• Is there a Cart/Catalog app out there that isnt a full site?

  Every solution i come across seems to be a complete store with far too many options and too much functionality. I can write my own cart to get the minimal functionality i need out of the frontend, im just trying to cut out the time writing a complex backend. What im really looking for is something that offers the backend functionality for a product catalog, order management, etc. while providing a smooth and consistent API to access the data for my completely custom frontend application. The frontend will be in PHP so the API would have to be native PHP or some kind of web service interface i can create my own php models around. It would need to run on a LAMP stack and would preferably be written in PHP, Python, or Ruby just in case i need to customize the backend (she curently has ZenCart and hates it - says its far too complicated and sophisticated for her needs). Does such a thing exist? Or what would be the next best thing?

• Solutions for redundant server and client code?

  In our system, the code which exists on the client side (in Flash and Javascript) mirrors the code that exists on the server side (e.g. in Python or PHP), normally with respect to the models, the methods available for those models, and the unit tests written for them. This becomes a problem in systems where you want to minimize data transfer (e.g. multiplayer games). I do not want to write the same code and unit tests redundantly for both the client and server, but I don't know of any standard solutions to deal with this. Basically, I want a language/compiler which can produce models and methods for three main languages: Actionscript, Javascript, and any server language. Does something like this exist?

• Python Daemon Subprocess not working at boot

  I am attempting to write a python daemon that will launch at boot. The goal of the script is to receive a job from our gearman load balancing server and complete the job. I am using the python-daemon module from pypi (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/python-daemon/). The nature of the job that it is completing is converting images in the orf (olympus raw image format) to jpeg. In order to accomplish this an outside program is used, ufraw in this case. The problem comes in when I start the daemon at boot, if I launch from the shell it runs perfectly and completes the work. • How do you verify the correct data is in a data mart?

  I'm working on a data warehouse and I'm trying to figure out how to best verify that data from our data cleansing (normalized) database makes it into our data marts correctly. I've done some searches, but the results so far talk more about ensuring things like constraints are in place and that you need to do data validation during the ETL process (E.g. dates are valid, etc.). The dimensions were pretty easy as I could easily either leverage the primary key or write a very simple and verifiable query to get the data. The fact tables are more complex. Any thoughts? We're trying to make this very easy for a subject matter export to run a couple queries, see some data from both the data cleansing database and the data marts, and visually compare the two to ensure they are correct.

• How to set response header in JAX-RS so that user sees download popup for Excel?

  I wrote code that generate Excel file using REST JAX-RS and I confirmed that the generated Excel file is in GlassFish server directory. But my goal is when user click on the button (which generate Excel .xls), I want download popup to show up asking user whether to save or open the .xls file just like any other web services doing for downloading any type of files. According to my search, the step is: generate Excel .xls (DONE) write the excel to stream in JAX-RS file, set response header to something like, String fileName = "Blah_Report.xls"; response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); My question is I'm doing all of this in JAX-RS file and I don't have HttpServletResponse object available. According to the answer from Add Response Header to JAX-RS Webservice He says: You can inject a reference to the actual HttpServletResponse via the @Context annotation in your webservice and use addHeader() etc. to add your header. I can't really figure what exactly that means without sample code..

• How to set parameters in Python zlib module

  I want to write a Python program that makes PNG files. My big problem is with generating the CRC and the data in the IDAT chunk. Python 2.6.4 does have a zlib module, but there are extra settings needed. The PNG specification REQUIRES the IDAT data to be compressed with zlib's deflate method with a window size of 32768 bytes, but I can't find how to set those parameters in the Python zlib module. As for the CRC for each chunk, the zlib module documentation indicates that it contains a CRC function. I believe that calling that CRC function as crc32(data,-1) will generate the CRC that I need, though if necessary I can translate the C code given in the PNG specification. Note that I can generate the rest of the PNG file and the data that is to be compressed for the IDAT chunk, I just don't know how to properly compress the image data for the IDAT chunk after implementing the initial filtering step.

I'm trying to write a component that shows a tree of folders & was curious if there was a prebuilt curses component that could do this. I've checked 'core' curses as well as libraries like CDK - and I can't seem to find anything. • [C#] SerialPort not taking input. It throws it back at me!

  When I try to write an AT command to my GSM modem, it does not seem to take the command. I have used PuTTY to check that the command words, it does. I have checked to see if the port is opening, it does. What could I possibly be doing wrong?   Hi, I'm trying to understand how mod_rewrite works. I've been using it before but this week I tried to write rules to a new website and it doesn't works.   Currently in the program I am attempting to write I need to be able to get a pointer to a member function within a member function of the same class. The pointer needs to be passed to a function as a void (*)().   Hi, while trying to use the "InfoStrat"-Bing-Maps-Control in Expression Blend 4 for my Surface Application, I get the error message: "Mixed mode assembly is built against version v2.0.50527 of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information" I already found out that I need to write this configfile: <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup> </configuration> But Expression Blend doesn't seem to recognize that it is there.   Hi, I do not understand how following code works. Specifically, I do not understand using of "return i<3". I would expect return i IF its < than 3. I always though that return just returns value. I could not even find what syntax is it. Second question, it seems to me like using anonymous method (delegate(int i)) but could be possible to write it with normal delegate pointing to method elsewere? • Any good GUI tool to easily create stored procs SQL server 2008 ?

  The templates for stored-procs in SSMS do not auto-populate all input columns, again there is manual work involved. I am looking for something like right-click on table and say CREATE stored-proc, and then it allows to pick a template, based on which it can populate the parameters etc. and give check-box in GUI (like table designer, you can easily add/remove a column). Some support for change management with table undergoing alter or otherwise would also be helpful. Currently we manually write all stored-procs, which i think we should be able to save time and labor with automation. Any suggestion on other free 3rd party tools ?

• Export GridView to TXT, then upload file to server

  Basically what I want to do is export an array (or GridView) to a file called "getpathin.dat". That is easy, but the method I am using downloads the file to my computer, which is what I don't want. I want to write an array to either a PRE-EXISTING file that is on the server OR create a new file on the server in a folder, and this new file will contain either the array or the gridview, which I have stored in the array. i'll be doing this in... • Manually Writing the HTML in TWebBrowser

  I am using the strategy suggested here: http://cc.embarcadero.com/Item/23992 to get my HTML in the TWebBrowser, but I get a bunch of JavaScript errors when the page loads. If I click yes enough times I can see a page with no formatting and I'm guessing the page does nothing. My theory is that because the links in the HTML are relative, the browser can't load any of it. I have switch from passing the URL, 'about:blank' to the navigate function, to passing the servers home page - in the hopes that some internal mechanism will be able to generate full paths, but no luck. Any one successfully been able to manually write HTML to the TWebBrowser.

  i am learning c programming. I am trying to make my own program similar to ls command but with less options.what i am doing is taking input directory/file name as argument and then gets all directory entry with dirent struct(if it is directory) . After it i use stat() to take all information of the file but here is my problem when i use write() to print these value its fine but when i want to print these with printf() i get warninng : format ‘%ld’ expects type ‘long int’, but argument 2 has type ‘__uid_t’. I don't know what should use at place of %ld and also for other special data types.

  How can you make the .xla file if you want to create your own xla? I have the code, classes, shapes, etc....what is the process to making an xla file to point to? I know that I have to put it in my program files folder, and then go through the steps to adding an "add-in" in xls...but i mean actually saving an xla file to point to.... can i simply write all this in xls and then save it as file type xla?? because i have tried to do that but I get an error that it is not a valid add in when I am in a spreadsheet trying to point to it? thanks!

  Hi all, I am trying to write a praat script to do preprocessing on hundreds of speach samples. I need to extract speech features from each sample and feed these as imputs into a feed-forward neural network. I have already constructed the network using math-lab. However, learing to script in praat is proving to be quite a challenge given my time constraints. Some of my samples are 0.01 to 0.03 seconds in length, I was looking at standardising the duration for all samples using Pitch Synchronous OverLap-Add(PSOLA). However this will be very tedious if I were to do this for every sample. Is there any script that can read in all of my files and perform the operations in a batch mode? Any guidance will be surelly appreaciated. Regards.

  Hi I'm developing a phonegap + JQueryMobile app, which should be correctly executed on Android, iOs and WindowsPhone as well. I need to exploit an external service wich requires one callback url to redirect the app to in case of success, and one in case of error (pretty common situation. In my case both will be local files, say www/success.html and www/error.html). Of course I could write different paths for each device (e.g. file:///android_asset/www/success.html on Android), but i'm wondering if the framework provide a more simple elegant solution. So the questions is, how can i get a unique absolute URL wich allows me to perform a cross-platform HTTP redirection from a remote web page to a local file within a phonegap application? Thanks

• Web App fails when moved to production environment. Which server permissions do I need?

  I have developed a small web app. This app allows users to upload images. It also produces text files with the names of those images (the names are stored and retrieved to/from an MySQL Database.) I have developed this app using MAMP. To create the uploaded image files I use the PHP function imagejpeg('my/path/name.jpg') and to delete the files I use the PHP function unlink('folder1/folder2/name.jpg') to write to the text document I am using the function fopen('folder1/folder2/name.txt', 'w') all three of these functions produce errors related to permissions - now the site has been moved to a live hosting environment. Why is this? and what permissions do I need to set the folder's folder1 and folder2 to? I know that permission 777 is generally bad because it opens up your server to the public. However what I have found is that the functions fail to work unless I use 777 on the folders. Can anyone shed any light on my dilemma?
