  I have deployed one web project into Azure emulator. And I get this error saying that Could not load file or assembly Base. The thing is that this web project, got dependencies to another project in the same solution. I have added that dependency into the reference list of my web project. And if I run this web application without using the azure emulator it will run fine. But I will get error when I try to run it on the azure emulator. At first glance I thought that I maybe need to add the other project as role also. But it couldn't be that. Anyone know what the problem might be? I hope I got enough data for you to look into. My solution structure looks like following Solution Base WebAPI WebAPI.Azure And it is the WebAPI that has a dependency to the Base project Here's the Assembly load trace WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.   I am developing a SaaS App, and I want to decide for a PaaS Vendor. Since one of my biggest concerns is uptime, is there an application or service, that allows me to use several PaaS Vendors (like Azure, Google App Engine, Amazon Web Services, etc.)? I want my application to be able to respond from one PaaS Vendor to another almost instantly without any downtime, to use the redundancy that this provides. This means that I need to be able to use the different services homogeneously.

• JSON array deserialization is crashing the Dalvik VM

  I have some code grabbing a JSON array from my server and initially storing it as a string. This all works fine until I try and deserialize it using google's gson fromJson method. LogCat spits out the error: 04-08 17:46:35.163: ERROR/dalvikvm(401): Can't shrink stack: curFrame is in reserved area (0x41049000 0x410491c4) My code that causes the error is: String[] results = gson.fromJson(returnString, String[].class); Can anyone shed some light on what I am doing wrong? • "Mem Usage" higher than "VM Size" in WinXP Task Manager

  In my Windows XP Task Manager, some processes display a higher value in the Mem Usage column than the VMSize. My Firefox instance, for example shows 111544 K as mem usage and 100576 K as VMSize. According to the help file of Task Manager Mem Usage is the working set of the process and VMSize is the committed memory in the Virtual address space. My question is, if the number of committed pages for a process is A and the number of pages in physical memory for the same process is B, shouldn't it always be B = A? Isn't the number of pages in physical memory per process a subset of the committed pages? Or is this something to do with sharing of memory among processes? Please explain. (Perhaps my definition of 'Working Set' is off the mark). Thanks.

I see that we have llvm-g++ and c-lang, but to me, a LLVM is something almost like Valgrind of a simulator, where instructions are executed on it, and I can write programs to instrument the running code / interrupt when certain conditions happen / etc ... Where are the tools like this built on LLVM? Thanks!

• Java HotSpot 1.6 VM, Garbage Collection - Scary PermGen

  Hi, My app shows rising 'Old Generation'/'Tenured Generation' size, and when this reaches the max limit for 'Old Gen', then suddenly PermGen size increases. Here are my generation sizings: -Xmx1200m -Xms1200m -Xmn450m -XX:MaxPermSize=600m -XX:+UseParallelGC This is on 32 bit Fedora so can't have a bigger heap than this. The app is not doing any fancy classloading, though it is using Spring IOC and Hibernate, the Spring App-context.xml defines some 1000 Beans. This app starts with 175MB PermGen, which steadily increases to ~250MB in few hrs, stays that way till Tenured Generation reached ~780 MB, then permgen jumps to ~500MB while Old Gen drops to ~500MB. This forces me to restart the App on daily basis, and gives me real scare of looming OutOfMemory Error.. Any insights would be very helpful. Thanks Gala101

  Hello, I'd like to import a real Windows Server 2008 server as a Hyper-V Virtual Server on another Windows Server 2008 instance. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I'm looking at the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 but it doesn't seem to import Windows Server 2008 - nor is it free. Is there some other workaround (i.e. import the image into VMWare first, then convert to Hyper-V)? Please help. Regards, Randall

• Passing arguments to java vm from NSIS script

  I'm developing my first java application using Eclipse. I've recently needed to adjust the amount of memory allocated by passing -Xmx256M to the JVM. The application is currently package up as a runnable jar and installed using the NSIS. I'm having a problem passing arguments to the jar file once its installed. What is the common practice for doing this? Here is what I'm currently doing in my nsi file: CreateShortcut "$SMPROGRAMS\$StartMenuGroup\$(^Name).lnk" "$SYSDIR\javaw.exe" "-jar -Xmx256M $INSTDIR\Foo.jar" This results in the following being created as the shortcut Target on windows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar Unfortunately this does not work due to the space in C:\Program Files, If I change the link created manually to include quotes all is well: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M "C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar"

  Hi, I'm using ListView to display images which I provide through an ImageAdapter class. it works great on my device (and on many other devices which I tested it on), but somehow when I'm using the emulator and I'm long-pressing the up/down button - I'm getting an outOfMemory error after 10-15 seconds. I tried clearing cache, canceling cache, etc. - nothing helped. I know this crash is pretty rare (i couldn't reproduced it on any "real" device), but I can see on DDMS that "GC freed" are getting bigger during that long press and I can't find a way to clear them. Any help will be appreciated, Tnx.

  Look at this piece of code: MessageParser parser = new MessageParser(); for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { parser.parse(plainMessage, user); } For some reason, it runs SLOWER (by about 100ms) than for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { MessageParser parser = new MessageParser(); parser.parse(plainMessage, user); } Any ideas why? The tests were repeated a lot of times, so it wasn't just random. How could creating an object 10000 times be faster than creating it once?

• VLAN issues between linux kernels 2.6 / 3.3 in an ESX / Cisco environment

  I shall attempt to explain an issue I have encountered - I have a VM running on esx 4.1 with an interface connected to VLAN800 via an access port on a cisco 3750. It runs linux - kernel 2.6.24, and has about 5 to 10 Mbit of chatter on 10.10.0.0/16 and various multicast addresses to look after. I needed to isolate certain devices from certain other devices on the network, with all of them having to talk to that one VM. No, the address space can't be separated, nor can the networks be easily vlan'd apart. The software on the VM listens to one interface only. Private vlans appear to be the way to go. So as a test, I built a bridge on the VM that globs together the vlans as needed. All good, everything works as expected. But occasionally (sigh) there's some latency that trips up a couple of profinet devices on the network because, you know, you're not really supposed to trunk real-time protocols around the place willy-nilly. I shift it to our test/backup server - works nicely, but I don't want it to be running on the test server as we muck around with that a lot. So I says to myself, "I'll put it on a new VM for testing and tweaking." I download a small linux distro with kernel 3.3, and install as a new VM with a the vlans as separate interfaces for testing. I power up the testing VM - ok. I bring up all the separate interfaces - ok. I can ping the production VM, see all sorts of traffic going past with tshark, etc. I build a bridge and put the primary vlan on it - the production VM running 2.6 immediately loses its multicast traffic - Unicast is fine. (?) I shut down the bridge - still no multicast traffic (!?) I power-cycle the production VM(!?!?) - multicast traffic returns. I trunk everything into the testing VM and create vlan interfaces under linux instead - same result, as soon as I start the bridge.... no multicast on the production VM. Ok, so I take a break and leave things alone. I decide to play with a couple of ubiquiti bullet radios - I'm testing various firmware as a side project. I flash a radio with Open-wrt-12.09. I enable a trunk on a port on a cisco on our network so I can muck around with multiple vlans and SSIDs I power up the radio and connect - ok. I create a vlan interface from the trunk.... the same vlan as the production VM wayyyyy over there, three cisco routers away. Ok. I bridge the vlan interface to the wifi interface and immediately get a phone call. The production VM has (suprise!) lost its multicast traffic. Again, nothing comes back until I power-cycle the VM. What the hell is going on?
