• What does sub error code 568 mean for Ldap Error 49 with Active Directory

  I am writing some Java code that authenticates to Active Directory using SASL GSSAPI. Mostly this code is working fine but for one user I am getting the response: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 8 0090304: LdapErr: DSID-0C0904D1, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 568, v1772 ] I know that 49 means this is an authentication failure, and that the relevant sub code is 568, but I am only aware of the following meanings for that data: 525 - user not found 52e - invalid credentials 530 - not permitted to logon at this time 532 - password expired 533 - account disabled 701 - account expired 773 - user must reset password So far I am unable to find an authorative source of these error codes from Microsoft (this list is pieced together from forum posts) and I can't find anything for that 568 error. Does anyone know what it means?

• What's the next big thing after LINQ?

  I started using LINQ (Language Integrated Query) when it was still in beta, more specifically Microsoft .NET LINQ Preview (May 2006). Almost 4 years have passed and here we are using LINQ in a lot of projects for the most diverse tasks. I even wrote my final college project based on LINQ. You see how I like it. LINQ and more recently PLINQ (Parallel LINQ) give our jobs a great boost when it comes to more programming power and less lines of code leading us to more expressive and readable code. I keep thinking what could be the next big language improvement for C# after LINQ. I know there are some promissing language features coming as Code Contracts, etc, but nothing having the impact that LINQ had. What do you think could be the next big thing?

  Hi All I am trying to create a scripting language by myself (it doesn't have to be perfect - although that would be great if it was), mostly because i'm doing it for fun and to learn about how they're created etc. According to the answer over here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2439929/creating-a-scripting-language what I'm supposed to be looking into is this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/xawadt95%28VS.85%29.aspx . But, I have absolutely no idea what that MSDN page is on about. Can somebody please help? P.S.   I'd like to try writing my own minimal NT subsystem on Windows 7 for purely educational purposes -- something like a bare-bones equivalent of the posix.exe in Microsoft's Subsystem for Unix-based Applications. But I can't seem to find any public documentation on this topic. What API does a subsystem need to implement? How does it get registered with Windows? How does the subsystem image need to be built (what flags need to be set in the PE header, etc.)? I'd most like to find a book or web site with an overview of the entire subject, or even the source code for a "hello world" NT subsystem that someone else has written. But anything at all would be appreciated if you can point me in the right direction here...

• Win C#: Refresh Windows Explorer in Win7

  Hello, My program sets "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" value "Hidden". Hovewer I'm not able to refresh the explorer to take into account this change. I've tried: 1) SHChangeNotify(SHCNE_ASSOCCHANGED, SHCNF_IDLIST, IntPtr.Zero, IntPtr.Zero); 2) SHELLSTATE state = new SHELLSTATE(); state.fShowAllObjects = (uint)1; SHGetSetSettings(ref state, SSF.SSF_SHOWALLOBJECTS, true); 3) SendMessageTimeout(HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SETTINGCHANGE, SPI_SETNONCLIENTMETRICS, 0, SMTO_ABORTIFHUNG, 5000, ref dwResult); 4) SendMessage(HWND_BROADCAST, WM_COMMAND, 28931 /* Refresh */, 0); Nothing works. So what should I do? If I refresh Explorer myself with F5, then it works. • Dynamically populate an InfoPath DropownList with managed code

  I have an InfoPath form with custom C# code, and a Sharepoint list. I have a dropdownlist in the InfoPath form that I want to populate with a certain field from the Sharepoint list (I want the InfoPath dropdownlist to contain this field's value from every item in the Sharepoint list. I can successfully get the list of values I need from Sharepoint in my managed code, but I do not see how I can get these values into the dropdownlist (either bind to the list, or add each item in the list one by one). I thought I could modify the XML of the dropdownlist to insert my items, but the XML only contains the first item in the dropdownlist: <my:RelatedRiskID xmlns:my="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/myXSD/2009-07-20T18:12:59">Option 1</my:RelatedRiskID> I feel like this should be possible, but I can't find any resources on how to do it. • Raphael js library: problems with animateAlong in IE7

  Hi there, I'm having trouble making a simple shape move along a path in IE7 (the only version of IE I tried, actually). The following code works fine in chrome and firefox, but not IE. I couldn't find an obvious reason, has anybody seen something similar? canvas.path(rPath.path).attr("stroke", "blue"); var circle = canvas.circle(rPath.startX, rPath.startY, 5); circle.animateAlong(rPath.path, 3000, true); My rPath variable has the path and the starting point coordinates. Microsoft script debugger points to this line as the one where the code breaks: os.left != (t = x - left + "px") && (os.left = t); (line 2131 inside the uncompressed raphael.js script file, inside Element[proto].setBox = function (params, cx, cy) {...}) Any ideas? • SQL Server 2008 Express doesn't see my Visual Studio 2008 Team System's SP1

  Hi, I want to install SQL Server 2008 express. I have already Visual Studio 2008 Team System with SP1. VS in help about shows me: MVS version: 9.0.30729.1 SP .NET Framework version: 3.5 SP1 but installator of SQL Server shows me that Visual Studio doesn't have SP1. Anyway I tricked up him by change in win registry HKLM Software Microsoft DevDiv VS Servicing 9.0 IDE 1033 value from RTM on SP1 and instalation runs. But during instalation error was occured about SP1 again. SQL Server was installed without SQL Managment. When I try install it I have allways the same error about SP1. I was install SP1 couple times with success but it does nothing. I was instal SQL Server SP1 also but it does nothing. Reinstall of VS 2008 and SP1 does nothing. What can I do?   Is anyone using ClickOnce with VS2010? I’m getting the following on publish, when the solution builds fine ... Building WindowsFormsApplication1... Error: Cannot publish because a project failed to build. Have tried everything, new clean project (both windforms and WPF), new temporary key, disabled pre-requisites and played with every publish setting. • Web Application Project Deployment VS2010 - Precompile Views

  Using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate I created a ASP.NET MVC 2.0 Web Application. I read http://msdn.microsoft.com/query/dev10.query?appId=Dev10IDEF1&l=EN-US&k=k%28WEBAPPLICATIONPROJECTS.PACKAGEPUBLISHOVERVIEW%29;k%28TargetFrameworkMoniker-%22.NETFRAMEWORK%2cVERSION%3dV4.0%22%29&rd=true. Its about the new features for Web Application Deployment. I dont see an option to precompile Views. Also I dont see other options that where available in previous version of Web Deployment Project: ie if the web is compiled into a single assembly or into one assembly per page. I had the impression that Application Project Deployment is the scuccessor of Web Deployment Project.. maybe I am wrong about it. How should I precompile views now?

• How do I free SQLServerCE's COM instance from the current running process?

  It's been a while since I touched COM so be nice ;) This is under WindowsCE 5.0 with SQLServerCE 2.0. After calling this to load SQLServerCE 2.0 : - IDBInitialize *pIDBInitialize = NULL; CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SQLSERVERCE_2_0, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IDBInitialize, (void**)&pIDBInitialize); Module load occurs for SSCE20.dll which obviously loads the SQLServerCE engine into the process space. What I don't understand is if I do this immediately after :- pIDBInitialize->Release(); I don't see a dll module unload, so that SSCE20.dll (and friends) are still loaded into my process. Now I tried CoFreeUnusedLibraries() which I figure forces COM to purge any unused libraries, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. At runtime I want to be able to completely unload the SQLServerCE 2.0 dll from the process to streamline an upgrade to 3.5SP1. I suspect this has something to do with the shared dll model that Microsoft use under WindowsCE... but, I might be wrong :) Thanks in advance, David.

  Is there any microsoft or even non-official documentation for SOS for Silverlight. Other than a few web posts I have seen zero documentation for it on MSDN. Even official documentation for the CLR version of SOS seems hard to find, this ancient article mentions a sos.htm file that is included in the windows SDK but it doesn't appear to be there any more. Any pointers to debugging Silveright with SOS?   I just installed microsoft chart controls software on my system. Now the chart is present on the data toolbox on visual C# 2008 express edition. But it is not available on visual web developer 2008 express edition When I tried <asp:chart > it is not available... Do I have to do some procedure to get it active on web developer. Can anyone tell me what is the problem... I added the below said to the web.config, The is available but I am getting an error.. The type or namespace name 'DataVisualization' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web.UI' (are you missing an assembly reference?) What should I do now...

  I want to use the SqlExpress2008 Bootstrapper for a new installation on Windows7, I do not want to use the default SQLEXPRESS Instance. • Cannot add library in VC++ 2008: My System is Different

  Hopefully someone can tell me what's going on here. I'm trying to link to gdiplus.lib and I tried to go to "Properties - Linker - Input - Additional Dependencies" to add the library but I do NOT have that section. I'm using Visual C++ 2008. Here's what I see: Common Properties Framework and References Configuration Properties General Degugging C/C++ Librarian Resources XML Document Generator Browse Information Build Events Custom Build Step I've checked every subcategory and there is NOT a "Linker" section or an "Input" section. Once again, this is Visual C++ 2008 without any customizations or strange settings. I have a screenshot at http://drp.ly/13ma9l if anybody's interested. How come my Property panel is completely different than everyone else's? Typical Microsoft crap I suppose...

  How do you guys pass the data (parameter) to DataTemplate Selector? The only one that I can think of is to use an attached property in DataTemplate Selector?   In Java, updating double and long variable may not be atomic, as double/long are being treated as two separate 32 bits variables. http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/memory.doc.html#28733 In C++, if I am using 32 bit Intel Processor + Microsoft Visual C++ compiler, is updating double (8 byte) operation atomic? I cannot find much specification mention on this behavior. When I say "atomic variable", here is what I mean : Thread A trying to write 1 to variable x. Thread B trying to write 2 to variable x. We shall get value 1 or 2 out from variable x, but not an undefined value.
