  • Why always fires OnFailure when return View() to Ajax Form ?

    I'm trying to make a log-in log-off with Ajax supported. But if i returned View("PartialName") i always get OnFailure with status code 500. While if i returned Content("My Message") everything is going right. so please tell me why i always get this "StatusCode = 500" ??. where is the big mistake ??.     There have been many question on managing EntityContext lifetime, e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/813457/instantiating-a-context-in-linq-to-entities I've come to the conclusion that the entity context should be considered a unit-of-work and therefore not reused. Great. But while doing some research for speeding up my database access, I ran into this blog post... Improving Entity Framework Performance The post argues that EFs poor performance compared to other frameworks is often due to the EntityConnection object being created each time a new EntityContext object is needed. To test this I manually created a static EntityConnection in Global.asax.cs Application_Start(). I then converted all my context using statements to using( MyObjContext currContext = new MyObjeContext(globalStaticEFConnection) { .... } This seems to have sped things up a bit without any errors so far as far as I can tell. But is this safe? Does using a applicationwide static EntityConnection introduce race conditions? Best regards, Kervin

  • How do I deploy my ASP MVC project to my Win7 system?

    Hi, I am deploying my first ASP MVC project. The project runs just fine, I would like to take the next step and run this outside of my visual studio environment on my local IIS. I am running Windows7, Visual Studio 2008, and I have created a basic ASP MVC project. On my solution, I find the project I would like to deploy. I right click and select Publish. I have backed up C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ and would like to deploy there. I accept all defaults, and click the "Publish" button. The Output Build window shows 1 project failed. Basically is says that it is unable to add any of the binaries to the site, copy files, create new directories... Access is denied. When I do click "Publish" at work, I don't get these errors. What do I have to do here to publish the website to make the website available to the rest of my home network? Also wwwroot appears to be readonly, but telling the folder to not be read only doesn't seem to help, it still appears to be readonly even after I've unselected this property in the property dialog.

I know how to load the controls in the update panel, but I can't figure out how to get the user control to trigger the update panel. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

The Title field in the Customer object has a value, so the data is being passed around, but not being validated? Any clues?

  • Recording object method calls to generate automated test.

    I have an object with large interface and I would like to record all its method calls done during a user session. Ideally this sequence of calls would be available as source code: myobj.MethodA(42); myobj.MethodB("spam", false); ... I would then convert this code to a test case to have a kind of automated smoke/load test. WCF Load Test can do this for WCF services and CodedUI test recorder can do this for UIs. What are my options for a POCO class? I am in position to edit application code and replace the object in question with some recording/forwarding proxy.

  • Is the order of params important in NHibernate?

    If I have an int parameter followed by a string parameter in a sproc I get the following error: Input string was not in the correct format However, if I switch those parameters in the sproc than I get the result set I expect. Are params sorted by data type, or do I have to do anything special in my config file?   • Multiple Concurrent Postbacks when using UpdatePanels

    Here's an example app that I built to demonstrate my problem. A single aspx page with the following on it: <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager runat="server" /> <asp:Button runat="server" ID="btnGo" Text="Go" OnClick="btnGo_Click" /> <asp:UpdatePanel runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtVal1" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </form> Then, in code behind, we have the following: protected void btnGo_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Thread.Sleep(5000); Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("{0}: {1}", DateTime.Now.ToString("HH:MM:ss.fffffff"), txtVal1.Text)); txtVal1.Text = ""; } If you run this and click on the "Go" button multiple times you will see multiple debug statements on the "Output" window showing that multiple requests have been processed. This appears to contradict the documented behaviour of update panels (i.e. If you make a request while one is processing, the first requests gets terminated and the current one is processed). Anyway, the point is I want to fix it. The obvious option would be to use Javascript to disable the button after the first press, but that strikes me as hard to maintain, we potentially have the same issue on a lot of screens it could be easily broken if someone renames a button. Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps there is something I could do in BeginRequest in Global.asax to detect a duplicate request? Is there some setting or feature on the UpdatePanel to stop it doing this, or maybe something in the AjaxControlToolkit that will prevent it?

    Hi, I am trying to write a custom theme for orchard and am not having much success so far. I have read Bertrand Le Roy's article on part alternates but I can't seem to get it to work. I am displaying a list of recent blog posts on the front page, pretty standard. I wish to change the markup produced by the meta data part i.e the time format. I have written a IShapeTableProvider to create blog specific alternates for the metadata summary part. public class MetaDataShapeProvider : IShapeTableProvider { private readonly IWorkContextAccessor workContextAccessor; public MetaDataShapeProvider(IWorkContextAccessor workContextAccessor) { this.workContextAccessor = workContextAccessor; } public void Discover(ShapeTableBuilder builder) { builder .Describe("Parts_Common_Metadata_Summary") .OnDisplaying(displaying => { ContentItem contentItem = displaying.Shape.ContentItem; if (contentItem != null) displaying.ShapeMetadata.Alternates.Add("Metadata__" + contentItem.ContentType); }); } } This is being caught correctly but the contentItem is null. Should I just create an alternate with a fixed name like "Metadata-BlogPost" and use that, to make this general purpose it should really be a dynamic name so I can use another alternate template elsewhere.     I got the Rescue attribute working. It properly serves up the DefaultError view when there is an unhandled exception. However, these exceptions will not get logged or emailed. This SO question is answered by Atif Aziz and it looks pretty solid, but it applies to the built-in HandleErrorAttribute, which Rescue replaces, right? How do I get that to work with Rescue? I want to make sure that if an unhandled exception arises, that the user gets served up the view specified with the Rescue attribute, but the exception is still properly logged, and viewable with elmah.axd.

I can display the initial image, which is already in the folder, and I can also detect when a new image is saved into the folder but I don't know how to display the new images.
