  • Outlook 2003: How to print embedded images in e-mails?

    My boss has been trying to print his e-mails with embedded images, but the images don't print. All we get is a placeholder space where the image should be. Ideally, we'd like to have an option to control whether images get printed or not. I Googled this already and the one solution I found, trying to print the e-mail from the separate window using the print icon, did not work. Edit: also tried the solution here without success. I had him forward a sample e-mail to me, and I printed it fine in my Outlook (same version).

    Exchange 2010, one-server installation (small production, I know not best practice) OWA Connectivity has been confirmed, Autodiscover is configured and working properly for EVERY other installation. Other user accounts tested on problem Outlook, none can connect. Windows Firewall is pre-configured by Group Policy, only modifications being related to remote management. Firewall has also been disabled during diagnostic period. Network discovery and file sharing is enabled on workstation as well. Windows 7 Professional, latest updates installed. Driving me nuts. Help, serverfault?

  • Windows explorer locks files

    I'm using Office 2010 & Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My problem starts when I attempt to save e-mail messages to my PC that I have received via Outlook (my ISP is Comcast). I'm using the default .msg file extension option when I attempt to save these e-mails. The resultant files are locked and do not show the normal "envelope" icon. Instead, it’s a “blank page” icon with the right upper corner folded in. These files refuse to open either by double clicking on them or right clicking and trying to open them with Outlook. And when I return to Outlook, I discover that Outlook is now hung up and I have to close it via the Task Manager. To make matters worse, I’ve also discovered that every e-mail message that I've saved on my PC over the years has also somehow become locked and their original "envelope" icon has been replaced with the "blank page" icon. I found and installed an application called LockHunter. As a result, when I right click on a saved and locked e-mail message, I’ve given an option to find out what's locking it. Each time I'm told that the culprit is Windows explorer.exe. When I unlock the file the normal envelope icon is sometimes displayed (but not always) but at least the file can then be opened. But the file is still “squirrely” as it can’t be moved or saved to a folder until it’s unlocked again. On this second attempt, LockHunter says it’s now locked by Outlook.exe. By the way, I don't have this issue when I save Word, Excel & PowerPoint files; only with Outlook. I've exhausted every remedy that I can think of including: making sure that the file and folder options are checked to always show icons and not thumbnails; running the Windows 7 & Office 2010 repair options which find nothing amiss; running a complete system scan with Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool with negative results; verifying that Outlook is the default for opening e-mails; updating all of my applications via Secunia Personal Software Inspector; uninstalling every application that I felt was unnecessary; doing a registry cleanup via CC Cleaner; having Windows Security Essentials always on (it did find one Java Trojan recently which was quarantined and then deleted); uninstalling a bunch of non-Microsoft shell extensions; and deactivating all of the Outlook Add-ins and then re-activating each one. None of this solves the problem. I’d welcome any advice on how to resolve this.

  • In ufw is there any way to disable logging for a particular rule?

    I am using UFW with a default logging policy of "low". I would like to keep this logging on for the default deny action, but disable it for a particular IP address only. So I'd like to create one particular new rule that doesn't have logging. Is there a way to achieve this?   • Reading a file from a jar, or anywhere on the classpath?

    I'm trying to build an application that builds a resource file into a jar, but I'd like to have the project runnable within eclipse. I have a basic maven 2 structure for my project, and I'm unsure how to read in the file such that it's found and used when run from the JAR or from within eclipse. Thought? Structure: src/main/java src/main/resources/file.txt Current reading method: getClass().getResourceAsStream("/file.txt") Is there reading method that will pick up src/main/resources/*, as well as the root level of the JAR (where resources are deployed)?

  • OpenGL ES clarifying question regarding FBOs -- sorry can't find this info anywhere else?

    If I instantiate an FBO without binding a rendering buffer or a texture to it, what happens when I draw to it, nothing? Do I need to associate a rendering target (renderbuffer or texture) to have an FBO do anything? What I'm trying to do is precache some buffers and then merge them later, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Ideally I'd like to do something like glBindFramebufferOES(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_OES, fbo1); // Draw some stuff to fbo1 glBindFramebufferOES(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_OES, fbo2); // Draw some stuff to fbo2 // ... // ... // glRenderFbo(fbo1); -- Not a func // Set blending, etc. etc. // glRenderFbo(fbo2); -- Not a func

  • Can I use an NSDecimalNumber anywhere that an NSNumber is expected?

    NSDecimalNumber is a subclass of NSNumber, and from what I can tell, it implements all of the NSNumber methods as expected for an NSNumber instance. Given that, is it ok to give NSDecimalNumbers to any code that is expecting an NSNumber? The only possible issue might be code that checks that an argument is an instance of NSNumber, but since NSNumber is a class-cluster, code like this would have to check that the instance is a subclass of NSNumber, and NSDecimalNumber instances should pass the same tests.

  • NO FBML is working in iframe in facebook using PHP (ie or ff or anywhere else!)

    I have tried for three days now and gotten nowhere on this.... I absolutely can not get any "fb:" code to render anything! I've tried the exact code in the sandbox and it works fine. I've read through every search result I could find and gotten nowhere...   • How to register a model in django-tagging anywhere not in the applications?

    Is it possible to register a model in django-tagging not in tagging app, nor in my app? The standard way is to edit apps/myapp/models.py this way: from apps import tagging tagging.register(MyModel) I want to keep both applications without changes, for example, to be able to pull new versions and just replace them. So I tried putting this into project settings.py, in the end, but of course this fails. from apps.myapp.models import MyModel from apps import tagging tagging.register(MyModel) (This fails when importing MyModel.) Any other way?

Do I need to reboot or do someone to make the changes permanent? Last time I rebooted the rules disappeared from iptables :/

    I am using a standard Drupal install hosted on a LAMP stack. My settings.php has the following set: ini_set('session.gc_probability', 1); ini_set('session.gc_divisor', 100); ini_set('session.gc_maxlifetime', 200000); ini_set('session.cookie_lifetime', 2000000); my php.ini file has: session.gc_probability = 1 session.gc_divisor = 1000 session.gc_maxlifetime = 1440 Also I have checked that the safe mode is off so that my settings.php file is able to override main php.ini variables. Also since the person can get log out at 15 minutes, it is making me wonder whether php.ini has anything to do with it anyways. I have combed through my code and it seems to work fine on my local host however on server it is having issues. Where else can i possibly check?????

  • How could I insert a string into the response stream anywhere I want?

    There may be an easy way to do this but I can't see it... I created a simple Http Module that starts a timer on the PreRequestHandler and stops the timer on the PostRequestHandler to calculate the time it took the page to load. I then create some simple html and write my results to Response.Write. Since I'm doing this in the PostRequestHandler it's adding my results after the </html> tag. That's fine for testing but I need in a scenario where the page needs to validate. I can't seem to figure out how I could manipulate the Response object to insert my results before the </body> tag. Response.Write and Response.Output.Write don't have that flexibility and I couldn't see a way to work with the Response as a string. Am I missing something easy?

    I'm trying to get a Yaws web server working on a cloud service (Amazon AWS). I've compilled and installed a local copy on the server. My problem is that I can't get Yaws to run while running on either port 8000 or port 80.   • The Politics of Junk Filtering

    If the national postal service, such as the Royal Mail in the UK, were to go through your letters and throw away all the stuff it considered to be junk instead of delivering it to you, you might be rather pleased until you discovered that it took a too liberal decision about what was junk. Catalogs you'd asked for? Junk! Requests from charities? Who needs them! Parcels from competing carriers? Toss them away! The possibility for abuse for an agency that was in a monopolistic position is just too scary to tolerate. After all, the postal service could charge 'consultancy fees' to any sender who wanted to guarantee that his stuff got delivered, or they could even farm this out to other companies. Because Microsoft Outlook is just about the only email client used by the international business community in the west, its' SPAM filter is the final arbiter as to what gets read. My Outlook 2007, set to the default settings, junks all the perfectly innocent email newsletters that I subscribe to. Whereas Google Mail, Yahoo, and LIVE are all pretty accurate in detecting spam, Outlook makes all sorts of silly mistakes. The documentation speaks techno-babble about 'advanced heuristics', but the result boils down to an inaccurate mess. The more that Microsoft fiddles with it, the stickier the mess. To make matters worse, it still lets through obvious spam. The filter is occasionally updated along with other automatic 'security' updates you opt for automatic updates. As an editor for a popular online publication that provides a newsletter service, this is an obvious source of frustration. We follow all the best-practices we know about. We ensure that it is a trivial task to opt out of receiving it. We format the newsletter to the requirements of the Service Providers. We follow up, and resolve, every complaint. As a result, it gets delivered. It is galling to discover that, after all that effort, Outlook then often judges the contents to be junk on a whim, so you don't get to see it. A few days ago, Microsoft published the PST file format specification, under pressure from a European Union interoperability investigation by ECIS (the European Committee for Interoperable Systems). The objective was that other applications could then access existing PST files so as to migrate from existing Outlook installations to other solutions. Joaquín Almunia, the current competition commissioner, should now turn his attention to the more subtle problems of Microsoft Outlook. The Junk problem seems to have come from clumsy implementation of client-side spam filtering rather than from deliberate exploitation of a monopoly on the desktop email client for businesses, but it is a growing problem nonetheless.   • Managing MS Exchange server-side email rules on Mac OS X?

    Has anybody found an easy way to manage server-side rules from Mac OS X? Here's a brief list of what I know doesn't work: Entourage 2008 - it supports client rules, but not server rules. No good, there are certain actions that should happen before I open my laptop or check my email on my iPhone. Apple Mail - same as Entourage, but at least I don't get as frustrated since, unlike Entourage, this isn't a Microsoft product. Web mail (aka Outlook Web Access) - perhaps you can manage rule in the fancy version which Exchange serves to IE, but not with the browsers available on a Mac. I manage this now by launching a VMWare virtual machine running Windows XP and Outlook. I don't count that as an easy way. Update, post release of Office 2011 Does MS Outlook 2011 have the ability to manage server-side rules? Update, post installation of Office 2011 No. Outlook 2011 doesn't have this ability. I've already removed my account from Outlook and switched back to Apple Mail and iCal
