  • Creating a framework for ASP.NET web forms similar to Flex states.

    I really enjoy the flex states framework. You define a few states for your control, and then can set child controls to only appear in certain states. Check out this code: <s:states> <s:State name="signin"/> <s:State name="register"/> </s:states> <mx:FormItem label="Last name:" includeIn="register" id="lastNameItem" alpha="0.0"> <s:TextInput id="lastName" width="220"/> </mx:FormItem> Now the last name form will only appear in the register screen. This would be really useful I think in .NET where you use the page for views like update / insert. I was considering extending the Page element to have a states property using extension methods, and adding the include in to controls. This way I could auto-hide controls based on the current view at render time. What is even cooler in Flex, is that you can use different handlers / properties based on the current state. <s:Button label="Sign in" label.register="Register" id="loginButton" enabled="true" click.signin="signin()" click.register="register()"/> I'm sure there's a way I could implement something similar to this as well. Do you think this is a good idea? Or does it just add a level of abstraction to framework that already has a poor separation of concerns?

  • Openfire: Closing session due to incorrect hostname

    I have a fresh install on a windows sevrer 2008 box. I can connect adium to the server from a remote machine and from the admin console/sessions I can see my session. My friend can aslo connect and I can see his session. I can send an admin message out and both of us can see it in the adium clients. We can't see each other though. I also get these logs in the warn window in the log viewer: Closing session due to incorrect hostname in stream header. Host: prjatk.com. Connection: org.jivesoftware.openfire.net.SocketConnection@1b1fd9c socket: Socket[addr=/109.109.248.82,port=56258,localport=5269] session: null prjatk.com is the server - however in the server settings on the admin screen I see the computer name as the hostname - is that the issue? If so how can I change that?

  • How to have onSearchRequested not open a web browser.

    I have a button in my app. When it is pressed I call the onSearchRequested() method. When this is called the stock search box comes up so the user can type some junk in there. When they press "Go" I need the results returned back to my application but instead the stock browser is opened and a google search is performed. How can I tell it to return the results to my application instead.   • Advantages/disadvantages of Glassfish v3 Prelude vs Springsource dm server for Web applications?

    Both of these appservers are at least in part OSGI based. One (Glassfish) is obviously J2EE while the other isn't. Now I'm at the stage of choosing a platform for a new project and the natural choice is Glassfish v3 Prelude. This does raise the issue of perhaps we should be using S2AP instead. The question then is this: does the springsource dm server offer any compelling reason to use it over Glassfish? And vice versa.

    without using a database i wanted a file to point to the newest revision of a file. Someone suggested using a shortcut. Knowing i can rewrite file.ext to file.ext.lnk i thought it was a great idea. Then i tried it, my server (VS 2010rc) serves the shortcut rather then the file. Not what i wanted... How do i serve the file the shortcut is pointing to? NOTE: I am planing to use windows 2008 as my server so a solution should work on that as well. The OS i am running is windows 7.

    When I turn on output caching for my service it doesn't appear to be cache-worthy in IIS. It really should be since I'm returning the same JSON content over and over. The varyByQueryString option seems like it would do the trick, but since my resources are URI based, there really isn't a query string, just a path to a resource. Has anyone successfully gotten IIS to output cache a WCF REST service?

    I'm having the following issue on a host using Apache 2.2.22 + PHP 5.4.0 I need to provide the file /home/server1/htdocs/admin/contents.php when a user makes the request: http://server1/admin/contents, but I obtain this message on the server error_log. Negotiation: discovered file(s) matching request: /home/server1/htdocs/admin/contents (None could be negotiated) Notice that I have mod_negotiation enabled and MultiViews among the options for the related virtualhost: <Directory "/home/server1/htdocs"> Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks MultiViews Order allow,deny Allow from all AllowOverride All </Directory> I also use mod_rewrite, with the following .htaccess rules: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^([^\./]*)$ index.php?t=$1 [L] </IfModule> It seems very strange, but on the same box with PHP 5.3.6 it used to work correctly. I'm just trying an upgrade to PHP 5.4.0, but I cannot solve this negotiation issue. Any idea on why Apache cannot match contents.php when asking for content (which should be what mod_negotiation is supposed to do)?

  • Where to put default-servlet-handler in Spring MVC configuration

    In my web.xml, the default servlet mapping, i.e. /, is mapped to Spring dispatcher. In my Spring dispatcher configuration, I have DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping, ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping and AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter which allows me to map url to controllers either by its class name or its @Requestmapping annotation. However, there are some static resources under the web root which I also want spring dispatcher to serve using default servlet. According to Spring documentation, this can be done using <mvc:default-servlet-handler/> tag. In the configuration below, there are 4 candidate locations that I marked which are possible to insert this tag. Inserting the tag in different location causes the dispatcher to behave differently as following : Case 1 : If I insert it at location 1, the dispatcher will no longer be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name but it will be serving the static content normally. Cas 2, 3 : It will be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name as well as serving the static content if other mapping cannot be done successfully. Case 4 : It will not be able to serve the static contents. I have written a custom search page that provides faster, more user friendly searches than the default Contacts view and also allows searching of Leads and Contacts simultaneously. I just needed to wrap my databind calls in try/catch blocks to capture any errors. Unfortunately it seems CRM's IIS configuration has the magic ability to capture this error before it ever gets back to my code. Using the debugger I never see it. It never gets to my catch blocks, but it's clearly happening in the SQL Data Source which is clearly (by the stack trace) being triggered by my GridView bind. Any ideas on this?   • How to build an offline web app using Flask?

    I'm prototyping an idea for a website that will use the HTML5 offline application cache for certain purposes. The website will be built with Python and Flask and that's where my main problem comes from: I'm working with those two for the first time, so I'm having a hard time getting the manifest file to work as expected. The issue is that I'm getting 404's from the static files included in the manifest file. The manifest itself seems to be downloaded correctly, but the files that it points to are not. This is what is spit out in the console when loading the page: Creating Application Cache with manifest http://127.0.0.1:5000/static/manifest.appcache offline-app:1 Application Cache Checking event offline-app:1 Application Cache Downloading event offline-app:1 Application Cache Progress event (0 of 2) http://127.0.0.1:5000/style.css offline-app:1 Application Cache Error event: Resource fetch failed (404) http://127.0.0.1:5000/style.css The error is in the last line. When the appcache fails even once, it stops the process completely and the offline cache doesn't work. The same error was returned every time. I'm certain the issue here is how the server is serving up the files listed in the manifest. Those files are probably being looked up in the wrong place, I guess. I either should place them somewhere else or I need something different in the cache manifest, but I have no idea what. I couldn't find anything online about having HTML5 offline applications with Flask. Is anyone able to help me out?

    Hi, I am new to javascript. I wrote the following function rollDice() to produce 5 random numbers and display them. I use an anchor with click event to call the function. Problem is, in Chrome it won't display, works fine in IE, in firefox the 5 values display and then the original page w/anchor appears! I am suspicious that my script tag is too general but I am really lost. I then looked at JW Player http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forum But I'm not sure as I can't see any sample code to do this. Anyone has experience with Flowplayer or JW Player or any other suggestion ? Could Flashplayer do this also ? Are the above players based on Flashplayer ?

  • How to allow program updates without prompting UAC?

    We have about 15-20 users who have this software installed. We have UAC enabled through GPO as you should, which means the software prompts for admin approval if a standard user trys to install it. Thats fine, they can call the help desk to have the software installed. My problem is, our help desk is being bombarded every day because users can't update the software and there are updates almost every day which is prompting UAC. Using procmon.exe to find out where it was trying to write to, I then created a GPO to allow file permission access to the program files folder for this particular software, including the program data folder, but it still prompts for admin approval. It seems as though that the software is using msiexec.exe to run a .msp patch file. The only "ACCESS DENIED"s I can still see in procmon is things like this: What can I possibly do to stop this software from prompting UAC with admin password credentials aside from disabling UAC?
