  • Do I use phing locale or remote?

    - by m99
I have a question related to phing. Do I use it on my local development machine to deploy an application or do I call it via ssh from production machine? I'm not sure where to do the steps from Eran Galperin (What is your preferred PHP deployment strategy). I'm a beginner with deployment scripts. So be forgiving :) Marco

  • JSF Composite Component

    - by purecharger
    I'm trying to create a composite component for use in my Seam application, and I'm running into problems with the simplest "hello, world" component. I have placed a file named hello.xhtml in {jboss deploy}/application.ear/application.war/resources/greet : <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:composite="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite"> <head> <title>My First Composite Component</title> </head> <body> <composite:interface> <composite:attribute name="who"/> </composite:interface> <composite:implementation> <h:outputText value="Hello, #{cc.attrs.who}!"/> </composite:implementation> </body> </html> Now in home.xhtml, located at the root of my webapp ({jboss deploy}/application.ear/application.war/home.xhtml): <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <ui:composition xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:g="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite/greet" xmlns:s="http://jboss.com/products/seam/taglib" template="layout/template.xhtml"> <ui:define name="content"> <div id="content"> <g:hello who="World"/> <br/> </div> </ui:define> </ui:composition> But my "hello, world" is not displayed, and I dont get any error messages, even when I turn on debug level logging for com.sun and javax.faces categories. Any ideas?

  • rails assets give TypeError (can't dup NilClass)

    - by paleozogt
I have a rails 3 app that works fine when run under rails s. However, when trying to deploy it to apache2 with fcgi, the asset pipeline breaks. For example, when trying to request /assets/logo.png the log will show: Started GET "/assets/logo.png" for 10.50.10.249 at Tue Apr 10 19:20:39 -0400 2012 TypeError (can't dup NilClass): This happens on either the production or development environments. How can I debug this?

  • SSRS Broken Embedded Image

    - by CodeGrue
I have a SQL Server Reporting Services report with an embedded image in the header. It works fine in preview mode and if I inspect the RDL file, it has the encoded image stream in there. However, when I deploy the report to the server and view the report in the Report Manager, the image shows with a broken X icon. Has anyone experienced this?

  • java ee server similar to cassini

    - by Casey
I primarily use Tomcat and Glassfish for Java EE development at work, but was wondering if anyone knew of any small application servers like Cassini for ASP.NET that would make building and testing faster? I would still eventually deploy to one of our production tomcat/glassfish servers, but would prefer something that is simpler and quicker. I am probably going to take jetty and geronimo for a spin, any others I should check out?

  • IntelliJ IDEA "Tomcat manager" application

    - by Jon
Hello, I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 9.0.2 but I assume this question applies to previous versions as well. In the Run/Debug Configurations dialog there is an option called "Deploy 'Tomcat Manager' application", but I haven't been able to find any documentation for how to use it in the IntelliJ help or online. Has anyone had experience using this, and know what URL I could use to access it once Tomcat is running? Thanks!

  • Does RIA Services requires an extra install on the server?

    - by jkohlhepp
If I want to deploy an ASP.NET application that hosts RIA Services endpoints for a Silverlight application, do I have to install anything extra on the web server? Or is it just some extra DLLs that can be deployed to my applications Bin folder? I know that when you are doing RIA Services development there are additional toolkits and what-not to install, but I'm not sure if those are needed on the server.

  • Java Web Start vs Embedded Java Applet

    - by Matt H
Hi, I'm going to deploy my Java game to show it to my friends and whatnot, but I'm having trouble deciding between Java Web Start and applets. Under what conditions is one preferable over another and what advantages/disadvantages are there?

  • alternatedocroot

    - by ring bearer
Using Sun Glassfish Enterprise server v2.1.1 I am using "alternatedocroot" via sun-web.xml for my web application to abstract out static content from actual deploy-able code (EAR/WAR) What I have is a cluster of two server instances distributed across two physical hosts - HOST1 and HOST2. "alternatedocroot" points to /data/static-content/ on both HOST1 and HOST2. Would DAS (Domain application server )take care of syncing /data/static-content between HOST1 and HOST2 if I use syncinstances=true option while starting up the cluster? Thanks!

  • VSTS test deployment and invalid assembly culture

    - by Merlyn Morgan-Graham
I have a DLL that I'm testing, which links to a DLL that has what I think is an invalid value for AssemblyCulture. The value is "Neutral" (notice the upper-case "N"), whereas the DLL I'm testing, and every other DLL in my project, has a value of "neutral" (because they specify AssemblyCulture("")). When I try to deploy the DLL that links to the problem DLL, I get this error in VSTS: Failed to queue test run '...': Culture is not supported. Parameter name: name Neutral is an invalid culture identifier. <Exception>System.Globalization.CultureNotFoundException: Culture is not supported. Parameter name: name Neutral is an invalid culture identifier. at System.Globalization.CultureInfo..ctor(String name, Boolean useUserOverride) at System.Globalization.CultureInfo..ctor(String name) at System.Reflection.RuntimeAssembly.GetReferencedAssemblies(RuntimeAssembly assembly) at System.Reflection.RuntimeAssembly.GetReferencedAssemblies() at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.Utility.AssemblyLoadWorker.ProcessChildren(Assembly assembly) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.Utility.AssemblyLoadWorker.GetDependentAssemblies(String path) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.Utility.AssemblyLoadWorker.GetDependentAssemblies(String path) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.Utility.AssemblyLoadStrategy.GetDependentAssemblies(String path) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.Utility.AssemblyHelper.GetDependentAssemblies(String path, DependentAssemblyOptions options, String configFile) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestManagement.DeploymentManager.GetDependencies(String master, String configFile, TestRunConfiguration runConfig, DeploymentItemOrigin dependencyOrigin, List`1 dependencyDeploymentItems, Dictionary`2 missingDependentAssemblies) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestManagement.DeploymentManager.DoDeployment(TestRun run, FileCopyService fileCopyService) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestManagement.ControllerProxy.SetupTestRun(TestRun run, Boolean isNewTestRun, FileCopyService fileCopyService, DeploymentManager deploymentManager) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestManagement.ControllerProxy.SetupRunAndListener(TestRun run, FileCopyService fileCopyService, DeploymentManager deploymentManager) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestManagement.ControllerProxy.QueueTestRunWorker(Object state)</Exception> Even if I don't link to the DLL (in my VSTS wrapper test, or in the NUnit test), as soon as I add it in my GenericTest file (I'm wrapping NUnit tests), I get that exception. We don't have the source for the problem DLL, and it is also code signed, so I can't solve this by recompiling. Is there a way to skip deploying the dependencies of a DLL DeploymentItem, to fix or disable the culture check, or to work around this by convoluted means (maybe somehow embed the assembly)? Is there a way to override the value for the culture, short of hacking the DLL (and removing code signing so the hack works)? Maybe with an external manifest? Any correct solution must work without weird changes to production code. We can't deploy a hacked DLL, for example. It also must allow the DLL to be instrumented for code coverage. Additional note: I do get a linker warning when compiling the DLL under test that links to the problem DLL, but this hasn't broken anything but VSTS, and multiple versions have shipped.

  • agility of asp.net MVC

    - by Hellnar
Hello I am wondering how agile (fast to develop yet stable) asp.net MVC compared to frameworks using dynamic languages such as Django or Ruby on Rails. I will be happy if you share you experiance in the name of development speed (assuming each language/framework is known at a similar level) Things I love about Django Fast model design thanks to ORM Good template system Not too hard to deploy Easy to extend Lots of free apps to plugin and great documentation Thanks

  • Log files for group policy application deployment

    - by Cyril
I'm looking into using group policy to deploy a couple of applications. I want to have the log of each installation written to a shared folder on a file server for tracking purposes. I can create the log if I pass the appropriate parameters. For example: msiexec /i Package.msi /l*vx c:\Package.log However using group policy for the deployment, you can't pass any parameters to the installation file. Is there anyway to specify the log file location in the process of creating the msi package?

  • Deploying XBAP as an ActiveX

    - by Kaveh Shahbazian
How can I deploy a XBAP to a client machine as an ActiveX (Which I can instantiate and use from JavaScript, passing parameters to it, getting parameters from it, etc)? This is part of an ASP.NET site, and will be in full trusted mode (I have solved that part, actually I have implemented a test XBAP that can edit a text file on local hard drive of a client machine). Thanks

  • Lightweight JMS broker

    - by nixau
Hi, I'm looking for a small and yet efficient enough lightweight JMS broker solution with no or minimum of dependencies. My messaging code should be running in the environment with a lot of dependencies I have no control of. Thus it would make ridiculous to deploy say ActiveMQ solution along with my custom bunch of classes. Thanks for your time.

  • So now that Django 1.2 is officially out...

    - by Fedor
Since I have Django 1.1x on my Debian setup - how can I use virtualenv or similar and not have it mess up my system's default django version which in turn would break all my sites? Detailed instructions or a great tutorial link would very much be appreciated - please don't offer vague advice since I'm still a noob. Currently I store all my django projects in ~/django-sites and I am using Apache2 + mod_wsgi to deploy.
