• [struts 2] How do you iterate through a list of objects?

  I have a User class that has a String username in it. I have a list of users that I'm trying to display in a table using <s:iterator value="users" id="list"> <tr> <td><s:property value="#list.username" /></td> <td></td> <td></td> <td></td> </tr> </s:iterator> The rows are being displayed the right number of times, so it's iterating through my list properly. However, I don't know how to access the username property to display it. Obviously what I have above isn't correct... Any ideas?

• [Ruby] How can I randomly iterate through a large Range?

  I would like to randomly iterate through a range. Each value will be visited only once and all values will eventually be visited. For example: (0..9).sort_by{rand}.map{|x| f(x)} where f(x) is some function that operates on each value. A Fisher-Yates shuffle could be used to increase efficiency, but this code is sufficient for many purposes. My problem is that sort_by will transform the range into an array, which is not cool because I am working with astronomically large numbers. Ruby will quickly consume a large amount of RAM trying to create a monstrous array. This is also why the following code will not work: tried = {} # store previous attempts bigint = 99**99 bigint.times { x = rand(bigint) redo if tried[x] tried[x] = true f(x) # some function } This code is very naive and quickly runs out of memory as tried obtains more entries. What sort of algorithm can accomplish what I am trying to do?

(note: for those who work with JBPM might already familiar with following data structures and HB mapping) Class LongInstance extends from VariableInstance, with the mapping for field "value" overridden in LongInstance. The mapping for VariableInstance is here and for LongInstance here. VariableInstance is polymorphically mapped to a collection in TokenVariableMap, the mapping is here. The question: how can I query the polymorphic collection using specific/overridden property of the member class? • HTML/Javascript Strange behavior with input field and TABBING

  I have a strange error where if a user enters in data, say first name and then tabs, the text in the field is highlighted/selected as opposed to moving to the next. So, a person may type the first name and then tab to the next input item, text is selected and then they hit a character and now the name they typed in is deleted. If I use the default [input] tags, the tab works properly. But in the code below, with keyup, that may change the tabbing behavior. How can I get my code where it won't select the text.   I have a MySQL table containing data on product features: feature_id feature_product_id feature_finder_id feature_text feature_status_yn 1 1 1 Webcam y 2 1 1 Speakers y 3 1 1 Bluray n I want to write a MySQL query that allows me to search for all products that have a 'y' feature_status_yn value for a given feature_product_id and return the feature_product_id. The aim is to use this as a search tool to allow me to filter results to product IDs only matching the requested feature set. A query of SELECT feature_id FROM product_features WHERE feature_finder_id = '1' AND feature_status_yn = 'y' will return all of the features of a given product. But how can I select all products (feature_product_id) that have a 'y' value when they are on separate lines? Multiple queries might be one way to do it, but I'm wondering whether there's a more elegant solution based purely in SQL.

  Hey, Is it possible that the same name used can have many different values stored separately and to be shown in a list? e.g. function save() { var inputfield = document.getElementById('field').innerHTML; localStorage['justified'] = inputfield; } <input type="text" id="field" onclick="save();" /> Everytime someone enters something in the input field, and click on save, the localstorage will only save the value in the same name, however, does this conflict the way storage are saved, like being replaced with the latest input value?   I'm using xpath 1.0 to parse an html file and I want to get a string sequence from a node-set. First I select a node-set (eg: //div) and then I want the string-value of each node of the set. I've tried with string(//div) but it only returns the string-value of the first node in the set. Example <foo> <div> bbbb<p>aaa</p> </div> <div> cccc<p>aaa</p> </div> </foo> I expect a result like ('bbbbaaa', 'ccccaaa') but I only get 'bbbaaa'

  I'm currently using jQuery to restrict a text box to number only input as follows: $('input.numbersOnly').keyup(function () { this.value = this.value.replace(/[^0-9\.]/g,''); }); I'd like to let the user know that what they are typing is being rejected by changing the background color of the field. I know that I can change the background of a field using something like this: $('input.numbersOnly').addClass('alertClass'); My question is, how do I combine the two code examples above so that the color of the field changes as the character is getting replaced? My goal is to alert the user that something is wrong with their input as they type it in the field. Thanks!

  I'm working to create a simple Python script that will ultimately tell you how many blog entries were posted in a given month, and the pyblog app is proving very helpful. However, when I create the blog object, I don't know how to access it's various attributes. • How to properly reserve identity values for usage in a database?

  We have some code in which we need to maintain our own identity (PK) column in SQL. We have a table in which we bulk insert data, but we add data to related tables before the bulk insert is done, thus we can not use an IDENTITY column and find out the value up front. The current code is selecting the MAX value of the field and incrementing it by 1. Although there is a highly unlikely chance that two instances of our application will be running at the same time, it is still not thread-safe (not to mention that it goes to the database everytime). I am using the ADO.net entity model. How would I go about 'reserving' a range of id's to use, and when that range runs out, grab a new block to use, and guarantee that the same range will not be used.

Not sure what is the most performant way of doing it, but I am trying to see how the multi value mysql inserts do using hibernate.
