  • Easiest way to convert json data into objects with methods attached?

    What's the quickest and easiest way to convert my json, containing the data of the objects, into actual objects with methods attached? By way of example, I get data for a fruitbowl with an array of fruit objects which in turn contain an array of seeds thus: {"fruitbowl": [{ "name": "apple", "color": "red", "seeds": [] },{ "name": "orange", "color": "orange", "seeds": [ {"size":"small","density":"hard"}, {"size":"small","density":"soft"} ]} } That's all nice and good but down on the client we do stuff with this fruit, like eat it and plant trees... var fruitbowl = [] function Fruit(name, color, seeds){ this.name = name this.color = color this.seeds = seeds this.eat = function(){ // munch munch } } function Seed(size, density){ this.size = size this.density = density this.plant = function(){ // grow grow } } My ajax's success routine currently is currently looping over the thing and constructing each object in turn and it doesn't handle the seeds yet, because before I go looping over seed constructors I'm thinking Is there not a better way? success: function(data){ fruitbowl.length = 0 $.each(data.fruitbowl, function(i, f){ fruitbowl.push(new Fruit(f.name, f.color, f.seeds)) }) I haven't explored looping over the objects as they are and attaching all the methods. Would that work?

As you can see, i'm sending an integer the "from" variable, the PHP file: $articles = $mysqli->query("SELECT mainPictureBig, title, writer, writeDate, link FROM articles WHERE category=$id ORDER BY writeDate DESC LIMIT $from,10"); It's also working, but not loading the next 10, only the next 9. So it skips the very next row and loads the rows only after the very first, so only 9. I tried to write here only the important part of the code, so i skipped some echo part etc. Any idea?

  • Checking if radio buttons are checked in Firefox

    On my site, I have two checkboxes created in my ASP.NET MVC view like so: Html.RadioButton("check", "true", "true" == (string) ViewData["someKey"], new { id = "check1"}); Html.RadioButton("check", "false", "false" == (string) ViewData["someKey"], new { id = "check2"}); I am positive that ViewData["someKey"] has the value "true" in it. In my JS init function, I perform the following check: alert($('#check1').is(':checked') + " " + $('#check2').is(':checked')); In Firefox (and only Firefox), my alert dialog will show the following (it works as expected in every other browser): Initial page load: true false Normal refresh via Ctrl + R: false false Refresh skipping cache via Ctrl + Shift + R: true false I have tried many different methods of looking at the checkbox value, including $('#check1').attr('checked') without success. If I examine the HTML in Firebug, I can see that the first radio button has the property checked="checked" in it. Why is the checkbox value changing in FF when I refresh, and how can I mitigate this? Since this seems to be a FF-only bug, how can I change my code to make it work? This SO question seemed to ask something similar, but none of the proposed solutions seem to work in this case. Edit: I should also point out that when the radio button is rendered after the refresh in FF, it's not actually being displayed as checked either, despite what the HTML is telling me.   • How to keep current selection for jqGrid pulldown edit

    When editing cells in jqGrid, specifically using a select pull-down to edit a cell, how does one make the current selection the current choice for that cell? In my page I have a cell where edittype:'select' is set but when one clicks on that row the value for that cells automatically changes to the first entry that my AJAX call returns. Is there something within JQGrid that needs to be set or does the object I send to jqGrid have to be of a certain format to do so?

  • is it possible to start coda slider on a hidden div?

    i have a div id=holder, and inside a coda slider. it works alright, but to avoid the flickering in certain browsers, i decided to make holder display:none, and then display:block on $(document).ready The problem is that, for some reason, when the parent div is display:none, the coda slider doesnt have any effect. any workarounds or ideas for this issue? thanks!

  • On Click alert if $.get returns a value, if not, submit the form

    If the submit button is clicked, prevent the default action and see if the field 'account_name' is already in use. If the $.get() returns a result, alert the user of the results. If it doesn't, submit form with id="add_account_form". My problem is that my else{} statement is not submitting the form. I get no response when submit is clicked & there is no value returned.   • Ajax Post Request Returns JSON but Deferred Fails

    I have a cross-domain POST request to http://api.local/user/auth - my API endpoint. I allow Cross Domain requests in my api with CORS. Using Chrome if that makes a difference. I get a valid server JSON response with 200 Status Code but I am using deferreds from a backbone model like so: @model.save() .fail(-> console.log 'sync fail') .success -> console.log 'sync OK' And I consistently get a 'sync fail' instead of the expected 'sync OK' Thoughts?

For general formatted debug output, though, I want to use ::NKDbgPrintfW directly and wonder if someone knows if it compiles to a nop in optimised release builds or if my own macro wrapper around it with #ifdef DEBUG is still needed?

  • String.fromCharCode & CharacterSets

    Hi Folks, I recently tried to mirror some input within input(text) fields. Using String.fromCharCode(event.which) for instance, translates all 'standard' characters correctly. Well it translates them all to uppercase, but that you can easily catch by looking up the shift key aswell. My Problem is, it can't translate characters like dots, commas, questionmarks etc. First guess was that I have to define a character encoding set, but that does not seem to help.     I am working with d3.js for rendering my graphs. For some reason, I am not a huge fan of svg title because of the delay it incurs and the inability to style them. Please do correct me if I am wrong. I recently came across, tipsy but it does not seem to be cross-browser compatible. For instance, consider this. The tooltips work just fine in Firefox and Chrome but do not appear even in IE 9 and I'm not sure what's going on. Is there a cleaner cross-browser approach for tooltips compatible with d3.js other than using the svg title attribute?
