  • ASP.NET Canceling the Default Submit Button

    I have an ASP.NET application where there's a few ASP.NET buttons and several plain HTML buttons. Anytime there's a textbox where a user hits enter, the ASP.NET button trys to submit the form. I know I can change the defaultButton, but I don't want there to be any default button. I just want it so when the user presses enter it doesn't do anything. I've tried setting defaultButton to blank, but that doesn't seem to work and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere on the web. What's the code to make this happen? Thanks.

    I have a DataTable (instance named: TimeTable) whose DefaultView (instance named: TimeTableView) I am trying to use to filter based on a date. Column clock_in contains an ISO8601 formatted string. I would like to select all the rows in this DataTable/DefaultView between 2009-10-08T08:22:02Z and 2009-10-08T20:22:02Z. What would I have to filter on this criteria? I tried: TimeTableView = TimeTable.DefaultView; TimeTableView.RowFilter = "clock_in >= #2009-10-08T08:22:02Z# and #2009-10-08T20:22:02Z#"; This is not working for me. Am I operating on the wrong object or is my filter syntax wrong?

  • Wondering about a way to conserve memory in C# using List<> with structs

    I'm not even sure how I should phrase this question. I'm passing some CustomStruct objects as parameters to a class method, and storing them in a List. What I'm wondering is if it's possible and more efficient to add multiple references to a particular instance of a CustomStruct if a equivalent instance it found. This is a dummy/example struct: public struct CustomStruct { readonly int _x; readonly int _y; readonly int _w; readonly int _h; readonly Enum _e; } Using the below method, you can pass one, two, or three CustomStruct objects as parameters. In the final method (that takes three parameters), it may be the case that the 3rd and possibly the 2nd will have the same value as the first. List<CustomStruct> _list; public void AddBackground(CustomStruct normal) { AddBackground(normal, normal, normal); } public void AddBackground(CustomStruct normal, CustomStruct hover) { AddBackground(normal, hover, hover); } public void AddBackground(CustomStruct normal, CustomStruct hover, CustomStruct active) { _list = new List<CustomStruct>(3); _list.Add(normal); _list.Add(hover); _list.Add(active); } As the method stands now, I believe it will create new instances of CustomStruct objects, and then adds a reference of each to the List. It is my understanding that if I instead check for equality between normal and hover and (if equal) insert normal again in place of hover, when the method completes, hover will lose all references and eventually be garbage collected, whereas normal will have two references in the List. The same could be done for active. That would be better, right? The CustomStruct is a ValueType, and therefore one instance would remain on the Stack, and the three List references would just point to it. The overall List size is determined not by the object Type is contains, but by its Capacity. By eliminating the "duplicate" CustomStuct objects, you allow them to be cleaned up. When the CustomStruct objects are passed to these methods, new instances are created each time. When the structs are added to the List, is another copy made? For example, if i pass just one CustomStruct, AddBackground(normal) creates a copy of the original variable, and then passes it three times to Addbackground(normal, hover, active). In this method, three copies are made of the original copy. When the three local variables are added to the List using Add(), are additional copies created inside Add(), and does that defeat the purpose of any equality checks as previously mentioned? Am I missing anything here?

    Hi, I just want advice on whether I could improve structure around a particular class which handles all disk access functions The structure of my program is that I have a class called Disk which gets data from flatfiles and databases on a, you guessed it, hard disk drive. I have functions like LoadTextFileToStringList, WriteStringToTextFile, DeleteLineInTextFile etc which are kind of "generic methods" In the same class I also have some more specific methods such as GetXFromDisk where X might be a particular field in a database table/query. Should I separate out the generic methods from the specialised. Should I make another class which inherits the generic methods. At the moment my class is static as there is no need to have an internal state of the class. I'm not really OOPing am I? Thanks Thomas

    I'd like to call Python's distutils' or setuptools' setup() function in a slightly unconventional way, but I'm not sure whether distutils is meant for this kind of usage. As an example, let's say I currently have a 'setup.py' file, which looks like this (lifted verbatim from the distutils docs--the setuptools usage is almost identical): from distutils.core import setup setup(name='Distutils', version='1.0', description='Python Distribution Utilities', author='Greg Ward', author_email='[email protected]', url='http://www.python.org/sigs/distutils-sig/', packages=['distutils', 'distutils.command'], ) Normally, to build just the .spec file for an RPM of this module, I could run python setup.py bdist_rpm --spec-only, which parses the command line and calls the 'bdist_rpm' code to handle the RPM-specific stuff. The .spec file ends up in './dist'. How can I change my setup() invocation so that it runs the 'bdist_rpm' command with the '--spec-only' option, WITHOUT parsing command-line parameters? Can I pass the command name and options as parameters to setup()? Or can I manually construct a command line, and pass that as a parameter, instead? NOTE: I already know that I could call the script in a separate process, with an actual command line, using os.system() or the subprocess module or something similar. I'm trying to avoid using any kind of external command invocations. I'm looking specifically for a solution that runs setup() in the current interpreter. For background, I'm converting some release-management shell scripts into a single Python program. One of the tasks is running 'setup.py' to generate a .spec file for further pre-release testing. Running 'setup.py' as an external command, with its own command line options, seems like an awkward method, and it complicates the rest of the program. I feel like there may be a more Pythonic way.

  • getting around circular references in Delphi

    Is there a way of getting around circular unit references in Delphi? Maybe a newer version of delphi or some magic hack or something? My delphi project has 100 000+ lines of code mostly based on singleton classes. I need to refactor this, but that would mean several months of "circular reference" hell :)

  • Can I reset a forgotten owner password with iText?

    With iText I can use Java to open a pdf and write it. If the pdf has an owner password I can still open it but it can not be written. Clearly the content is readable, it seems like at that point you could simply write the document to a new file. iText doesn't allow this, it throws a bad password exception. Is there a way around this?

Now I get a popup asking me where to save it, but I would like it to save it under a default name and path AND encoded in UTF-8.   • jQuery XML loading and then innerfade effect

    Hello, I think I can explain myself without code, so for brevity's sake here we go: I am using jquery to pull data from an xml and put it into a ul on the page with each xml entry as a li. This is working great! However, what I am trying to do afterwards is use the innerfade plugin to make a simple animation between each of the li's. It's not working though, as it is still just loading the static list with each item visible (whereas if innerfade was working it would only display the first....then fade into the second, etc) It's not an innerfade problem however, because if I add the list in manually to the page (not injecting it with jquery) then the innerfade works fine. I'm relatively new to DOM scripting, so I think I am missing something here. I'm not quite sure how jQuery sequences everything, and I'm having trouble phrasing my question in a search engine friendly manner so here I am. Is it possible to have jquery pull the data from xml, then inject it into the page, then have innerfade work it's magic?     Hi, I'm uploading a large amount of data from a CSV (I'm doing it via MySQL Workbench): LOAD DATA INFILE 'C:/development/mydoc.csv' INTO TABLE mydatabase.mytable CHARACTER SET utf8 FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"' LINES TERMINATED BY '\r'; However, I'm noticing that it keeps adding an empty line full of nulls/zeros after the last record. I'm guessing it's because of the "LINES TERMINATED" command. However, I need that to load the data in correctly. Is there some way around this / some better SQL to avoid the blank row in the table?   • Creating a Large Matrix in ff

    I am trying to create a huge matrix in ff, and I know that ff is good for this sort of thing. But, there is a major problem. The dimensions of the matrix exceed .Machine$max_integer! I am running on a 64 bit machine, using 64bit R and 64bit ff. Is there any way to get around this problem? It's been suggested that R is using the MAXINT value from stdint.h.   • How do I catch generic fault exceptions in Fitnesse?

    Previously within my Fitnesse fixture I was specifying an expected WCF exception using: exception[FaultException] Since then I have converted the WCF service to return a strongly typed FaultContract. I am now getting the following failure message: exception[FaultException`1: "A file with the name DMS Documents/testFileWord.doc already exists. It was last modified by SHAREPOINT\system on 09 Mar 2010 15:36:14 -0000."] This is not unexpected but how do I check for strongly typed fault exceptions? Please note I cannot include the fault message as part of the check as it contains a date which changes (I check this separately).

  • is JsonP working with Opera, Chrome & Safari ?

    Hi, On a web site that I am building , when you log in (because the database is on an other server), I use json padding to check if the user as the right credentials.   • Access to Perl's empty angle "<>" operator from an actual filehandle?

    I like to use the nifty perl feature where reading from the empty angle operator <> magically gives your program UNIX filter semantics, but I'd like to be able to access this feature through an actual filehandle (or IO::Handle object, or similar), so that I can do things like pass it into subroutines and such. Is there any way to do this? This question is particularly hard to google, because searching for "angle operator" and "filehandle" just tells me how to read from filehandles using the angle operator.

    Hi All I am learning Java through BlueJ I would like to add a removeLot method to the Auction Class in BlueJ Chpt 4. This involves also returning the lot with the given number or null if there is no such lot. If you enter , say 5 lots and then use the remove method, this codes removes whichever lot you specify. However if you enter a new lot after using the removeLot method - an internal error message comes up regarding lotnumbering . Any ideas?
