/iPhone application, the template comes with two separate App Delegate files, one for each device. I can't seem to locate the place in code where it tries to decide which app delegate to use. I have an existing iPhone project I'd like to port to iPad. My thinking was that if I went ahead and designed the iPad project, I could just import my iPhone classes and nibs, and then use the App Delegate and UIDevice to decide which MainWindow.xib to load. The process went like this: Create an iPad project coded as a split-view create brand new classes and nibs for the iPad import iPhone classes and nibs Change build/target settings in accordance with Universal Apps Use [[UIDevice currentDevice] model] in the AppDelegate to decide which MainWindow to load Will this work, or does the app just automatically know which device it's being deployed on? • Indentation (and wrap-indentation) of debug strings output by printf()/fprintf() in C program

  I'm using a debug output using printf() in my functions, but the output goes to the console starting at the 1st columns. I'd like to distinguish the nesting level of functions by indenting their output strings each time I dive into the function (it's implemented easily having a static int indentlevel; variable, which is incremented at the beginning of a function, used as a space-filler-count and decremented at the end). But the flaw is that once the output line becomes too long to be wrapped at the console edge, lines' wrapped parts start at column 1 of the console. Should I take care about this, since once the output is redirected to a file, lines are, say, one-line-length, and widths of the lines depend only on the text file viewer settings?

• How to control allowed HTML tags in WMD Editor?

  I am trying to some-how set the valid HTML tags and attributes users would be able to use in WMD Editor in my site. For example, I want to forbid the user to directly set the font size, color, typeface and so on, which is trivial to do with the default settings typing something like: <span style="font-size: 45px; color:#FF0000">Some intrusive text here</span>. I think the way to implement this is through the "wmd_options", but I have not found any documentation or reference regarding this, giving the fact that the 'Options demo' seems to be the only public documentation and it does not show how should I do what I have described above. • Creating custom contact page -- page-contact.tpl.php (Drupal)

  I'm new to Drupal. I want to create a contact page, so I copied page.tpl.php and renamed it to page-contact.tpl.php. I created some new elements in the page, so I can see that if I click on the "contact" link, I'll know that I went to the correct page. Right now I don't see any change. Was there something I missed? Do I need to do something in the admin settings so Drupal knows which file I need to open? I also tried clearing my cache.

  Context: Master server (Java, TCP) monitoring a list of hosted games (a different machine for the master server and for each hosted game server). Any user can host a game on his PC. Hosted games can last weeks or months. Need: Knowing when hosted game servers are closed or no longer reachable. Restriction 1: Can't rely on hosted servers' "gone offline update message", since those messages may never arrive (power down, Internet link cut, etc.) Restriction 2: I'm not sure about TCP's built-in keep-alive, since it would mean a 24/7 open socket with each hosted server (correct me if I'm wrong) Any thoughts?

• Execute C++ exe from C# form using Process.start()

  Hi, I'm trying to create a C# form app that will allow me to use all of my previous C++ programs from one central program. I'm able to open the exes with Process.start, however it does not compile the code correctly. Example code: Process.Start("C:\\Documents and Settings\\dan\\Desktop\\test.exe"); This will bring up the console and act like it's running, but it does not run like when I normally compile out of the C++ editor. Is there a startinfo variable I need to set to signify that it's a c++ program or something along that line? Also, is there any way to execute a C++ program using process.start that will allow me to pass it variables through the command line via argc and argv? Thanks

• C# - Layout problem on Windows XP professional

  I am developing a C# application with .NET Framework 2.0. The problem is, that on my client's PC, the controls get expanded, layout changes (positions of the controls gets changed), sometimes buttons get missed entirely. It happens even on Forms with 2-3 TextBoxes, 2-3 Buttons and some Labels. I tried a lot of investigations. I tried to show a message in the form's resize event. But it doesn't get called. After digging a bit more, it seemed that in Designer.cs file even though ResumeLayout (false) is being called for the form, but this causes the the expansion/disposition of the controls. My Client is using Windows XP professional on his Dell laptop. He is able to reproduce the issue on other laptops with Windows XP professional. But not in other OSes (like Windows XP Home or Windows Vista). In my desktop with Windows XP professional, it is not reproducible. How can this issue be resolved?

  Hi! I'm working on a game for the iPhone where I use the Oolong engine for rendering, and now I just tried to update my project to the newest version. However - now I get the following error when I try to compile: gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 in the build results I see in which cpp file the error happens, but I don't see any additional information. how can I get more info about what is going wrong in order to track down the problem? edit: after inspecting the compile output, i got the following lines, where the error occurs: {standard input}:61:selected processor does not support 'fmrx r0, fpscr' {standard input}:62:unshifted register required -- 'bic r0,r0,#0x00370000' ...somemorelines {standard input}:69:selected processor does not support 'fmxr fpscr,r0' this is some VFO code from one of the #include files. it works fine in the examples that come with the egnine. could there be something screwed up with my project settings? I compared them to the one of the example and they seem to be identical

• Debug.WriteLine not working

  In the past, perhaps versions of Visual Studio prior to the 2008 that I am using now, I would do something like this in my VB.NET code: System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("Message") ..and the output would go to the output window. Now it doesn't. Something must first apparently be enabled. If this involves "attaching a debugger", please explain how to do it. It seems to me that it should just work without too much of a fuss. • JDBC connections: How to specify the port for data-transfer?

  I wanto to run my JDBC-connection (either Oracle or MSSQL) through a proxy-server. Reason for this is to have additional controls of the traffic, especially for developing. I know, I could specify the proxy, which runs on my machine, and the port in the connection-string. But the specified connection-settings are only taken as some kind of handshake to agree on which port the data is finally transferred. And this is defenitly not the port which I have under proxy-control. So, does anybody have an idea, how to specify the port for the data-transfer? I would prefer if this could be done in the connection-string. The same issue applies for Oracle and MSSQL. Thx LeO

  Using Visual Studio 2005, is there a way to export the images in an Image List to individual files on my PC? Using the IDE, I select the Image List and view its properties. In the "Images" property, I launch the Images Collection Editor dialog. I can only add and remove images, but I cannot find a way to export an image that is already in the list. Why? The developer who made the original list has left our company and I need the images for an ASP.NET application (will convert to .jpeg). Thank you for the help!

• Apache on linux and i18n : spawning processes or threads ?

  Hello, I would like to understand better exactly what is going on when Apache on linux receive an HTTP request in a process pre-fork model. Let's say we have 20 Apache child processes waiting. When I receive an HTTP request, is it true to say that 1 child process will be chosen to handle the request and that this process won't handle another request from another user until the first one is finished ? I am asking the question because of a PHP limitation that states : The locale information is maintained per process, not per thread. If you are running PHP on a multithreaded server API like IIS or Apache on Windows, you may experience sudden changes in locale settings while a script is running, though the script itself never called setlocale(). This happens due to other scripts running in different threads of the same process at the same time, changing the process-wide locale using setlocale(). Thanks Jerome Wagner

• How to use MSBuild to create ClickOnce files that match those created by Visual Studio

  I am trying to use MSBuild in a TFS Build file to create click once files for my application. According to MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165431.aspx) it seems that the project file's click once settings should be used unless you override them with property arguments on the command line. However, even though I have specified (in VS) that some prerequisites should be bootstrapped in with the setup, they don't seem to get installed if I use the MSBuild command line to create the package, even though they do seem to get installed if I use Visual Studio to create the ClickOnce package. Please could someone advise me how to get my prerequisites to get installed via ClickOnce when the clickonce package is built using the MSBuild command line? For information, in Visual Studio, project properties, "Publish" tab, "Prerequisite" button, I have ticked "Create setup program to install prerequisite components", I have ticked my pre-requisites and I have specified "Download prerequisites from the component vendor's web site"

• Translate ImageButton from C# to XAML

  I worked out the C# code to create an ImageButton (below) that has three images (one base-image and two overlays) and three text boxes as the face of the button. I am inheriting from the Button class, which unfortunately includes several components that I didn't realize would surface until after coding and need to remove, namely the bright-blue surrounding border on IsMouseOver, and any visible borders between the buttons, as the buttons will end up in a wrapPanel and the borders need to be seamless. Now that the format has been worked out in C#, I expect that I need to translate to XAML so that I can create a ControlTemplate to get the functionality necessary, however I am not certain as to the process of translating from C# to XAML. • WPF Localization Using LocBaml: Handling Special Symbols

  Hello, I’m dealing with localization of a WPF application (Visual Studio 2010 under Windows 7). I’ve just accomplished the whole process of localization using LocBaml tool, as explained in WPF Globalization and Localization Overview and in related posts. The target language is Italian (it-IT culture). When I run my application in Italian, I have a problem with interpretation of the special symbols of © and ™: they both appear there as a white question sign upon a black diamond-shaped background. The symbols © and ™ appear identically in both English and Italian CSV-files. I tried also the special letters (such as È, à etc.) that are present in Italian but absent in English, and they also are interpreted as the above diamond-shaped question. In Region and Language, I changed the system locale to Italian[Italy], restarted the PC and ran the application again – this helped me in the past to cope with a similar problem in localization of C++ applications under Windows XP, but now it didn’t help, either. Has somebody any idea what is the catch here?

  Hi, I am writing clients in Java that store the data on a database server. So far, the IP and Port of the server has to be specified in the client's settings manually. I have heard, that it is possible to automatically determine the IP of database servers via broadcast / multicast / UDP (I am not familiar with these concepts). Question: Is there a way to retrieve the IP adresses of all available database-servers in the local network? I am working with the h2 database system so far. Bye, Wolfgang

• what does "Net user administrator /active:yes" do to a computer?

  i just purchased a new laptop and had some issues with it... I called tech support and they had me run this command in cmd prompt by right clicking the cmd icon and selecting "run as administrator" with root C:\windows\system32: "Net user administrator /active:no" after it was determined that it didn't fix the issue we ran this code "Net user administrator /active:yes" i then rebooted..and was asked for my windows login for my user account "Rees" as usual.. however ALL my settings where gone (including my desktop files) as though it was the first time I booted up. WHAT in the world happened with this command?? I desperately NEED my user accounts and files back to how they were!! (running windows 7) Please help!
