• SignalR - Handling disconnected users

  Hy, I'm using the signalR library on a project to handle an notification and chat modules. I've a table on an database to keep a track of online users. The HUB for chat is inheriting IDisconnect where i disconnect the user. After disconnecting the user, i warm the users about that event. At this point, i check if the disconnect user is the client. If it's, then i call an method on HUB to reconnect the user (just update the table). I do this because with the current implementation, once the user closes a tab on the browser it calls the Disconnect task but he could have another tab opened. I've not tested (with larger requests) this module yet, but on my development server it could take a few seconds between the IDisconnect event, and the request from the user to connect again. I'm concerned with my implementation to handle disconnected users from the chat but i can't see another way to improve this. If possible, could someone give me a advice on this, or this is the only solution that i've?

• Javascript : Submitting a form outside the actual form doesn't work

  Hello all, I'm trying to achieve a fairly easy triggering mechanism for deleting multiple items from a tablegrid. If a user has enough access he/she is able to delete multiple users from a table. In the table I have set up checkboxes, one per row/user. The name of the checkboxes is UsersToDeletep[], and the value per row is the unique UserID. When a user clicks the button 'Delete selected users' a simple validation takes place to make sure at least one checkbox is selected. After that I call my simple function Submit(form). The function works perfectly when called within the form-tags, where I also use it to delete a single user. The function: function Submit(form) { document.forms[form].submit(); } I've also alerted document.forms[form]. The result is, as expected [object HTMLFormElement]. But for some reason the form just won't submit and a pagereload takes place. I'm a bit confused and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone point me in the right direction? • How to create database records for a financial year

  Hello, I need to create entities (specifically contracts) in a database table that are associated with a financial year. These contracts will be applied to projects. Any contract variation will be recorded by creating a new contract record for the same financial year but the original will remain associated with the project as a history. The projects can last several years and so at any one time a project will have a live contract record for each year as well as any number of historic contracts for that year. All of which is incidental but I'm trying to provide some context. If the contracts where for the year - it would be easy and I'd just store the Year either as a date field with the 1st of January or just an Integer. However the contracts run for financial years and I don't know how to approach this. I don't want a separate table containing the financial years as I don't want the users to have to maintain this. I don't want to store the financial year as a string "2009/2010" as this is not ideal for sorting/extracting the data. Any ideas will be helpful, my best so far is to have starting and ending year in 2 columns and just "KNOW" that starting is April of the year etc Thanks

• Rolling Back a Transaction with MySQL Connector in VB.net

  Hey all- I have one multi-row INSERT statement (300 or so sets of values) that I would like to commit to the MySQL database in an all-or-nothing fashion. insert into table VALUES (1, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6), (7, 8, 9); In some cases, a set of values in the command will not meet the criteria of the table (duplicate key, for example). When that happens I do not want any of the previous sets added to the database. I've implemented this with the following code, however, my rollback command doesn't appear to be making a difference. • iPhone: Cell imageViews repeating when loaded from url

  I'm developing a demo RSS reader for iPhone. I obviously have a tableview to display the feeds, and then a detailed view. Some of this feeds have a thumbnail that I want to display on cell.imageview of the table, and some don't. The problem is that when scrolling the table, loaded thumbnails start repeating on other cells, and I end up with a thumbnail on every cell. Here's a piece of my code. • SQL Server Compact timed out waiting for a lock

  Hi all, I'm having an application in that i use Sql Compact 3.5 with VS2008. I'm running multiple threads in my application which contacts the compact database and accesses the row. It selects and deletes those rows in a fashion i.e selecting and giving to the application 5 rows and deleting those rows from the table. It works great with a single thread but if i use multiple threads i.e if 3 or more threads are running I get very often the TimeOut Error!!! I have increased the Time out property in the connection string but it didn't give me expected result. The error log is as follow: SQL Server Compact timed out waiting for a lock. The default lock time is 2000ms for devices and 5000ms for desktops. The default lock timeout can be increased in the connection string using the ssce: default lock timeout property. [ Session id = 5,Thread id = 4204,Process id = 4808,Table name = XXX,Conflict type = x lock (s blocks),Resource = TAB ] The Query that I use to retrieve is as follows: " select Top(5) * from TableName order by id; delete from TableName where id in(select top(5) id from TableName order by id); " Is there any way by which we can avoid this Time Out exception??????? The above query I un as a transaction in VS2008 one using SQLCECommand and the other using SqlCEDataAdapter. Any Idea!!!!!! Reply

  I have an HTML table, and each row has a checkbox for selecting or deselecting its row. Whenever a checkbox changes value, I need to add or remove highlighting to the row and also ensure that the page's submit button is only enabled when at least one row is selected and disabled otherwise. However, IE 7 does not handle keyboard interaction well (mouse interaction works fine). The problem is that if a checkbox has the focus and I hit the spacebar, the checkbox doesn't get checked -- instead it gets half checked (it has the same shadowed appearance that it would get immediately after a mousedown). I have to press the spacebar a second time to actually check the box. Similarly, it requires two key presses to uncheck it. Oddly enough, if I hold down the spacebar for a few moments, then a single press works as expected. Can anyone explain what is going on here? Is there something I'm doing wrong in the JavaScript code that is causing this behavior? How can I fix this?

  Hello, I have a SQL table with a whole load of records that look like this: | Date | Score | + -----------+-------+ | 01/01/2010 | 4 | | 02/01/2010 | 6 | | 03/01/2010 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 2 | I'm plotting this on a chart, so I get a nice line across the graph indicating score-over-time. Lovely. Now, what I need to do is include the average score on the chart, so we can see how that changes over time, so I can simply add this to the mix: SELECT YEAR(SCOREDATE) 'Year', MONTH(SCOREDATE) 'Month', MIN(SCORE) MinScore, AVG(SCORE) AverageScore, MAX(SCORE) MaxScore FROM SCORES GROUP BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) ORDER BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) That's no problem so far. The problem is, how can I easily calculate the percentiles at each time-period? I'm not sure that's the correct phrase. What I need in total is: A line on the chart for the score (easy) A line on the chart for the average (easy) A line on the chart showing the band that 95% of the scores occupy (stumped) It's the third one that I don't get. • is there a way to create an item template (t4) installer like the POCO generator?

  Subject says it all. I want to modify the POCO generation adapter (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/EFPocoAdapter) to generate my own code. I have the .tt adapters done, but I want to be able to distribute this to coworkers, so they right-click on the model, choose "Generate Code", and my t4 templates appear in the options along with the other choices. Is there an easy way to do this? I found some articles at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/tsyyf0yh(VS.80).aspx but it was focused on generic templates, and I'm looking for specifically model templates.

• How to Identify a ListViewItem to Update a Single Row

  I have a ListView displays information about an object. When I click a ListView Item, I open an Activity that let's me manipulate parameters of the object held in the adapter. These parameters are updated and stored remotely. When I return to the ListView (via the back button), I want to update the ListView Item that I clicked originally by requesting the parameter values from the remote server. I am currently doing this up updating the entire ListView by clearing it and rebuilding it. How do I reference the ListView Item so that I can update the data for that item only? Thanks, Jason

• Hibernate ManyToMany and superclass mapping problem

  Hi all, I need to create a relation in Hibernate, linking three tables: Survey, User and Group. The Survey can be visible to a User or to a Group, and a Group is form of several Users. My idea was to create a superclass for User and Group, and create a ManyToMany relationship between that superclass and Survey. My problem is that Group, is not map to a table, but to a view, so I can't split the fields of Group among several tables -which would happen if I created a common superclass-. I thought about creating a common interface, but mapping to them is not allowed. I will probably end up going for a two relations solution (Survey-User and Survey-Group), but I don't like too much that approach. I thought as well about creating a table that would look like: Survey Id | ElementId | Type ElementId would be the Group or UserId, and the type... the type of it. Does anyone know how to achieve it using hibernate annotations? Any other ideas? Thanks a lot

In OCL it is easy to list all instances: ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances Also easy to filter rows by select for example: ScaniaEdiSolMessage.allinstances->select(shipFromFinland and not invalidated) But I do not understand how I should make a OCL to match the SQL above.

  I'm writing an XSL file that contains a side-nav menu with a list of links. When the user clicks on one of the links, the page jumps to the corresponding table of information for that link. How can I make it so that when the link is clicked, the title of that table (not the link itself) is highlighted? It should also un-highlight if another link is clicked.   Hello, 1) I've a Product table with 4 columns: ProductID, Name, Category, and Price. Here's the regular linq to query this table. public ActionResult Index() { private ProductDataContext db = new ProductDataContext(); var products = from p in db.Products where p.Category == "Soccer" select new ProductInfo { Name = p.Name, Price = p.Price} return View(products); } Where ProductInfo is just a class that contains 2 properties (Name and Price). The Index page Inherits ViewPage - IEnumerable - ProductInfo. Everything works fine. 2) To dynamicaly execute the above query, I do this: Public ActionResult Index() { var products = db.Products .Where("Category = \"Soccer\"") .Select(/* WHAT SOULD I WRITE HERE TO SELECT NAME & PRICE?*/) return View(products); } I'm using both 'System.Lind.Dynamic' namespace and the DynamicLibrary.cs (downloaded from ScottGu blog). Here are my questions: What expression do I use to select only Name and Price? (Most importantly) How do I retrieve the data in my view? (i.e. What type the ViewPage inherits? ProductInfo?)

  Hello, For the code below, on the second link (http://www...com/sandbox/comments/index.php?submission='.$row["title"].'), I would like to pass $row["submissionid"], on as a GET variable. I tried this and it caused all of the code below to produce a blank result. Is there a way that I can do I want?   Hi, I am testing Paypal's masspay using their 'MassPay NVP example' and I having difficulty trying to amend the code so inputs data from my MySql database. Basically I have user table in MySql which contains email address, status of payment (paid,unpaid) and balance. Also I need it to loop to however many rows that were retrieved from the query as <3 in the for loop above. • Full Text Search in MSSQL2008 shows wrong display_item for Thai language

  I am working with MSSQL2008. My task is to investigate the issue where FTS cannot find the right result for Thai. First, I have the table which enables the FTS on the column 'ItemName' which is nvarchar. The Catalog is created with the Thai Language. Note that the Thai language is one of the languages that doesn't separate the word by spaces, so '????' '???' '????' are written like this in a sentence: '???????????' In the table, there are many rows that include the word (????); for example row#1 (ItemName: '???????????') On the webpage, I try to search for '????' but SQLServer cannot find it. So I try to investigate it by trying the following query in SQLServer: select * from sys.dm_fts_parser(N'"???????????"', 1054, 0, 0) ...to see how the words are broken. The first one is the text to be broken. The second parameter is to specify that we're using Thai (WorkBreaker, so on). Here is the result: row#1 (display_item: '????', source_item: '???????????') row#2 (display_item: '????', source_item: '???????????') row#3 (display_item: '??', source_item: '???????????') Notice that the first and second row display the wrong display_item '?' in the '????' isn't even Thai characters. '?' in '????' is not a Thai character either. So the question is where did those alien characters come from? I guess this why I cannot search for '????' because the word breaker is broken and keeping the wrong character in the indexes. Please help!
