• JSON Feed Appears to be XHR when it should be JS

  I don't get why it'd doing this with the 2nd feed (appearing as a XHR call rather than just JS [looking at it in Firefox/Firebug]). The 2nd feed has the exact same MIME type as Flickr's JSON feed, yet the PortlandOregon.gov one shows as XHR and i get a NULL callback when using $.getJSON and if i use $.ajax with a 'json' or 'jsonp' type i get nothing at all. If i do the Flickr one i get the normal "[object Object]" callback. Whats going on? Please help! This has been such a headache for about a week. And i have authorization to change the feed, but i have to request the change, so if anyone knows for absolute sure let me know that! • pylons on production server fedora 8

  I'm interested in learning some python, and thought Pylons would be a good starting point (after spending 2 days trying to get django working -- to no avail). I have an Amazon EC2 instance with Fedora 8 on it. It is a bare-bones install. I am halfway through my second day of trying to get it to work. I have mod_wsgi installed. I have Apache (though that's a later task to tackle). I have easy_install, paster is working fine; basically all of the pre-requisites mentioned throughout the Pylons docs. I can't for the life of me get the thing to work. And I can't seem to find a coherent walkthough anywhere that lists all the steps necessary. There is tons of info out there, but it is all scattered. Wsgi this, python that. Google, google, google... "47 million results found for 'socket.error:(lol, 'Yous a goofs')". So, this is my latest attempt: apachectl -k stop cd /home/ paster create -t pylons test [blah blah.. ok] cd test nano development.ini [hmm, last time I changed the host from 127.0.0.1 to my domain name or url, it threw an error like socket.error: (99, 'Cannot assign requested address')... I'll just leave it] [open port 5000 on firewall] paster serve development.ini [firefox-url:5000] Firefox can't establish a connection to the server Doing these steps locally works as expected. This is just a test to see if I can get it to work at all, which I can't. If I get it to work, then is the task of getting it to work with apache. My madness is that I'd like to play around a little developing and deploying before diving into a full-fledged project. So far: self, I am dissapoint.

• Powershell mapped network drive doesn't persist

  I'm trying to create a script that maps a network drive whenever I connect to a VPN, then disconnects the drive when I disconnect from the VPN, using Task Scheduler to launch the script when the event is created. It launches the script, which creates the drive, but when Powershell closes, it disconnects the drive, so it only stays open for a few seconds, then closes it again. • Using Facebook Graph to simply post a wall message with just javascript

  Hey guys, Now I know this question has been asked similarly a lot of times but I'm really struggling here. Its a simple thing I need to do: I would like to post a message onto a users wall saying "I scored 8/10 on objects game" then a URL Thats it. I don't mind if facebook needs to authenticate and then post the message. and I really don't want to have to use the full API - as I don't want to handle user login details. • Whats up with cross site Scripting (getJSON) and flickr example

  In past i had read the documentation about getJSON and there is an example with a flickr photo api. (the example with the [pussy]cats :-)). No I ask myself why is it possible, to access flickr directly with this example. Ive tried this by store this code on my local machine - it works but if I use a local copy of jquery i just get an error in firebug like this $ is not defined myurl/test.html Line 11 Does anybody of you have a solution for this paradox thing? • Inherit a parent class docstring as __doc__ attribute

  There is a question about Inherit docstrings in Python class inheritance, but the answers there deal with method docstrings. My question is how to inherit a docstring of a parent class as the __doc__ attribute. The usecase is that Django rest framework generates nice documentation in the html version of your API based on your view classes' docstrings. But when inheriting a base class (with a docstring) in a class without a docstring, the API doesn't show the docstring. • w3wp.exe in ASP.NET production app is using 100% CPU. How to find the problem ?

  Hi, we have an asp.net app in production where w3wp.exe is taking 100% CPU ( 4 cores - 4 threads at 25% ) and cpu load never goes down until we recycle the application pool ( the app is alone in the application pool ). Our error log has nothing, there is no exceptions being emitted ( or at least we don't catch them ) so we suspect it's code problem ( infinite loop / deadlock ). The problem only arises after some hours running with high load ( several thousand users ). There is any way to profile one of the EXISTING threads that is causing cpu load ? After taking a look to JetBrains's DotTrace Profiler seems like it's not possible for limitations of Profiling API and man, we haven't get to reproduce the problem in our testing environment. The app uses SQL Server 2005, LINQ2SQL and System.Transactions API. Any suggestion to find the problem ?

• [Ruby] Why do I have to URI.encode even safe characters for Net::HTTP requests?

  I was trying to send a GET request to Twitter (user ID replaced for privacy reasons) using Net::HTTP: url = URI.parse("http://api.twitter.com/1/friends/ids.json?user_id=12345") resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(url) this throws an exception in Net::HTTP: NoMethodError: undefined method empty?' for #<URI::HTTP:0x59f5c04> from /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:1470:ininitialize' just by coincidence, I stumbled upon a similar code snippet, which used URI.encode prior to URI.parse, so I copied that and tried again: url = URI.parse(URI.encode("http://api.twitter.com/1/friends/ids.json?user_id=12345")) resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(url) now it works fine, but why? There are no reserved characters that need escaping in the URL I mentioned, so why do I have to call URI.encode for get_response to succeed?

But now I need to remove it from the file system to experiment with something... So, to remove them I am trying following option from Eclipse plugin : Project -> Blackberry -> clean simulator But once I open this option, it's showing me as disable and giving me some alert like "Please select clean option". • How would you audit ASP.NET Membership tables, while recording what user made the changes?

  Using a trigger-based approach to audit logging, I am recording the history of changes made to tables in the database. The approach I'm using (with a static sql server login) to record which user made the change involves running a stored procedure at the outset of each database connection. The triggers use this username when recording the audit rows. (The triggers are provided by the product OmniAudit.) However, the ASP.NET Membership tables are accessed primarily through the Membership API. I need to pass in the current user's identity when the Membership API opens its database connection. I tried subclassing MembershipProvider but I cannot access the underlying database connection. It seems like this would be a common problem. Does anyone know of any hooks we can access when the ASP.NET Membership makes its database connection?

  In my web application I need to use Saxon TransformerFactory to use XSLT 2.0 but I can't use setProperty method because I haven't this right on the web server and there is a Security Manager. So i have read that it's possible to do this: Use the Services API (as detailed in the JAR specification), if available, to determine the classname. The Services API will look for a classname in the file META-INF/services/javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory in jars available to the runtime. I found this file in WEB-INF/lib/saxon9.jar but when I istantiate a TransformerFactory is always selected default factory and not saxon factory. How can I select Saxon Transformer Factory? Thanks

  Hi, I'm working with django-piston to attempt to create an API that supports oAuth. I started out using the tutorial at: http://blog.carduner.net/2010/01/26/django-piston-and-oauth/ I added a consumer to piston's admin interface with key and secret both set to "abcd" for test purposes. The urls are successfully wired-up and the oAuth provider is called. However, running my get request token tests with tripit (python get_request_token.py "http://127.0.0.1:8000/api" abcd abcd), I receive the following error: Invalid signature. Expected signature base string: GET&http%3A%2F%2F127.0.0.1%3A8000%2Fapi%2Foauth%2Frequest_token%2F&oauth_consumer_key%3Dabcd%26oauth_nonce%3D0c0bdded5b1afb8eddf94f7ccc672658%26oauth_signature_method%3DHMAC-SHA1%26oauth_timestamp%3D1275135410%26oauth_version%3D1.0 The problem seems to lie inside the _check_signature method of Piston's oauth.py, where valid_sig = signature_method.check_signature(oauth_request, consumer, token, signature) is returning false. I can't, however, work out how to get the signature validated. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to use the EWS API to access an Exchange server from a console program i'm writing. I've specified the type of exchange server i'm connecting to but when I try to execute the code i have, it gives me Error 1 The type 'System.TimeZoneInfo' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced.   It is well known that it is possible to configure a DNS server to do a "catch-all" resolving on a single subdomain level, such as *.example.com. IN A x.x.x.x, so that anything.example.com maps to a single IP/CNAME. However, I need to set up an at least "level-2" wildcard sub-subdomain catch-all wildcard system so that any.thing.example.com or better, item.of.any.level.under.example.com will be resolved to a single IP. Has anyone got this working?

  I'm trying to use file_get_contentsO() to get the response from a server and this error was encountered. Could someone tell me what is the reason and how to fix it? The portion of the code is: $api = "http://smpp5.routesms.com:8080/bulksms/sendsms?username=$username&password=$password&source=$source&destination=$destin&dlr=$dlr&type=$type&message=$message"; $resp = file_get_contents($api); The server responded correctly while I pasted the url in the browser. • How to handle HTTPStatus Response 201 with AS3 / Flash / SWFUpload

  Hey all. I'm using SWFUpload on a Rails site to allow for MP3 Uploads direct to Sound Cloud. To avoid having to first upload a large file to my server and push to Sound Cloud, I'm hitting their API directly via SWFUpload, passing necessary OAuth token data. Everything works - EXCEPT - Flash can't handle the HTTP response code that Sound Cloud's API returns (201). This ALWAYS triggers an unhandled IO Error with Flash. Even though SWFUpload allows me to override that in the JS, it breaks any response data (the URI to the uploaded file). Does anyone know how I could somehow intercept the 201 code so that I can make it a 200 code for flash? I'm at a loss at how I can avoid this IO Error. I've tried try/catch statements around everything and have even recompiled SWFUpload to try new things to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Anyone had success installing and using PySide on OSX? I am following the install instructions on the PySide site, though I'm running into issues building the API Extractor. I run cmake on the CMakeLists.txt file inside the api extractor dir and: This error is thrown- CMake Error at /Applications/CMake 2.8-0.app/Contents/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindBoost.cmake:894 (message): Unable to find the requested Boost libraries. Unable to find the Boost header files. Please set BOOST_ROOT to the root directory containing Boost or BOOST_INCLUDEDIR to the directory containing Boost's headers. • Compiling zip component for PHP 5.2.11 in MAMP PRO

  Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error: [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can some body explain to me how to do this the right way.

Usually you want to use the same event handler for all download items, so it's a bit annoying to have to set the event handlers over and over again for each DownloadItem. • How do I cancel the link action?

  I though returning false would be enough to cancel the link action, but apparently it isn't. When I click the link in the code below I do get the 'click' message, which is expected. • Supporting different locale regions using Rails i18n

  I'm using the standard Rails I18n API to localise some of our views. This is working really well, but we now have a few use cases for regional changes to the en locale. The API guide mentions that this isn't supported directly, and other plugins should be used. However, I'm wondering whether there's a simpler way to do this. I already have en.yml, so in theory I could just create en-AU.yml and en-US.yml which are effectively clones of en.yml but with a few regional changes applied. I could then add additional English - American and English - Australian options to our configuration which would map to the new region-specific locales and allow users to use a region-specific locale. The only problem I can think of with this is that it isn't DRY -- I would have duplicate translations for all common English words. I can't see a way around this. Are there any other disadvantages to this approach, or should I just bite the bullet and dive into one of the plug-ins such as Globalize2 instead?

• Cross-Page communication in firefox extension

  I have two tabs that my extension uses and I wanted to pass events back and forth between them. I've already developed a Google Chrome extension that does this via the background page api, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in firefox. I thought message-manager in the firefox extension docs would do the trick, but the documentation on the object is quite poor. I'd be just as happy with using one of the tabs to control the other if I can't directly import the ideas of a background page from google chrome api. Any help/guidance would be great.
