  Hi I just started my computer up & opened a website for my checking my mail, when I opened a Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 window popped up. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rse47wp8.default\Cache\C\79\D5CC9d01 Does anyone is familiar with this? I checked the path and this path doesn't exist. I couldn't remember that I have a file of D5CC9d01 once. Can somebody please tell me if this is a virus or not? Thanks

• How to draw diagrams in Open Office?

  Hi, I would like to draw diagrams using Open Office but I didn't find any installed by default. What I am exactly looking for are diagrams that look like the ones that come with MS Office 2007/2010 (like Pyramid diagrams, Star diagrams etc.). Any idea? A plugin to install? Otherwise are there any online services that can do it? (I have tested Cacoo and gliffy but they don't really offer the diagrams that I am looking for). Thanks!

• No recent docs listed in Office 2007 on Windows XP Pro

  Hi, I have Office 2007 installed on a laptop running Windows XP Pro. When I go to open a file in Excel or Word, there is no list of recent documents. On the Options/Advanced page, the "show this number of recent documents" spinner displays 0 but is grayed out so I can't change it. The help page it directs me to describes how to disable the list, but not how to enable it. In Word, it says something about the list being disallowed by Group Policy, but I am not part of any workgroup and, as far as I know, the policies are all uninitialized, so it should be allowed by default. There are recent files listed in MRU keys in the registry. A similar question has been answered, but I believe that only applies to Windows Vista or 7 because the folder mentioned doesn't exist on my system. Instead, the folder "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\Recent" contains shortcuts to recent docs for both Excel and Word. Any other ideas? Thanks.

• Remove Outlook 2007 Calendar from Calendars List

  In our company, we use personal folders with Outlook 2007 and make it the default method of downloading messages to keep our mailbox size on the server side small. Under calendar view, i see both calendars, my personal folder one and my server one. How can I remove from the list of calendars my server one since I do not use that one and it only creates confusion and problems such as adding entries onto that one instead of the other or disabling one and not getting alarms? I tried googling on it and read there is a utility to do that but couldn't find the name of it. Thanks in advance for your help.

• Is there any two-panels bookmarks manager for Google Chrome?

  Hi to all. I'm just wondering, is there any two-panels-interface (like Total Commander, File Manager, etc) bookmark manager, extension, etc for Google Chrome? Using of the default bookmark manager is not so suitable because of two reasons: 1) I've gathered a very large collection of bookmarks (please, don't ask why) 2) bookmarks hierarchy tree always expands its branches when the bookmark manager is open (this makes the moving of bookmarks through the bookmark tree much and much harder). I tried to use Link Commander but it's very and very slow. Any suggestions? Thank you for advices.

• HAPROXY per domain redirection

  I'm trying to redirect requests to my load balancer by domain name with acl and hdr_dom, to a separate backend. The redirection works ok with the first request - 'GET /' (the destination server is a WordPress site) but when the client asks for the assets ('GET /blablabla/style.css' for example) the haproxy doesn't redirect it to the right backend anymore, but to the default one, with . In the haproxy log I can see the correct host that the request is for (the one that I defined in hdr_dom) but it's like that since the GET request itself is relative (I mean not containing the domain but only from the /blablabla and forth), haproxy doesn't recognize it with the hdr_dom. I'm just guessing here.. Please help...

• Tomcat 5.5 - second application returs 404

  There are two versions of web application. Want to have both on one machine so I can test upgrade. If there is one of them copied to Tomcat's webapplications directory and then Tomcat is started, it works fine. So if there is only have only ...webapplicatios\ROOT\... ...webapplicatios\myApp25\... it works fine. Or when there is only ...\webapps\ROOT\... ...\webapps\myApp26\... it works fine too. If I upload both ...\webapps\ROOT and ...\webapps\myApp25 ...\webapps\myApp26 only one of the apps will work. The other one returns 404, page not found. It's running on Windows7 and I use Tomcat 5.5. Tomcat is just default installation. Any idea what to check? How to make both running both apps? Thank you in advance for any help. I'm beginner regarding TC.

• On Windows 7, how do I fix my cmd.exe icon and remove cruft from the jumplist

  Hi. When installing drivers for my Gigabyte motherboard, I installed a "Games" link which ran from a batch file. This was pinned to the taskbar by default. As a result, it changed the icon for cmd.exe to the icon for Games. I uninstalled the Games and it got rid of the icon leaving it with a white rectangle thing (I can post screenshots on request). There is also a link on the jumplist to open Games, which just opens a cmd window. I've tried rebuilding my icon cache as per Changing Windows 7 pinned taskbar icons, but this only removed the white rectangle icon, leaving me with no real icon. c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe still has the appropriate icon in explorer, just not on the taskbar. Any ideas on how to fix this annoyance?

• Mount encrypted hfs in ubuntu

  I try to mount an encrypted hfs+ partition in ubuntu. An older post described quite good how to do it, but lacks the information how to use encrypted partitions. What I found so far is: # install required packages sudo apt-get install hfsprogs hfsutils hfsplus loop-aes-utils # try to mount it mount -t hfsplus -o encryption=aes-256 /dev/xyz /mount/xyz But once I run this I get the following error: Error: Password must be at least 20 characters. So I tried to type it in twice, but that results in this: ioctl: LOOP_SET_STATUS: Invalid argument, requested cipher or key (256 bits) not supported by kernel Any suggestions? Thx Edit: One thing I'm not sure about is whether I use the right password. My assumption is that it is my default one for these situations. But I'm not sure whether Max OSX choose another password (internally) for that.

• Wordpress 3 mutli site install

  Hello, Trying to figure out if this is possible... My company has a cms product that was written in Java and we decided to use Wordpress to run blogs for our clients. Obviously, Wordpress does not run on tomcat(at least not by default) so we installed Pound(http://www.apsis.ch/pound/) on our server and have setup any Apache and Tomcat on different ports. When "/blog/" is requested, the request is directed to Apache. This works fine but we would like to use Wordpress multi site so that we can manage all the blogs from a single interface. We would also like the url for every site to be "/blog/" example: http://www.site1.com/blog/ http://www.site2.com/blog/ I'm thinking it would have to be done with apache??? Is it even possible? • Ubuntu installed along side Win 8 but not shown in boot

  Actually the question says it all, but let me tell you what I did, so u may find exactly what might have went wrong: I have Win 8 installed on 500 GB HDD. SO I shrunk it four times for: partition 1 - the original partition containing Win 8 sys (118GB) partition 2 - NTFS formatted for my data (188GB) partition 3 - NTFS formatted for my data (100GB) partition 4 - NTFS formatted for Linux distro 1 (I reformatted it to ext4 during Ubuntu installation) (25GB) partition 5 - NTFS formatted for Linux distro 1 (21GB) So now I booted Ubuntu from USB (created from ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64.iso) and deleted last two partitions 4 and 5 to create: partition 1 - ext4 where I installed Ubuntu (25GB) partition 2 - Swap (4GB) partition 3 - unallocated space, not formatted yet (17GB) Ubuntu installation said it installed successfully and that I have to restart to boot in Ubuntu. But when I restart Windows 8 auto booted - there was no dual boot.   I have an ASUS P7P55-M motherboard running with an Intel Core i5-750 processor and 4 GB RAM with 1600 MT/s speed. For some reason the default settings of the motherboard make all the components run at half their optimums. I have switched to the "D.O.C.P." profile and supposedly everything is as it's supposed to be (verified with CPU-Z). There is also an "X.M.P." profile and a manual one. Are either of the DOCP or XMP safe to go with? I wouldn't use the manual mode as I would likely mess something up real bad. XMP seems to be more memory oriented.

Well, it looks like I’ll be putting together a SharePoint jQuery session that I will be presenting at a few conferences. This is such a big and broad topic I could speak on it for hours! • How to change the install path of my Linux Source tree?

  I was trying to bring up my custom kernel. I did the following : make menuconfig && make modules && make modules_install && make install I would like to change the install PATH. How can i do that? I tried doing export INSTALL_PATH=<my custom path> But then it is only creating the vmlinux.bin(it is not creating the ramdisk image!!) But if i am not doing that, make install will automatically create the ramdisk image in the default /boot folder. How can i change that?? Thanks, Sen

• ignore or override current document page formatting with predefined settings automatically libreoffice

  When opening a document made by someone else, I would like the margins to automatically be set to 0.4 cm, the page orientation to landscape and page size to A3. My dad gets emailed a spreadsheet weekly and he prints them off. To fit them onto one page he applies these settings, which is quite laborious. I thought that there must be a quicker way of doing this! I tried creating a new default template with these settings but this only works for a new blank document. I tried to create a style to quickly apply these settings but I realised these styles are document / template specific (?) and so don't appear when opening someone else's document. Anyone have any ideas how I can do this? Thanks =]

• Remote Desktop Services create LAN and WAN user groups

  I'm setting up one server with the gateway, server host and web access roles on it. I know that isn't ideal but I don't expect to have many simulatenous users. I want users to access remote desktop web access and connect to the server host via the gateway as outlined here which avoids opening 3389 to the internet. Users will be connecting from the LAN and the WAN. What I'm looking to do is to allow some users LAN access but not WAN access and added plus would be if security settings (such as no clipboard) would be different when accessing via the WAN. Is this possible? It seems all users can logon to remote desktop web access by default. They can't run the remoteapps once logged in though without the proper permissions. Can I prevent them from even logging into remote web access? Since they renamed it from terminal services to remote desktop services it has made my Googling a bit harder. Thanks!

• Ubuntu sound volume is 40% lower than in Windows

  I have 2x 2.1 speakers connected to the computer where I have Ubuntu 12.04 installed. On the software side I've set all the volume controls to 100% with the alsamixer program. The speakers have their own volume control, maintaining those at the same level, and switching between Ubuntu and Windows (XP and 7), on windows the output volume is at least 40% higher, even when having the windows volume control at 50% (without touching the speakers volume control) it's still much higher than the sound on Ubuntu. Why can this be happening?   Hello, I have an email server setup on Debian Lenny with Postfix, Dovecot, SASL and MySQL. Currently, the password scheme in my dovecot-sql.conf file is set to: CRYPT default_pass_scheme = CRYPT I would like to globally change the scheme to something stronger like SSHA, or MD5-CRYPT and re-hash all passwords with SSHA. What is the best way to do this? The Dovecot wiki mentions how passwords that don't follow the default scheme defined in dovecot-sql.conf can be prefixed with "{ssha}password", but I couldn't see anything regarding changing an already-existing scheme to a new one for all passwords that are already in the database.   When restoring a database backup, by default, SQL Server places the database files in the master database file directory.  In this example, that location is in L:\MSSQL10.CHTL\MSSQL\DATA as shown by the issuance of sp_helpfile   Hence, the restored files for the database CHTL_L2_DB are in the same directory     Per SQL Server best practices, the log file should be on its own disk drive so that the database and log file can operate in a sequential manner and perform optimally. • Wrong resolution for Lightdm/GDM on Ubuntu 13.04 using HDMI

  I've tried all the solution I could find on the matter so far, but the error persists. My problem is that the login screen (both under gdm and lightdm) runs with the wrong resolution, even though all is fine when I log in. The error occurs solely when I have my HDMI cable connected to my other screen. The login screen resolution becomes 1024x768 (for my 1366x768 laptop screen) and mirrored on my screen, which is 1920x1080. I've had this issue on version 12.04 (the last one before I upgraded to 13.04), but I got it fixed by adding the xrandr commands on the begining of the /etc/gdm/Init/Default file. This doesn't seem to work anymore. I've also tried telling lightdm to run a script fixing the resolution with xrandr (by editing /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf), but lightdm crashes, and I'm forced to log in with low graphic settigs. Hint: when ubuntu is loading, the resolution starts OK, then goes bad right before the login screen is initialized. Does that mean that there's nothing wrong with my graphic cards? What do you think? • Better solution for boolean mixing?

  Sorry if this question has been asked in the past, but searching Google and here didn't yield relevant results, so here goes. I'm working on a fragment shader that implements both conditional/boolean diffuse and bump mapping (that is to say, you don't need a diffuse texture or a normals texture, and if they're not present, they're simply changed to default values). My current solution is to use a uniform float to say "mix amount". For example, computing the diffuse texel works as: // Compute diffuse amount scaled by vCol // If no texture is present (mDif = 0.0), then DiffuseTexel = vCol // kT[0] is the diffuse texture // vTex is the texture co-ordinates // mDif is the uniform float containing the mix amount (either 0.0 or 1.0) vec4 DiffuseTexel = vCol*mix(vec4(1.0), texture2D(kT[0], vTex), mDif); While that works great and all, I was wondering if there's a better way of doing this, as I will never have any use for in-between values for funky effects. I know that perhaps the best solution is to simply write separate shaders for mDif=0.0 and mDif=1.0, but I'd like a more elegant solution than splicing shaders before compiling or writing multiple shader files and keeping each one updated. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. =)

• SCSI driver installation trouble

  I tried to install the driver of Adaptec 39320A-Ultra 320 SCSI card in Win2003 Server R2 SP2 in a DELL PowerEdge 2950 Server. I selected the driver from the list of drivers present in windows. But it says that the device could not be started(Code 10). I tried to put the card in a system that already had the driver installed. It worked fine. So there is no problem with the hardware. I even tried downloading the driver from the manufacturer website. When I try to select install from path and install that driver, it tell no matching driver found. When I install the default driver from windows, it shows the card in SCSI group of device manager, but with an ! symbol. Also the device ID in driver details was different from that of the one present in other system where it insalled fine. Any suggessions to solve it?

• Upgrade to 0.25, files served to uPNP devices cannot play

  I have a Sony BDP-S390 bluray & network player. I upgraded my Myth server to 0.25. When I browse to the Myth server, and try to play a recording, I get an error message about the file not being payable in the player. Interestingly, the files that i have recorded, and the videos that I have loaded into my Video volume group are .mpg or .mp4. The player shows the filetype that it thinks the file is in it's list, and it claims that these files are AVI files, however none of them are. They are all .mp4 or .mpg files. Thinking that that was just an optical illusion, I went ahead and tried to play a file, but I get an error about the file not being playable. First of all, is there something that I need to do to make the uPNP server know about different filetypes? Is it reporting AVI because it hasn't been told about MPG or MP4? Second, I'd like to help out some more here and collect some logging about the uPNP server in the myth server. I cant seem to find information on how to turn on logging, and there is no mythbackend settings file int /etc/default. Thanks very much.

• I can't enable extra effects in Ubuntu 10.10. Please help?

  I installed Ubuntu 10.10 alongside Ubuntu 11.10 to use an older version of Compiz. On Ubuntu 11.10, Compiz was enabled by default and I didn't need to use any graphics driver to enjoy the effects. All I had to do was install CompizConfig Settings Manager and enable those extra effects. That was Compiz 0.9.6. Now, after installing Ubuntu 10.10, when I first logged in, the graphics were slow. When I dragged a window from one end of the screen to the other, the whole screen would blur up and pixelate and it would be very laggy. I tried going to System Preference Appearance and selecting Extra effects on the Visual effects tab, but all I got was "Desktop effects could not be enabled". I don't know whether I should install the Additional drivers (proprietary) because my Internet is slow and it would take a long time. Furthermore, in Ubuntu 11.10, after I installed the proprietary graphics driver, I immediately went into fallback mode and wasn't even offered an option to set my desktop session to Ubuntu 3D. I didn't need the driver to run Compiz in Ubuntu 11.10, it just ran so smoothly. But in Ubuntu 10.10, everything is so laggy. Should I install the ATI/AMD Proprietary FGLRX Graphics Driver for Ubuntu 10.10 to enable extra effects? Or is there something else wrong with my system? I am pleased to say that it incorporates the generic version of a fix, I originated that allows projects including Crystal Reports to be documented.Here is the relevant passage from the help file:"The default configuration for MRefBuilder has been updated to ignore the Crystal Reports licensing assembly (BusinessObjects.Licensing.KeycodeDecoder) if it fails to get resolved.
