The only difference on that other page where it works, is that there are multiple rows fetched, not just one.

  I am new to objective c programming. I am currently trying to insert data into mysql database. I have read a couple links on this and could not find the exact answer I am looking for. Here is what I am trying to do: I have my app that user inputs a name in a text field and once the press the add button, it makes a connection to my php file and my php file does the rest of the work (using POST method) and adds the name to the mysql dataase. I have seen a lot of people use NSMutableURLRequest : setHTTPMethod :POST`` in their code (in my case my php file does that and I don't haveNSMutableURLRequest` included in my code and it works perfectly fine.) My questions are: Are there any benefits of including NSMutableURLRequest in your code when you can just call your php code to take care of the POST for you? What does NSMutableURLRequest exactly do and which way is more efficient?

  In order to fix a bug, I have to iterate over all the rows in a table, updating a cached count of children to what its real value should be. The structure of the things in the table form a tree. In rails, the following does what I want: Thing.all.each do |th| Thing.connection.update( " UPDATE #{Thing.quoted_table_name} SET children_count = #{th.children.count} WHERE id = #{th.id} " ) end Is there any way of doing this in a single MySQL query? Alternatively, is there any way of doing this in multiple queries, but in pure MySQL? I want something like UPDATE table_name SET children_count = ( SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table_name AS tbl WHERE tbl.parent_id = table_name.id ) except the above doesn't work (I understand why it doesn't).

• iPhone App/Java Server Struct Data Issue over WiFi

  I currently have an iPhone app that communicates with a C++ server running on a computer, over WiFi. This app is sending its data (x,y coordinates) in a c-struct to the server. For further development, we would like the iPhone application to communicate directly with a java server, however the major issue is that java does not have the ability to emulate or use a c-struct. What would be the best way to send data (x,y coordinates) between the two devices? I can already establish a connection between the two devices. More specifically how I would receive the data and process it on the Java end. Thanks for your help, Alex

  I Have a script, getting text from DB and post it on other DB. Problem is, if I have a Text lngen then 840 Words, I can't call this page. Get an error about "Not Found" or "Connection brocken" or what ever. In FF i get no error, only blank page. I found out the Problem is in lenght of the query i send... but how can i fix it??? My it be the Problem, if a query is longer then 6000 Characters?

• Can single-buffer blocking WSASend deliver partial data?

  I've pretty much always used send() with sockets and now I'm moving onto the WSA functions. With send(), I have a sendall() helper that ensured all data is delivered even if it didn't happen in one try and a partial send occurred on first call. So, instead of learning the hard way or over-complicating code when I don't have to, decided to ask you: Can a blocking WSASend() send partial data or does it send everything before it returns or fails? Or should I check the bytes sent vs. expected to send and keep at it until everything is delivered? ANSWER: Overlapped WSASend() does not send partial data but if it does, it means the connection has terminated. I've never encountered the case yet.

• Getting deadlocks in MySQL

  We're very frustratingly getting deadlocks in MySQL. It isn't because of exceeding a lock timeout as the deadlocks happen instantly when they do happen. Here's the SQL code that is executing on 2 separate threads (with 2 separate connections from the connection pool) that produces a deadlock: UPDATE Sequences SET Counter = LAST_INSERT_ID(Counter + 1) WHERE Sequence IS NULL Sequences table has 2 columns: Sequence and Counter The LAST_INSERT_ID allows us to retrieve this updated counter value as per MySQL's recommendation. That works perfect for us, but we get these deadlocks! Why are we getting them and how can we avoid them?? Thanks so much for any help with this.

  Its a two part question. How do i use SQL Server 2008? With Visual Studios? I started up a dummy project and with server explorer i tried with create new sql server database and add connection using my computer name (it came from a dropdown) as the server location. When i tried to create the database 'TestDB1' i got an error. I dont understand why. Its a fresh install and i have restarted the comp a few times since then. I havent messed with visual studios or the servers or even the control options to disable anything that would have been automatic. So whats with this? -edit- My goals are 1) create a database. 2) Be able to see all the database that exist on the server 3) execute sql queries in the ide 4) be able to browse tables. I dont need all of these but as many possible would be nice.

I search for installation of SQL Server 2000 , but its not working over there. So what i did, i send the MDF file of database with exe application and make connection string and its also working. Now i change something in DB , and trying to update .mdf file but its not reflecting the new one mdf its getting the old one. i am Stuck...... am i did any wrong ? because its difficult for me to fix. OR i want to know what is the efficient way of use of SQL Server 2000 database on window7 or any else solution is there? Please help me...

• Play Framework Form "fold" method naming rationale

  Play Framework's (2.x) Form class has a method called fold who's usage is indicated as: anyForm.bindFromRequest().fold( f => redisplayForm(f), t => handleValidFormSubmission(t) ) Essentially, the first function parameter is what gets executed on binding failure, and the 2nd on binding success. To me it seems similar to the 'success' and 'error' callbacks of jquery's ajax function. My question is why did the Play developers call the method "fold"? As a disclaimer I am new to Scala, but I am failing to see the connection between this and the functional Scala fold operation. The only similarity is that it is a higher order function; but I don't see any combining that is taking place, nor does it delegate internally in its implementation to any of the Scala fold functions.

• Legal Issue: Remove/Hide links on Google Login page

  For the background: I'm developing a device application which offers connection to Google Drive. My end-users will need to login to their Google Account and authorize my application to access their Google Drive. I'm using OAuth 2.0 to do this. But my concern is that I don't want users to navigate away from my application using the links on the Google Login page. Basically, I don't want them to use my application to browse the internet. Question: Will I violate any terms of service/usage if I hide or change the href the links using GreaseMonkey or TamperMonkey? The changes will only be on the client side and I won't alter any processing at all. I already checked https://developers.google.com/terms/ but I found no item related to modifying the pages on client side. Thanks in advance.

• Problem with a large CSV file

  I have a very large CSV file. 51427 lines to be exact. I need to import the entire file into a MySQL database, however, the script times out due to server settings and slow connection (and maybe other reasons that I am not aware of). So - I am now passing parameters START and LIMIT via address bar to import, like this: http://my.server.address/import.php?...000&limit=1000 This reads the entire CSV file into an array, and starts at line 10000 of the array and inserts into the database until it reaches line 11000, and then terminates the script. This works very nicely, however, I am not happy having to reach the entire 51427 lines of the CSV file into an array before processing. Is there not a way where I can only read the required lines into an array? That would speed things up significantly.

• Rsync module path needs to be a home directory

  I'm trying to use rsync to backup windows servers to an rsync server. I'm having problems with rsync on the linux side though, it doesn't like symlinks. Currently I'm trying to use the module path of ~/backup, but rsync says that the chroot failed. I looked up what to do and saw that I needed to add the option use chroot = no and munge symlinks = no. That fixed the @ERROR: chroot failed but now it's telling me @ERROR: chdir failed and the log files say that there is no ~/backup directory. I know the user I'm authenticating with has a backup folder in his directory. How can I fix this? For reference I'm using a .NET port of rsync called NetSync and tunneling it over a port forwarded SSH connection generated with granados.

Note that E = lambda x: x.encode('utf-8') 1) so my connection is set with charset='utf8'. I personally know that %s is not a good method to pass in arguemnts due to injection attacks etc.

  TiddlyWiki is a great idea, brilliantly implemented. I'm using it as a portable personal "knowledge manager," and these are the prize virtues: It travels on my USB flash memory stick and runs on any computer, regardless of operating system No software installation is needed on the computer (TiddlyWiki merely uses the Internet browser) No Internet connection is needed In terms of data retrieval functionality, it mimics a relational database (use of tags and internal links) Let's say I've got a million words of prose in 4,000 tiddlers (posts). I'm still testing, but it looks like TiddlyWiki gets very slow. Is there an app like TiddlyWiki that keeps all the virtues I listed above, and allows more storage? NOTE: Separation of content and presentation would be ideal. It's nifty that TiddlyWiki has everything in a single HTML document, but it's unhelpful in many ways. I don't care if a directory of assorted docs is needed (SQLite, XML?), as long as it's functionally self-contained.

• SSRS Export to Excel not working through VPN (Juniper SA4000)

  We have a SharePoint (MOSS 2007 on Win2003 R2) with SSRS reports (from SQL 2005) embedded in it. When we connect to the SharePoint portal through our VPN (firewall is Juniper SA4000) and using Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8) and try to export any SSRS report under Excel, we get an error message: Internet Explorer cannot download . Internet Explorer was not able to open the internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. When not using the VPN (LAN from the office), everything (exporting under Excel) works fine. When using Firefox through the VPN, it works fine. When exporting to any other format (pdf or text or whatever), everything is fine under both IE and FF. Our firewall people suspect something in SSRS/MOSS/Office. Our MOSS consultants suspect something in the firewall Juniper SA4000. • Network Logon Issues with Group Policy and Network

  I am gravely in need of your help and assistance. We have a problem with our logon and startup to our Windows 7 Enterprise system. We have more than 3000 Windows Desktops situated in roughly 20+ buildings around campus. Almost every computer on campus has the problem that I will be describing. I have spent over one month peering over etl files from Windows Performance Analyzer (A great product) and hundreds of thousands of event logs. I come to you today humbled that I could not figure this out. The problem as simply put our logon times are extremely long. An average first time logon is roughly 2-10 minutes depending on the software installed. All computers are Windows 7, the oldest computers being 5 years old. Startup times on various computers range from good (1-2 minutes) to very bad (5-60). Our second time logons range from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. We have a gigabit connection between each computer on the network. We have 5 domain controllers which also double as our DNS servers. Initial testing led us to believe that this was a software problem. So I spent a few days testing machines only to find inconsistent results from the etl files from xperfview. Each subset of computers on campus had a different subset of software issues, none seeming to interfere with logon just startup. So I started looking at our group policy and located some very interesting event ID’s. Group Policy 1129: The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. Group Policy 1055: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). NETLOGON 5719 : This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain OURDOMAIN due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator. E1kexpress 27: Intel®82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection – Network link is disconnected. NetBT 4300 – The driver could not be created. WMI 10 - Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. More or less with timestamps it becomes apparent that the network maybe the issue. 1:25:57 - Group Policy is trying to discover the domain controller information 1:25:57 - The network link has been disconnected 1:25:58 - The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. My company has a DSL 2mb connection. My main problem is latency, in the morning its good but after that its gets really bad. • Cisco 881 losing NAT NVI translation config after reload

  This is a weird one, so I'll try to explain in as much detail as I can so I'm giving the whole picture. As I've mentioned in my other questions, I'm in the process of setting up a new Cisco 881 as my WAN router and NAT firewall. I'm facing an issue where NAT NVI rules that I have configured are not enabled after a reload of the router, regardless of the fact that they are present in the startup-config.
