  • Spring + Hibernate session management

    I have been reading about using Spring with Hibernate and I am really confused about session management. Hopefully someone can clear a few things up for me, First of all I have no idea how sessions are managed when using HibernateTemplate. Is a session opened and closed when you call a method Eg Save() on the template? When you use the find() method, are detached objects returned? I have read the Spring section on transactions but it mostly talks about handling exceptions. I was hoping to find some way of binding a hibernate session to a Spring transaction so that I can commit changes to hibernate objects when the transaction finishes. Is there a way to achieve this?

  • mod_rewrite browser trying to get content from non-existant dir

    I have my mod_rewrite set up so that it redirects all requests that aren't targeting existing files or directories to index.php?req=* where * is the request. Works all fine but when I send the browser to something like this: http://myurl/A/B/C The browser tries to find all images, stylesheets in the non-existing folder C. How can I make the browser to look in / instead of the 'virtual' directory? Do I have to put an absolute path everywhere?

    hi, I am using jquery ajax method on my aspx page,which will invoke the webmethod in the code behind.Currently the webmethod takes a couple of parameters like firstname,lastname,address etc which I am passing from jquery ajax method using data:JSON.stringify({fname:firstname,lname:lastname,city:city}) now my requirement has been changed such that,the number and type of parameters that are going to be passed is not fixed for ex.parameter combination can be something like fname,city or fname,city or city,lname or fname,lname,city or something else.So the webmethod should be such that it should accept any number parameters.I thought of using arrays to do so, as described here. But I do not understand how can I identify which and how many parameters have been passed to the webmethod to insert/update the data to the DB.Please could someone help me with this? thanks

I will have to map data transfer objects (DTOs) to entities as the first operation on every method, process my inputs, then proceed to map from entities to DTOs. What would you do to skip writing this code?     I have been trying Xsendfile() method in Yii over 20 times and none of them gave me a result. Here is my code: $file_path = "D:/xampp/htdocs/mywebapp/protected/modules/file_upload".DS. 'views'.DS.'upload'.DS.testfile.".pdf"; Yii::app()->request->xSendFile($file_path ,array( 'saveName'=>$result['gen_name'] .".pdf", 'mimeType'=>'application/pdf', 'terminate'=>true, )); And despite changing the location of testfile.pdf everywhere on my hard drive, none of them works. I am nearly exhausted with this method. Anyone could help me from being headache? I am using windows and xampp 1.7.4. Thanks so much!

  • How do I indicate that a class doesn't support certain operators?

    I'm writing a class that represents an ordinal scale, but has no logical zero-point (eg time). This scale should permit addition and substraction (operator+, operator+=, ...) but not multiplication. Yet, I always felt it to be a good practice that when one overloads one operator of a certain group (in this case the math operators), one should also overload all the others that belong to that group. In this case that would mean I should need to overload the multiplication and division operators also, because if a user can use A+B he would probable expect to be able the other operators. Is there a method that I can use to throw an error for this at compiler time? The easiest method would be just no to overload the operators operator*, ... yet it would seem appropriate to add a bit more explaination than operator* is not know for class "time". Or is this something that I really should not care about (RTFM user)?

    I am trying to understand interfaces in Java and have this task to do which I am a stack with. It must be something easy, but I don't seem to see the solution. Interface contains a few methods, one of them should return true if all elements of this set are also in the set.   • In Scala 2.8 collections, why was the Traversable type added above Iterable?

    I know that to be Traversable, you need only have a foreach method. Iterable requires an iterator method. Both the Scala 2.8 collections SID and the "Fighting Bitrot with Types" paper are basically silent on the subject of why Traversable was added. The SID only says "David McIver... proposed Traversable as a generalization of Iterable." I have vaguely gathered from discussions on IRC that it has to do with reclaiming resources when traversal of a collection terminates? The following is probably related to my question. There are some odd-looking function definitions in TraversableLike.scala, for example: def isEmpty: Boolean = { var result = true breakable { for (x <- this) { result = false break } } result } I assume there's a good reason that wasn't just written as: def isEmpty: Boolean = { for (x <- this) return false true }

  • How can I link axes of imshow plots for zooming and panning?

    Suppose I have a figure canvas with 3 plots... 2 are images of the same dimensions plotted with imshow, and the other is some other kind of subplot. I'd like to be able to link the x and y axes of the imshow plots so that when I zoom in one (using the zoom tool provided by the NavigationToolbar), the other zooms to the same coordinates, and when I pan in one, the other pans as well. Subplot methods such as scatter and histogram can be passed kwargs specifying an axes for sharex and sharey, but imshow has no such configuration. I started hacking my way around this by subclassing NavigationToolbar2WxAgg (shown below)... but there are several problems here. 1) This will link the axes of all plots in a canvas since all I've done is get rid of the checks for a.in_axes() 2) This worked well for panning, but zooming caused all subplots to zoom from the same global point, rather than from the same point in each of their respective axes. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Now, the wicked bug: - when I run the startRecognition method in the beginning of the execution of the other application, this codes works very well. But when I run it some time after the beginning, this codes works but the handleRecognition method is never called. I see that the words are recognized because they appear on the Microsoft Speech Recognition app, but the handler method is never called. Do you know what's the problem with this code? NOTE: this project has some code that is allways being executed. Might that be the problem? Because the other code is running it doesn't allow it to this to run?

In the documentation of BigInteger.ToString() Method It says: The ToString() method supports 50 decimal digits of precision. That is, if the BigInteger value has more than 50 digits, only the 50 most significant digits are preserved in the output string; all other digits are replaced with zeros. I have some code that takes a 60 decimal digits BigInteger and converts it to a string. What exactly does the quoted part of the documentation mean?

  • Rewriting .each() loop as for loop to optimize, how to replicate $(this).attr()

    I running into some performance issues with a jquery script i wrote when running in ie so I'm going through it trying to optimize any way possible. Apparently using for loops is way faster than using the jQuery .each method. This has led me to a question regarding the equivalent of $(this) inside a for loop. I'm simplifying what I'm doing in my loop down to just using an attr() function as it gets across my main underlying question. Im doing this with each(simplified) var existing = $('#existing'); existing.each(function(){ console.log($(this).attr('id')); }); And I've tried rewriting it as a for loop as such: var existing = $('#existing'); for(var i = 0;i < existing.length;i++) { console.log(existing[i].attr('id')); } Its throwing an error saying: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<HTMLDivElement> has no method 'attr' Thanks.

  • Call Contact list on non-standard Android phones

    I am creating a widget that you can assign a contact to onClick. I used the method that is described here. This works great on standard Android phones such as the Motorola Droid, HTC Nexus One and HTC G1. The problem is for users who are using devices such as the HTC Incredible or HTC Droid Eris (Both running Sense UI) and I imagine on other phones who's OS deviates from the vanilla flavor of Android. Using my current method I thought that the device's OS would hook into whatever that manufacture chose to use for their Contact system however users are being sent to a random list of numbers, not their Contact list. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get those Contacts or is this just another example of the Android fragmentation issue? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

    Hi everybody! I'm developing a medium Java app, and i'm facing a small problem due to my lack of expirience. I've a custom DAO, which gets "Article" objects from the DataBase. I've the Article class, and the DAO has a method called getArticle(int id), this method returns an Article. The Article has a Category object, and i'm using lazy loading. So, when i request for an Article Category (Article a = new Article(); a.getCategory();) the Article class gets the Category from the DAO and then returns it. I'm now thinking to cache it, so when i request multiple times to an Article's category, the database is only queried one time. My question is: where should i put that cache? I can put it on the Article class (in the DTO), or i can put it on the DAO class. What do you say? Thanks!

    Hello all, I have developed an app and its written in PHP (with a bunch of SQL scripts), this app will be used by a few small companies. For them to use it, I will have to install Apache and SQL Server for them. Every method I have thought has fallen short of what I need. I was actually just hoping to use ZendGuard or IonCube but they don't support PHP 5.3.x. Is there a simpler method where I can maybe store a key in the database and make the app run only when it knows its on that server? Maybe create a key based on some random numbers/letters and the machine name, sql server host name and encode/decode this when ever the system is in use? Thanks all for any help or ideas
