    I have a php file that acts as a gatekeeper for all the files I want people to download, who ahve sufficient privilages. What would be a good way to do this, and keep the true locations + filenames secret, so people cant just link to the files directly, but HAVE to link thru my download.php?file=ID gatekeeper? Thanks

    hi, in PHP.INI, I can set the variable "error_log" and it is currently set to "error_log", which manes one file of that name in each directory Do you know ... if I set it to "public_html/error_log" - will I get only one single error log file? Any other way to do so? I really just want a single site-wide error file to check, rather than one on each sub-directory. For bonus marks, can I send myself an email each time a new entry is added to the file? Left as an exercise for the reader - can I ignore some "errors" which aren't really?

    In a batch file I need to extract a month, day, year from the date command. So I used the following, which essentially parses the Date command to extract its sub strings into a variable: set Day=%Date:~3,2% set Mth=%Date:~0,2% set Yr=%Date:~6,4% This is all great, but if I deploy this batch file to a machine with a different regional/country settings, it fails because month, day and year are in different locations. How can I extract month, day and year regardless of the date format?

    I want to create a directory, for example: /public/all But I want it so that if you create a file in all, the owner is root, but anyone with access to the /public/all folder can delete/edit/etc the file, just not change the permissions. (I will use a self-created "setx" application to change the execute value if needed.) Reason for this, I don't want you to be able to deny other users write/read access to files in /public/all. I heard setuid on directories doesn't work for that.

    Using a ruby file (or any rake facility) I need to find out if the user who executes my script is able to execute certain shell commands. In particular g++ etc. Hopefully system independent so if there is some g++.bat, g++.exe or just g++ (etc) it should say yes nevertheless, as long as its on the path and executable on the users system. Example: if the user has a no-extention executable version of the file and a .cmd version of the file it should say "yes" for the no extension version on a linux system and "yes" to the .cmd version on a windows system. Since the users shell can only execute that version of the file. The purpose of this is to allow the script to be self-configuring (as much as possible). Any suggestions on how I might go about doing this?

    Hello all, I am storing the images in database. I get the NSData and create an image from it. Now I want to crop or draw a smaller image of the existing image in database which I am getting from the querry. I dont want to cache the images since I am using them in bulk and want to release them as soon as the view being displayed where the images are used is popped up.   • How to create a file on UESTUDIO FTP window when the folder it's empty?.

    When I'm editing some files ( html, css, js ) on UESTUDIO by FTP I'm able to browser folders, create new files on existing folders, but when I create a new folder and try to create a new file it won't allow me to select the "create new file" choice on the menu. Also, if I uncheck the "Show current directory only" option, then the menu to create folders and files on the current one ( that worked before ) disapears and I'm unable to use it.     Look at your Gmail inbox. You have 3 main columns contains the Sender contains "THE_EMAIL_SUBJECT - THE_EMAIL_BODY" the date the email was sent on I note that when you resize the window, the Gmail web client automatically resizes the displayed text in the second column. It basically just truncates the text so that it always can display the sent on date to the right, and the sender to the left. It is a pretty neat effect, and I would like to have that effect for myself. Does anyone know how to do this in HTML/CSS/JS?

    I have an array which has BIG numbers and small numbers in it. I got it from after running a log from WireShark. It is the total number of Bytes of TCP traffic. There are really BIG numbers and small numbers. (Basically what I am saying is, there is the 1% class and low income class, no middle class). I want to split the array to two different arrays. That would require me to set a threshold. Array 1 should be ONLY the BIG numbers (10924534-10874126), and array 2 should be the smaller numbers (68157-178). Btw, the array is not sorted. User will NOT input the threshold, and hence should be determined smartly.

    I have large database table, approximately 5GB, now I wan to getCurrentSnapshot of Database using "Select * from MyTableName", am using PDO in PHP to interact with Database. So preparing a query and then executing it // Execute the prepared query $result->execute(); $resultCollection = $result->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); is not an efficient way as lots of memory is being user for storing into the associative array data which is approximately, 5GB. My final goal is to collect data returned by Select query into an CSV file and put CSV file at an FTP Location from where Client can get it. Other Option I thought was to do: SELECT * INTO OUTFILE "c:/mydata.csv" FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"' LINES TERMINATED BY "\n" FROM my_table; But I am not sure if this would work as I have cron that initiates the complete process and we do not have an csv file, so basically for this approach, PHP Scripts will have to create an CSV file. Do a Select query on the database. Store the select query result into the CSV file. What would be the best or efficient way to do this kind of task ? Any Suggestions !!!
