• can't add sharepoint users from trusted domain

  I have a very strange problem with our Sharepoint 2007 implementation. I went in today to grant access to a user and was greeted with "The user does not exist or is not unique." Let me start off by saying that this user is not on our domain we have a 2 way trust connecting to one of our subsidiaries. I can see the users in the people pick but can't add them into Sharepoint. This problem flared up after we had some trust issues last two days ago. So I must ask has anyone came across this error and if so what steps did you take to resolve it? • How do you splice out a part of an xvid encoded avi file, with ffmpeg? (no problems with other files

  Im using the following command, which works for most files, except what seems to be xvid encoded ones /usr/bin/ffmpeg -sameq -i file.avi -ss 00:01:00 -t 00:00:30 -ac 2 -r 25 -copyts output.avi So this should basically splice out 30 seconds of video + audio, starting from 1 minute mark. It does START encoding at the 00:01:00 mark but it goes all the way to the end of the file for some reason, ignoring that I want just 30 seconds. The output looks like this.   After searching for hours to solve my problem and found nothing helpful I ask my first question here. I want to compile and install php 5.3.17 cli with pcntl extension enabled on a Debian server. Only problem is these users have full power and I am not sure how to restrict their access.

  I'd like to use custom icons to better distinguish machines running the same OS from each other, in VirtualBox. is this possible? If so, what file(s) do I need to add/edit? Examples: I've got two Windows 7 VMs. One I use as a sandbox for testing various things, and the other I use for when I need to connect to work (ideally, my personal system - the host machine - never directly connects). I'd like to have perhaps a beaker for the sandbox, and a suitcase for the work machine. I've got two Ubuntu VMs. One is BackTrack Linux, the other is a build I'm using to learn more about the OS. I wouldn't mind keeping the regular icon for the latter, but I'd like to use one of BackTrack's icons or images for the former. I'm running VirtualBox 4.1.6 on Windows 7 x64.

  I've got a home network set up with a couple of Windows XP computers. I'm now trying to add our new netbook to it - also running XP. (The goal is to share files and a printer.) I have run the Network Setup Wizard and made sure that the workgroup name is the same as the others, and have rebooted several times, but whenever I try to 'view workgroup computers,' the only one on it is the netbook. I have a Windows XP CD, but the netbook has no drive. The wizard has some options for floppy disks, but that's useless to me these days. What is this wizard actually trying to do, and can I do it manually? Surely it can't be this hard.

All servers have static IP's All servers are in the same domain (SOFTWARE) RDP is enabled for all 3 servers All servers are Windwos Server 2008 R2 I can connect to the DHCP/RRAS server via RDP I cannot connect to DC and File server When I add RPD users (both are domain admin for testing) to the File server they show up like this: What is happening what I don't see? And additional why don't I even get a login screen for RPD? Thanks in advance.

• How do I disable the "enable/disable wireless" shortcut key on my laptop?

  On my Dell Studio XPS 16, I sometimes accidentally hit this key. Wireless becomes disabled, and hitting it again does not re-enable wireless. I have to hit it an odd number of times, then restart my computer to re-enable wireless. I can't imagine a situation in which I would want to disable wireless from my keyboard. Is it possible just disable the key all-together, so I can avoid this problem? On a related note, what package do I file the bug against? I'm happy just disabling the key, but that's really just a workaround.

  When I open a GIF file in gimp, I find it very hard to add more colours then those that are already contained in GIF palette. When I draw with different colours, GIMP is trying to use the colour from palette most approximate to the colour I'm drawing. (may result in red instead of black) This problem persist even if I save the imported GIF as XCF file (even if I create new layers in it). How do I make gimp ignore the palette?   I have a Proliant DL380 G6 that I am re-purposing as a Hyper-V host for a new, off-site data center that will host our DR services. The server currently has a P410i controller with the 512MB BBWC module. The drives installed are SFF 6G 10K drives. I plan to add the HP 516914-B21 drive cage, which gives me 8 more SFF drives, bringing the total to 16. To get the additional 8 drives connected, I have one of three choices: Install a new controller that can support 16 drives. Install a second controller. Install a SAS expander, such as the HP 468406-B21 recommended by HP's spec sheet for my server. My question is: how do I know if I'm going hit a performance ceiling by putting 16 drives on the P410i or using the expander? And if I am, how do I select an appropriate controller? I'm not sure what specifications I should be looking at.

  I have a test environment for a remote desktop farm with a connection broker load balancing logins across remote desktop session host servers. All servers are built on Server 2012 R2. Using rd web access, we can access this farm from anywhere. When logging in via web access, you can choose the screen resolution or use full screen. If you have two monitors when selecting full screen, it will always use both your monitors. Does anyone know how to adjust the RDWeb page so that you can choose whether or not to use both your monitors? This option is in the GUI from RDP 6.1 onwards, so I would imagine there is a way to also add it the web access page.

• Can't add Samba users in Ubuntu

  I am using (K)Ubuntu 10.10, and I'm trying to set up Samba shares. When I try to add a Samba user in the KDE samba configuration, exit the configuration dialog, then enter it again, I see that the user is not added. Then I tried it using the command line (running as root): smbpasswd -a peet 'peet' is my normal user name. It asks for a password, then does something on my hard drive, but I can see no password file created in /etc/samba, and neither does the date of my smb.conf file change. I also don't see the samba user when I open the samba configuration dialog.

• Problem with missing JSON functions on PHP 5.2.6 / Plesk 8.4

  I have a vserver running openSuse 10.3, Apache 2 and Plesk 8.4. I can update/upgrade neither, as it is apparently not recommended to upgrade openSuse 10.3 (and an update to the EOL 10.4 does not seem to make much sense) and Plesk fails to update no matter what version I try (even fails to upgrade to 8.4.1). Still I can live with that somehow, primarily because I don’t have the time to do a fresh remote install on the vserver. What really is a problem is, that though the installed PHP is 5.2.6 it has no zip library and no json functions. The first is probably because PHP was not compiled with --enable-zip. The second is a big mystery though. As I understand it, it always comes with PHP unless its compiled with the --disable-json configure option. This is however not the case. And the json extension module is just not there. I even tried to enable it with extension=json.so with no luck either. the configure options of my PHP are (as shipped with Plesk 8.4) '../configure' '--prefix=/usr' '--datadir=/usr/share/php5' '--mandir=/usr/share/man' '--bindir=/usr/bin' '--with-libdir=lib' '--includedir=/usr/include' '--sysconfdir=/etc/php5/apache2' '--with-config-file-path=/etc/php5/apache2' '--with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php5/conf.d' '--enable-libxml' '--enable-session' '--with-mm' '--with-pcre-regex=/usr' '--enable-xml' '--enable-simplexml' '--enable-spl' '--enable-filter' '--disable-debug' '--enable-inline-optimization' '--disable-rpath' '--disable-static' '--enable-shared' '--program-suffix=5' '--with-pic' '--with-gnu-ld' '--with-system-tzdata=/usr/share/zoneinfo' '--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs2' '--disable-all' '--disable-cli' As I understand it, PECL is not an option with 5.2.6. Or am I mistaken? Even if I was not, the openSuse repository only goes as far as PHP 5.2.4. The openSuse install even came without zypper, which I had to manually install. So is there a way to get ziplib and json running in PHP 5.2.6 without having to recompile the binary?

  I don't know much about Networking, So excuse me if I am raising some basic issues. I have a LAN where there is a Windows Server 2008R2 with some clients connected to it. The clients are not joined to the domain of the Server (they are in a WORKGROUP). I have set up a VPS on the server machine (PPTP) with a Static address pool of range 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.10 but the LAN range itself is 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254. When I connect to the server from another location over the internet, I can just see the server and I can not see the other clients which are in the same LAN as the server. what to do to see the other clients? a friend of mine said that you should use the ADD ROUTE command. Beacuse of that I used this command as my title. What would be the best way to address this problem? Thanks

Now I want to 301 all URLs without trailing slash to their counterpart that includes a trailing slash. For example: /contacts to /contacts/. I've tried virtually all the nginx directives on this I could find, but to no avail. For example, the directive specified in nginx- Rewrite URL with Trailing Slash leads to a redirect to /index.php/. Which directive should I add and where?

• Add "secure" in cookie by httpd server

  How do I have to configure my httpd server to add "Secure" in the cookies? I tried the one in the below link, http://blog.modsecurity.org/2008/12/fixing-both-missing-httponly-and-secure-cookie-flags.html but this did not seem to be working. I inspected the cookie via firebug and found that the cookies have "HttpOnly" but not "Secure". I double checked the configurations and they the same as mentioned in the link. I also noticed that the server response time goes bit high when doing it by mod_security. Is there a better way to do it? Any ideas or pointers to configurations would be helpful

• Hibernation is still missing from menu in 13.10 after enabling via polkit. How to enable?

  I know that since 12.04, we need to add a policykit rule to enable hibernation (see question How to enable hibernation? and the Official Documentation). I can successfully bring my laptop into hibernation mode with sudo pm-hibernate or sudo s2disk, so the rule is in place and works, but the hibernation entry is still missing in the menu. I can tell from looking through the source of the indicator-session package (but not understanding the whole code) that there is still a hibernation menu entry in the code and it should be displayed when the system is capable of hibernating. Please calm down if you're enraged by this. This is very unlikely to be a conspiracy, but rather a bug/regression on a deeper level, which can happen when you move code around or replace it. Question: What needs to be done in 13.10 to properly tell indicator-session that the system can hibernate? Possible duplicate: Hibernation still not available - No activity, because saucy was in development at that time, so out of scope for AskUbuntu. • How to specify or add directory to Python.h search path during setup.py build/install

  I'm running Linux, and have downloaded a python module I must install without access to any but my particular /home/user directory (I have no root privileges nor the option to pursue them). This of course requires the Python source. This I've downloaded and have laying around in said user directory. While asking the admin to copy the proper files into /usr/include/python2.7 is the easiest way to go about this, I am hoping for a more general and portable solution to this kind of problem. Changing only data in the module source (MANIFEST.in, README.txt, setup.py, etc.), how might I add an arbitrary directory to the search path for Python.h and friends? (Without a solution, "python setup.py build" will continue returning with the "Python.h: No such file or directory" error) Thank you very much.   I have just installed SBS 2008 R2 Standard on VMware Workstation 9 along with Windows 7 Pro N. Both are activated and running fine. I have followed the steps to configure SBS 2008 and am now at the point where I'm to add a computer to the domain. Here is where the problem begins. I have gone through the steps of using the webinterface. On the client I downloaded Launcher.exe. I then run it and get the error "Check computer requirements - Failed" (translated from swedish): "This computer doesn't reach the requirements for connecting to the network." "The computer doesn't reach the maximum requirements for the operating system with regards to connect to the network" The provided link for More information only leads to a general supportpage and doesn't handle this specific error. I have also checked the time settings and they are correct. Any clue as to what this problem could be?

  Windows 8.1 claims to search in all indexed locations. However when I tried to open "Mail" (i.e. Mlcfg32.cpl) by typing "Mail" in Search, magic didn't happen. Instead I had to scramble all the way through Control Panel. Is it possible to add Control Panel items to those indexed locations? Or is it just the thing Microsoft forgot about? (e.g. forgot on intention, so users would make use of their new "Settings" applet).

• Terminal Server Install -- Add/Remove Program Message on NonAdministrator Machines

  First time poster... My company uses terminal services for one of our remote offices. Data is kept on a different server. OS is Windows Server 2003. Last week, they needed to purchase a program and have it installed on terminal server, which was done. An administrator session was started, the TS was put into install mode and the program was installed. The TS was then put back into execute mode. The install did not require a reboot. Since then, when any user who does not have administrator privileges initiates a remote session and logs in they get a security message that says "Add / Remove programs has been restricted. Please contact your system administrator." The only option is to click OK, which everyone does and after that there are no issues. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to fix? Thanks!

  Based on a multitude of questions related to temporarily disabling ReSharper, and also on certain research data, I can see that a considerable share of ReSharper users have it disabled most of the time. They tend to enable it for a limited period of time (say, several hours), do whatever they need to do using its functionality, and disable it back until the next time they feel they need to use it. If you're using ReSharper (or other similar VS extensions, to that matter) in such occasional manner, can you clarify why you're doing this? Is your behavior based on performance, or other considerations? What kinds of tasks do you enable ReSharper for in this scenario?
