• MySQL UpdateXML with automatic node inserting?

  I am writing an application that supports custom fields. Currently I store all custom fields in a XML formated text field ( e.g. '<root><field1>val1</field1><field2>val2</field2></root>' in cust_field) I am able to to use updateXML(cust_field, '/root/field1', '<field1>new value</field1') to update those values, however if I use updateXML(cust_field, '/root/field3', '<field3>new value</field3>') then it does not work since field3 is not in the old value. Is there a way to let MySQL automatically insert the new field3 node and its value into cust_field? I am thinking about stored procedure or even stored function but not familiar with both, can anyone point me to the right direction?

  My question is rather complicated for me to explain, as i'm not really good at maths, but i'll try to be as clear as possible. I'm trying to code a cluster in python, which will generate words given a charset (i.e. with lowercase: aaaa, aaab, aaac, ..., zzzz) and make various operations on them. I'm searching how to calculate, given the charset and the number of nodes, what range each node should work on (i.e.: node1: aaaa-azzz, node2: baaa-czzz, node3: daaa-ezzz, ...). Is it possible to make an algorithm that could compute this, and if it is, how could i implement this in python? I really don't know how to do that, so any help would be much appreciated

• Download File from Web C++ (with winsock?)

  I need to download files/read strings from a specified url in C++. I've done some research with this, cURL seems to be the most popular method. Also, I've used it before in PHP. The problem with cURL is that the lib is huge, and my file has to be small. I think you can do it with winsock, but I can't find any simple examples. If you have a simple winsock example, a light cURL/Something else, or anything that could get the job done. I would greatly appreciated. Also, I need this to work with native C++.

• Add 64 bit offset to a pointer

  In F#, there's the NativePtr module, but it seems to only support 32 bit offsets for its’ add/get/set functions, just like System.IntPtr does. Is there a way to add a 64 bit offset to a native pointer (nativeptr<'a) in F#? Of course I could convert all addresses to 64 bit integers, do normal integer operations and then convert the result again to nativeptr<'a, but this would cost additional add and imul instructions. I really want the AGUs to perform the address calculations. For instance, using unsafe in C# you could do something like void* ptr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(...).ToPointer(); int64 offset = ...; T* newAddr = (T*)ptr + offset; // T has to be an unmanaged type Well actually you can't, because there is no "unmanaged" constraint for type parameters, but at least you can do general pointer arithmetic in a non-generic way. In F# we finally got the unmanaged constraint; but how do I do the pointer arithmetic?

I found some entries here on stackoverflow, but the questions seemed to either be for older versions or the solutions did not work for me. • Cloud 9 and Grunt.js

  I'm running grunt.js on Cloud9. Most everything is working correctly, except when I try to set this option: 'watch: { options: {livereload:true},' If I add that, the terminal states: 'Fatal error: listen EACCES' I'm guessing I need to use the sudo command to run that and since c9 doesn't let you run sudo, the command fails. But why is livereload a feature that requires permission? And is there any way around it?

Is there a way for a single object to inherit the attributes of both models? And how would it work with the key :_type?

• Trouble using ‘this.files’ in GruntJS Tasks

  Background: So I’m new to writing grunt tasks, so hopefully this isn’t a stupid question. Purpose of my grunt task: Given a file (html / jsp / php / etc) search all the link / script tags, compare the href / src to a key, and replace with the contents of the file. Proposed task configuration: myTask:{ index:{ files:{src:"test/testcode/index.html", dest:"test/testcode/index.html"}, css:[ { file: "/css/some/css/file.css", fileToReplace:"/target/css/file.css" }, { file: "/css/some/css/file2.css", fileToReplace:"/target/css/file2.css" } ], js:[ { file: "/css/some/css/file.css", fileToReplace:”/target/css/file.css" }, { file: "/css/some/css/file2.css", fileToReplace:"/target/css/file2.css" } ] } } Problem: Now, per my understanding, when dealing with files, you should reference the ‘this.files’ object because it handles a bunch of nice things for you, correct? Using intelliJ and the debugger, I see the following when i watch the ‘this.files’ object: http://i.imgur.com/Gj6iANo.png What I would expect to see is src and dest to be the same, not dest ===‘src’ and src === undefined. So, What is it that I am missing? Is there some documentation on ‘this.files’ I can read about? I’ve tried setting the files attribute in the target to a number of other formats per grunts spec, none seem to work (for this script, ideally the src / dest would be the same, so the user would just have to enter it once, but i’m not even getting in to that right now.) PyMongo MongoEngine Ming If you were designing a new content-heavy website using the django framework, what API would you choose and why? MongoEngine looks like it was built specifically with Django in mind. PyMongo appears to be a thin wrapper around Mongo. It has a lot of power, though loses a lot of the abstractions gained through using django as a framework. Ming represents an interesting middle ground between PyMongo and MongoEngine, though I haven't had the opportunity to take it for a test drive.

With ActiveRecord, I'd use fields_for but when asked if this would be supported a few months ago, MongoMapper author John Nunemaker wrote: "Nope and nope. It is really [not] that hard with attr_accessor's." OK, fair enough, but how do you write the form for this to work? I'm not interested in using the nested form implementations that are out there because I want to do this the "normal" way as I'm learning about MongoMapper. My model is simple enough - I've got a Person with embedded documents for email addresses, phone numbers, etc. I do not care about updating existing embedded documents. They can be re-created from the form input each time a Person is edited.

I thought that changing the #name property from 'op' to 'searchwiki' would prevent this kind of mix-up, but not so. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

I try to use te ´rails generate mongoid:config´ command but it just generates a new app. And also, i would like to use has_many in mongoid without embeding the associated model in the same field. I would like them to be in seperate fields and associated through a *_id "column". Is that possible? Thank you, Micke.

• MongoMapper, Rails, Increment Works in Console but not Controller

  I'm using mongo_mapper 0.7.5 and rails 2.3.8, and I have an instance method that works in my console, but not in the controller of my actual app. I have no idea why this is. #controller if @friendship.save user1.add_friend(user2) ... #model ... key :friends_count, Integer, :default => 0 key :followers_count, Integer, :default => 0 def add_friend(user) ... self.increment(:friends_count => 1) user.increment(:followers_count => 1) true end And this works in the console, but in the controller it does not change the follower count, only the friends count. What gives? The only thing I can even think of is that the way that I'm passing the user in is the problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

What encoding should I use?

• CSS set width to parentNode's width

  Is there a way in CSS to set the width of any element to equal the width of its parentNode? I tried 'inherit' - sounds logic - but it didn't work. Thanks in advance.
