    I'm trying to get Apache to redirect all http and https traffic to a single endpoint www.example.org. It is my understanding that I need to specify one specific IP address, because the Host directive is also sent encrypted.     How do I achieve the equivalent of nc -q in Redhat 5? Details? nc -q -1 local host ${PORT} ${CMD} In Ubuntu, nc may be use as above, with the -q option. See manpage. -q after EOF on stdin, wait the specified number of seconds and then quit. If seconds is negative, wait forever. However, this option is not available in Redhat 5. See manpage. (Note: The Red Hat website is horrible to search, if someone finds their manpage for nc, please edit this post or comment with the new link).

  • Windows 7 random black screen when idle

    Occasionally, when I'm away from my computer for about 5 minutes, the computer screen will go black and all USB devices (keyboard/mouse) will lose power. Attempting to move the mouse or pressing keys does not 'wake up' the computer. This only started happening a few days ago but I'm not sure what changes I did could have caused this and I uninstalled programs (one by one) I installed before it started happening, but still having the same issue. The one thing I noticed different about my computer since it started happening is i've been getting random survey popups from www.insightexpress.com. I ran Microsoft Security Essentials scan, it picked up some Java related malware, I removed it but still the same issue. I'm running MBAM right now and will run SAS after.

  • Outlook close to tray

    Ok, I'm stuck using outlook in the office (but they let me use 2010 betas which are awsome, btw) and one thing I'll allways rant about outlook in any version is that when I press the X button it goes away. I mean, I know the X button is supposed to close the app, it's the standard and all that, but email is (sadly) very critical, as well as meeting requests and reminders, outlook should not be closed so freaking easily. I mean, Live Messenger is not so critical but it has this feature built in and on by default. Is there a way to close outlook to the tray, addons, vba, settings, reghack, anything? I know there is minimize to tray and I've been searching the web but could not find anything usefull.

I don't understand what it means, and I even bought a new HDD and RAM, I also haven't install new programs but the blue screen always appears. Is there anyone who has same problem with me and knows how to solve this problem

  • Accessing network shares on Windows7 via SonicWall VPN client

    I'm running Windows7 x64 (fully patched) and the SonicWall 4.2.6.0305 client (64-bit, claims to support Windows7). I can login to the VPN and access network resources (eg SSH to a machine that lives behind the VPN). However I cannot seem to be able to access shared filesystems. Windows is refusing to do discovery on the VPN network. I suspect part of the problem is Windows persistently considers the VPN connection to be a 'public network'. Normally, you can open the network and sharing center and modify this setting, however it does not give me a choice for the VPN. So I did the expedient thing and turned on file sharing for public networks. I also disabled the Windows firewall for good measure. Still no luck. I can access the server directly by putting \\192.168.1.240 in the taskbar, which brings up the list of shares on the server. However, trying to open any of the shares simply tells me "Windows cannot access \\192.168.1.240\share You do not have permission to access ..."; it never asks for a domain password. I also tried Windows7 native VPN functionality - it couldn't successfully connect to the VPN at all. I suspect this is because SonicWall is using some obnoxious special/undocumented authentication system; I had similar problems trying to connect on Linux with the normal IPsec tools there. What magical invocation or control panel option am I missing that will let this work? Are there any reasonable debugging strategies? I'm feeling quite frustrated at Windows tendency to not give me much useful information that might let me understand what it is trying to do and what is going wrong.

  • Enabling media streaming from a removable drive using Windows Media Player

    I have Windows Media Player set up to stream video to several devices in my apartment. I had recently run out of space so I purchased an external drive to store my videos/music etc. I can add the media to my WMP library and play it locally without issue. As soon as I try to access the media from another device that supports media streaming (Media player or another PC) only the media stored on a fixed drive is available. Is there a way to enable media sharing from a removable drive or somehow trick WMP that the media is stored on a fixed drive? I tried setting up a SymLink linking a directory on the fixed drive to the removable one but with the same result.

    A client has a Canon iRunner210S and is complaining about slow print speeds. I've searched for a install manual online but came up empty. A call to Canon technical referred me to their dealer network for service, as as informing me that there isn't a manual available on their website. Anyone know how to install these and/or have a link to a manual? The current setup has the printers on a LAN Manager printer port instead of on straight IP ports. Is this normal for this printer? And what exactly are Lan Manager ports (based on my research, they appear to be a way to authenticate a connection)?

  • Windows - Use Local Service and/or Network Service account for a windows service

    I've created a window's service that monitors files on a specific directory on our Windows OS. When a file is detected, the service does some file I/O, reads the files, creates sub-directories, etc. This service also uses database connectivity to connect to another server. My plan is to have the service run as the default "Local Service" account. Since I need to allow write/read privileges, which apparently the "Local Service" account does not do by default, I'm going to explicitly set "Full Control" privileges for the "Local Service" account on the folder that I'm reading/writing to and from. I believe the above is a good . My question is, for the folder that I'm reading and writing to, do I need to setup a "Network Service" role with full control access? I'm wondering since my service uses database connectivity to another server, if I'll need the "Network Service" account setup. I may be misunderstanding what the "Network Service" account does.

According to the documentation, the soundcard is a Ensoniq AudioPCI ES1370. Does anyone know where I can find a driver for this, or a compatible driver that will run under 7. I've not tried this in Vista as yet.

  • Bypass BIOS password set by faulty Toshiba firmware on Satellite A55 laptop?

    How can the CMOS be cleared on the Toshiba Satellite A55-S1065? I have this 7 year old laptop that has been crippled by a glitch in its BIOS: 'A "Password =" prompt may be displayed when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. The computer will be unusable until this problem is resolved. [..] The occurrence of this problem on any particular computer is unpredictable -- it may never happen, but it could happen any time that the computer is turned on. [..] Toshiba will cover the cost of this repair under warranty until Dec 31, 2010.' -Toshiba As they stated, this machine is "unusable." The escape key does not bypass the prompt (nor does any other key), thus no operating system can be booted and no firmware updates can be installed. After doing some research, I found solutions that have been suggested for various Toshiba Satellite models afflicted by this glitch: "Make arrangements with a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider to have this problem resolved." -Toshiba (same link). Even prior to the expiration of Toshiba's support ("repair under warranty until Dec 31, 2010"), there have been reports that this solution is prohibitively expensive, labor charges accruing even when the laptop is still under warranty, and other reports that are generally discouraging: "They were unable to fix it and the guy who worked on it said he couldn’t find the jumpers on the motherboard to clear the BIOS. I paid $39 for my troubles and still have the password problem." - Steve. Since the costs of the repairs can now exceed the value of the hardware, it would seem this is a DIY solution, or a non-solution (i.e. the hardware is trash). Build a Toshiba parallel loopback by stripping and soldering the wires on a DB25 plug to connect connect these pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, 18-25. -CGSecurity. According to a list of supported models on pwcrack, this will likely not work for my Satellite A55-1065 (as well as many other models of similar age). -pwcrack Disconnect the laptop battery for an extended period of time. Doesn't work, laptop sat in a closet for several years without the battery connected and I forgot about the whole thing for awhile. The poor thing. Clear CMOS by setting the proper jumper setting or by removing the CMOS (RTC) battery, or by short circuiting a (hidden?) jumper that looks like a pair of solder marks -various sources for various Satellite models: Satellite A105: "you will see C88 clearly labeled right next the jack that the wireless card plugs into. There are two little solder squares (approx 1/16") at this location" -kerneltrap Satellite 1800: "Underneath the RAM there is black sticker, peel off the black sticker and you will reveal two little solder marks which are actually 'jumpers'. Very carefully hold a flat-head screwdriver touching both points and power on the unit briefly, effectively 'shorting' this circuit." -shadowfax2020 Satellite L300: "Short the B500 solder pads on the system board." -Lester Escobar Satellite A215: "Short the B500 solder pads on the system board." -fixya Clearing the CMOS could resolve the issue, but I cannot locate a jumper or a battery on this board. Nothing that looks remotely like a battery can be removed (everything is soldered). I have looked closely at the area around the memory and do not see any obvious solder pads that could be a secret jumper.     I wanted to ask a multi-part question. Does Comcast Cable Internet services record MAC Addresses of the Router behind the cable modem. I know they record it for the modem itself. But is there a way for the Modem/Comcast to relay and keep logs of the MAC ID of the Router itself? Then does a windows operating system Log the MAC ID of the Router when its connected to it? If so where do I locate and purge this? Please let me know all areas where it is Logged within the operating system. Thank you!
