  • How to replicate CoreData NSFetchedResultController with plain SQLite?

    I would like to replicate the notification sort of system provided with CoreData NSFetchedResultController which with really little enables us to update a tableView based on events such as Insert/Update/Delete of objects represented as Cells. I'm currently using SQLitePersistentObjects as a Database abstraction layer: http://code.google.com/p/sqlitepersistentobjects/ If you have any idea or something working or at least advices I'd be very happy!     In the header, it is defined like: #if __LP64__ || (TARGET_OS_EMBEDDED && !TARGET_OS_IPHONE) || TARGET_OS_WIN32 || NS_BUILD_32_LIKE_64 typedef long NSInteger; typedef unsigned long NSUInteger; #else typedef int NSInteger; typedef unsigned int NSUInteger; #endif So does an UInt32 fit without problems into an NSUInteger (an unsigned int)? Where's the difference between UInt32 and unsigned int? And I assume that an unsigned long is bigger than an unsigned int?

  • How to define colors in XCodes' Interface Builder?

    Hi, I would like to copy colors between elements in the interface builder or define them using RGB values. I.e. copy the background color of a button to another button without duplicating the button. Or: Enter an exact RGB code using the interface builder. Currently I can do this only programmatically but the interface builder is meant to design the GUI, so there must be such possibilities. Thank you all in advance for your answers.

  • Clickable links in UILabel?

    Hi there, I have been searching for this for hours but I failed. I probably don't even know what should I be looking for. Many applications have text and in this text are web hyperlinks in rounded rect, when I click them UIWebView opens. What puzzles me is that they often have custom links, for example if words starts with # it is also clickable and aplication responds by opening another view. How can I do that? Is it possible with UILabel or do I need UITextView or something else? I really hope it is standard functionality and i don't need to subclass anything :/

  • Can you update a file in the application bundle?

    Is it possible to update a file stored in an applications bundle programmatically? Basically I want to get a remote file and overwrite one of the bundle files with it (a sqlite database in fact). This works fine on the simulator but on the device it does not work, though it does not error either (it just doesn't seem to actually overwrite). I know I can work around it by copying it do the user folder instead and then getting the code to check their first for the file before using the bundle one but I was interested to know whether it is possible to update a bundle file at all or am I just doing something wrong?     Just curious, given: unsigned int pulseCounter_001; @property(nonatomic, assign)unsigned int pulseCounter_001; @synthesize pulseCounter_001; Is there any reason to use: [self setPulseCounter_001:0]; Or just use: pulseCounter_001 = 0; Style wise I think the latter says "we are setting an int" better, just curious as to any overheads involved in each? gary

    It's either because of the fact I'm tired or because I'm doing it wrong, but for some reason I can't get it to call a method. Here's what I'm trying to call: -(void)newHighScore:(int)d Which right now just does an NSLog saying "yea I'm working!" I'm calling it like this: [highscore newHighScore:score]; highscore is what I called the HighScore class in the .h, and score is an int with the score.

    In my root view controller, in my didReceiveMemoryWarning method, I go through a couple data structures (which I keep in a global singleton called DataManager), and ditch the heaviest things I've got--one or maybe two images associated with possibly twenty or thirty or more data records. Right now I'm going through and setting those to nil. I'm also setting myself a boolean flag so that various view controllers that need this data can easily know to reload. Thusly: DataManager *data = [DataManager sharedDataManager]; for (Event *event in data.eventList) { event.image = nil; event.thumbnail = nil; } for (WondrMark *mark in data.wondrMarks) { mark.image = nil; } [DataManager sharedDataManager].cleanedMemory = YES; Today I'm thinking, though... and I'm not actually sure all that allocated memory is really being freed when I do that. Should I instead release those images and maybe hit them with a new alloc and init when I need them again later?

  • Reading web-service information from assembly app.config file

    I have a plugin architecture solution written in .NET C# 3.5, where each plug-in is an assembly loaded by the main project. Each plug-in connects to a different web-service, so I would like to have the configuration of that plugin in its own plugin.dll.config file instead of having it in the app.config of the main project. I have been looking around and I saw that i could load from each class its own config file: // Get the application configuration file. System.Configuration.Configuration config = ConfigurationManager.OpenMappedExeConfiguration(fileMap,userLevel) I see how that would help me get the basic settings from the appSettings section, but I cant see a way to read the web-service information stored in the plugin.dll.config file. Any help on how to approach this situation is very welcome.

  • Moving UIButton around

    I've tried to move a UIButton up and down in a menu. The problem I've got with the following solution is that the timer is not accurate. Sometimes the Button is moved up 122px, sometimes only 120px.     What I'm trying to do is query the datastore for a model where the key is not the key of an object I already have. The idea is to find another User who doesn't have a partner, that isn't the User we already know. I've tried filter('key !=, user.key()), filter('__key__ !=, user.key()) and a couple others, and nothing returns another User who doesn't have a partner. filter('foo !=, user.key()) also returns nothing, for the record.

When the application starts again I want this stored subtitle to show up in the callout of the annotation again. What am I doing wrong?   • Effect of 'myObj = [[[[MyClass alloc] init] autorelease] retain];'?

    I've just downloaded the Facebook iOS SDK and I noticed that in the sample code that comes with the SDK whenever it creates an instance of the Facebook class it does it like this: _facebook = [[[[Facebook alloc] init] autorelease] retain]; where _facebook is a member variable of the calling object (i.e. not a local variable). Can anyone explain exactly what's the point of autoreleasing and then retaining it?

    I'm trying to implement a system whereby the user is initially presented with a single tablecell, in a uitableview (grouped style), within a uinavigationview. --------------- + | add record | --------------- When they click on the cell, they are pushed onto a new screen where they fill in a few textviews (perhaps imbedded in a tableview's cells) --------------- | (name) | --------------- | (phone num) | --------------- Then when they go back, they can see the new record as well as the 'add record' cell. --------------- | record 1 | --------------- + | add record | --------------- (When they go into record 1 again there would be a delete button) Is there any sample code or libraries which would achieve this? What about InAppSettingsKit? It's more the presentation I'm concerned with. I can handle the saving of data myself.
