• Help Auditing in Oracle

  Hello everybody I need some help in auditing in Oracle. We have a database with many tables and we want to be able to audit every change made to any table in any field. So the things we want to have in this audit are: user who modified time of change occurred old value and new value so we started creating the trigger which was supposed to perform the audit for any table but then had issues... As I mentioned before we have so many tables and we cannot go creating a trigger per each table. So the idea is creating a master trigger that can behaves dynamically for any table that fires the trigger. I was trying to do it but no lucky at all....it seems that Oracle restricts the trigger environment just for a table which is declared by code and not dynamically like we want to do. Do you have any idea on how to do this or any other advice for solving this issue? thanks in advance.

• Small gaps in section headers with custom headers - iPhone / Objective-C

  Hi there! Since I wanted to use the standard section header with a different font size, I just made custom section headers by using an UIImageView with the standard section header as an image. It looks fine at first, but when I scroll the table, there are small gaps below and above the section headers: Since I am not allowed to post images or more than one hyperlink yet, I will have to provide you with one link to those images: Click me! Another thing to mention is, that the standard behaviour of non-custom section headers is, that they don't become transparent when I drag the table down (making the table offset < 0.0). Is there a way to make custom section headers mimic the same behaviour without those annoying gaps? Greetings, Zhar

  Say I have a select statement that goes.. select * from animals That gives a a query result of all the columns in the table. Now, if the 42nd column of the table animals is is_parent, and I want to return that in my results, just after gender, so I can see it more easily. But I also want all the other columns. select is_parent, * from animals This returns ORA-00936: missing expression. The same statement will work fine in Sybase, and I know that you need to add a table alias to the animals table to get it to work ( select is_parent, a.* from animals ani), but why must Oracle need a table alias to be able to work out the select?

  Hi All, I am stuck with a small problem here.. What i am trying to do is copy description of id's from one table to another. I have writter half of the javascript and can anybody tell me how to convert this function in jquery. I want the description copied from the first table based on the id to the second table. • How to use JQUERY to filter table rows dynamically using multiple form inputs

  I'm displaying a table with multiple rows and columns. I'm using a JQUERY plugin called uiTableFilter which uses a text field input and filters (shows/hides) the table rows based on the input you provide. All you do is specify a column you want to filter on, and it will display only rows that have the text field input in that column. Simple and works fine. I want to add a SECOND text input field that will help me narrow the results down even further. So, for instance if I had a PETS table and one column was petType and one was petColor -- I could type in CAT into the first text field, to show ALL cats, and then in the 2nd text field, I could type black, and the resulting table would display only rows where BLACK CATS were found. Basically, a subset. Here is the JQUERY I'm using: $("#typeFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( theTable, this.value, "petType" ); } }) // end typefilter $("#colorFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( newTable, this.value, "petColor" ); } }) // end colorfilter Problem is, I can use one filter, and it will display the correct subset of table rows, but when I provide input for the other filter, it doesn't seem to recognize the visible table rows that are remaining from the previous column, but instead it appears that it does an entirely new filtering of the original table. If 10 rows are returned after applying one filter, the 2nd filter should only apply to THOSE 10 rows. I've tried LIVE and BIND, but not working. Can anyone shed some light on where I'm going wrong? • ASP.NET: Custom MembershipProvider with a custom user table

  I've recently started tinkering with ASP.NET MVC, but this question should apply to classic ASP.NET as well. For what it's worth, I don't know very much about forms authentication and membership providers either. I'm trying to write my own MembershipProvider which will be connected to my own custom user table in my database. My user table contains all of the basic user information such as usernames, passwords, password salts, e-mail addresses and so on, but also information such as first name, last name and country of residence. As far as I understand, the standard way of doing this in ASP.NET is to create a user table without the extra information and then a "profile" table with the extra information. However, this doesn't sound very good to me, because whenever I need to access that extra information I would have to make one extra database query to get it. I read in the book "Pro ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008" that having a separate table for the profiles is not a very good idea if you need to access the profile table a lot and have many different pages in your website. Now for the problem at hand... As I said, I'm writing my own custom MembershipProvider subclass and it's going pretty well so far, but now I've come to realize that the CreateUser doesn't allow me to create users in the way I'd like. The method only takes a fixed number of arguments and first name, last name and country of residence are not part of them. So how would I create an entry for the new user in my custom table without this information at hand in CreateUser of my MembershipProvider?

• Magento resource model for table with compound primary key

  I am creating a custom module for a Magento ecommerce site, and the module will center around a new (ie, custom) table that has a compound/composite primary key, or rather the table has two columns that make up the primary key. Does anybody know how to create your models/resource models based on a table with a compound key? To give a few more details, I have looked up several tutorials and also used the excellent moduleCreator script. But it seems like all the tutorials revolve around the table having a PK with just one column in it. Something like this: class <Namespace>_<Module>_Model_Mysql4_<Module> extends Mage_Core_Model_Mysql4_Abstract { public function _construct(){ $this->_init('<module_alias>/<table_alias>', '<table_primary_key_id>'); } } Also, I just noticed that looking at the database model almost all tables have a single primary key. I understand this has much to do with the EAV-style db structure, but still is it possible to use a table with a compound PK? I want to stick with the Magento framework/conventions if possible. Is it discouraged? Should I just change the structure of my custom table to have some dummy id column? I do have the ability to do that, but geez! (Another side note that I thought I would mention is that it looks like the Zend Framework provides a way to base a class on a table with compound primary key (see Example #20 on this page - about half-way down), so it seems that the Magento framework should also provide for it... I just don't see how.)

  I'm trying to create a table (a work schedule) I have coded previously using python, I think it would be a nice introduction to the Clojure language for me. I have very little experience in Clojure (or lisp in that matter) and I've done my rounds in google and a good bit of trial and error but can't seem to get my head around this style of coding. • Internet Explorer table 1 pixel spacing problem

  I've found a strange problem with Internet Explorer related to table spacing and cannot find a way to work around it. An empty table results in a single pixel white space with Internet Explorer (6 and 7, 8 not yet tested), while all other browsers ignore the empty table. • Jquery problem - cant expand the row above in a table

  Hi People, What I cant figure out is how I would toggle a row in a table using the one below it. So say I have a table with 2 rows the first contains content and the one below contains a button, when the page loads the content row is hidden and when you click the button it toggles the content row on and off.   My concern is about what I currently call "dictionary tables", that are database tables containing a list of controlled vocabulary. Let's use an example: Suppose you have a table User containing fields: user_id : primary key first_name last_name user_type_id : foreign key to the UserType table and another table UserType with just two fields: user_type_id : primary key name : the name/value of a particular type of user. For instance, the UserType table may contain (1, Administrator), (2, PowerUser), (3, Normal)... My question is: what is the canonical term for a table like UserType, that only contains a list of (dictinct) words. I want to publish some code that help managing this kind of tables, but first I have to name them ! Thanks for your help. Current state of thought: For now I feel Lookup Tables is a good term. • Performance impact when using XML columns in a table with MS SQL 2008

  I am using a simple table with 6 columns, 3 of which are of XML type, not schema-constrained. When the table reaches a size around 120,000 or 150,000 rows, I see a dramatic performance cost in doing any query in the table. For comparison, I have another table, which grows in size at about the same rate, but only contain scalar types (int, datetime, a few float columns). That table performs perfectly fine even after 200,000 rows. And by the way, I am not using XQuery on the xml columns, i am only using regular SQL query statements. Some specifics: both tables contain a DateTime field called SampleTime. a statement like (it's in a stored procedure but I show you the actual statement) SELECT MAX(sampleTime) SampleTime FROM dbo.MyRecords WHERE PlacementID=@somenumber takes 0 seconds on the table without xml columns, and anything from 13 to 20 seconds on the table with XML columns. That depends on which drive I set my database on. At the moment it sits on a different spindle (not C:) and it takes 13 seconds. Has anyone seen this behavior before, or have any hint at what I am doing wrong? I tried this with SQL 2008 EXPRESS and the full-blown SQL Server 2008, that made no difference. Oh, one last detail: I am doing this from a C# application, .NET 3.5, using SqlConnection, SqlReader, etc.. I'd appreciate some insight into that, thanks! Sam

• MySQL: Complex Join Statement involving two tables and a third correlation table

  I have two tables that were built for two disparate systems. I have records in one table (called "leads") that represent customers, and records in another table (called "manager") that are the exact same customers but "manager" uses different fields (For example, "leads" contains an email address, and "manager" contains two fields for two different emails--either of which might be the email from "leads"). So, I've created a correlation table that contains the lead_id and manager_id. currently this correlation table is empty. I'm trying to query the "leads" table to give me records that match either "manager" email field with the single "leads" email field, while at the same time ignoring fields that have already been added to the "correlated" table. (this way I can see how many leads that match have not yet been correlated.) Here's my current, invalid SQL attempt: SELECT leads.id, manager.id FROM leads, manager LEFT OUTER JOIN correlation ON correlation.lead_id = leads.id WHERE correlation.id IS NULL AND leads.project != "someproject" AND (manager.orig_email = leads.email OR manager.dest_email = leads.email) AND leads.created BETWEEN '1999-01-01 00:00:00' AND '2010-05-10 23:59:59' ORDER BY leads.created ASC; I get the error: Unknown column 'leads.id' in 'on clause' Before you wonder: there are records in the "leads" table where leads.project != "someproject" and leads.created falls between those dates.   I have a very strange problems in a PHP Soap implementation. I have a private variable in the Server class which contains the DB name for further reference. The private variable name is "fromdb". I have a public function on the soap server where I can set this variable. $client-setFromdb. When I call it form my client works perfectly and the fromdb private variable can be set. But a second soap client call this private variable loses its value... • SQL: Order randomly when inserting objects to a table

  I have an UDF that selects top 6 objects from a table (with a union - code below) and inserts it into another table. (btw SQL 2005) So I paste the UDF below and what the code does is: selects objects for a specific city and add a level to those (from table Europe) union that selection with a selection from the same table for objects that are from the same country and add a level to those From the union, selection is made to get top 6 objects, order by level, so the objects from the same city will be first, and if there aren't any available, then objects from the same country will be returned from the selection. And my problem is, that I want to make a random selection to get random objects from table Europe, but because I insert the result of my selection into a table, I can't use order by newid() or rand() function because they are time-dependent, so I get the following errors: Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'newid' within a function. Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'rand' within a function.   Hi all I am struggling a little in getting my mapping right. What I have is a single self joined table of look up values of certain types. Each lookup can have a parent, which can be of a different type. For simplicities sake lets take the Country and State example. • Conditionally set an Apache environment variable

  I would like to conditionally set the value of an Apache2 environment variable and assign a default value if one of the conditions is not met. This example if a simplification of what I'm trying to do but, in effect, if the subdomain portion of the host name is hr, finance or marketing I want to set an environment var named REQUEST_TYPE to 2, 3 or 4 respectively. Otherwise it should be 1. I tried the following configuration in httpd.conf: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName foo.com ServerAlias *.foo.com DocumentRoot /var/www/html SetEnv REQUEST_TYPE 1 SetEnvIfNoCase Host ^hr\. REQUEST_TYPE=2 SetEnvIfNoCase Host ^finance\. REQUEST_TYPE=3 SetEnvIfNoCase Host ^marketing\. REQUEST_TYPE=4 </VirtualHost> However, the variable is always assigned a value of 1. The only way I have so far been able get it to work is to replace: SetEnv REQUEST_TYPE 1 with a regular expression containing a negative lookahead: SetEnvIfNoCase Host ^(?!hr.|finance.|marketing.) REQUEST_TYPE=1 Is there a better way to assign the default value of 1? As I add more subdomain conditions the regular expression could get ugly. Also, if I want to allow another request attribute to affect the REQUEST_TYPE (e.g. if Remote_Addr = 192.168.1.[100-150] then REQUEST_TYPE = 5) then my current method of assigning a default value (i.e. using the regular expression with a negative lookahead) probaby won't work.

• Path Environmental Variable errors

  So, I am trying to learn java. I installed the JDK and proceeded to write a few programs. Each time, I have to give the path to javac.exe to compile the .java file. SO, I decided to tweak the %PATH% variable. And no matter what I change it to, it doesn't work. when I do an echo %PATH%, I get 'Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. This is my Path variable contents : C:\app\product\11.1.0\client_1\bin;%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared\";"C:\Program Files\Broadcom\Broadcom 802.11";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\OEM\DLLShared\";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\OEM\DLLShared\";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\OEM\12.0\DLLShared\";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Roxio\OEM\AudioCore\";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Services\IPT\" How do I work around this? the double quotes were not there before, I added it thinking the space was the problem.
