• Cassandra/HBase or just MySQL: Potential problems doing the next thing

  Say I have "user". It's the key. And I need to keep "user count". I am planning to have record with key "user" and value "0" to "9999+ ;-)" (as many as I'll have). What problems I will drive in if I use Cassandra, HBase or MySQL for that? Say, I have thousand of new updates to this "user" key, where I need to increment the value. Am I in trouble? Locked for writes? Any other way of doing that? Why this is done -- there will be a lot of "user"-like keys. Different other cases. But the idea is the same. Why keep it this way -- because I'll have more reads, so I can always get "counted value" very fast.

  Hello, I'm trying to match an email address here is what I've come up with so far : String text = "[email protected]"; String regex = "(\\w+)@{1}(\\w+){2,}\\.{1}\\w{2,4}"; This however works with following cases : [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] So it matches any alphanumeric character repeated once or more that comes before one @ followed by any alphanumeric character repeated at least two times(which is minimal characters for any domain name) followed by one .(dot) and followed by any alphanumeric character repeated at least 2 times and at most 4 times(because there are domains such as .us or .mobi). This expression however does not work with emails such as : [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] etc as many subdomains or [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] I've just started to learn regex and I found interesting to try to solve problems such as these by using regex .. not partially but for each case, any help would be much appriciated.   I'm having problems installing development machine for Sharepoint (Foundation) 2010. This is what I did so far on the same machine: Installed a clean Windows 7 x64 with 4GB of RAM without being part of any domain. Just a simple standalone machine. Enabled IIS related features as described here except IIS6 related ones (two of them) Installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Development Edition (DB Engine and Writer being enabled but not SQL Agent) Installed Visual Studio 2010 Premium Started installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with first extracting files, changing config to enable Windows 7 installation and then installed it as Server Farm (then Complete) to avoid installing SQL Express. Created a separate SPF_CONFIG local user with Logon on as a service right. Opened SPF Management Shell and run New-SPConfigurationDatabase so I am able to use a non-domain username (SPF_CONFIG that I created in the previous step) But all I get is this: The outcome after this error is: Database Sharepoint2010Config is created User SPF_CONFIG is added to SQL Server and attached to this newly created database as dbowner and checking SQL server security logins this user has following rights: dbcreator securityadmin public

  I get this exception after i removed from my project the jars (pdfbox ,bouncycastle etc) and moved them to another folder but i included them in the build path ... at the first line eclipse shows this error( the constructor PDFParser(InputStream) refers to missing type InputStream) -altought FileInputStream is extended from InputStream- and i don't know why? • IE7 resize problems

  i have a page that contains content which need to be dynamically changed according to the current page size. in order to do that, during the onload event, i attach some JS function to the "onresize" window event. it looks like that: window.onresize = function() { //do something here... }; This is working fine in any browse, except IE7! These are the problems i'm having: It seems that in IE7, when i resize the window vertically only (i.e. clicking with the mouse on the bottom border, and drag it down), it does not fire the "onresize" event. sometimes, i get an infinite loop of "onresize" event, causing the browser to hang forever. I will appreciate any help with any of these issues. thanks, Moe

• How to demonstrate java multithreading visibility problems?

  If variables in Java are accessed from multiple threads, one must ensure that they are safely published. This usually means using synchronizedor volatile. I have got the impression, that some of my colleagues do not take this issue seriously, since they "never heard of volatile before and their programs have worked for years". So my question is: Can someone provide an example Java program/snippet, that reliably shows data visibility problems. I think running a program and seeing the unexpected NPE or stale variable value would help more, than just theoretic explanations, that cannot be demonstrated. Thanks a lot for your help!

• Table and Column names causing problems

  I have an issue when the T4 linq templates generate the classes for my MySql db using subsonic 3. It looks like one of our table names "operator" is causing problems in the Context.cs generated class. In the following line of code in Context.cs Visual Studio sees <operator> as a c# operator and generates a compilation error of "Type expected" public Query<operator> operators { get; set; } Is there anyway I can work around this without having to rename my database table and column names? For example hard coding something in Settings.ttinclude to use or map different names to specific db tables and columns?

• MooTools Sortables with horizontal list having problems

  I am having problems sorting list items using the Sortables class when the list items are displayed horizontally. Removing this style fixed everything: display: inline Created an example on jsfiddle. This works. Check the stylesheet for .countries li - it does not display the list inline - http://jsfiddle.net/Wgpqw/ This does not work properly. I can drag the list items around the list, but the sort randomly happens when moving around - http://jsfiddle.net/Wgpqw/1/ I suspect it has something to do with the list element positioning in inline mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Problems with contenttypes when loading a fixture in Django

  I am having trouble loading Django fixtures into my MySQL database because of contenttypes conflicts. First I tried dumping the data from only my app like this: ./manage.py dumpdata escola > fixture.json but I kept getting missing foreign key problems, because my app "escola" uses tables from other applications. I kept adding additional apps until I got to this: ./manage.py dumpdata contenttypes auth escola > fixture.json Now the problem is the following constraint violation when I try to load the data as a test fixture: IntegrityError: (1062, "Duplicate entry 'escola-t23aluno' for key 2") It seems the problem is that Django is trying to dynamically recreate contenttypes with different primary key values that conflict with the primary key values from the fixture. This appears to be the same as bug documented here: http://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/7052 The problem is that the recommended workaround is to dump the contenttypes app which I'm already doing!? What gives? If it makes any difference I do have some custom model permissions as documented here: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/models/options/#permissions

  Hi Guys, I am using "malsups" jQuery corner plugin - http://jquery.malsup.com/corner/ - and having a bit of nightmare of a time with IE. Basically I have <ol><li> <span class="main"> <span class="test1"></span> <span class="test2"></span> <span class="test3"> <span id="test4"></span> <span id="special" class="special"> <span class="test4">TEXT</span> </span> </span> </li></ol> Basically, in IE when I try and make the id="special" have rounded corners - i get a distorted view. I think its something related to problems with referencing li elements using jQuery('#special').corner('5px'); Could anyone help :) ?

• jquery ui modal dialog problems in IE

  I use jquery ui dialog widget. Everything works fine in FF, Opera etc., except IE. The problem is that when dialog is opened in Internet Explorer, some space (not covered with that "modal gray layer") is added at the bottom of the document, and page is scrolled to the bottom. So I don't even see the dialog, I have to scroll up, to see it fully. Anyone had that problems? Any solutions? EDIT: now I see, that this "bottom space" is also added in FireFox, but it doesn't scroll to it like in IE.

  I am running a JSP/Servlet Web application and out of nowhere we experienced some random problems that don't make any sense. I checked the catalina.out file to check the log files, and I noticed it contained some of the following messages SEVERE: Error starting static Resources java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid or unreadable WAR file : error in opening zip file INFO: validateJarFile(/home/weremo/appservers/ apache-tomcat-6.0.26/webapps /WMA/WEB-INF/lib/ servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class I am aware of what this message means, but am in the dark as to what could have caused it, or what effects it could have on the application.

  Ok so I am starting off with android development and I have found a bunch of useful tutorials so I am set there. What I am looking for is a resource that provides homework style problems to do and has the answers downloadable so I can check my solution against the "official" solution. So for example instead of the notepad tutorial it would be: "Build an application that you can create, edit, delete notes, ...etc.". Ideally the "official" solution would have some explanation as to why they built it the way they did. (so a tutorial at the tail end) Anyone know of any resources that provide their tutorials in this format? Thanks.

• Python MySQLdb LOAD LOCAL INFILE problems

  The problem is a simple one. When I execute the following I get different results depending on whether I run it from the MySQL console and from inside a Python Script using MySQLdb: LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE '/tmp/source.csv' INTO TABLE test FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' IGNORE 1 LINES; Console gives the following results: Records: 35002 Deleted: 0 Skipped: 0 Warnings: 0 Python (via .info()) returns the following: Records: 34977 Deleted: 0 Skipped: 0 Warnings: 8 So in summary, same source file, same SQL request, different results. From the console I can 'SHOW WARNINGS' an get a better handle on which records are causing the problems and why but from Python I can't idenitify how to do this or more importantly what the cause of the problem could be. Any suggestions? MySQL Server '5.1.41-3ubuntu12.1' Python '2.6.5' Tables are MyISAM

  Hi! I did go over from SQL server 2005 to 2008. Doing that gave me some problems with the fulltext search. This site is based on Fulltext search. It occurs more deadlocks, the search is slower and sometimes it return empty lists, don't know why. A lot of people has been writning about they having this problem with 2008. But I haven'tgot any solutions why 2005 worked better for my program.. PLS help me out!

• Flash upload problems (FileReferenceList, timeouts, #2038 )

  Hello! I'm having problems with timeouts while trying to upload multiple files by using FileReferenceList. upload() is being called in a loop for all selected files on Event.SELECT event of FileReferenceList, but only 2 files are being uploaded simultaneously (I also see 2 opened sockets that are used for uploading by running netstat -aon | find "127.0.0.1:80"). If uploading of any file is not started in 60 seconds, I get a #2038 error. E.g., if I try to upload three large files (like 500MB each), first two uploads are started immediately, third one is not started (because limit is 2 simultaneous uploads) and it fails after 60 seconds with #2038 error (I'm fairly sure that this is because of timeout - tested it). This could be solved by calling upload() only when uploading previous file is completed, but I don't want to "hard-code" the number of possible simultaneous uploads (2 on my PC). Is there any way to get/set this number at runtime?
