• Old Sony Digital Tape Handycam, imported Video is sped up?

  Friend gave me their OLD handycam and a bunch of tapes asking me to put them on a DVD. The model is Sony DCR-TVR103 and it records onto Hi8 Digital tapes. It has a firewire port also. I am trying to use import function in iMovie on OS X 10.6. Every import though the video is super fast, like playing in fast forward. Ever seen anything like this? How can I import this video? Thank you.

• Native Mouse events with Flash and Selenium

  I understand that Selenium does not support Flash, but it is my understanding that I should be able to do some simplistic testing of Flash by using Selenium's built in native mouse support and doing mouse up/down events based on coordinates. Is this correct? I can't seem to get it working. I'm trying to test on this page: http://mandy-mania.blogspot.com/2010/04/sneak-peek-of-final-season-of-lost-dvd.html and all I'm trying to do is click on the flash object so it plays the video. I've tried all sorts of commands, MouseOver, MouseDown, MouseDownAt, MouseUp, MouseUpAt, etc. So, I'm wondering if this just theoretically doesn't work or if I'm just doing something wrong. The xpath I'm using is //object[@id='player'], although I've tried a number of different combinations. And yes, I've also tried just the straight click command. Any suggestions? Thanks!

• How Can I Convert A VMware .vmdk File To A .iso File in Windows

  I recently obtained a copy of Mac OS Snow Leopard in VMware (.vmdk) format. It is incredibly slow when running virtualised and I would like to just install it directly to my machine dual booting with Windows 7 (32 bit). Is there any way preferably free that I can convert a VMware .vmdk image to an .iso I can burn to a DVD to boot from? I've seen this done in Linux and presume there is a way to do it in Windows as well. Downloading another copy that isn't a VMware image isn't an option considering my broadband plan is creeping closer to its limit for the month.

  I have an Access database for a media rental company which includes the following tables, among others; LOAN: customer_id (pk), loan_datetimeLeant (pk), loan_dateReturned (pk) LOAN_ITEMS: customer_id (pk), loan_datetimeLeant (pk), item_id (pk), loanItem_cost ITEM: item_id (pk), product_id, item_availability PRODUCT: product_id (pk), product_name, product_type MEDIA_COST: product_type (pk), product_cost So basically the 'product type' (DVD, VHS etc) determines the cost. The 'product id' determines what movie, platform etc each item is. My question is: When creating a form for the Loan_Items table, how can I populate the loanItem_cost field (so it is stored) whenever a new Loan_Item record is added? I need to store it as the cost of the item (product_cost) may change over time and I'd like to record what the customer paid at the time the loan was made. Thanks in advance

  I am using Daemon tool to mount an ISO image on Windows XP machine.I do mount using Daemon command (daemon.exe -mount 0,). Above command will mount ISO image to device number. In my case I have 4 partition (C,D,E,F) and G for DVD/CD-RW. Now what happen, ISO gets mounted to drive letter 'H:' with name (as defined while creating ISO) say 'testmount' My queries:- 1) How can I get mount name of mounted ISO image (i.e. 'testmount'). Just another case; if there are already some mount points existing on machine and I created a new one using Daemon tool. Then If I can get latest one using script that will be great. 2) How to get drive letter where it did get mounted. If anyone know python script or command (or even Win command ) to get these info. do let me know. Thanks...

  I'm running nginx 1.3.5 under windows seven, I need to execute nginx directly from a read-only media (CD or DVD), but when I want to run it, it fails with this error: nginx: [alert] could not open error log file: CreateFile() "logs/error.log" fail ed (5: Access is denied) 2012/08/28 13:52:46 [emerg] 5604#2864: CreateDirectory() "J:\nginx-1.3.5/temp/client_body_temp" failed (5: Access is denied) where J is my CD-ROM drive letter. I've changed nginx.conf to disable logging completely, but seems anyway it still tries to build a file named 'error.log' in '/logs' folder & some extra temporary contents in '/temp' folder at the startup, so I want to change 'logs' & 'temp' directory path to windows temp folder (%temp%), but I dont have any idea that how can I do it. Also I want to know why nginx still creates 'logs/error.log' after disableing error logging ?

• Storing a file in the user's directory in cross-platform Java

  I have a Java application that runs on Mac and Windows, directly off a CD/DVD with no installation. Now, I need to store a file containing per-user data (think favourites etc.) somewhere on the local file system, so that it can be written to. So, where do you think is a good location for this file? I am thinking something like: <USER_DOCUMENTS_AND_SETTINGS>/application data/myapp/favourites.db for windows <USER_HOME_DIR>/.myapp/favourites.db for mac/nix Thoughts? And does anyone know the best way to determine these paths within Java?

  Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id".   Java EJB's EntityManager does not update data from a Consumer. A Consumer logs into a shop, buys some stuff and wants to look at his shopping-history. Everything is displayed but his last purchase. If he logs out and in, it shows. I have used JPA to persist buys/purchases (that are mapped to the Consumer)to DB. It seems like purchases from this session can't be detected. • Accessing entire netflix catalog via API v1.5

  Netflix recently updated their API methods for obtaining the full Netflix catalog. I'm curious if anyone has had any success accessing these new xml documents and downloading them via API v1.5 (9/2012). Previously, you could download the entire Netflix catalog via one API call (which I had working perfectly). Now, there are supposedly two calls to make: one for dvd's and one for streaming movies. I cannot make these calls return anything except for an empty array. Please don't offer an answer unless you have personally downloaded the entire catalog via these new API's.   I've got blocks of text with various specs in them and want to have jquery highlight whatever matches a specific pattern without inserting any extra html. The following is the kind of text that I've got to work with. • Beginning android: how to map a string to a list

  I just finished the NotepadV1-3 tutorial for Android apps, and I was thinking of creating my own inventory app for fun, which for now basically consists of a list of names (such as "DVD" or "Grocery"), each of which can be clicked, which will bring up another specific list associated with that name. However, with the SQLiteDatabase.insert(..) method, the ContentValue can only take (among many others) "String, String" as argument, and I can't figure out how to input into the database a list of Strings associated with a particular key. I'm having trouble researching on how to resolve this as I am not that familiar with SQL. What would be the best way to store a key with its associated list of Strings? Any pointers and suggestions are appreciated! Android newb :[

  I'm looking for resources (preferably books, but websites are fine too) for using FFMPEG and/or SDL with C++. Stuff I'd like to be able to do (eventually): Decode and play videos in realtime to a QT widget (the QT part isn't a problem) Overlay text and images on the video (in realtime) Loop video Cross-fade from one video to another (in realtime) Some kind of DVD functionality LIVE sources? (i.e. webcam, stream, etc.) So far I've looked at (and consider helpful) the following resources: FFMPEG and SDL Tutorial by Dranger (extremely helpful) StackOverflow: ffmpeg C API documentation/tutorial (not a duplicate, btw) Sample code bundled with FFMPEG libraries (I'll try and update this list with anything helpful below) Thanks for any help... • New to VS.net (VB.net) 2008. Windows 7 aero glass stuff.

  Hey all, i have been using VB.net 2008 for a few months and i have a question. I compiled my program and ran it in a VM running windows 7. However, the progress bar looks like it does in XP. It doesn't have that cool look to it like I've seen in many other programs running in windows 7. I have downloaded the 3.5 .net framework with sp1 and also the sdk for windows 7 (1.4+ gb dvd) but i still see nothing. Is there a check-box i am missing in VS 2008 to enable these types of features? Maybe some type of code i need to place in the program? Thanks! David

  On Sunday 6 February 2011, Oracle Linux 6 was released on the Unbreakable Linux Network for customers with an Oracle Linux support subscription. Shortly after that, the Oracle Linux 6 RPMs were made available on our public yum server. Today we published the installation DVD images on edelivery.oracle.com/linux. • Create Custom Sized Thumbnail Images with Simple Image Resizer [Cross-Platform]

  Are you looking for an easy way to create custom sized thumbnail images for use in blog posts, photo albums, and more? Whether is it a single image or a CD full, Simple Image Resizer is the right app to get the job done for you. To add the new PPA for Simple Image Resizer open the Ubuntu Software Center, go to the Edit Menu, and select Software Sources. Access the Other Software Tab in the Software Sources Window and add the first of the PPAs shown below (outlined in red). The second PPA will be automatically added to your system. Once you have the new PPAs set up, go back to the Ubuntu Software Center and click on the PPA listing for Rafael Sachetto on the left (highlighted with red in the image). • How can I troubleshoot flash player/hardware conflict?

  OBJECTIVE: Have a web browser on my Ubuntu install that can play youtube and hulu videos. Also would like to understand problem so that I can fix it again if I change software. Workarounds welcome, technical understanding and solution preferable. SYMPTOMS: Flash does not run - cannot make the right-click menu appear, an empty box is where video should be, changes to black box when hovering over other links. The "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed" message does not appear with its sad lego face. cannot activate proprietary graphics driver - causes system to reboot to a prompt. SOLUTIONS TRIED: Replaced OS (tried slackware 13.37, fedora 17, linuxmint 13 maya, gentoo, lubuntu, and even winXP. lubuntu confirmed to work, don't remember how much tweaking, if any, this required. Slack, fedora, mint, and gentoo all failed to run flash just like ubuntu) many reinstalls of flash player via different methods, including cleaning up old installs first, also tried gnash and lightspark. replaced graphics card (replaced HIS IceQ Radeon HD 4670 AGP with older GeForce 5700 LE no change in problem) flash does successfully work on winXP installation with Catalyst AGP hotfix driver applied, however I consider windows wholly unacceptable for web browsing due to lack of security. Lubuntu install also works, however I do not want to be tied down to just using Lubuntu on this computer. SYSINFO: Have latest versions of Ubuntu, Firefox, and Flash on fresh Ubuntu install. Using Gigabyte 7s748 motherboard with Athlon XP 2800+ and 3 GB of RAM with Radeon HD 4670 AGP card, also a Dell soundblaster live series sound card (due to malfunction of onboard sound on motherboard) Wired internet connection, Maxtor 6Y120L3 HDD, Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A, Dell M993s monitor. NOTES: I do not know if the graphics driver issue and the flash troubles are linked. Substitution of older graphics card having same flash troubles seems to suggest they aren't. My troubleshooting method is rather reductionist, consisting mainly of "replace things until you find out what was causing the error by process of elimination" only it seems that this must be a conflict which arises when software decides how to configure itself on my hardware. That is, I know the hardware can run Flash, and I know that on other systems the same software can too, but somehow the combination fails. Consequently I feel out of my depth. I will keep trying things off and on, but I have spent probably about 30 man-hours in the last 4 months working on this problem with no joy other than the lubuntu workaround. Any help will be appreciated, I will be checking back and posting updates. Any pertinent questions regarding me or my computer will be answered, outputs from config files can be accessed and posted (IDK which ones or what parts to post).

• Graphics card fan is loud (additional graphics card drivers cause problems)

  Okay this explanation is a bit longer ... but I start at the beginning: I've been using Windows 7 for a very long time, shortly after the release of v12.10 I installed Ubuntu via Windows installer. Everything worked fine but the fan of the graphics card. After a bit of research I found out, that I just had to select a different driver (nvidia-current (proprietary, tested) worked pretty well). This also fixed some graphical bugs when I just logged into my account. Due to my university I got a MSDNAA-Account (allows me to download every Windows OS for free). I downloaded and installed Windows 8. After configuration I installed ubuntu via the Windows installer once again and the first couple launches of ubuntu went well. Suddenly ubuntu didn't launched anymore...caused by some hard-disk errors and had no clue what to do. So I kept working on Windows 8 - unfortunately. After playing around with the new Windows, I put my PC to sleep-mode. I couldn't wake my PC up and it wasn't responding to anything (neither mouse-movement, -clicks or keyboard strokes, nor the power-button and the reset-button worked), so I pulled the plug. Turns out, this was a huge mistake. Somehow the BIOS broke and after restarting a couple of times, the BIOS repaired itself. Neither Windows 8, nor ubuntu where bootable. Now I had to install ubuntu several times, because after rebooting unity was hidden and I didn't know what the problem was and how to fix it. I finally realized that this problem was caused by the graphics card driver, which I've changed to the nvidia-current (This dirver worked fine before my PC "crashed"). So I installed Windows 8 again and after a bit of usage I installed ubuntu once again (via DVD). The booting of ubuntu and windows works fine - so far. But I'm still not able to change the graphics card driver without unity hiding away after restarting the OS. The noisy fan is really disturbing my work... • Scan Your Thumb Drive for Viruses from the AutoPlay Dialog

  It’s always a good idea to scan someone’s flash drive for viruses when you use it on your PC. Today we look at how to use Microsoft Security Essentials to scan thumb drives via the AutoPlay dialog. Editor Note: This technique was created by our friend Ramesh Srinivasan from the winhelponline tech blog. If you haven’t done so already, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials (link below), which has earned the How-To Geek official endorsement. Next download the mseautoplay.zip (link below). Unzip the file to view its contents. Then move the msescan.vbs script file into the Windows directory. Next double-click on the mseautoplay.reg file… Click Yes to the warning dialog window asking if you’re sure you want to add to the registry. After it’s added you’ll get a confirmation message…click OK. Now when you pop in a thumb drive, when AutoPlay comes up you will have the options to scan it with MSE first. MSE starts the scan of the thumb drive…   You can use this to scan any removable media. Here is an example of the ability to scan a DVD with MSE before opening any files. You can also go into Control Panel and set it as a default option of AutoPlay. Open Control Panel, View by Large icons, and click on AutoPlay. Notice that now when you go to change the default options for different types of media, Scanning with MSE is now included in the dropdown lists. Remove Settings If you want to remove the MSE AutoPlay Handler, Ramesh was kind enough to create an undo registry file. Double-click on undo.reg from the original MSE AutoPlay folder and click yes to the message to remove the setting.   Then you will need to go into the Windows directory and manually delete the msescan.vbs script file. This is an awesome trick which will allow you to scan your thumb drives and other removable media from the AutoPlay dialog. We tested it out on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and it works perfectly on each one. • grub problem after grub-repair

  I had two OS,win 7 and Ubuntu, I was working with win and went out of the room and when came back I saw Grub Rescue!!!
