• Tortoise svn Subversion Update Error

  Hey All, I recently was working on an open source project... Everything was going great for a week or two but them something happened and I don't know what, and I can't update anymore! I know the url is correct, because I can check it out on my linux server... but when I try to check it out with tortoise svn on my windows box it doesn't work. The error message I'm getting is this OPTIONS of 'http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/flex/sdk/branches': 200 OK (http://opensource.adobe.com) Does anyone know what that means. The 200 OK part seems odd to me... it connected to the server but wasn't able to get the code? And what does OPTIONS of... mean? I've looked around, and some people were having proxy issues... but i'm not behind a proxy, and I made sure that tortoise svn is not trying to use a proxy. If anyone could help, that would be great! • How do I get my Flash CS4 buttons to direct the user to another URL?

  My apologies if this has been fully addressed before, but I've read through several other threads and still can't seem to get my file to work. My actionscript code is at the bottom of this message. • FileReference.browse() stops playback on some Flash Players

  We have an issue were the server session associated with a Flex client times out when the browse file dialog is open for a time longer then the configured session timeout. It seems that on some players, the playback is stopped when browse or download on a FileReference is executing. This also causes remote calls to be blocked and hence our manual keep-alive messages are not sent to the server, resulting in a session timeout. I searched for some info on this in the docs and found a notice of it, but it does not explicitly list the players it does (not) work. Would anyone know were I could find a complete list? • flex 4 release changes to application are not showing up.

  I just took over a clients flex project and I can't get the app to reflect even a simple trace statement. Before I took over, the project was last successfully built using the Flash Builder Beta 2 environment/sdk. I have the latest release version of Flash Builder 4. Upon importing the project into FB4, I got a ton of errors. Most of them mostly because of the changes made to the sdk from beta2 to release. Some of the things I corrected: - mx namespace from library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo to library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx - video player skinning: a lot of the state names for the video player component had been changed, more required states had been added. also there were other video related component and property names that had to be updated. But I fixed all that and the application was finally able to compile (although with some warnings mostly of the duplicate variable type) The only thing now is that whatever change I make to the project doesn't get reflected in the build (debug or release). I changed existing traces, added additional traces. Nothing shows up. I even removed the applicationComplete property in the main.mxml. Everything still ran like nothing changed. Also I can't seem to debug the app. Whenever I try to debug.. flash builder says.. "Swf Application doesn't contain the required debugging information ... " Anyone have any idea how I need to even begin tackling all this? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

• Importing Excel spreadsheet data into existing Access DB

  I've designed an Access 2003 DB with 3 tables: APPLICATIONS, SERVERS, and INSTALLATIONS. Records in the APPLICATIONS and SERVERS tables are uniquely identified by a synthetic primary key (in Access, an "auto number"). The INSTALLATIONS table is essentially a mapping table between APPLICATIONS and SERVERS: it's a list of records of which applications are installed on which servers. A record in the INSTALLATIONS table is also identified by a synthetic primary key, and it consists of an APPLICATION_ID and SERVER_ID for the records in their respective tables. I have an Excel 2003 spreadsheet I would like to import into this database, but it's proving difficult. The spreadsheet is made up of several tabs/worksheets, each one representing a server with its own listing of installed applications. I'm not sure how to proceed with an import - the "Get External Data -- Import" feature in Access has an import "In an Existing Table" option, but it's greyed out. I'm also unsure how I build the relationships between applications and servers for importing records into the INSTALLATIONS table. I had previously fooled around with adding some security to the Access DB file. I think I removed everything but perhaps I didn't and that's causing the problem?   Hello I am making a general question since I am a developer and I have no advance experience on video elaboration. I have to preparare a web application with the purpose to allow video files upload on our company server and then video elaboration by server, on user command. The purpose of the web application is to allow to the user to make some elaboration on video depending on user action launch from the web app: (server has to ) convert video in different format(mp4, flv...) extact keyframes from video and saves them in jpeg format possibility to extract audio from video automatic control of quality audio & video (black frames,silences detection) change scene detection and keyframe extraction ..... This what's my bosses wanted from the web based application (with the server support obviously), and I understand only the first 3 points of this list, the rest for me was arabic.... My question is: Which is the best and fastest server side application for this works, that can support multiple batch video conversions, from command line (comand line for php-soap-socket interaction or something else..)? Is suitable Adobe Media Server for batch video conversion? Which are adobe products that can be used for this purpose? Note: I have experience with Indesign Server scripting programing (sending xml with php and soap call...), and I am looking to something similiar for video elaboration. I will appreciate any answers. • Reading PDF form field data from Flex 4 ( via php or coldfusion )

  Been searching web for an answer for this for a MONTH. I am not an expert in Coldfusion. So supposedly this is easy in CF -- but the mark-up confuses the HECK out of me. So here I am. I have managed to import and read a PDF using the CF Proxy for Actionscript: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/754629?tstart=0 --- BUT --- After all my trouble there, the precious form filed information that I was looking for was not there in the PDF info object. GRRRR. So I am back to looking for a way to do this with CFC's or CFM's or PHP. All I want is this: Read the PDF from a Flex app. GET the form field information. WRITE a new PDF with the form field values. I have found so many close but no cigar options ... and I have tried so many that failed. There are so many free PDF this and that out there. But Adobe seems to reserve the real functionality for themselves. All the free options don't seem to have access to the form data? Anyways I am so exhausted with looking for ways to do this. I need help!

• How can I pretty print erb in BBedit indenting rails tags and not just markup?

  I want to re-indent my code but the rails tags <% foo %> get aligned to the left with no indentation. What I'm using is: markup utilities format pretty print Does anyone know if there is a way to reconfigure this behavior? UPDATE: I just found this out but cant seem to get it working: "The 'Pretty print' option for Markup - Utilities - Format is now implemented internally using a Dreamweaver-style source format profile. This affords slightly prettier output than was possible before. Advanced users can override the factory format profile by placing an appropriately constructed file at ~/Library/Application Support/BBEdit/SourceFormat.profile." I opened the bbedit app package, found the file, copied it to the folder indicated in "application support" and tweaked the desired indentation width just as a test before touching anything else, and it doesnt seem to do anything.

• Is there a real code-free webpage design tool ?

  Recently I was doing web design. I found that the current web design tool (like Expression Web, Dreamweaver) is terribly coupled with code. Though I managed to use HTML, CSS and many others, I found those tool not free enough when came to design. What I want is a totaly code-free design tool with which I can use to draw the layout, paste pictures, add texts and so on. It doesn't need to have functionality to covert the design into code because I can do it myself. That is to say, I need the software to create a blueprint for me. I'm currently using Photoshop to do this. However it is too stupid in displying the layout (It can't show the width and many other attributes, I had to draw them by myself). Can you find one for me? • Subversion for web designer: repository on a network share and ftp to the live server?

  My configuration: htdocs on a windows network share (z:) web developers check out with dreamweaver modify and check in back to the drive z LAMP running on a Ubuntu server virtualized on Hyper-V with apache that point on the z drive for dev in order to test the websites Upload by FTP on the live server Now: I need multiple access to the repository, keep them on a network shares and we manage about 200 websites. All the web developers, administrators and IT need to access to the share. I found out that creating a svn server is the best way for me, so I created it on a Ubuntu Server which is virtualized on Hyper-V. Right now I have the repos local on the Ubuntu Server but I'd like them on my network drive and I'd like to have a post-commit, if possible, in order to ftp directly on my live server. Do you guys think that a WebDav solution would be better? Thanks in advance Angelo

  What do you need to know to at the very least get your foot in the door? We're assuming for someone who doesn't have a college degree (yet) but will eventually get one. My guess is html, css, javascript, and php, and photoshop and dreamweaver, and sql. And being familiar with using a web host to have sites live, like knowing how to use cpanel. It's probably a very inaccurate and narrow guess but that's what i think right now. I don't know exactly.

• Why can I not access any file or directory created by PHP from FTP-client?

  Hello there, If I create a directory with mkdir(), or create a file with fopen(), file_put_contents() or SimpleXMLElement::asXML(), I am unable to access the file with my FTP-client or c-Panel File Manager. If I try to delete or edit them, I get errors. Dreamweaver suggests it is a permission problem or a network or filesystem fault (but I've set the permissions with chmod() to 0777, and when I check the cPanel, it confirms chmod 777. I also tried to use fileowner() and the function returns int(99), the same owner as those files that I could access with my FTP-client. It seems files and directories created with PHP can only be modified or be deleted with PHP. I thought this must be a server setup related issue, so I write it here. I am on a shared server, and I have no idea about setting up servers. Thank you for your time. Kind regards Marius

• How to handle growing QA reporting requirements?

  Some Background: Our company is growing very quickly - in 3 years we've tripled in size and there are no signs of stopping any time soon. Our marketing department has expanded and our IT requirements have as well. When I first arrived everything was managed in Dreamweaver and Excel spreadsheets and we've worked hard to implement bug tracking, version control, continuous integration, and multi-stage deployment. It's been a long hard road, and now we need to get more organized. The Problem at Hand: Management would like to track, per-developer, who is generating the most issues at the QA stage (post unit testing, regression, and post-production issues specifically). This becomes a fine balance because many issues can't be reported granularly (e.g. per-url or per-"page") but yet that's how Management would like reporting to be broken down. Further, severity has to be taken into account. We have drafted standards for each of these areas specific to our environment. Developers don't want to be nicked for 100+ instances of an issue if it was a problem with an include or inheritance... I had a suggestion to "score" bugs based on severity... but nobody likes that. We can't enter issues for every individual module affected by a global issue. [UPDATED] The Actual Questions: How do medium sized businesses and code shops handle bug tracking, reporting, and providing useful metrics to management? What kinds of KPIs are better metrics for employee performance? What is the most common way to provide per-developer reporting as far as time-to-close, reopens, etc.? Do large enterprises ignore the efforts of the individuals and rather focus on the team? Some other questions: Is this too granular of reporting? Is this considered 'blame culture'? If you were the developer working in this environment, what would you define as a measureable goal for this year to track your progress, with the reward of achieving the goal a bonus?

• Cannot access personal website from home IP. More details inside.

  This is a recent problem I've been having. My site can be accessed from almost everywhere else except from my home IP, where I do most of my editing/updating, etc. I've tested my connection from my school's network, a friend's connection from out of state (multiple states), and through a tethered connection with my friend's Android. It works in all those cases, both viewing, accessing the cPanel, and using FTP. Here's the problem that happens to me when I try to view it from my home IP: The page times out in Firefox, IE, and Chrome. Using the cmd, I ran tracert and ping, both as failed attempts. Log here. downforeveryoneorjustme.com says my site is up. So do the other site checkers. I can't access my cPanel or FTP accounts. I can't access the host site. (I use perfectz.info for hosting, and I can't access their site either.) System settings: No firewall enabled. Ports are seemingly properly forwarded. (e.g. The ports are open in the router settings, and are open everywhere else.) I have an email forwarder set up from the cPanel that works just fine. (i.e. I can receive emails sent to that address. If any other information is needed, I'll do my best to provide it. UPDATE @ilhan: I use two things: 1) The site cPanel from in-browser. 2) Dreamweaver CS5 FTP. @Matthias: I tested both, and it passes the dual stack with a 10/10. What should I do then?

• Recommendations for a web-based help system

  Hi Experts, I'm putting together a fairly large GUI. I'm a tech person, but more on the hardware side, not software. I'm wondering what software package would be best suited to enable me to generate a web-based help-system. Preferably it takes care of a lot of coding, allowing me to focus on the content. For example, the user would click on a link in the GUI when they have a question, that brings them to a web-based Help Guide, for example, providing an overview of how to use the GUI, perhaps a searchable index (key-word based index), table of contents, etc, for navigating through the Help Guide. My first thought was to program everything in XHTML using Dreamweaver, but my layout requirements are fairly modest (just figures and text, maybe a few equations), and I'd prefer not to spend a lot of time concentrating on the programming. Was wondering if any software existed that made generating web-based navigatable pages easy to create/publish. Again, I'm not really a programmer, so if there's something obvious out there, I'm probably not aware of it. Any advice much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

• pros-cons of separate hosting accounts versus using addon domain

  Folks: For historical reasons, I have "Site A" on "Hosting Account A", and "Site B" on "Account B", totally independent accounts with the same vendor, Bluehost. Both are primary domains. Now that Hosting Account B is just about to expire, I'm considering letting it disappear and moving Site B to an Addon domain on "Account A". Both sites are non-commercial, narrow-interest, very-low-traffic, hundreds of page views per month. The file weights for the sites are non-trivial, especially as I like to install specialized CMSs in subdomains. Since Bluehost allows unlimited hosting space there should be no issue with the file load, except I've seen hints of an issue with total file count, maybe 50k files -- which I'm not currently close to hitting, but might eventually. My question: what are the pros and cons of using separate accounts versus hosting Site B as an addon domain? Obviously, using a single account is cheaper by half, and I know that my authoring environment (DreamWeaver CS5) complains when it detects nested source trees, telling me "Synchronization" might fail in such cases, but I don't depend on this feature. What other factors should I consider? TIA

• Choosing open source vs. proprietary CMS

  Hi- I've been tasked with redesigning a website for a small academic library. While only in charge of the site for 6 months, we've been maintaining static html pages edited in Dreamweaver for years. Last count of our total pages is around 400. Our university is going with an enterprise level solution called Sitefinity, although we maintain our own domain and are responsible to maintain our own presense. Some background-my library has a couple Microsoft IIS servers on which this static html site has been running. I'm advocating for the implementation of a CMS while doing this redesign. The problem is I'm basically the lone webmaster so I have no one to agree or disagree with my choice. There are also only 1-2 content editors right know for the site but a CMS could change that factor. I would like to use the functionality of having servers that run .NET and MS SQL but am more experience setting up and maintaining open source software like Wordpress or Drupal on web hosts. My main concern is choosing a CMS that will be easy to update / maintain / deal with upgrades (i.e., support) in case I'm not there in the future. So I'm wondering how to factor in the open source CMS vs. a relatively inexpensive commercial CMS decision and whether choosing PHP/MySQL vs. ASP.net framework for development environment will play into my decision.   I am currently choosing between Intel Core i7-3770 (quad, Ivy) and Intel Core i7-3930K (6 cores, Sandy Bridge-E). This machine will be used for both work (Adobe, Autodesk software, graphic and coding-related) and gaming. Even if some applications I will use are capable to utilize all 6 cores at once, is it worth preferring Sandy Bridge-E to newer Ivy Bridge? Games aren't and probably will perform better on Ivy, won't they? 6-core is also twice as expensive as a quad Ivy.

• Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

  Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware? Clearly, I don't want to shell out a lot of money for something so simple, so getting adobe premiere or similar software is a no go. I could however consider paying a small software (max 30 dollars) for this specific task.

  I'm about to format a machine and I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to copy an Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard (9.2.0) license so I can reload the software. I have several re-install disks that were sent as part of Dell's packaging but have no idea how to tie the disc to the license so I was hoping to just be able to copy a specific file or something and reload using a random Acrobat 9 Standard disc.
