  • Displaying a collection of controls in a specific way in WPF

    - by Alvaro
I have a collection of controls "MyCollection" wich changes in the Runtime. And I have to follow some constraints for that, for example: If my parameter "MyCollection.Count = 4" the property "NumberOfcolumns" will have the value 2, in order to create new Lines, and show the controls Two per Two. This is how I'm displaying my collection : <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding MyCollection}" BorderThickness="0" HorizontalContentAlignment="Center" VerticalContentAlignment="Center" > <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate > <UniformGrid Columns="{Binding NumberOfColumns}" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Background="Transparent"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> The problem is that my controls have different sizes, and as In UniformGrids, Cells are uniform... My design is not really pretty, because I have little controls shown in big Cells !! Can someone help me to solve this problem ? NB: Please give me a detailled solution if possible, not something like : "Use WrapPanel..."

  • How to implement a TypeConverter for a type and property I don't own?

    - by CannibalSmith
This is annoying: <GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Brush="Black"/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> I want this: <GeometryDrawing Pen="Black"/> So I write a TypeConverter: public class PenConverter : TypeConverter { static readonly BrushConverter brushConverter = new BrushConverter(); public override bool CanConvertFrom(ITypeDescriptorContext context, Type sourceType) { if (sourceType == typeof(string)) return true; return base.CanConvertFrom(context, sourceType); } public override object ConvertFrom(ITypeDescriptorContext context, CultureInfo culture, object value) { var s = value as string; if (a != null) { var brush = brushConverter.ConvertFromInvariantString(s) as Brush; return new Pen(brush, 1); } return base.ConvertFrom(context, culture, value); } } Now, how do I link it up with the Pen type? I can't just add a TypeConverterAttribute to it as I don't own it (nor do I own GeometryDrawing.Pen property).

  • lighten background color on button click per binding

    - by one of two
    I want to lighten a buttons background on click. So I did the following: <converter:ColorLightConverter x:Key="colorLightConverter" /> ... <Style BasedOn="{StaticResource default}" TargetType="{x:Type controls:Button}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type controls:Button}"> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsPressed" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value> <SolidColorBrush Color="{Binding Path=Background.Color, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Converter={StaticResource colorLightConverter}}" /> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="Transparent" BorderThickness="0"> ... </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> The converter: class ColorLightConverter : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { Color color = (Color)value; System.Drawing.Color lightColor = ControlPaint.Light(System.Drawing.Color.FromArgb(color.A, color.R, color.G, color.B)); return Color.FromArgb(lightColor.A, lightColor.R, lightColor.G, lightColor.B); } public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } But the converter isn't called when I click the button. I think there is anything wrong with the binding, but I can't see the error... Can you help me? Maybe I'm completely wrong. What I basically want to do: When clicking the button, take the current background color and lighten it. Not more...

  • How do I extend a WPF application using an addin-like architeture?

    - by Thiado de Arruda
Lets say I have a WPF application that shows a ListBox with an ArrayList -populated with objects of arbitrary types- as a source, and this application is hosted in an assembly 'A'. By default the ListBox will display the custom object 'ToString' method return value. If a data template for that object type is found, the ListBox will use it for rendering. Imagine that theres another assembly 'B' that references of 'A' and seeks to extend it by providing custom data templates for certain types, to be used in that ListBox. Is there some way to do that without 'A'being aware of B?

    Hello, I've created a storyboard for a button in blend that I want it to apply everytime the button is pressed, So I tried to create a style,I've been stucked for a long time now. here is the code of my Storyboard: <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(CompositeTransform.ScaleX)" Storyboard.TargetName="button"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="1"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> <CubicEase EasingMode="EaseOut"/> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.25" Value="0.85"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> <QuinticEase EasingMode="EaseInOut"/> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.5" Value="1"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> <QuarticEase EasingMode="EaseIn"/> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(CompositeTransform.ScaleY)" Storyboard.TargetName="button"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="1"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> <CubicEase EasingMode="EaseOut"/> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.25" Value="0.85"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> <QuinticEase EasingMode="EaseInOut"/> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.5" Value="1"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> <QuarticEase EasingMode="EaseIn"/> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame.EasingFunction> </EasingDoubleKeyFrame> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> And Here is the code of my button style: <Style x:Key="ParametersButton" TargetType="ButtonBase" > <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource TransparentBrush}"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/> <Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="72" /> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDefaultBorderThickness}"/> <Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilyNormal}"/> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMediumLarge}"/> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="0,15,15,0"/> <Setter Property="Height" Value="72"/> <Setter Property="Width" Value="72"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="ButtonBase"> <Grid Background="Transparent" > <VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates"> <VisualState x:Name="Normal"/> <VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/> <VisualState x:Name="UnPressed"/> <VisualState x:Name="Pressed"> <Storyboard> <!--Here is where I want to insert my StoryBoard--> </Storyboard> </VisualState> <VisualState x:Name="Disabled"/> </VisualStateGroup> <VisualStateGroup x:Name="FocusStates"> <VisualState x:Name="Focused"/> <VisualState x:Name="Unfocused"/> </VisualStateGroup> </VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <Border x:Name="ButtonBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="0" CornerRadius="0" Background="#FF1BA1E2" Margin="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5"> <ContentControl x:Name="foregroundContainer" FontFamily="{TemplateBinding FontFamily}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" FontSize="{TemplateBinding FontSize}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}"/> </Border> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> How can I proceed ?   • How to remove the small of padding around the ListBoxItem?

    - by Darf Zon
I'm styling a listBox. i'm trying to clear the margins, so I realized which it, I set the padding of the style to 0 (left padding). But I can still seeing some margin in it, and I need to have no margin in it? Does you know which would be the problem? <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Partitions}"> <ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ListBox.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="ListBoxItem"> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="0"/> <Setter Property="Canvas.Top"> ... </Setter> </Style> </ListBox.ItemContainerStyle> I mean, I can see an extra space around the item and I can't handle it to modify to 0.

  • WPF - Extend ListView with checkable AND selectable ListViewItems

    - by Marks
Hi there. I already read many examples on extending ListViews with checkboxes bound with IsSelected. But I want something more. I want a seperation between the checked and selected state, so i get a ListBox that has a single selected item, but can have multiple checked items. Unfortunately ListViewItem does not have a property for checked and I dont see a possibility to get the ListView to work with a custom CheckableListViewItem. Of course i could use a List of objects with a checked property as ItemSource, but I dont think thats a good way to go. Checked or not is a matter of the list or item-container, not of the object listed in it. Beside that I dont want all my classes like user, role, group to have counterparts like checkableUser, checkableRole and checkableGroup. The behaviour i want can be easyly accomblished for the UI with a <DataTemplate x:Key="CheckBoxCell"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <CheckBox /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> and a <GridViewColumn CellTemplate="{StaticResource CheckBoxCell}" Width="30"/> But without a binding on the checkbox i cant check if it is checked or not. Is there any way to accomplish something like that? The perfect solution for me would be to have listView1.SelectedItem, listView1.CheckedItems and maybe a listView1.UncheckedItems and of course listView1.CheckItem and listView1.UncheckItem. Thanks for any help.

  • How to assign WPF resources to other resource tags

    - by Tom
This is quite obscure, I may just be missing something extremely simple. Scenario 1 Lets say I create a gradient brush, like this in my <Window.Resources> section: <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="GridRowSelectedBackBrushGradient" StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,1"> <GradientStop Color="#404040" Offset="0.0" /> <GradientStop Color="#404040" Offset="0.5" /> <GradientStop Color="#000000" Offset="0.6" /> <GradientStop Color="#000000" Offset="1.0" /> </LinearGradientBrush> Then much later on, I want to override the HighlightBrushKey for a DataGrid. I have basically done it like this (horrible); <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}" GradientStops="{Binding Source={StaticResource GridRowSelectedBackBrushGradient}, Path=GradientStops}" StartPoint="{Binding Source={StaticResource GridRowSelectedBackBrushGradient}, Path=StartPoint}" EndPoint="{Binding Source={StaticResource GridRowSelectedBackBrushGradient}, Path=EndPoint}" /> This is obviously not the most slick way of referencing a resource. I also came up with the following problem, which is almost identical. Scenario 2 Say I created two colors in my <Window.Resources> markup, like so: <SolidColorBrush x:Key="DataGridRowBackgroundBrush" Color="#EAF2FB" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="DataGridRowBackgroundAltBrush" Color="#FFFFFF" /> Then later on, I want to supply them in an Array, which feeds the ConverterParameter on a Binding so I can supply the custom Converter with my static resource instances: <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value> <Binding RelativeSource="{RelativeSource Mode=Self}" Converter="{StaticResource BackgroundBrushConverter}"> <Binding.ConverterParameter> <x:Array Type="{x:Type Brush}"> <SolidColorBrush Color="{Binding Source={StaticResource DataGridRowBackgroundBrush}, Path=Color}" /> <SolidColorBrush Color="{Binding Source={StaticResource DataGridRowBackgroundAltBrush}, Path=Color}" /> </x:Array> </Binding.ConverterParameter> </Binding> </Setter.Value> </Setter> What I've done is attempt to rereference an existing resource, but in my efforts I've actually recreated the resource, and bound the properties so they match. Again, this is not ideal. Because I've now hit this problem at least twice, is there a better way? Thanks, Tom

  • Access property of DataContext in ItemTemplate

    - by amrinder
My datacontext has two properties: Items which is a collection and DetailsVisiblity which is enum of type Visiblity. On the page I have a Listbox with ItemsSource="{Binding Entries}". Inside the DataTemplate, I can bind stuff to properties of Items, but how do I get access to DetailsVisiblity which is a property of DataContext? DataContext has two properties: ObservableCollection<Item> Entries, and Visibility DetailsVisiblity. Item class has two properties: Title and Details. Here is the view. How do I bind Visiblity of the second TextBlock to DetailsVisiblity property? <ListBox "{Binding Items}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Title}" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Details}" Visibility="{Binding ???}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox>

  • Adding a textblock to a custom wpf control (piepiece control from codeplex)

    - by bomortensen
Hi Stackoverflow! I'm currently building a Surface application where the main navigation is a circular menu. For each menu item I'm using a custom control that I found on codeproject.com: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/PieChartDataBinding.aspx (PiePiece control) The number of submenu items (which is also piepiece controls) comes from a database and thus dynamically loaded. What I can't figure out is how I add a textblock to this custom control to display the submenu item text. It needs to follow the PiePiece's RotationAngle property to line up correctly. Anyone got a hot-fix for this? I was thinking about adding another dependencyproperty to the piepiece custom control, but that way I can't set the font-family, size etc (can I?) Any input on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Binding to an ObservableCollection of UserControls

    - by nlawalker
Simple Silverlight question: I have an ObservableCollection<MyObject> in my viewmodel. Every MyObject has a Label property. If I bind a ListBox to the collection and set DisplayMemberPath to Label, or set the ItemTemplate to a TextBlock that binds the Text property to Label, all works as expected. If I change MyObject so it derives from a UserControl, the Label text no longer shows up in the ListBox; each item just shows up as a blank strip a few pixels tall. Why is this? There's obviously something I'm missing here about how different things get rendered.

  • WPF Animate and change Opacity of Image in sequence

    - by user1103757
    I have three images, two of these images animate as follow and third image should blink: <Window.Resources> <Storyboard x:Key="AnimateTarget" RepeatBehavior="Forever"> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="0:0:0" Duration="0:00:03" Storyboard.TargetName="img1" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Y"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0" Value="0" /> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:1" Value="200" /> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:2" Value="0" /> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="0:0:2" Duration="0:00:03" Storyboard.TargetName="img2" Storyboard.TargetProperty="x"> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0" Value="0" /> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:1" Value="200" /> <EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:2" Value="0" /> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <DoubleAnimation BeginTime="0:0:4" Duration="0:0:0.5" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Image.Opacity)" Storyboard.TargetName="img3" From="1.0" To="0.0" RepeatBehavior="Forever" AutoReverse="True" /> </Storyboard> </Window.Resources> The first two images are animating fine but the third image doesn’t blink, it will do nothing and just stay there as you can see I have used the following code for blinking the third image: <DoubleAnimation BeginTime="0:0:4" Duration="0:0:0.5" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Image.Opacity)" Storyboard.TargetName="img3" From="1.0" To="0.0" RepeatBehavior="Forever" AutoReverse="True" /> Also this is a code for the third image: <Image Height="65" Name="image1" Stretch="Fill" Width="67" Source="/PicTakeWPF;component/Images/422505_110594629067212_100003500265268_37406_1212153553_n.jpg"> <Image.RenderTransform> <TranslateTransform x:Name="img3"></TranslateTransform> </Image.RenderTransform> </Image> I would appreciate if someone helps me on this Thanks,

  • How to remove the auto added column (HeaderRole=Padding) in WPF GridView

    - by dnr3
Hi, I'm trying to make a custom gridview in WPF but I just realized that as this link says: The GridViewHeaderRowPresenter class performs layout for the column headers in a GridView and places an additional column header at the end to add space and because of the additional column header at the end, there's an extra column to the right of the last column. so I was wondering if I can modify it, please refer to this image below My questions are: Is there anyway I can remove the 'A' part from the grid? Is there anyway I can add the same effect of 'B' part (the role = padding header) to the 'C' Part (before the first column)? Thanks

How do I create a clicked state in visual state manager for a control that is based on a button control? I tried using a pressed state but once the mouse button is released it reverts back to the original color. I would like to change the color of the button when it is clicked on. I am not looking for a solution in the click event handler because this is a part of a template. Thank you

  • Capturing WPF Vector Information BEFORE it Renders to Screen

    - by user273722
I'm trying to "capture" or record the vector display information of a WPF (maybe Silverlight) application and play it back. However, instead of capturing bitmaps of what is rendered, I would like to capture the vector information BEFORE it gets rendered so that I can play it back at different resolutions without loss of quality. Ideally, I'd like to do this without having to add assemblies into my app (but willing to do so if necessary). I've looked into the WPF rendering pipeline and cannot find an appropriate starting point (or, stated differently, I couldn't figure it out). Maybe the VisualTreeHelper class?

  • Floating child window in WPF

    - by Dusan Kocurek
I want to create floating child window in .NET 3.0 WPF application. What I'm doing is: sideWindow = new SideWindow(this); sideWindow.Left = System.Windows.Forms.Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Width - sideWindow.Width; sideWindow.Top = 125; sideWindow.WindowStartupLocation = WindowStartupLocation.Manual; sideWindow.Owner = this; sideWindow.Show(); This is running fine except one customer. According to trace messages the window is created, but the client doesn't see it! Any idea about similar problems? Thank you very much.
