• ListView getting deleted onbackpress

  I have a listview in my mainactivity that makes a call to a database to populate it. When an item on the listview is clicked it starts a new activity showing the details of the item that was clicked. When the back button is pressed the listview is not displayed again. What could be the problem? • Rails exit controller after rendering

  I have an action in my controller that I am having trouble with. This is my first rails app, so I'm not sure of the best practices surrounding rails. I have a model called Group and a few actions that go in it's controller. I have written a test that should cause the controller to render an error in JSON because of an invalid Group ID. Instead of rendering and exiting, it looks like the controller is rendering and continuing to execute. Test test 'should not remove group because of invalid group id' do post(:remove, {'group_id' => '3333'}) response = JSON.parse(@response.body) assert_response :success assert_equal 'Success', response['message'] end Controller action # Post remove # group_id def remove if((@group = Group.find_by_id(params[:group_id])) == nil) render :json => { :message => "group_id not found" } end @group.destroy if(!Group.exists?(@group)) render :json => { :message => "Success" } else render :json => { :errors => @group.errors.full_messages } end end In the controller, the first if statement executes: render :json => { :message => "group_id not found" } but @group.destroy is still being executed. This seems counter-intuitive to me, I would think that the render method should exit the controller. Why is the controller not exiting after render is called? The purpose of this block of code is to recover gracefully when no record can be found with the passed in ID. Is this the correct way of doing something like this?

  Hello, I have stored procedure in which I am trying to retrieve the last ticket completed by each user listed in a comma-delimited string of usernames. The user may not have a ticket associated with them, in this case I know that i just need to return null. The two tables that I am working with are defined as follows: User ---- UserName, FirstName, LastName Ticket ------ ID, CompletionDateTime, AssignedTo, AssignmentDate, StatusID TicketStatus ------------ ID, Comments I have created a stored procedure in which I am trying to return the last completed ticket for a comma-delimited list of usernames. Each record needs to include the comments associated with it. Currently, I'm trying the following: CREATE TABLE #Tickets ( [UserName] nvarchar(256), [FirstName] nvarchar(256), [LastName] nvarchar(256), [TicketID] int, [DateCompleted] datetime, [Comments] text ) -- This variable is actually passed into the procedure DECLARE @userList NVARCHAR(max) SET @userList='user1,user2,user2' -- Obtain the user information for each user INSERT INTO #Tickets ( [UserName], [FirstName], [LastName] ) SELECT u.[UserName], u.[FirstName], u.[LastName] FROM User u INNER JOIN dbo.ConvertCsvToTable(@userList) l ON u.UserName=l.item At this point, I have the username, first and last name for each user passed in. However, I do not know how to actually get the last ticket completed for each of these users. How do I do this? I believe I should be updating the temp table I have created. At the same time, id do not know how to get just the last record in an update statement. Thank you!

I got this far. I believe this variable finds all the questions in the database by the question_id (foreign key): @findanswers = Answer.all(params[:question_id]) And this one grabs the the id of the current question (this code will reside as an ERB on the page where the current question is located): @questionshow = Question.find(params[:id]) And now I'm stuck. How do I put the two together so that I list all the answers with the current question id?

• Intelligently removing excess indention from a string

  I'm trying to remove some excessive indention from a string, in this case it's SQL, so it can be put into a log file. So I need the find the smallest amount of indention (aka tabs) and remove it from the front of each line, but the following code ends up printing out exactly the same, any ideas?   I'm really struggling with hibernate sessions, I never have the result I expect when making a query on a modified session object. I think all my problems are related. My confusion is in how to set up the join (presumably that's what I'm looking for here) given that I want both the date and locationID to be the same for each row in the result set. • How can I set/store cookie when anchor clicked

  I am trying to use Cookie so that a default style OR a specific style is applied in reference to the anchor tag clicked, even when the browser is closed/reopen. So if the user clicked the second link, close or refresh the browser and reopen, than the style should still be active, if it is their first time the default should apply. • Using a single texture image unit with multiple sampler uniforms

  I am writing a batching system which tracks currently bound textures in order to avoid unnecessary glBindTexture() calls. I'm not sure if I need to keep track of which textures have already been used by a particular batch so that if a texture is used twice, it will be bound to a different TIU for the second sampler which requires it. Is it acceptable for an OpenGL application to use the same texture image unit for multiple samplers within the same shader stage? What about samplers in different shader stages? For example: Fragment shader: ... uniform sampler2D samp1; uniform sampler2D samp2; void main() { ... } Main program: ... glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE0); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, tex_id); glUniform1i(samp1_location, 0); glUniform1i(samp2_location, 0); ... I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work, but what about if the shader program also included a vertex shader like this: Vertex shader: ... uniform sampler2D samp1; void main() { ... } In this case, OpenGL is supposed to treat both instances of samp1 as the same variable, and exposes a single location for them. Therefore, the same texture unit is being used in the vertex and fragment shaders. I have read that using the same texture in two different shader stages counts doubly against GL_MAX_COMBINED_TEXTURE_IMAGE_UNITS but this would seem to contradict that. In a quick test on my hardware (HD 6870), all of the following scenarios worked as expected: 1 TIU used for 2 sampler uniforms in same shader stage 1 TIU used for 1 sampler uniform which is used in 2 shader stages 1 TIU used for 2 sampler uniforms, each occurring in a different stage. However, I don't know if this is behavior that I should expect on all hardware/drivers, or if there are performance implications.

  Here's a simplification of my code that I'm having problems with, in regards to layering. <ul id="main_menu"> <li>Option 1 <ul id="submenu1"> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> </ul> </li> <li>Option 2 <ul id="submenu2"> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> </ul> </li> </ul> My issue is that submenu2 seems to be above Option 1. I have tried to give them appropriate z-indexes, but they don't seem to work... I'm assuming because submenu2 is a child of Option 2, and has no relevance to Option 1. Any idea of any work around that would help resolve my issue? I'm using large graphics for most of these links, so the overlapping is quite obvious.

• Parse error after upgrading to PHP 5.3

  I have a php code that works well in PHP 5.2 but throwing "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}'" after upgrading to PHP 5.3. When I use echo/print or heredocs to print all the HTML part of the code, the error is gone. My question is, why this error occurred? Is this mean that in PHP 5.3 we are no longer allowed to put HTML code inside PHP code? • Why doesn't my <div> float around another floated <div> while other elements do?

  I have a container with background color green. Inside that green <div>, I have a <div> which is black and styled as a box (50px x 50px) - this <div> is floated to the left. Now if I add a <p> to my markup after the grey <div>, I'd expect it to float around the grey <div>. And it does. However, when I substitue with another <div> which is styled as box (set height and width), it doesn't float around anymore, but disappears behind the floating div. Even if I have first paragraphs which are floating around correctly and THEN I add the div (box), the paragraphs stop floating around and appear on another line. • Changing the value of a variable

  I'm trying to build a simple scoring app but I'm running into a problem trying to keep it so I don't have to repeat a bunch of code to deal with each 'base' individually. The basic idea is that when I click a button the script will; 1) grab the ID of said button 2) split the ID into two parts - (a) the bases name and (b) the button type (plus/minus) 3) if it's plus - add to the bases score, if it's minus - subtract from the bases score 4) update the assigned div with the new value The part I'm stuck at is adding and subtracting. I can't seem to get this to work. • Deserializing child elements as attributes of parent

  I have XML files which I need to deserialize. I used the XSD tool from Visual Studio to create c# object files. the generated classes do deserialize the files except not in the way which I need. I would appreciate any help figuring out how to solve this problem. The child elements named 'data' should be attributes of the parent element 'task'. A shortened example of the XML is below: <task type="Nothing" id="2" taskOnFail="false" > <data value="" name="prerequisiteTasks" /> <data value="" name="exclusionTasks" /> <data value="" name="allowRepeats" /> <task type="Wait for Tasks" id="10" taskOnFail="false" > <data value="" name="prerequisiteTasks" /> <data value="" name="exclusionTasks" /> <data value="" name="allowRepeats" /> </task> <task type="Wait for Tasks" id="10" taskOnFail="false" > <data value="" name="prerequisiteTasks" /> <data value="" name="exclusionTasks" /> <data value="" name="allowRepeats" /> </task> </task> The Class definition I am trying to deserialize to is in the form: public class task { public string prerequisiteTasks {get;set;} public string exclusionTasks {get;set;} public string allowRepeats {get;set;} [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("task")] public List<task> ChildTasks {get;set;} } The child 'task's are fine, but the generated files put the 'data' elements into an array of data[] rather than as named members of the task class as I need.
