  • Post bacc CS certificate of Java Certification?

    I have a BS in biology, MS in Environmental Science, but I've been writing software in C++ and Java throughout grad school and a bit in my current job. I'd love to transition to a programming career. I've thought about getting what's called a "Post baccalaureate Certificate" or Java certification in lieu of another degree in CS. Which is more useful in terms of getting a job?

  • I want to learn a new language!

    Hi, I'm a college student majoring in computer science. I know java and will be learning C++ the next couple years at school. I want to add another language to my repertoire and have gotten conflicting advice: Ruby, Python, Perl, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, among others. I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the relative value of each of these languages in the job market, the ease of learning of each of the languages, and just personal preferences when it comes to the languages mentioned above.   • How to parse a directory tree in python?

    I have a directory called "notes" within the notes I have categories which are named "science", "maths" ... within those folder are sub-categories, such as "Quantum Mechanics", "Linear Algebra". ./notes --> ./notes/maths ------> ./notes/maths/linear_algebra --> ./notes/physics/ ------> ./notes/physics/quantum_mechanics My problem is that I don't know how to put the categories and subcategories into TWO SEPARATE list/array.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which schools / programs I can do? A masters is probably out of the question, due to the time required (and my not so good verbal score on my GRE).     Right now I am going through MIT's introduction to Computer Science course via OpenCourseWare. As a part of this course I am learning the Python Language. I've read a lot of things about the benefits of learning C. Before I dig any deeper into Python I wonder if I will be hindered or helped by learning Python first.   • Help with google maps api, user allowed marker map

    Without telling everyone too much about my new idea for a website, Pretty much I need help, maybe someone can help write it up, with a site that has a simple map that allows any user to double click the map and make a marker. When the marker comes up I just want Title and Description available for edit(only once, so others cant change it).     So I wanted to create the fixed nav bar on top of the page. Now the problem is that I need to add sub-menus under Science and Pipeline heading. Since I didn't use UL or LI, how can I add sub-menus under those heading. OR, can you tell me any other way to create a NAV bar that shows the logo as well. so it would be LOGO and MENUS on the same line. Great thanks in advance.
