  • Problem finding the difference in days between two dates

    - by James
    I have been using a tidy little routine that I found here to calculate the difference in days between two dates in AS3. I am getting some strange results and I am wondering if any of you inter-codal-mega-lords can shed some light? Why is Q1 of 2010 coming up one day short, when in all other cases the routine is performing fine? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help! function countDays( startDate:Date, endDate:Date ):int { var oneDay:int = 24*60*60*1000; // hours*minutes*seconds*milliseconds var diffDays:int = Math.abs((startDate.getTime() - endDate.getTime())/(oneDay)); return diffDays; } countDays( new Date( 2010, 00, 01 ), new Date( 2011, 00, 01 ) ); // returns 365, which is correct countDays( new Date( 2010, 00, 01 ), new Date( 2010, 03, 01 ) ); // returns 89, which is 1 day short countDays( new Date( 2010, 03, 01 ), new Date( 2010, 06, 01 ) ); // returns 91, which is correct countDays( new Date( 2010, 06, 01 ), new Date( 2010, 09, 01 ) ); // returns 92, which is correct countDays( new Date( 2010, 09, 01 ), new Date( 2011, 00, 01 ) ); // returns 92, which is correct

  • select2: "text is undefined" when getting json using ajax

    - by user3046715
    I'm having an issue when getting json results back to select2. My json does not return a result that has a "text" field so need to format the result so that select2 accepts "Name". This code works if the text field in the json is set to "text" but in this case, I cannot change the formatting of the json result (code outside my control). $("#e1").select2({ formatNoMatches: function(term) {return term +" does not match any items." }, ajax: { // instead of writing the function to execute the request we use Select2's convenient helper url: "localhost:1111/Items.json", dataType: 'jsonp', cache: true, quietMillis: 200, data: function (term, page) { return { q: term, // search term p: page, s: 15 }; }, results: function (data, page) { // parse the results into the format expected by Select2. var numPages = Math.ceil(data.total / 15); return {results: data.Data, numPages: numPages}; } } }); I have looked into the documentation and found some statements you can put into the results such as text: 'Name', but I am still getting "text is undefined". Thanks for any help.

  • Angular function constructor in Controller

    - by BigHeadCreations
    In normal JS I can do this: function Droppable() { this.relevant = true; this.uuid = generateUUID(); }; var generateUUID = function() { return '12345'; } console.log(new Droppable); // returns Droppable {relevant: true, uuid: "12345"} But in Angular I have this: angular.module('myApp').controller('MyCtrl', ['$scope', function($scope) { function Droppable() { this.relevant = true; this.uuid = generateUUID(); } var generateUUID = function() { return '12345'; } // initalize droppable areas $scope.region1 = [new Droppable]; $scope.region2 = [new Droppable]; $scope.region3 = [new Droppable]; }]); I am trying to make 3 droppable areas all with a UUID. But when I do this I get 'undefined is not a function' referring to the line this.uuid = generateUUID(); in function Droppable() {...} Why is that?

  • Create Clone Without Effecting Results of Original Object

    - by user1655096
    I have a function that when selecting an option, returns results. I want to be able to clone that function and have the ability to return another set of results, without adding the new results to the original object. // shows / hides results based on selection $(".categories-select").live("change" ,function(){ if($(this).val() == 'red'){ $('.red').removeClass('hide'); // toggles red results, sub menus $(this).parent('.controls').find('.sub').removeClass('hide'); } if($(this).val() == 'blue'){ $('.blue').removeClass('hide'); $(this).parent('.controls').find('.sub').addClass('hide'); } if($(this).val() == 'purple'){ $('.purple').removeClass('hide'); $(this).parent('.controls').find('.sub').addClass('hide'); } if($(this).val() == 'orange'){ $('.orange').removeClass('hide'); $(this).parent('.controls').find('.sub').addClass('hide'); } }); // Duplicates category select menu $(".add-color").find(function(){ $(".color-category").clone().removeClass('color-category').appendTo("#we-want-to").find('.sub,').addClass('hide') ; }); $(".add-color-alternate").click(function(){ $(".color-category-alternate").clone().removeClass('color-category-alternate').appendTo("#we-want-to").find('.sub, .results-table').addClass('hide'); });

  • Why can't I use relative URLs with IE7?

    - by gomezuk
    Hello everyone. I've been Googling for a while and can't seem to find an answer to this question. My problem is as follows: For my jquery, I need my links to be relative rather than absolute. My PHP is set to return relative urls and everything is working fine, until I test it in IE7. For some reason, IE7 keeps changing my relative urls to abosulute, which breaks my js script. Is this normal? Is there a way to get around it? For example: IE8, Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc - <a href='/page' onclick='click_handler(this);return false;'>clicky</a> IE7 - <a href='http://www.myurl.com/page' onclick='click_handler(this);return false;'>clicky</a>

  • How do you safely wrap a JS string variable in double quote chars?

    - by incombinative
    Obviously when you're creating an actual string literal yourself, you backslash escape the double quote characters yourself. var foo = "baz\"bat"; Just as you would with the handful of other control characters, like linebreaks and backslashes. var bar = "baz\\bat"; but when you already have a variable, and you're wrapping that existing variable in quote characters, there's some confusion. Obviously you have to escape any potential double quote characters that are in the string. (Assuming whatever system you're giving the explicitly quoted string to, needs to be able to parse them correctly. =) var doubleQuoteRe = /\"/g; var quoted = unquoted.replace(escaper, '\\\"'); However from there opinions diverge a little. In particular, according to some you also have to worry about escaping literal backslash characters in the variable. // now say i have a string bar, that has both single backslash character in it, // as well as a double-quote character in it. // the following code ONLY worries about escaping the double quote char. var quoted = bar.replace(doubleQuoteRe, '\\\"'); The above seems fine to me. But is there a problem im not seeing?

  • How do I find the previous/default value of a radio button in JS?

    - by royrules22
    I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I figured I'd ask before clubbing togehter an ugly solution. What I have is a group of radio buttons and I want to trigger a function if the radio button value is changed. For example say there are three buttons X Y and Z with Y default selected. If a user clicks on an unselected button (i.e. X or Z) then the function gets triggered but if he/she clicks on Y (which is already selected) nothing happens. Naturally the best solution would be to fire the function on an onchange event but IE6 doesn't fire onchange until the focus is no longer on the element which is not satisfactory. So is there a way to know what the previous value of the radio button was or at least what its default value is? I could easily create an array of default values and check against that but I'm trying to reduce the overhead. Please no jQuery suggestions ;)

  • How can I embed the result of a rails view in another website?

    - by NotDan
    I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application). For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page. What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine. Is this possible?

  • qx.ui.table.Table hangs my browser...

    - by W55tKQbuRu28Q4xv
    Hi all, I have a strange bug. I create a qx.ui.table.Table and if not all specified columns fit into window (horizontal scroll appear) my browsers (firefox 3.5.6 and chrome 5.0.344) hangs. If i just set width for window large (e.g. from 600px to 800px) - all works fine. May be I'm doing something wrong? Or how can I fix/avoid this 'strange' behaviour?

  • Image Preloading in Canvas

    - by smokinguns
    I'm drawing an Image on the canvas using the drawImage function. This is how Im setting the src property of the image: var img = new Image(); // Create new Image object img.src = 'test.php?filename=myfile.jpg' and then oCanvas.width = 600; oCanvas.height = 400; oContext.drawImage(img, 0, 0, 600, 400); The problem is that if the src isn't set then I get the foll error:"uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIDOMCanvasRenderingContext2D.drawImage]" . I know I get this error coz the image hasnt finished loading. I added an alert just before the call to drawImage function to let the image finish loading and it seems to work. But it's a pain in the neck. How do I check if the image has finished loading? BTW I have to set the src property by calling a php file.

  • Is window.location.href = 'some_page.html' followed by search engines?

    - by Arkaaito
    Currently our website uses links to allow the user to change their locale. The problem with this is that you get a lot of random outlinks from each page on the site to... the same page, in other languages. When a search engine traverses this, it gets an excessively complex view of the site. We were going to change it to a form post to avoid this. However, it seems to me that we should just be able to change it to an onclick="window.location.href='change_my_language.php'" rather than an href="change_my_language.php". Am I right? Or do the major search engines scan for and follow this sort of thing nowadays?

  • qTip with jQuery dialogs

    - by MikeWyatt
    I'm using qTip to show validation errors in a grid. The tooltip appears after a failed row save and doesn't disappear until the row is resaved or the changes are canceled. The problem with this is that opening a dialog while the tooltip is visible causes the tooltip to be rendered on top of the dialog. That is because the z-index is hard-coded to 6000+ for all tooltips, while jQuery dialogs are set to 1000+. I could fix this problem by changing the hard-coded value in qTip to <1000, but then tooltips fired from the dialog will appear behind the dialog. Is there anything I can do, aside from changing the qTip code or using a different tooltip library?

  • ctrl+click or shift+click not always firing the onclick event

    - by Erik
    Hi, I recently discovered that different browsers handle the onclick event differently when the control of shift key is pressed. Same thing for following links with the middle mouse button. <a href="http://www.example.com/" onclick="alert('onclick');">go to example.com</a> Onclick browser support table Mouse Keyboard Chrome Firefox Safari Opera IE5.5 IE6 IE7 IE8 IE9 Left None yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes Left Ctrl yes yes yes yes ? yes no no ? Left Shift yes yes yes yes ? yes yes yes ? Middle None yes no yes no ? N/A no no ? Can someone please fill in the question marks for me? Also; I'm wondering if the behaviour differs for each version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. Finding a logical pattern in this behaviour would be even nicer, but I don't think there is :). Thanks a lot.

  • JS. How to replace html element with another element/text, represented in string?

    - by EL 2002
    I have a problem with replacing html elements. For example, there is a table <table><tr><td id="idTABLE">0</td><td>END</td></tr></table> (it can be div, span, anything) And string in JS script var str='<td>1</td><td>2</td>'; (it can be anything, '123 text', '<span123 element</span 456' or ' <tr<td123</td ' or anything) How can I replace element 'idTABLE' with str? I mean really replace, so <table><tr><td id="__TABLE__">0</td><td>END</td></tr></table> becomes <table><tr><td>1</td><td>2</td><td>END</td></tr></table> //str='<td>1</td><td>2</td>'; <table><tr>123 text<td>END</td></tr></table> //'123 text' <table><tr> tr><td>123</td> <td>END</td></tr></table> //' <tr><td>123</td> ' I tried with createElement, replaceChild, cloneNode, but with no result at all =(

  • Cross-browser method for getting width and height of a DIV?

    - by thinkthank
    This is my first post, so please go easy on me. I'm sure I'm doing everything wrong. However, I couldn't find any posts that answered the question above. I use jQuery. I'm trying to find a way to get the current width and height of a DIV element, even if they're set to "auto". I've found many ways to do this, but no method returns the same width in IE. It is important that this method is cross-browser, as it will break the layout of the page if different numbers are returned in different browsers. .width() and .height() do not work because in IE, padding is subtracted (e.g. width() returns 25 where width is 30 and padding is 5). .outerWidth() and .outerHeight() are not consistent either. While they work IE (believe it or not) in FF, the padding is added again to the full width (e.g. outerWidth() returns 110 in FF where width is 100px and padding is 10px). Is there any way out of this mess without writing complex browser checks? Thanks!
