• Creating a templated silverlight control that has a story board.

  I'm trying to create a templated silverlight control that has a simple animation (swap a few color properties). An example would be a control that is similar to the 'questions' menu item in stackoverflow. So the consumer of the control can specify the background color and the background color for the mouseover event. I've run into the issue that I can't use template binding for a storyboard animation (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1336689/is-it-possible-to-use-templatebinding-in-a-storyboard-in-silverlight). • g:countrySelect with full country name as value

  I want to store the exact country name using g:countrySelect. Example Germany instead of DEU. It is the value in the drop down menu. The drop down text is Germany but when it saves it to the database it changes back to the country code. Sorry if I am somewhat naive but I have been searching for almost 3 hours for solutions and it isn't well documented at the grails website. I could opt for any alternative even ajax. Just to have an easy way to display a list of countries and will be able to store the REAL NAME of the country NOT country code. Thank you!

I can't use the batch feature because the files don't start or end with the same characters e.g. 001...100. Any ideas/

• [Linux] Coding a GTK+ application without window manager?

  Hi, I want to code sth. that basically works like TiVo. Switch it on, you only see the menu or an output, so no underlying OS or anything else is directly visible to the user. So I want to use Linux as base. Can you suggest a good base distribution? Can I code a frontend without having a window-manager up and running? If yes, is that possible with java-gnome or what language/gui-framework combination would you suggest? If no, what's the minimal window manager that can handle fancy menus, etc? What does it take to create video-overlays over a HD-stream? Are there some libraries I should take a look at? Thanks

  I need to learn about the Diameter Protocol and its use in different devices. I want to install a Diameter Server, some kind of client that uses Diameter Protocol to authenticate, and then start tweaking things. http://www.opendiameter.org has gone dark (although the sourceforge page still exists).   Whenever I start up my laptop with Xubuntu on it, a Terminal window opens and just sits in the taskbar - as though I opened it myself. Anyone know if there's some sort of list of applications which open at boot time. Maybe Terminal got on that list somehow?

• Closing several android activities simultaneously

  In my application you can navigate through several Activities until the Activity stack is quite deep. We'd like a button on every Activity that will take you straight back to the main menu - i.e. pop all Activities from the stack except the first one. I've put the button in a View that I can easily put on every Activity in the application, but I can't figure out how to close several Activities in one fell swoop. (If possible, it would be good if the View could work out how many Activities to close by itself - i.e. detect how deep on the stack its own Activity is.)

  I'm trying to implement my own version of the 'cd' command that presents the user with a list of hard-coded directories to choose from, and the user has to enter a number corresponding to an entry in the list. The program, named my_cd.py for now, should then effectively 'cd' the user to the chosen directory. Example of how this should work: /some/directory $ my_cd.py 1) ~ 2) /bin/ 3) /usr Enter menu selection, or q to quit: 2 /bin $ Currently, I'm trying to 'cd' using os.chdir('dir'). However, this doesn't work, probably because my_cd.py is kicked off in its own child process.   It is known that when you create a shortcut and place it in the desktop or program menu directory in a VS setup project, you should also set an icon for it. If not, the default icon will be displayed. However it is natural to think that icons to the files of the registered type (such as pdf, txt, doc, etc.), should be taken from the OS after installation. What I want: What I get: How to implement this? PS: Of course, I can get the pdf and txt icons from somewhere, add them to the VS project and set to the shortcuts, but I believe that there should be a better solution.

• Why does Windows Explorer search freeze when I have an unrelated program paused in a debugger

  While debugging my program, whether it's an ASP.NET application or a .NET console EXE and I have the debugger paused at a breakpoint I try to find a file in Windows Explorer. Either pressing WinKey+F or selecting search from the context menu freezes Windows Explorer - until I resume the program being debugged. My program has nothing to do with Windows Explorer! In fact, this happens in Visual Studio 2008 even with the simplest console EXE (WriteLine and ReadLine). I can't repro it with this simple EXE in WinDbg, but it does happen in with WinDb debugging an ASP.NET app. Why does this happen and how do I fix it? It's bloody annoying, especially when you don't realise what's going on. This is on Windows XP x64 SP2, running a .NET 3.5 application.

I added "Choice Filter" webpart for month and set connection to list (this works). I added second "Choice Filter" for year and I wanted to do the same. However, I cannot set connection to list, because mylist is disabled in webpart menu "Edit-Connections-Send filter values to". How can I apply 2 filtering criteria? Thanks, Juraj

  I have ftp access to a server I do not control. I'd like to start sending archives of my server's FS to that ftp. The problem is I don't have enough free space on my system to create a backup archive first (and store it on my fs) and then send it to ftp. So I'm wondering if it is possible to do something like this: tar -jcpvf - / | ftp-put ftp://user:pass@host/file.tbz Normally there is no problem doing it over ssh, but in this case I only have ftp available.

  Hi! I want to include an initialized data structure in my request object, making it accessible in the context object from my templates. What I'm doing right now is passing it manually and tiresome within all my views: render_to_response(...., ( {'menu': RequestContext(request)})) The request object contains the key,value pair which is injected using a custom context processor. While this works, I had hoped there was a more generic way of passing selected parts of the request object to the template context. I've tried passing it by generic views, but as it turns out the request object isn't instantiated when parsing the urlpatterns list.

Looking at the LibraryMenu Method, the first case where you create an array in the switch statement works fine, however the other ones create a "cannot find symbol error" when I try to compile. • Easy to use booking software?

  Looking for an easy to use B&B booking software that will allow the owner to schedule and rent rooms. It would ideally have a windows client (with cloud sync) and thinking mobile app for reminders and such. Calendar with automatic scheduling of some sort would be great too. Anyone heard of something along these lines? If not - any suggestions of API's or services that one could start with to roll their own solution?

• Mac OS X Services: enable without user interaction?

  I wrote a simple Mac 'Service' for Finder, that executes a command. Basically: this adds a ContextMenu in Finder. If I right-click a file in Finder, a menu item pops up. If the user clicks it, it executes my script. (kind of like 'Send to Bluetooth device, ...') In OS X Leopard (10.5) and earlier, all services are enabled. In 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Apple changed the behavior, services now have preferences, and can be enabled or disabled by the user. (which is a good thing) However, I wrote the service, but there seems to be no way to enable it automatically (in our installer). I tried doing it with Applescript, going to the System Preferences and ticking the checkbox that way, but it requires some accessibility features to be turned on. (off by default). Is it possible? If so, how? Or do I need something else to provide Context Menus in Finder.

• Xen command xl doesn't create a vm but xend/xm does

  I'm a newbie to Xen, and I've recently installed Xen 4.2 by sources on my system. I've found a strange thing I've a VM when I start it via the command "xm create machine.cfg" all work fine, but if I use "xl create machine.cfg" it gives me the following error xc: error: panic: xc_dom_core.c:442: xc_dom_alloc_segment: segment ramdisk too large (0x4ba 0x2000 - 0x1bd9 pages): Out of memory libxl: error: libxl_dom.c:208:libxl__build_pv xc_dom_build_image failed: Invalid argument cannot (re-)build domain: -3 xenconsole: Could not read tty from store: No such file or directory What could be the problem? Any idea?
