  • poll(2) doesn't empty the event queue

    Hi, Im using linux as my programming platform. I am using poll(2) to know if my device is triggering an event. The first call of poll is ok, it blocks and wait for the event to happen. But in the second poll function call, it will return but it capture the event. Below are my code ret = poll( fds, 1, 2000); //2 secs timeout if( fds[0].revents & POLLIN && ret > 0) { printf("event occur\n"); } It seems the queue/buffer is not empty, im just assuming. What do you think is the problem? Thanks.

    I have a template system, that replaces text such as {HEADER} with the appropriate content. I use an array like this, that replaces the key with the value using str_replace. $array = array("HEADER","This is the header"); foreach($array as $var => $content) { $template = str_replace("{" . strtoupper($var). "}", $content,$template); } Now im trying to use a defined variable like this: define("NAME","Site Name"); Inside the value for the header. So I want the defined variable to be inside the array which gets replaced so it would look like this, but it doesn't work. $array = array("HEADER","Welcome to ".NAME."'s website!"); Any ideas? tell me if im not clear

  • Rename Files in Python

    Hi all, Im trying to rename some files in a directory using python. I've looked around the forums here, and because i'm a noob, I cant adapt what I need from what is out there. Say I have a file called CHEESE_CHEESE_TYPE.*** and want to remove "Cheese_" so my resulting filename would be "CHEESE_TYPE" Im trying to use the os.path.split but it's not working properly. I have also considered using string manipulations, but have not been successful with that either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • is it a bad idea to load into memory 160000 variables in a php script?

    im processing a large file with sentences, i only care about the lines that have english or japanese, so while im reading the file, if i find english or japanese sentence, i want to just save it in an array and after finished reading, open another file for writting and output all the sentences in the array. this would result in me setting about 160,000 variables. all strings, some short some long. just wondering if its a bad idea to for memeory to set so many values? example line from the file: "1978033 jpn ?????????????????????"

  • Apache outputs all urls of a second domain as a subfolder of the primary domain name

    Hi all, would anyone be able to possibly give me some guidance.. Basically, i have a 'shared hosting' account with a large internet hosting provider, and my account lets me have multiple seperate domains within this folder structure.(note: not aliased domains and not sub domains). so, my goal is to have 2 domains set up. i have already purchased the two domain names i need: The first domain is the 'primary' domain name for the root folder(eg. www.example1.com) and the second domain name is set for one of its sub folders(eg. www.example2.com is set to the folder www.example1.com/sites/music). The problem is that when apache returns a page of the second domain back to the browser, apache writes the hyperlinks as if it's a sub folder of the first domain ( eg. www.example2.com/index.html. comes out as http://www.example1.com/sites/music/index.html). Now, I have done some reading on this, looking though "Apache: the definitive guide"(o'reilly), and although it was useful, couldn't really find the answer. i'm guessing this issue is most likely an apache setup issue in http.conf, rather than an issue with the hosting company itself (which is why im posting it here) and I have also been to the official documentation for apache site, and i am guessing i might need to use something like the rewritebase directive in htaccess files.. but im really not sure, im more of a java programmer guy, and have been struggling with this for a couple of days. Any guidance would be REALLY appreciated. If it helps, my hosting company is godaddy, and my sites are hosted on linux. My problem was originally with wordpress which i reinstalled a number of times in various ways to correct the problem, but ive just done a test with a very simple static html, and it still has the same issue with relative urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> However, it is fine if i hardcode the urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="http://www.example2.com/images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> Thanks heaps, Steve R NOW FIXED Ok, the problem has now been fixed, and i didn't need to modify any .conf or .htaccess files. The problem was, that when I went to install the second application into a second domain from the godaddy site, one of the setup questions is that it asks you which site you want it installed to. after that it asks for the desired folder path. However, the problem was that the second domain name was already pointing to the correct subfolder of the primary domain. So when I started installing wordpress again and came to the menu to select which site it was for, and it listed only the primary domain as an option, i assumed that this was like a label of "which hosting account?", or "which primary domain will your application will be installed under?" because I already knew that in the next step i was specifiying the folder. In order to correct this, you must make sure that your second domain is added to your domain list so that it will be listed as an option during the installation process.   • why did preview stop working from firefox?

    I just installed adobe reader, and now when I click on a PDF in the browser, it is not opened in preview. Adobe doesn't work either, and I am stuck without having the PDF viewed at all. I right clicked on a PDF, and preview is still my default viewer. So this: http://www.ehow.com/how_6764524_make-preview-default-pdf-viewer.html is not helping. Any ideas? I want to be able to use Preview in Firefox.

    Ok, so I have 192.168.x.14 with port 80 open and I have set the netgear router to point there then I have 192.168.x.12 with apache running but when I try to connect using chrome to the website hosted on .12 it cant find it, how do I set up .14 to also check .12 /nagios is running on .12 while /munin is running on .14 Thank you for helping I know about Squid, but I don't know what to do? Do I use that or something else.

    This is something I setup recently and was quite a big pain. My environment was getting squid to authenticate a Windows 7 client against a Windows 2008 Server invisibly. NTLM is not really an option, as using it requires a registry change on each client. MS have been recommending Kerberos since Windows 2000, so it's finally time to get with the program. Many, many thanks to Markus Moeller of the Squid mailing lists for helping to get this working.

    I've set up cron to run a simple hello world shell script, but it's giving me an error that Google isn't helping me resolve. I've got to be missing something really simple!   • How do I connect to my InterBase db on a Windows Server from Delphi XE?

    I have installed InterBase on a Windows Server 2008, added a database through IBConsole and I'm trying to set up a connection to it from Delphi XE. I've clicked on the DataExplorer tab and right clicked "INTERBASE/Add New Connection". This is where I am having trouble setting it up correctly. Anyone know this stuff? I'm waaaay out of my comfort zone here but I'm helping some people out and I'm trying to get this to work myself so that I hopefully can fix the problems they are having.
