  hello. im working on a online game. i got some problems with inserting new data to table. im getting 2010-4-8 2:14, *** 37000, 513, [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]A column insert or update conflicts with a rule imposed by a previous CREATE RULE statement. The statement was terminated. The conflict occurred in database 'KN_online', table 'ACCOUNT_CHAR', column 'strAccountID'., 261 NationSelect*** this error in logs. what does this means? how can i fix this? i've tried to delete RULE for my DB but I'm unable to delete RULE. im getting the rule 'dbo.unallowedchars' cannot be dropped because it is bounded to one or more clumn. I set all permissions right but its still not working.. thanks..

  I'm trying to implement sieve of Eratosthenes in Clojure. One approach I would like to test is this: Get range (2 3 4 5 6 ... N) For 2 <= i <= N Pass my range through filter that removes multiplies of i For i+1th iteration, use result of the previous filtering I know I could do it with loop/recur, but this is causing stack overflow errors (for some reason tail call optimization is not applied). How can I do it iteratively? I mean invoking N calls to the same routine, passing result of ith iteration to i+1th.

• Outputing resized animated gif to browser using imagick

My problem is that when I save the resized image it is of good quality, but if I echo it to the browser it is of poor quality and the animation is removed. • Custom field not showing in Custom Content Type

  Hi all: I created a custom column in a custom content type in a Sharepoint Web manually (e.g. /MySite/MyWeb). I now want to programmatically copy this content type across to another web (e.g. /MySite/MyWeb2). However, upon looping through the custom content type in code, I could only find 2 fields: Content Type and Title (expected: Title and custom column). The custom column was missing. I'm very sure that the content type and field are added at the web level. The custom content type is inherited from Item. When I loop through the web's fields, I can see the custom column, and that was copied to the new web. It is only within the content type that the custom column is not showing up. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

  In my python script, I need to call within a for loop an executable, and waiting for that executable to write the result on the "output.xml". How do I manage to use wait() & how do I know when one of my executable is finished generating the result to get the result? • Basic Profanity Filter in Objective C for iPhone

  How have you like minded individuals tackled the basic challenge of filtering profanity, obviously one can't possibly tackle every scenario but it would be nice to have one at the most basic level as a first line of defense. In Obj-c I've got NSString *tokens = [text componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; And then I loop through each token to see if any of the keywords (I've got about 400 in a list) are found within each token. Realising False positives are also a problem, if the word is a perfect match, its flagged as profanity otherwise if more than 3 words with profanity are found without being perfect matches it is also flagged as profanity. Later on I will use a webservice that tackles the problem more precisely, but I really just need something basic. So if you wrote the word penis it would go yup naughty naughty, bad word written.

• Why Switch/Case and not If/Else If?

  This question in mainly pointed at C/C++, but I guess other languages are relevant as well. I can't understand why is switch/case still being used instead of if/else if. It seems to me much like using goto's, and results in the same sort of messy code, while the same results could be acheived with if/else if's in a much more organized manner. Still, I see these blocks around quite often. A common place to find them is near a message-loop (WndProc...), whereas these are among the places when they raise the heaviest havoc: variables are shared along the entire block, even when not propriate (and can't be initialized inside it). Extra attention has to be put on not dropping break's, and so on... Personally, I avoid using them, and I wonder wether I'm missing something? Are they more efficient than if/else's? Are they carried on by tradition?

  From the preface of the second edition of Kernighan and Ritchie's "The C Programming Language": As before, all examples have been tested directly from the text, which is in machine-readable form. That quote threw me for a loop. What exactly does it mean? Was the original manuscript written as a literate program? My first thought was that this book, published in 1988 (original, first edition in 1978) predates literate programming, but now I'm not so sure. Can anybody shed some light on this?

  I want to create an interactive website using aspx and ajax, that there will be an option to create chess game room for example and other players will be able to join. I have 2 Questions: I wonder if you have any idea how can I make that after one player clicks on a button and finish his turn, the other player will be able to do a move. After the first player finish his turn I will change the turn by using the database, but the point is how can I refresh the other player's site so when the other one finish his turn, the turn will come to the second player? When someone creates a room and than close his browser - I need that room to be closed. Shall I use the Session_OnEnd to close the room he opened? Thanks!

• C#, WindowsForms difference to simple Console App

  Hi there, I currently started to "port" my console projects to WinForms, but it seems I am badly failing doing that. I am simply used to a console structure: I got my classes interacting with each other depending on the input coming from the console. A simple flow: Input -> ProcessInput -> Execute -> Output -> wait for input Now I got this big Form1.cs (etc.) and the "Application.Run(Form1);" But I really got no clue how my classes can interact with the form and create a flow like I described above. I mean, I just have these "...._Click(object sender....)" for each "item" inside the form. Now I do not know where to place / start my flow / loop, and how my classes can interact with the form. thanks and regards daemonfire

• Ruby: change each value in a hash with something like #collect for arrays?

  Hi! I'd like to replace each value in a hash with value.some_method. For example in a simple hash {"a" = "b", "c" = "d"} every value should be .upcase-d so it looks like {"a" = "B", "c" = "D"}. I tried #collect and #map but always just get arrays back. Is there an 'elegant' way to do this?   In my application one player and 10 targets are there. Each target appears one after the other (from target1 to target10). It's a shooting game. If we hit the first target then second target will come. The targets have properties like name, speedOfGunDraw, probability to hit the player, speedOfFire. It should report the number of rows with the same values for (green.h.0, green.v.0, and offset.0) by only looking at the previous rows. The example above uses the expected values, but assume they are incorrect. How can I add a new column (say "count") which will count all previous rows which have the same values of the specified variables? I have gotten help on a similar problem of just selecting all rows with the same values for specified columns, so I supposed I could just write a loop around that, but it seems inefficient to me.

  Greetings, I have some control which display bunch of textblocks and image. I would like the image to be surrounded by text. I have already implemented some functionality by using FlowDocument and custom bindable run control. (These controls are included inside user control). When I generate lots of these controls in treeview, application goes into infinite loop. I asked on forums before about this problem and the answer was that it can be WPF issue. Howver when I removed bindable run from my user control, problem dissappeared. Now I am trying to implement other solution where image will be surrounded by text. Can someone please help me? I'd like to know the 'right' way to do attach a click event to a bunch of elements, but then know in the event handler which one of my elements was clicked. I've come up with the following: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.attachImgHandlers = function () { $j(".carouselItem").bind("click", this, function(e){ e.data.openCarouselImage(e) }); } I then have the following in my event handler: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.openCarouselImage = function(e) { var img = e.currentTarget; // Do stuff to the image element }; Is this 'right'?   Hi all, I am working on an artificial intelligence project which is a logic game and aims two user connecting to the server on the network who acts as an Admin and then start to play one by one. In order to create connections, i have a server code which is just listening on localhost:8000 and assigning team values to the clients as they arrive. After connecting, clients make their move under Admin's control. The question is that when i try to put my code to work in the browser it fails with the following error: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:8000 connect,resolve) Even though i have created my own policy, first granting only Socket access permission to the codebase of my project folder (file:///home/xxx/projects/-), after it didnt work i granted all permissions from all codebase. I tried placing my policy file both in the home directory and in the same directory where my applet code resides. Appreciate any tips, thanks.

• Flash causing jerky javascript animations

  Hi Guys, I'm developing a site which has a flash background playing a small video loop scaled to fill the whole background. Over the top I have a number of HTML elements which are animated using javascript. The problem I am having is that (predominantly in FF, but also in others to a lesser degree) the flash seems to be causing my javascript animations to run rather jerky, and in some cases missing the animation altogether and just jumping to the end state. Does anybody have any thoughts on how to make the 2 work together nicely? Many thanks Matt

  In SQL, it is obvious that whenever we want to do a search on millions of record, say CustomerID in a Transactios table, then we want to add an index for CustomerID. Is another situation we want to add an index to a field when we need to do inner join or outer join using that field as a criteria? Such as Inner join on t1.custumerID = t2.customerID. Then if we don't have an index on customerID on both tables, we are looking at O(n^2) because we need to loop through the 2 tables sequentially. If we have index on customerID on both tables, then it becomes O( (log n) ^ 2 ) and it is much faster. Any other situation where we want to add an index to a field in a table? What about adding index for 2 fields combined in a table. That is, one index, for 2 fields together?

• PHP: how to stop ignore_user_abort, is it a good solution for long run program

  let say i have send email program which need to run arround 7 hours. but i cant open the browser for 7 hours beside cronjob, ignore_user_abort() will it be a solution? will the script stop when all email has sent and the program has finish the loop? or it will keep eating the server memory? some people said u may need to add some output at the end of the program to avoid the program run forever? and some people also said echo a litte bit string will not stop the script, but has to use ob_flush, any example for this?
