  Everybody who used P/Invoke of Windows API knows a long list of declarations of static functions with attributes like [DllImport ("kernel32.dll", SetLastError = true, CharSet = CharSet.Auto)] The declaration of structures copied from Windows headers like WinNT.h or from web sites like www.pinvoke.net take also a lot of place in our programs. Why we all have to spend our time for this? Why Microsoft not give us a simple way to include a line like in old unmanaged programs #include <windows.h> and we would be have access to a static class Native with all or the most Windows functions and structures inside?

• Is git svn rebase required before git svn dcommit?

  I'm reading about using git as an svn client here: http://learn.github.com/p/git-svn.html That page suggests that you do git svn rebase before git svn dcommit, which makes perfect sense; it's like doing svn update before doing svn commit. Then, I started looking at the documentation for git svn dcommit (I was wondering what the 'd' is about): http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/git-svn.html You have to scroll down a bit to see the documentation on dcommit, which says this: Commit each diff from a specified head directly to the SVN repository, and then rebase or reset (depending on whether or not there is a diff between SVN and head). This confuses me, because if you do as the first page says, there will be no changes to pull down from svn once the first part of dcommit finishes. I'm also confused by the part that talks about reset; isn't git reset for removing changes from the staging area? Why would rebase or reset follow (the first part of) a dcommit?

• Facebook insights for websites does not match on-site Facebook button counts

  I use Facebook Insights for websites and Facebook buttons on my site. However, the data reported by the two do not match. It always seems to be the case that the count reported by the buttons is significantly higher than the count reported in Facebook Insights. For example, this page http://www.appmyworld.com/blog/top-5-iphone-and-ipad-apps-of-the-week-10412.html has a count of 52 for Facebook which is made up of 19 likes, 21 shares and 12 comments according to AddThis and confirmed by http://sharedcount.com However, going into Facebook Insights for my website and looking at that specific page it shows only 4 total actions which is made up of 1 like and 3 shares. At the very least I would expect it to show a total count of 40 made up of 19 likes and 21 shares (I'm not sure it would track the 12 comments). Any thoughts on why this may be happening? My concern is if our website is not getting credit for the Facebook activity?

• Bound a treeview control to user-defined complex type using EF 4

  Hi, I use Asp.net, SQL 2008 and EF 4. I need display hierarchy data in a treeview control, Data is stored in a DB that use HierarchyId. Unfortunately, EF4 doesn't support HierarchyId. So in this case, I thought to have a stored procedure that deals with my hierarchy and return a result set back to EF that EF4 can turn into a collection of user-defined complex type that can then be bound directly to the treeview control. I imported a SPROC in EF 4 using Import Function and now I have a Complex DataType called: CategoryHierarchy_Result An image of my Model: Here some data from the Complex Type (in a GridView for example GridView1.DataSource = context.CategoryHierarchy(1);): My questions is: How to display my data from my Complex Type in a TreeView Control, showing a Tree structure that respect CategoryNodeString? • Using an image as a border

  I am working on an custom container and I need a border for this container. I have a 15x15 image that I am creating a 9-slice border skin with. The issue that I am having is that the border skin does not appear the way that I had hoped it would. Here is a ss of the skin in place. Ideally I should have a transparent box with a 5 pixel border around it. • How to get the LAN IP of a client using Java?

  How can i get the LAN IP-address of a computer using Java? I want the IP-address which is connected to the router and the rest of the network. I've tried something like this: Socket s = new Socket("www.google.com", 80); String ip = s.getLocalAddress().getHostAddress(); s.close(); This seem to work on some cases, but sometimes it returns the loopback-address or something completely different. Also, it requires internet connection. Does anyone got a more accurate method of doing this?

• Algorithm for non-contiguous netmask match

  Hi, I have to write a really really fast algorithm to match an IP address to a list of groups, where each group is defined using a notation like 192.168.0.0/252.255.0.255. As you can see, the bitmask can contain zeros even in the middle, so the traditional "longest prefix match" algorithms won't work. If an IP matches two groups, it will be assigned to the group containing most 1's in the netmask. I'm not working with many entries (let's say < 1000) and I don't want to use a data structure requiring a large memory footprint (let's say 1-2 MB), but it really has to be fast (of course I can't afford a linear search). Do you have any suggestion? Thanks guys. UPDATE: I found something quite interesting at http://www.cse.usf.edu/~ligatti/papers/grouper-conf.pdf, but it's still too memory-hungry for my utopic use case

• Problem with dictionary key in Python

  Hi all, For some project I have to make a dictionary in which the keys are urls,among which I have this url: http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll prd=windows&sbp=mediaplayer&ar=Media&sba=Guide&pver=6.2 the url is too long to fit in here I guess in one single line. there is a space between .dll and prd. I can build a dictionary without any errors this url is also a key. but for some reason when I want to extract the values associated to this key(url). I cannot, I get and error "error key:...." Does someone know what is wrong with this url? Are dictionary keys sensitive to some stuff? thanks

  Hi! I have a aspx file that suppose to write to a file in the server while loading. On the local machine it works fine, but when i deploy it to a live server it gives me an exception "Access to the path 'd:\DZHosts\LocalUser\asafz83\www.asafz83.somee.com\lala.htm' is denied." WHen i asked my serverAdmin for the reason - he told me to remove any impersonation from my web.config file. Well, my web.config file doesn't contain any impersonation, so i'm really confused: What can i do in order for this sealy-stupid application to work? thanks!

  Based on the properties of the keydown event I would like to ascertain what the current charCode are? Example. For the keydown event when the NumPad0, D0, and Colon key is pressed I would like to know what the associated charcode is. Currently I have a map that contains the charcode associated with that keyCode or use the current if charCode is not specified. keyCode = { Colon: 186, D0: 48, NumPad0: 96, }; charCodes = { 186: 59, 96: 48, }; shiftCharCodes = { 186: 58, 48: 41 }; Also in certain cases the keyCodes are different accross browsers? • Trouble Avoiding Microsoft Outlook's Email Warning

  I have a set of records in Microsoft Access that I am trying to send in an Email. The email feature works great. Except a warning message pops up every time a message is ready to send, and the user has to click "Allow" or "Deny" for every email sent. My problem is that when I put my message in the function it always returns false, and the message fails. Any help would be appreciated. • Getting Different IP each time

  Hello, I am creating a poll script for a facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=115400635147687&v=app_115400635147687 I am getting the IP using: $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] But the problem is that each time I refresh the page, or make an ajax call, the IP is changed everytime. Someone told me that facebook has many IPs, proxies. Basically I need to save the IP in database, so that once a user from certain IP has voted, he should not be able to do so again. What is the solution or alternative to this?

• Strange error: cannot convert from 'int' to 'ios_base::openmode'

  I am using g++ to compile some code. Error 1: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘std::_Ios_Openmode’ Error 2: initializing argument 2 of ‘std::basic_filebuf<_CharT, _Traits* std::basic_filebuf<_CharT, _Traits::open(const char*, std::_Ios_Openmode) [with _CharT = char, _Traits = std::char_traits]’ As far as I could tell from a Google search, g++ is actually breaking the C++ standard here. Which I find quite astonishing, since they generally conform very strictly to the standard. Is this the case? Or am I doing something wrong. Does there algorithm take into account the search popularity of a query (using google-trends data or something)?
