How to gray out HTML form inputs?

What is the best way to gray out text inputs on an HTML form? I need the inputs to be grayed out when a user checks a check box. Do I have to use JavaScript for this (not very familiar with JScript) or can I use PHP (which I am more familiar with)? EDIT: After some reading I have got a little bit of code, but it is giving me problems. For some reason I cannot get my script to work based on the state of the form input (enabled or disabled) or the state of my checkbox (checked or unchecked), but my script works fine when I base it on the values of the form inputs. I have written my code exactly like several examples online (mainly this one) but to no avail. None of the stuff that is commented out will work. "Emulating" Application.Run using Application.DoEvents

I'm getting in trouble. I'm trying to emulate the call Application.Run using Application.DoEvents... this sounds bad, and then I accept also alternative solutions to my question... I have to handle a message pump like Application.Run does, but I need to execute code before and after the message handling. Pratically I have a list of Kernel classes, which runs in separate threads, these threads handle a Form for rendering in OpenGL. I need to synchronize all the Kernel threads using a barrier, and this work perfectly. Of course, I need to handle Form messages in the main thread (Main routine), for every Form created, and indeed I call Application.DoEvents() to do the job. Now I have to modify the snippet above to have a common Form (simple dialog box) without consuming the 100% of CPU calling Application.DoEvents(), as Application.Run does. The goal should be to have the snippet above handle messages when arrives, and issue a rendering (releasing the barrier) only when necessary, without trying to get the maximum FPS; there should be the possibility to switch to a strict loop to render as much as possible. How could it be possible? Note: the snippet above must be executed in the Main routine, since the OpenGL context is created on the main thread. Moving the snippet in a separated thread and calling Application.Run is quite unstable and buggy...

Twitter Bootstrap modal spans, side-by-side divs and "control-group"?

I'm trying my best to have a good looking modal login form but for some reasons it seems that no matter how I nest divs, I cannot obtain the proper shape. What I need is a big "lock" image side-by-side with a username/password form. The best I could do adds a horizontal scroller by the modal bottom and shows the input gadgets fairly distant from the image partly hidden on the right side of the modal canvas. Inspecting with FireBug it seems that the spans in row-fluid are ok but the "control-label" and "controls" class adds way too much space on the left by width (for the labels) and margin-left (for the controls). How would you solve it? Am I doing something wrong with divs and classes nesting? I have a classroom application,and a follow relation. Users can follow each other and can create classrooms.When a user creates a classroom, he can invite only the people that are following him. Click event on submit buttons only fires once

I subscribe to the click event on all submit buttons on my page once loaded. All buttons fire off the correct event when clicked, but this only works once. If you click any two buttons in a row the second button submits the form normally as opposed to running the script. What am I doing wrong?. Filtering out page content with AJAX in Sitecore

Clients list should be refreshed via AJAX everytime user changes one of the values in the form or after clicking Submit button if JS is disabled. What is the suggested approach I should take to have this working in Sitecore? I'm not sure about Sitecore part, I know how to call AJAX methods/

It's possible to don't pass in GET some fields of a form?

I have a form with some input texts passed in GET, and i don't want to have in GET all the fields; i want to avoid empty fields. This is my first time posting - I greatly appreciate any and all guidance on this subject. Background: I am building a Real Estate web site. I would like to use the free IDX data provided by my local MLS board. The MLS board does not allow me the option of displaying a predefined search and only provides me with a link to the search field. after filling out the search field, I am able to view the results. Goal: I would like to bypass this step and frame the results page into a GoDaddy website I am building, which supports HTML. Managing/Storing complex application form

I am developing an online application form, which can be of two categories, either domestic/international. Each different type has commong questions, and also specific questions. They are approx 6 pages/steps of questions. The application form can also be saved at the end of each step, and can be completed at a later date. Some questions will vary depending on answers to previous questions, so there are some complex business rules. In terms of storage of results, would it be best to store the answers in and XML field in SQL? What would be the best way to reference a question to an answer. Does posting data with a textarea automatically add slashes to (escape) the text?

Ok, so I'm having a problem with a simple textarea. I'm using a kind of hidden page to easily encode some data using JSON. However, all of my text input is automatically being escaped somewhere and I don't know where. All of my $_POST variables are automatically run through the htmlentities() function when the script starts up, as seen below: $ani->i->post = $this->clean($_POST, true); function clean($values, $unset = false) { if (is_array($values)) { foreach ($values as $key => $value) { $newkey = strtolower($key); $return[$newkey] = $this->clean($value); unset($values[$key]); } return $return; } return htmlentities($values); } I keep getting \' for all of my single quotes when I put the value back into the textarea. I can't find anywhere where it would be adding slashes and I don't remember it being a feature that they were automatically added when you submit from a textarea, and if that was so, why would they not be returning back to a single quote when put back into the textarea? Do I really need to run variables through stripslashes() to get them back to their original form? Due to a bug in Flash, I have to use the ASPXAuth cookie to log a user in on a page that a flash upload script calls after upload. My question is, how secure is this? I understand that anyone that can get to the string in the HTML can probably get to it from the cookie just as easily, but let's say someone does have this ASPXAUTH string. Is it possible that they can login as another user using this cookie? Would they be able to decrypt it? Bara

Is there a more efficient way to set variables on a RadioButton's CheckChanged event?

I have 16 radio buttons in an application of mine.. I have to set a variable based on which one was selected.. and I've produced some very ugly code doing this.. private void Foo_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { convertSource = 1; } private void Bar_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { convertSource = 2; } private void Baz_RadioButton_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { convertSource = 3; } Now, I've been thinking about it and to be honest I thought there might have been a way to do it with a switch.. I just can't conceptualize it in my mind. If anyone could show me a more efficient way of doing this, I'd really appreciate it. It's just really bugging me that such a simple thing as this is taking up fifty to seventy lines of code. thanks, cpatton

I tried both class Pet < ActiveRecord::Base ... alias_attribute :klass, :type end and class Pet < ActiveRecord::Base ... def klass self.type end def klass=(k) self.type = k end end Neither worked. Any suggestions? Oddly, it works fine on my machine (MRI 1.8.6 on RVM), but fails on the staging server (MRI 1.8.7 not on RVM).

Best way to create preview functionality in Rails

Hi all, I'm looking to implement preview functionality in my posts scaffold. All I need to do is allow a user to enter information in the new view (/posts/new) and then replace the submit button with a preview button. Once the preview button is clicked, the user is routed to the preview page (probably /posts/new/preview). If the user wants to make a change they would click 'go back' or if they are happy with the post they can then submit the post. I found this article (http://eyedeal.team88.org/node/105) but it seems dated. Any ideas on what the best approach for this would be? Many thanks, Tony

Building a rails form to filter an index page?

G'day guys, I'm having an issue with filtering the presentation of several thousand trade items I have in my system. As per the specs of the system we're building we have to have a form that allows people to put in a start date and then an interval in minutes, to filter the presentation of the items. I've built my helper functions to return all of the trades within that interval period, but I can't for the life of me properly build the form that will return a dateTime value and an integer value within the top of the index page? Any ideas? Would I have to build a separate model object to assign values to, or is there a simpler way?

Folks, I am starting work on an iPad/iPhone application that is essentially a form-filing UI. The requirement is to present a (rather large) form to the user. The form is composed of sections and questions, like so: Form Question 0.1 Question 0.2 Section 1 Question 1.1 etc. The user can take various paths down the form based on answers to questions. I would like to architect this by defining a declarative markup that can be used to author the form questionnaire including traversal rules. My questions are: Can anyone recommend a markup/language that would satisfy the declaration requirement? Is there any existing library that would ease the implementation as described above? MS Access 2003 - Save button enabling on form open on different tabs

I have a tab control on a form, and a couple different tabs have save buttons on them. I am trying to create multiple items (each with a name value and a content value) in a single form. The code I have is functioning, but I cannot figure out how to ignore items that are blank. use jquery to toggle disabled state with a radio button

I want to toggle two radio buttons and select fields based on which radio button is selected. I have the jQuery working, but want to know if there is a way to make it more efficient. Seems like quite a few lines for the simple goal I am trying to achieve. Here are the requirements: when the page loads, #aircraftType should be checked and #aircraftModelSelect should be grayed out (right now, the "checked" is being ignored by Firefox). If the user clicks either #aircraftType or #aircraftModel, the opposite select field should become disabled (if #aircraftModel is checked, #aircraftTypeSelect should be disabled, and vise versa). Any help on optimizing this code is appreciated. How do I get a jQuery dialog window to display only if a form validates when I click the submit butt

I've got a form that is using jQuery validation. When the user clicks the submit button, a dialog window displays thatshows the fields the user filled out along with the data the user entered. It asks the user if this information is correct. If it is, the user clicks the submit button in the dialog window and the form is submitted. If the user clicks the 'Fix it' button, the dialog window closes and the user returns to the form. My problem is my dialog window displays when the user clicks the form's submit button even if there are errors in the form. I only want to display the dialog window if the form data is validated by jQuery. How do I do this? I'm thinking of something like: if ((#form).validates() == true) { $('#verification_dialog').dialog('open'); } Is there a way in jQuery to determine whether the whole form has validated? Or do I have to create my own function to do this?

CSS Padding Issue w/ submit button

This is a dumb problem but I can't seem to set the padding on a submit button properly. No matter what I input for padding, the width and height of the button never changes. Deselecting a form input and waiting for a function before submitting

I have a form with an input field where a user enters a unique identifier. I then have some jQuery code that upon the user moving away from the input field (blur) goes out and fetches details about the part and populates some fields on the page. The problem is if the user clicks the submit button before moving out of the input field the jQuery code never has a chance to load in the data and populate the necessary fields. Whats the best way to go about doing this? I thought about maybe setting the focus to body and then having an infinite loop that keeps checking the page until all fields that should be filled in have been filled in but I feel like some sort of event based solution would be better than unpredictable infinite loops. Any ideas?
