  • Multiple actions upon a case statement in Haskell

    - by Schroedinger
    One last question for the evening, I'm building the main input function of my Haskell program and I have to check for the args that are brought in so I use args <- getArgs case length args of 0 -> putStrLn "No Arguments, exiting" otherwise -> { other methods here} Is there an intelligent way of setting up other methods, or is it in my best interest to write a function that the other case is thrown to within the main? Or is there an even better solution to the issue of cases. I've just got to take in one name.

  • can lapply not modify variables in a higher scope

    - by stevejb
    I often want to do essentially the following: mat <- matrix(0,nrow=10,ncol=1) lapply(1:10, function(i) { mat[i,] <- rnorm(1,mean=i)}) But, I would expect that mat would have 10 random numbers in it, but rather it has 0. (I am not worried about the rnorm part. Clearly there is a right way to do that. I am worry about affecting mat from within an anonymous function of lapply) Can I not affect matrix mat from inside lapply? Why not? Is there a scoping rule of R that is blocking this?

Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to grab data from webpage in Chrome and output into Chrome extension popup?

    - by chimerical
    For a Google Chrome extension, none of the Javascript I write to manipulate the DOM of the extension popup.html seems to have any effect on the popup's DOM. I can manipulate the DOM of the current webpage in the browser just fine by using content_script.js, and I'm interested in grabbing data from the webpage and outputting it into the extension popup, like so (below: popup.html): <div id="extensionpopupcontent">Links</div> <a onclick="click()">Some Link</a> <script type="text/javascript"> function click() { chrome.tabs.executeScript(null, {file: "content_script.js"}); document.getElementById("extensionpopupcontent").innerHTML = variableDefinedInContentScript; window.close(); } </script> I tried using chrome.extension.sendRequest from the documentation at http://code.google.com/chrome/extensions/messaging.html, but I'm not sure how to properly use it in my case, specifically the greeting and the response. contentscript.js ================ chrome.extension.sendRequest({greeting: "hello"}, function(response) { console.log(response.farewell); });

  • Proper way to assert type of variable in Python

    - by Morlock
    In using a function, I wish to ensure that the type of the variables are as expected. How to do it right? Here is an example fake function trying to do just this before going on with its role: def my_print(text, begin, end): """Print text in UPPER between 'begin' and 'end' in lower """ for i in (text, begin, end): assert type(i) == type("") out = begin.lower() + text.upper() + end.lower() print out Is this approach valid? Should I use something else than type(i) == type("") ? Should I use try/except instead? Thanks pythoneers

  • Flex: Unexpected leakage with RemoteObject + IExternalizable?

    - by David Wolever
    I've been tinkering with IExternalizable, but I've noticed some unexpected behavior. I've got this class: public function readExternal(input:IDataInput):void { input.readObject(); input.readObject(); input.readObject(); } public function writeExternal(output:IDataOutput):void { output.writeObject("first string"); output.writeObject(424242); output.writeObject("second string"); } But when I try to serialize this class using AMF and send it to a remote server (via RemoteObject), Charles shows me that the request looks like this: But it seems wrong that my serialized object is leaking out into the rest of the request. So, what am I doing wrong? Is there some part of the documentation I've missed?

  • ForceContext Queries method twice?

    - by azz0r
    Hello, I'm doing a per minute script, to output the xml that a server will read, I am used forceContext. <?php class My_Controller_Action_Helper_ForceContext extends Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_ContextSwitch { public function initContext($format = null) { $request = $this->getRequest(); $action = $request->getActionName(); $context = $this->getActionContexts($action); //check if this is the only context if(count($context) === 1) { $format = $context[0]; } return parent::initContext($format); } } class Video_PerMinuteController extends Zend_Controller_Action { function init() { $contextSwitch = $this->_helper->getHelper('ForceContext'); $contextSwitch->addActionContext('transaction', 'xml')->initContext(); In my method, it gets the current minute count, adds 1, then saves. So I can clearly see when its accessed more than once in a minute. If I comment out the second contextSwitch line, it only goes up 1, if Its not, it displays the xml page but adds 2 minutes (being called twice somehow). Any ideas?

  • Drupal 7: File field causes error with Dependable Dropdowns

    - by LoneWolfPR
    I'm building a Form in a module using the Form API. I've had a couple of dependent dropdowns that have been working just fine. The code is as follows: $types = db_query('SELECT * FROM {touchpoints_metric_types}') -> fetchAllKeyed(0, 1); $types = array('0' => '- Select -') + $types; $selectedType = isset($form_state['values']['metrictype']) ? $form_state['values']['metrictype'] : 0; $methods = _get_methods($selectedType); $selectedMethod = isset($form_state['values']['measurementmethod']) ? $form_state['values']['measurementmethod'] : 0; $form['metrictype'] = array( '#type' => 'select', '#title' => t('Metric Type'), '#options' => $types, '#default_value' => $selectedType, '#ajax' => array( 'event' => 'change', 'wrapper' => 'method-wrapper', 'callback' => 'touchpoints_method_callback' ) ); $form['measurementmethod'] = array( '#type' => 'select', '#title' => t('Measurement Method'), '#prefix' => '<div id="method-wrapper">', '#suffix' => '</div>', '#options' => $methods, '#default_value' => $selectedMethod, ); Here are the _get_methods and touchpoints_method_callback functions: function _get_methods($selected) { if ($selected) { $methods = db_query("SELECT * FROM {touchpoints_m_methods} WHERE mt_id=$selected") -> fetchAllKeyed(0, 2); } else { $methods = array(); } $methods = array('0' => "- Select -") + $methods; return $methods; } function touchpoints_method_callback($form, &$form_state) { return $form['measurementmethod']; } This all worked fine until I added a file field to the form. Here is the code I used for that: $form['metricfile'] = array( '#type' => 'file', '#title' => 'Attach a File', ); Now that the file is added if I change the first dropdown it hangs with the 'Please wait' message next to it without ever loading the contents of the second dropdown. I also get the following error in my JavaScript console: "Uncaught TypeError: Object function (a,b){return new p.fn.init(a,b,c)} has no method 'handleError'" What am I doing wrong here?

  • maintain dialog center with dynamic content

    - by mcgrailm
    I would have a dialog with the following $("#statusbox").dialog({ autoOpen: false, bgiframe: true, modal: true, width: 'auto', height:'auto', title:"Check Order Status", buttons: { Find: function() { get_status(); }, Close: function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); and when the user hits the find button it runs ajax and returns orders to the dialog and it get dynamically re-sized but it only extends the box down. Is there way to make the box extend up and down so that the dialog remains centered ? also if there was enough content then it could potentially go beyond the bounds of the page so I would think I could use a max height to prevent that but what do I do if they re-size the window ? thanks for any help

  • Logical python question - handling directories and files in them

    - by Konstantin
    Hello! I'm using this function to extract files from .zip archive and store it on the server: def unzip_file_into_dir(file, dir): import sys, zipfile, os, os.path os.makedirs(dir, 0777) zfobj = zipfile.ZipFile(file) for name in zfobj.namelist(): if name.endswith('/'): os.mkdir(os.path.join(dir, name)) else: outfile = open(os.path.join(dir, name), 'wb') outfile.write(zfobj.read(name)) outfile.close() And the usage: unzip_file_into_dir('/var/zips/somearchive.zip', '/var/www/extracted_zip') somearchive.zip have this structure: somearchive.zip 1.jpeg 2.jpeg another.jpeg or, somethimes, this one: somearchive.zip somedir/ 1.jpeg 2.jpeg another.jpeg Question is: how do I modify my function, so that my extracted_zip catalog would always contain just images, not images in another subdirectory, even if images are stored in somedir inside an archive.

  • Problem with a SQL statement

    - by benwad
    I'm trying to enter values into a database table using a form and a PHP function. The PHP seems to be fine as the SQL statement it creates looks okay, but the database always throws up an error. This is the SQL statement that my code has generated (with arbitrary values): INSERT INTO Iteminfo ('itemName', 'itemSeller', 'itemCategory', 'itemDescription', 'itemPrice', 'itemPostage', 'itemBegin', 'itemEnd', 'buynow', 'itemPicture') values ('gorillaz album', 'ben', 'music', 'new one ', '5.00', '1.00', '2010-03-15 14:59:51', '2010-03-16 14:59:51', '0', 'http://www.thefader.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/gorillaz-plastic-beach.jpg') This throws up an error both when I use the PHP function to evaluate the query and also when I use phpMyAdmin to enter the query manually. However, I can't see anything wrong with it. Can anyone shed some light on this? All of the fields are VARCHAR values, except for itemPrice and itemPostage (which are stored as DECIMAL(4,2)) and the itemBegin and itemEnd, which are stored as DATETIMEs.

  • How can I populate highchart jQuery plugin dynamically from MVC action?

    - by Anders Svensson
    I'm trying out the Highcharts jQuery plugin for creating charts of data in an MVC application. But I need to get the data for the function dynamically from an Action Method. How can I do that? Taking the example from the Highcharts site (http://highcharts.com/documentation/how-to-use): var chart1; // globally available $(document).ready(function() { chart1 = new Highcharts.Chart({ chart: { renderTo: 'chart-container-1', defaultSeriesType: 'bar' }, title: { text: 'Fruit Consumption' }, xAxis: { categories: ['Apples', 'Bananas', 'Oranges'] }, yAxis: { title: { text: 'Fruit eaten' } }, series: [{ name: 'Jane', data: [1, 0, 4] }, { name: 'John', data: [5, 7, 3] }] }); }); How can I get the data in there dynamically from the action method? Someone suggested I might use JSon, but couldn't specify how. If this is the case, I would really appreciate a simple and specific example, because I don't know much about JSon. Any help appreciated!

  • Spring 3 - Custom Security

    - by Eqbal
    I am in the process of converting a legacy application from proprietary technology to a Spring based web app, leaving the backend system as is. The login service is provided by the backend system through a function call that takes in some parameter (username, password plus some others) and provides an output that includes the authroizations for the user and other properties like firstname, lastname etc. What do I need to do to weave this into Spring 3.0 security module. Looks like I need to provide a custom AuthenticationProvider implementation (is this where I call the backend function?). Do I also need a custom User and UserDetailsService implementation which needs loadUserByName(String userName)? Any pointers on good documentation for this? The reference that came with the download is okay, but doesn't help too much in terms of implementing custom security.

  • Validate a string in a table in SQL Server

    - by Ashish Gupta
    I need to check If a column value (string) in SQL server table starts with a small letter and can only contain '_', '-', numbers and alphabets. I know I can use a SQL server CLR function for that. However, I am trying to implement that validation using a scalar UDF and could make very little here...I can use 'NOT LIKE', but I am not sure how to make sure I validate the string irrespective of the order of characters or in other words write a pattern in SQL for this. Am I better off using a SQL CLR function? Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks in advance

  • jQuery Ajax works in Firefox, fails in IE when calling Controller action

    - by myaesubi
    Hello there, I'm making the following jQuery ajax call to an action in ASP.NET MVC. In Firefox the async request is sent to the action in the controller and everything works fine, but in IE no request is sent to the controller. • How to keep submit button visible and executable upon textarea onblur

    - by ninumedia
    I have a <div id="comment_posting_holder"> tag that holds a form with two elements: a textarea box and a submit button. I want to have the div tag (containing the textarea and submit button) disappear if I click somewhere "OTHER" than the submit button. I have a start for the code below. So upon leaving focus from the textarea, I can make the div tag disappear. I tried placing in a mouseclick event inside the blur function for the submit button but that did not work. Any suggestions? Thank you! **Facebook does this with it's comments. If you click on a "Post your comment..." field the textarea appears and then it will disappear upon losing focus other than if you pressed the submit button. $('textarea').blur(function() { $('#comment_posting_holder).hide(); });

  • php - preg_replace not working when string contains a hashtag

  • Date javascript object from IE cannot be automatically bound to Datetime in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Sergio
    Hi There, I have a site that uses a jquery calendar to display events. I have noticed than when using the system from within IE (all versions) ASP.NET MVC will fail to bind the datetime to the action that send back the correct events. The sequence of events goes as follows. Calendar posts to server to get events Server ActionMethod accepts start and end date, automatically bound to datetime objects In every browser other than IE the start and end date come through as: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 GMT When IE posts the date, it comes through as Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 UTC ASP.NET MVC 2 will then fail to automatically bind this to the action method parameter. Is there a reason why this is happening? The code that posts to the server is as follows: data: function (start, end, callback) { $.post('/tracker/GetTrackerEvents', { start: start.toUTCString(), end: end.toUTCString() }, function (result) { callback(result); }); },

  • Typescript + requirejs: How to handle circular dependencies?

    - by Aymeric Gaurat-Apelli
    I am in the process of porting my JS+requirejs code to typescript+requirejs. One scenario I haven't found how to handle is circular dependencies. Require.js returns undefined on modules that are also dependent on the current and to solve this problem you can do: MyClass.js define(["Modules/dataModel"], function(dataModel){ return function(){ dataModel = require("Modules/dataModel"); ... } }); Now in typescript, I have: MyClass.ts import dataModel = require("Modules/dataModel"); class MyClass { dataModel: any; constructor(){ this.dataModel = require("Modules/dataModel"); // <- this kind of works but I lose typechecking ... } } How to call require a second time and yet keep the type checking benefits of typescript? dataModel is a module { ... }

  • OSMF - add an actionscript cuepoint to a video?

    - by redconservatory
    I'm trying to add a cuepoint to a video using OSMF. I built an OSMF video player, and I'd like to use this instead of the FLVPlayback component, which seems like the only way to add an actionscript cuepoint? Anyhow, I created a cuepoint by writing this: var cuePoint:CuePoint = new CuePoint(CuePointType.ACTIONSCRIPT, 1, "good point", null); videoElement.addEventListener(MediaElementEvent.METADATA_ADD, onMetadataAdd); trace(cuePoint.time); The cuepoint time traced out to "1" (successful). I then took this code from the documentation, thinking it would help trace the cuepoint when I published my movie (to test the video) private function onMetadataAdd(event:MediaElementEvent):void { if (event.namespaceURL == CuePoint.DYNAMIC_CUEPOINTS_NAMESPACE) { var timelineMetadata:TimelineMetadata = videoElement.getMetadata(CuePoint.DYNAMIC_CUEPOINTS_NAMESPACE) as TimelineMetadata; timelineMetadata.addEventListener(TimelineMetadataEvent.MARKER_TIME_REACHED, onCuePoint); } } private function onCuePoint(event:TimelineMetadataEvent):void { var cuePoint:CuePoint = event.marker as CuePoint; trace("Cue Point at " + cuePoint.time); } However, I don't get a trace message when the video hits 1 second. Can anyone help me?
