• Display Img and Div inline - it's not rendered inline

  In order to follow correct web standards, I've tried to layout image and div inline. In orde to achieve that - I've used display:inline property. But then I experienced the following issue: image renders from the center line, and div doesn't respect height parameter set to it. I've tried using line-height parameter, but that didn't give any useful results. I've also tried various combinations with setting margin/padding to some values or to auto, or replacing div with span, or wrapping img and div with additional divs. I've managed to achieve desired result by using position:absolute, but that doesn't help in cases where I want to use centered/relative positioning of the whole component... Any clues or ideas or troubleshooting hints? • text view not wrapping

  I just tried a sample of retrieving and passing it to a textview. I am having some trouble wrapping my textview. The bottom part is not completely shown. • Text rendering blurred in Firefox and Internet Explorer using jQuery

  Not sure what causes this? If I user slideDown in Firefox the text rendering cuts off the top of the letters before the animation is complete. This is ok in IE. If I then change the animation to use fadeIn instead, the blur does not happen in Firefox but the text is very jagged in IE. From another question I have asked in the past pertaining to animation, the guy told me that I should wrap that which I want to animate in another DIV and animate that instead. This sorted out the jerkiness caused by the padding on the content inside the .animateDiv. Is there a trick to the text rendering as well in jQuery

• Zedgraph textobj X location depends on text length?

  I have a Zedgraph textobj which I want to place always in the same x, y position (ASP.NET image). I noticed that the text doesn't always show in the same starting x position. It shifts depending on the text's length. I tried to have the text to have the same length by padding it with spaces. It helped a little but the result is not always consistent. I am using PaneFraction for coordType. What's the proper method to have a piece of text to always show in the same x position. I am using textobj as a title because the native title property always shows up centered and I need my title be left aligned to the graph.

• CSS class equivalent for LaTeX

  I am trying to figure out if there is a way to apply the CSS methodology to the LaTeX template I am building. What I would like to do is to have a set of classes that apply a specific style treatment to the bracketed words. For example: If I have three paragraphs of text, I want to have all of the paragraphs have [0.5cm] of spacing after the last line without having to add \\[0.5cm] after each paragraph. Is there a LaTeX equivalent of defining the treatment for all paragraphs in the preamble so that it cascades throughout my document? The equivalent of: <style> p {padding-bottom:0.5cm} </style> I want to be able to specify multiple version of these CSS-like LaTeX classes throughout my document, so I don't need a specific solution. I need help understanding how to add custom labels/names/classes to the preamble and an example of how to use them in the document itself. Thanks! Ryan

• [Rails] Cross Browser Popup size woes

  I need to display certain content inside a popup window, and the body element must be 320px by 300px for styling purposes So I do the following: %p = link_to "Play in popup", popup_podcast_path(@podcast), :popup => ['new_window','height=300,width=320,toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes'] Firefox does exactly what I ask it to do, it displays a popup window, with a page body that is 320px wide and 300px high, so my content fits perfectly inside. But Chrome includes the browser frame dimensions when sizing the popup, which means that the body element is less than the required size.... i.e. if the browser titlebar is 10px high, then this is subtracted from the space allocated to the body element How do I tell Chrome, that I want the body element to be 320 by 300, and that I dont want it to subtract the width and height of the browser frame from body element dimensions It's a bit like the old box-model problem where FF and IE added padding in different ways except firefox adds the browser frame outside the desired 320x300 size, and Chrome is adding it inside

• Is there a practical alternative to struct inheritance? (C#)

  I am writing code that will populate the Margin, Padding and BorderThickness properties of classes in the System.Windows.Documents namespace. Each of these properties accepts a value in the form of a System.Windows.Thickness, which is a struct. However, I wish to associate some additional data with each of these property assignments, which may subsequently be retrieved by my code. If Thickness were a class, I would inherit from it and define properties in the subclass to store my additional data items. But since it is a struct, inheritance is not possible. Is there any practical way to achieve this, while maintaining type-compatibility with the properties I am populating? Thanks for your ideas, Tim

• simple div containing span won't size correctly

  I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about CSS but this simple problem baffles me. <div><span>sample text</span></div> results in the div's height being smaller than the height of the span if the span has padding. I realize that there are ways to use "float" to make the div size correctly, but floats always seem to introduce undesired side effects. Isn't there a clean simple way to tell the div to size to fit its contents? Seems pretty basic to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

• is JsonP working with Opera, Chrome & Safari ?

  Hi, On a web site that I am building , when you log in (because the database is on an other server), I use json padding to check if the user as the right credentials. • Wrong bbox or descent with @font-face and opentype font

  Hey all, I embedded a opentype font with @font-face. Works fine, but the bbox or descent (or baseline/descent line?) is wrong on certain browsers/OSs. The problem is e.g. on a Mac the bbox is not right, that means to center the text in it's bbox I have to set a padding to the paragraph. I guess the font was created on Windows and was not tested on Linux and OS X, and the font rendering engines in these OSs work diffrently. Any idea how to solve withs problem? • Strange IE7 behaviors(or not)

  I see no reason why this shouldn't work in all browsers, here is my css for anchor tag : .myButton{ background:none repeat scroll 0 0 #FFFFFF; border:1px solid #D8DFEA !important; color:#3B5998; cursor:pointer; font-size:20px; padding:10px; } Here is how it looks in IE7 : And here is how it looks in other browsers : HTML is nothing unusual as well : <a href="#" class="myButton">Beta</a> All of this is inside table, this anchor html is wrapped around with : <tr> <td><a>...</a></td> <tr> I don't think this has to do it with anything but I mentioned it just in case, so the button is missing border top, any indications what might cause this?

  Can you bottom repeat a sprite background where I want the sprite to be set of the background on the bottom of the div. • understanding silverlight resource file format

  I'm trying to understand the format of silverlight resource files. There are 4 bytes of the data comes after PAD. I'd like to know what these values are, and how they are generated. here is the hex dump of a .g.resources file. Here is what I know: there is 0xbeefcace at the beginning, then there is dependancies, then padding. after that is the great unknown (but I really like to know). After 4 null bytes, are the file name and size of the resource. and After that is content of the said file. I'm not that familiar with .Net and silverlight resource management. would someone please tell me what the mystical 4 bytes are, or point me the url to the specification doc or something. Any help would be appreciated!

• Extra blank page when converting HTML to PDF using abcPDF

  I have an HTML report, with each print page contained by a <div class="page">. The page class is defined as width: 180mm; height: 250mm; page-break-after: always; background-position: centre top; background-image: url(Images/MainBanner.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; padding-top: 30mm; After making a few changes to my report content, when I call abcPDF to convert the report to PDF, suddenly I'm getting a blank page inserted after every real report page. I don't want to roll back the changes I've just made to remove this problem, so I'm hoping someone may know why the extra pages are being inserted.
