  • Make multiple lightboxes (facebox) execute one after each other.

    - by Jigs
    I have a php application that sometimes creates two lightboxes on the same page - the result is the last one to be called is the only one shown. How might I ensure that they show one after anohter? I call a facebox at the bottom of the page like so: jQuery.facebox('blah'); Currently multiple facebox's are called like so: jQuery.facebox('blah');jQuery.facebox('blah2'); But only blah2 will ever show. I need to wait for 'blah' to close before calling 'blah2'...

  • How to get attributes values separately for each container present on the webpage in jquery ?

    - by Rachel
    This question is in continuation to How to get attributes of container in jquer, I have different containers on my webpage and all of them have <div id = "some values"> now how can I get attributes values separately for each component ? Is there any way I can know which attribute id belong to which container div ? Currently I am using : var id = $( '.promotion' ).attr( 'id' ); But if I have multiple promotional components on page and all have same div attribute as id than how can I relate that this particular attribute id belonged to this specific container ? Update: I am having a function which is called for each container present on the page and so if I am using above mentioned code than will it not always return me the first match for id in the div and would never go to other divs and so I will always get same value for id which is for the first container ? If so than what is the work around for this ? Hope this question is clear.

  • Using input type="submit" to change content

    - by Conti
    Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm missing something very obvious here, but I just couldn't find a proper solution so far. What I'm trying to do is simple: Have a user write something into a form, have him submit the form, and write that input into a textarea on the same page. This is my code: <html><head></head> <body> <form name='registration'> <label for="input">Input:</label> <input type="text" id="input"/> <input type="submit" id="submit" value="Submit" onclick="execute()"/> </form> <div id="results"> <span>Result</span> <span><textarea cols="30" rows="5" id="resulttext" readonly="readonly"></textarea> </span> </div> <script> function execute() { var result = document.getElementById("input").value document.getElementById("resulttext").value=result; } </script> </body> </html> Now what happens if I enter something into the form is that the textarea briefly shows my input before reverting back to showing nothing. My guess is that the textarea field is only changed for the duration of the execute() function. When I change input type="submit" to a <button> everything works as intended, but I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to do that.

  • Does anyone know of a good free bulk upload tool for web apps?

    - by Ev
    I have a web application in which a user has to upload images to a gallery. At the moment they need to upload one image at a time so it's pretty tedious. I'd like to implement a system where they could potentially drag and drop files into the browser, or select a folder to upload. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! (By the way; it's a .Net App if it makes a difference, but I was thinking most of the work would be happening client side so shouldn't matter) -Ev

  • Google Chrome is doing things wrong again

    - by Stefan Liebenberg
    Chrome is wrongly reporting width and height values for images during, or just after, load time. Jquery is used in this code example: <img id='image01' alt='picture that is 145x134' src='/images/picture.jpg' /> <script> var img = $( 'img#image01' ) img.width() // would return 145 in Firefox and 0 in Chrome. img.height() // would return 134 in Firefox and 0 in Chrome. </script> If you put the script in a onload function, the result is the same. but if you run the code a few seconds after the page has loaded, chrome returns the correct result. <script> function example () { var img = $( 'img#image01' ); img.width() // returns 145 in both Firefox and Chrome. img.height() // returns 134 in both Firefox and Chrome. } window.setTimeout( example, 1000 ) </script> Also if you specify the width and height values in the img tag, the script seems to work as expected in both Firefox and Chrome. <img id='image01' src='/images/picture.jpg' width=145 height=134 /> But as you cannot always control the html input, this is not an ideal workaround. Can jQuery be patched with a better workaround for this problem? or will I need to specify the width and height for every image in my code?

  • How do I remove descendant elements from a jQuery wrapped set?

    - by Bungle
    I'm a little confused about which jQuery method and/or selectors to use when trying to select an element, and then remove certain descendant elements from the wrapped set. For example, given the following HTML: <div id="article"> <div id="inset"> <ul> <li>This is bullet point #1.</li> <li>This is bullet point #2.</li> <li>This is bullet point #3.</li> </ul> </div> <p>This is the first paragraph of the article</p> <p>This is the second paragraph of the article</p> <p>This is the third paragraph of the article</p> </div> I want to select the article: var $article = $('#article'); but then remove <div id="inset"></div> and its descendants from the wrapped set. I tried the following: var $article = $('#article').not('#inset'); but that didn't work, and in retrospect, I think I can see why. I also tried using remove() unsuccessfully. What would be the correct way to do this? Ultimately, I need to set this up in such a way that I can define a configuration array, such as: var selectors = [ { select: '#article', exclude: ['#inset'] } ]; where select defines a single element that contains text content, and exclude is an optional array that defines one or more selectors to disregard text content from. Given the final wrapped set with the excluded elements removed, I would like to be able to call jQuery's text() method to end up with the following text: This is the first paragraph of the article.This is the second paragraph of the article.This is the third paragraph of the article. The configuration array doesn't need to work exactly like that, but it should provide roughly equivalent configuration potential. Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Why is my condition onsubmit not returning false?

    - by Liso22
    After asking a couple of questions I managed to create this form. I didn't have troubles making it return false if the submitted value was 0 but I cannot make it return false when it's the string 'Cambia de ciudad". I'm sure I'm messing with the quotes or something like that. This is the form: <form role="search" method="get" action="http://chusmix.com/" onsubmit="if (document.getElementById('s')== 'Cambiá de ciudad") return false;'> <input class="ubicacion" name="s" id="s" tabindex="1" onsubmit="if ((document.getElementById('s').value.length < 4) || (document.getElementById('s')== 'Cambiá de ciudad')) return false;" onfocus="if (this.value=='Cambiá de ciudad') this.value = ''" onblur="if(this.value == '') this.value = 'Cambiá de ciudad'" type="text" maxlength="80" size="28" value="Cambiá de ciudad"> <input type="submit" id="searchsubmit" value="Buscar" /> </form> How do I make it work? Thanks

  • How to decide if a parameter is the click event

    - by sameold
    I have a function which can be called by either a click event or directly. When I call it directly, I need pass it a data parameter, so I've defined the function to accept a parameter to account for the direct call with the parameter. function myFunc(param){ } Within the function, I need to differentiate whether the function was called directly or from the click event, so what I thought I could simply check if param is set. If it's set, then the function is called directly. If it's not set, then it's called from the click event. The problem is that a click event by default passes an event object. So even when the function is called by the click event, param won't be null. So is there a way to check whether the param passed is the click event?

  • IE7 & IE8 error executing function with ajax

    - by Yahreen
    I am loading an ajax page which executes an HTML5 video player script. The function for the Flash fallback is html5media(); : //Load 1st Case Study $("#splash").live('click', function (e) { $(this).fadeOut('slow', function () { $('#case-studies').load('case-study-1.html', function() { html5media(); //initiate Flash fallback }).fadeIn(); }); e.preventDefault(); }); This initial page load works fine in IE7 & IE8. The problem is once this page is loaded, there are links to 4 more videos which are loaded in again using ajax. I use this function: //Switcher function csClients(url, client) { $("#case-studies").fadeOut('slow', function() { $('#case-studies').load(url, function () { html5media(); //initiate Flash fallback }).fadeIn(); }); } //Page Loader $("#cs-client-list li.client1 a").live('click', function(e) { csClients('case-study-1.html', 'client1'); e.preventDefault(); }); Originally I was using return false; but none of the sub-page Flash videos would load in IE7. When I switched to preventDefault, the videos loaded in IE7 but still not in IE8. I also get a weird error in both IE7 & IE8 with no helpful feedback: Error on Page: Unspecified error. / (Line 49) Code: 0 (Char 5) URI: http://www.mysite.com This is line 49 in my index page: <section id="case-studies" class="main-section"> I have a feeling it has to do with calling html5media(); too many times? At a loss...

  • SVG Using Adobe in IE doesn't work when loading page, but saving the page and then loading it works.

    - by Nick
    So I'm trying to get a SVG document to load in IE. I can see it fine, but all calls to .getSVGDocument() fail, the svg onload="onload()" function never gets called and the right-click Adobe SVG Viewer context menu doesn't show up when right-clicking on the svg. It seems as though I'm managing to crash the adobe SVG viewer or something before it is able to call the onload function but after it has drawn the SVG document. As a test I saved the html page to my hard drive and loaded it up and walla - it works! Right-click, onload, and .getSVGDocument() all work. Very curious. For some reason getting the page from the server makes the adobe plugin crap out but loading up static HTML is fine. Any thoughts?

  • Cached Jquery selector behavior that I do not understand

    - by gaoshan88
    Given the following code why am I getting different values for a and b? I would have thought they would return the same thing: (function() { var a = $('#foo'); var Test = function(){ console.log(a); //outputs 'jQuery()' var b = $('#foo'); console.log(b); //outputs 'jQuery(select#foo)' which is what I want }; })(); This question stems from me trying to stick frequently used selectors into vars. Originally I was doing it in each method (like I did with var b in the above example) but then I found I needed to use the selectors in multiple methods so I moved the assignment out to be available (or so I thought) to all of the methods in that anonymous function. As you can see, it does not work. Why is this?

  • Detecting Handlers of a jQuery "Live" Event

    - by Anderson De Andrade
    Using: $('#foo').data('events').click We are able to access an iterative object of click handlers added to the element '#foo' but only when they were added with .bind() Is there a way to get the handlers for an event added with .live()? Is there any other way to know if an element has a click handler assigned?

  • JS: Object itteration fails

    - by Newbie
    Hello! In my JS, I have an object called box_object. It looks like this: ({ id:"3", text:"this is a box object", connection_parent:["1", "2"], connection_child:["5", "6"], connectiondata_child:{ 0:{id:"5", linepoint:"bottom"}, 1:{id:"6", linepoint:"bottom"}}, connectiondata_parent:{ 0:{id:"1", linepoint:"top"}, 1:{id:"2", linepoint:"top"}} }) Now, I want to add some position values to box_object.connectiondata_parent. Using jQuery I can use the .each() method. So I tried it, but it failed. In my function I do the following: $(box_object.connectiondata_parent).each(function(it, obj){ if(typeof(obj[it]) != "undefined" && obj[it].linepoint == "top"){ var point_position_top = new Object(); point_position_top.left = startingpoint_left; point_position_top.top = startingpoint_top; obj[it].position = point_position_top; }else if(typeof(obj[it]) != "undefined" && obj[it].linepoint == "bottom"){ var point_position_bottom = new Object(); point_position_bottom.left = startingpoint_left; point_position_bottom.top = startingpoint_bottom; obj[it].position = point_position_bottom; }else{} }); After the function my box_object looks like this: ({ id:"3", text:"this is third box", connection_parent:["1", "2"], connection_child:["5", "6"], connectiondata_child:{ 0:{id:"5", linepoint:"bottom"}, 1:{id:"6", linepoint:"bottom"}}, connectiondata_parent:{ 0:{id:"1", linepoint:"top", position:{left:500, top:104}}, 1:{id:"2", linepoint:"top"}} }) It seems it only writes the values to the first "value". Any Ideas why?

  • jQuery UI Draggable 'stop' event called too many times?

    - by Graham
    I have a feeling I'm either misunderstanding the 'stop' event or not doing it right, but it seems to be called several times while the element is bound to is being dragged. makeAllDragable = function () { $(".test-table").draggable({ start: function (event, ui) { $(this).click(); }, stop: function (event, ui) { foo() } }).click(function () { selectTable($(this)); }); } foo = function () { alert("test"); } In this example foo is called about 30 times, shouldn't is just be when I release the draggable? The jQuery docs don't actually say one where or another though.

  • Using HTML Canvas for UI elements?

    - by Tower
    Hi, I have a couple of UI elements such as buttons in my web application. I was going to use CSS3's transitions to animate the transition from one background-image to another. I figured out that it's not possible with the current transitions draft at least. So, I was wondering if it would make sense to use Canvas as the button. I'm sure it can handle events, so, I see no problems here. Are there any?

  • Dynamic Select boxes page load

    - by Chris
    Hello, I have a dynamic chained select box that I am attempting to show the value of on a page load. In my chained select box, it will default to the first option within the select box on page load, could anyone provide assitance? I stumbled upon this thread, but I can't seem to translate what they are doing with that answer to my language of CF. Dynamic chained drop downs on page refresh Here is the JS script I am using. function dynamicSelect(id1, id2) { // Feature test to see if there is enough W3C DOM support if (document.getElementById && document.getElementsByTagName) { // Obtain references to both select boxes var sel1 = document.getElementById(id1); var sel2 = document.getElementById(id2); // Clone the dynamic select box var clone = sel2.cloneNode(true); // Obtain references to all cloned options var clonedOptions = clone.getElementsByTagName("option"); // Onload init: call a generic function to display the related options in the dynamic select box refreshDynamicSelectOptions(sel1, sel2, clonedOptions); // Onchange of the main select box: call a generic function to display the related options in the dynamic select box sel1.onchange = function() { refreshDynamicSelectOptions(sel1, sel2, clonedOptions); } } } function refreshDynamicSelectOptions(sel1, sel2, clonedOptions) { // Delete all options of the dynamic select box while (sel2.options.length) { sel2.remove(0); } // Create regular expression objects for "select" and the value of the selected option of the main select box as class names var pattern1 = /( |^)(select)( |$)/; var pattern2 = new RegExp("( |^)(" + sel1.options[sel1.selectedIndex].value + ")( |$)"); // Iterate through all cloned options for (var i = 0; i < clonedOptions.length; i++) { // If the classname of a cloned option either equals "select" or equals the value of the selected option of the main select box if (clonedOptions[i].className.match(pattern1) || clonedOptions[i].className.match(pattern2)) { // Clone the option from the hidden option pool and append it to the dynamic select box sel2.appendChild(clonedOptions[i].cloneNode(true)); } } } Thanks so much for any assistance

  • Canvas Check before submission

    - by smokinguns
    I have a page where a user can draw on the canvas and save the image to a file on the server. The canvas has a default black background. Is there a way to check if the user has drawn anything on the canvas before submitting the data URL representation of the image of a canvas with the toDataURL() function? So if the user doesn't draw anything on the canvas(it will be a blank canvas with a black background), the image wont be created on the server. Should I loop through each and every pixel of the canvas to determine this? Here is what I'm doing currently: var currentPixels = context.getImageData(0, 0, 600, 400); for (var y = 0; y < currentPixels.height; y += 1) { for (var x = 0; x < currentPixels.width; x += 1) { for (var c = 0; c < 3; c += 1) { var i = (y*currentPixels.width + x)*4 + c; if(currentPixels.data[i]!=0) break; } } }
