• Unable to load type error in ASP.NET 4 application on Windows Server 2003 / IIS6 -- only happens after first worker process recycle

  I'm running an ASP.NET 4.0 web application on IIS6 (Windows Server 2003 x64). This app is one of many running on this server under the Default Web Site -- but is alone on it's own application pool because the other sites are all running ASP.NET 2.0 still. When I deploy my application, it works just fine until the application pool recycles or kills its worker process (by default 2 hours or 20 minutes with no activity). After this, I get the error: "Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information." Refreshing the page, recycling the application pool, and iisreset do nothing. But, I can bring the site back online again for a little while by simply redeploying it.   Hello, I did my homework and searched both google for a sample and a topic that is answered before on stackoverflow. But nothing has been found. My problem is ordinary edges who does not have a view like arrows. • Parsing the response from a jQuery ajax form post

  I am successfully posting a form via ajax, using the following code; $.post( "Page.do?source=ajax", $("#Form").serialize(), function(data){ } The data response that comes back can be alert'd. I can see that it is the HTML of the entire form, having been submitted. But, I am having trouble accessing an element in that form which has come via ajax, ie data.find('.Errors').html() or $('.Errors', data).html() Do I need to somehow convert the text into a DOM which can then be parsed by jQuery?

  Does anyone know if its possible to send out custom http REQUEST headers in HTML without having to use javascript (no xhr wrapper). Would it be possible to define them as meta tags within the head? Or may they be defined in the form somewhere? <meta http-equip="x-something-custom" name="custom value" /> this works, however, this is a RESPONSE header. What I need to set a REQUEST header. I'm not looking for setting hidden fields in forms, but actual raw http header manipulation with html tags. Is this possible?

• Linking Mapkit with Core Data, Search and user location. Converting annotations from a database in a tableview with search to display in a mapview?

  Xcode is quite new to me so explanations are appreciated. I am looking to build an application that displays annotations in a mapview (zoomed in on current user location). I want the applications to come from some sort of database rather than manually inputting all the annotations (which is what I'm currently doing) What would be my application type? tab based? window based? i want a tab for a tableview with a list of my annotations and a mapview tab that will show my database of annotations but with the map zoomed in on current location. In a perfect world, it would be great if the user could add favourites from these annotations and keep them in a favourites tableview tab. I'm desperate to work this out and create a fully functional app for a final uni project. i have a working application already but it's nothing like what i am trying to achieve, any help would be much appreciated!!!! Jon (if looked through countless tutorials and as of yet found nothing i can understand to achieve a project like this. Some would call me too ambitious, I just want to make a decent app)

• dojo layout tutorial dor version 1.7 doesn't work for 1.7.2

  This is sortof a continuation to dojo1.7 layout acting screwy. So I made some working widgets and tested them out, i then tried altering my work using the tutorial at http://dojotoolkit.org/documentation/tutorials/1.7/dijit_layout/ to make the layout nice. After failing at that in many interesting ways (thus my last question) I started on a new path. My plan is now to implement the layout tutorial example and then stick in my widgets. For some reason even following the tutorial wont work... everything loads then disappears and I'm left with a blank browser window. Any ideas? It just struck me that it could be browser compatibility issues, I'm working on Firefox 13.0.1. • Using pointers, references, handles to generic datatypes, as generic and flexible as possible

  In my application I have lots of different data types, e.g. Car, Bicycle, Person, ... (they're actually other data types, but this is just for the example). Since I also have quite some 'generic' code in my application, and the application was originally written in C, pointers to Car, Bicycle, Person, ... are often passed as void-pointers to these generic modules, together with an identification of the type, like this: Car myCar; ShowNiceDialog ((void *)&myCar, DATATYPE_CAR); The 'ShowNiceDialog' method now uses meta-information (functions that map DATATYPE_CAR to interfaces to get the actual data out of Car) to get information of the car, based on the given data type. That way, the generic logic only has to be written once, and not every time again for every new data type. Of course, in C++ you could make this much easier by using a common root class, like this class RootClass { public: string getName() const = 0; }; class Car : public RootClass { ... }; void ShowNiceDialog (RootClass *root); The problem is that in some cases, we don't want to store the data type in a class, but in a totally different format to save memory. In some cases we have hundreds of millions of instances that we need to manage in the application, and we don't want to make a full class for every instance. Suppose we have a data type with 2 characteristics: A quantity (double, 8 bytes) A boolean (1 byte) Although we only need 9 bytes to store this information, putting it in a class means that we need at least 16 bytes (because of the padding), and with the v-pointer we possibly even need 24 bytes. For hundreds of millions of instances, every byte counts (I have a 64-bit variant of the application and in some cases it needs 6 GB of memory). The void-pointer approach has the advantage that we can almost encode anything in a void-pointer and decide how to use it if we want information from it (use it as a real pointer, as an index, ...), but at the cost of type-safety. Templated solutions don't help since the generic logic forms quite a big part of the application, and we don't want to templatize all this. Additionally, the data model can be extended at run time, which also means that templates won't help. Are there better (and type-safer) ways to handle this than a void-pointer? Any references to frameworks, whitepapers, research material regarding this?

• Cocoa - does CGDataProviderCopyData() actually copy the bytes? Or just the pointer?

  I'm running that method in quick succession as fast as I can, and the faster the better, so obviously if CGDataProviderCopyData() is actually copying the data byte-for-byte, then I think there must be a faster way to directly access that data...it's just bytes in memory. Anyone know for sure if CGDataProviderCopyData() actually copies the data? Or does it just create a new pointer to the existing data?

• Facelets charset problem

  Hi! In my earlier post there was a problem with JSF charset handling, but also the other part of the problem was MySQL connection parameters for inserting data into db. The problem was solved. But, I migrated the same application from JSP to facelets and the same problem happened again. Characters from input fields are replaced when inserting to database (c is replaced with Ä), but data inserted into db from sql scripts with proper charset are displayed correctly. I'm still using registered filter and page templates are used with head meta tag as following: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2"> If I insert into h:form tag the following attribute: acceptcharset="iso-8859-2" I get correct characters in Firefox, but not in IE7. Is there anything else I should do to make it work? Thanks in advance.

  I've spent far too much time trying to figure this out. This should be the simplest thing and everyone who distributes Java applications in jars must have to deal with it. I just want to know the proper way to add versioning to my Java app so that I can access the version information when I'm testing, e.g. debugging in Eclipse and running from a jar. • Objects With No Behavior

  I've been teaching myself object oriented programming and I'm thinking about a situation where I have an object "Transaction", that has quite a few properties to it like account, amount, date, currency, type, etc. I never plan to mutate these data points, and calculation logic will live in other classes. My question is, is it poor Python design to instantiate thousands of objects just to hold data? I find the data far easier to work with embedded in a class rather than trying to cram it into some combination of data structures.

  I have the following problem. I have a Java project in my NetBeans IDE 6.8. When I compile it and it produces a .jar file containing everything possible, the META-INF is not right. It doesn't contain the class to be executed - with main() method. When I click the Run button inside the IDE, everything works. The settings of the project are also set the right way - pointing to a class in my project. I tried adding a folder META-INF with manifest file but I didn't manage. Is there a way to do this manually in NetBeans, because I found that if I add the missing Main class in the manifest, everything works.
