• IIS url rewrite rewriting all .asp to .html

  I need to create rules for web.config that will rewrite all requests for files with extension .html to .asp and redirect all .asp requests to .html Example: file_xyz.asp rewrites to file_xyz.html directory1/file_xyz.asp rewrites to directory1/file_xyz.html and file_xyz.html redirects to file_xyz.asp directory1/file_xyz.html redirects to directory1/file_xyz.asp What is the syntax for the rule Is this too broad a rule? If I should need for what ever reason to have a physical file such as file_abc.html how do I exclude it from the redirect rule? I am thinking I should just use ISAPI_Rewrite http://www.isapirewrite.com/ there seems to be a ton of resources out there for rewriting with htaccess and very little online help for using IIS 7 URL rewrite. Any thoughts and/or advice Thanks in advance

• Ajax: Load XML from different domain?

  I have signed up(paid) for Google site search. They have me a url of a sort of web service where I can send a query to it, it searches my site, and it returns XML of the search results. Well I am trying to load this XML via Ajax from a page on my site but I cannot. I can load from any of my pages on my domain so I am assuming it is because of the XML being on Google's domain. So there has got to be a way to load it though, I don't think they would have given me the URL if I couldn't do anything with it lol. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks! • What's the best way to run a process remotely with capturing the output ?

  Hi all, I have a windows service responsible for running processes on a remote machine with capturing the output, I googled for that and read a lot of articles and threads, I found two ways: 1) using WMI for call the remote process like this example: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/EverythingInWmi02.aspx 2) using the PsExec tool by System.Diagnostic.Process class ever way of these has many problems, the WMI doesn't support returning the output and doesn't support "WaitingToExit" It just call the process and return the PId, and the PsExec couldn't capture the output programmatically by System.Diagnostic.Process in a clear way, I found only workarounds like redirect the output to a file then read the redirected file..etc, I need a real solution please

  Hi all, I having trouble with passing http get parameters to jsf 2.0 backing bean. User will invoke URl with some params containing id of some entity, which is later used to persist some other entity in db. whole process can be summarized by fallowing: 1. user open page http://www.somhost.com/JsfApp/step-one.xhtml?sid=1 2. user fills some data and goes to next page 3. user fills some more data and then entity is saved to db with sid param from step one. I have session scoped backing bean that hold data from all the pages (steps), but I cant pass param to bean property.. any ideas?

  First time cake user and I'm having real apache problems. For some reason the .htaccess is trying to find File does not exist: /Library/WebServer/Documents/Users but there is no such directory as Users.   There is 20px margin/padding below the catmenuconatiner (second navigation bar). • Javascript form validation/sanitizing do i need regex here ?

  I have a single form input that is for checking domains. Sometimes people type in www. before the domain or .com after the domain name. The service that i use to check availability automatically checks for all top level domains so when people add the .com at the end it becomes redundant. For example the string submitted is domainname.com.com which is clearly invalid. I understand you can do this on the server side but due to some rather weird circumstance i must use javascript for this. So is regex the solution here ? If so is there some kind of regex generator i can use for this or can someone point me in the right direction with a code snippet perhaps ? Appreciate any help thanks!

• Curious: Could LLVM be used for Infocom z-machine code, and if so how? (in general)

  Forgive me if this is a silly question, but I'm wondering if/how LLVM could be used to obtain a higher performance Z-Machine VM for interactive fiction. (If it could be used, I'm just looking for some high-level ideas or suggestions, not a detailed solution.) It might seem odd to desire higher performance for a circa-1978 technology, but apparently Z-Machine games produced by the modern Inform 7 IDE can have performance issues due to the huge number of rules that need to be evaluated with each turn. • Python+Windows+GStreamer = Impossible (for me)?

  Hi :) essentially, my problem is, ater a long time searching, finding only this other question, i decided i was just going to ask my own... i am on windows 7 with python 2.6 and ossbuild GStreamer, but i am trying to get the python binding for it, and struggling. i have got gst-python from http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/src/gst-python/ but as my eyes and research tell me, it does not work in the setup.py way, and the other question has a link to a site that he says has a binary avaiable, which no longer does, http://www.gstreamer-winbuild.ylatuya.es/doku.php?id=download and even the sdk is gone, and ossbuild dont seem to have anything useful either. so essentially, my question is, can anyone tell me a method, however convoluted, of getting my setup so if i write a script for (py)gst, with an import gst it will work? not the best of explanations... im tired k? xxx :)

You may notice that in some browsers, your tables’ text will be larger, clunkier and not so pretty. This is also due to inheritance. Many browsers give tables their own style.   I am trying to make Weld, hibernate, jsf combination work on Jetty. The best approach I found on internet was http://www.laliluna.de/articles/2011/01/12/jboss-weld-jpa-hibernate.html . It was a pain to clean up the dependencies, but I managed to go through that. Now it works for me except the initialization part of the EntityManagerStoreImpl. It seems the weld listener for jetty does not produce a ContainerInitialized event, so the init method which observes this event is never called. Could you tell me please what is the best way to bootstrap this class in the jetty environment? thanks!

• How do you design a database to allow fast multicolumn searching?

  I am creating a real estate search from RETS data, but this is a general question. When you have a variety of columns that you would like the user to be able to filter their search result by, how do you optimize this? For example, http://www.charlestonrealestateguide.com/listings.php has 16 or so optional filters. Granted, he only has up to 11,000 entries (I have the same data), but I don't imagine the search is performed with just a giant WHERE AND AND AND ... clause. Or is this typically accomplished with one giant multicolumn index? Newegg, Amazon, and countless others also have cool & fast filtering systems for large amounts of data. How do they do it? And is there a database optimization reason for the tendency to provide ranges instead of empty inputs, or is that merely for user convenience?

  I cannot figure out how to set an estimated maximum price for a collection of records. What I want to avoid is to simply use SQL MAX, because maybe there are records with exorbitant prices. For example, in the "computers-hardware" category of OLX (http://www.olx.com/computers-hardware-cat-240) the filter for maximum price is estimately set to $1400, but sorting by price, the first items are above $10000 Maybe they calculated the average and then estimated some maximum price... what do you think? And what about the stepping? How would you calculate it?

  I need to use Subversion with Eclipse on Mac Lion. I encounter problem as below I saw: Subclipse in Mac OS Lion In my context: I use Mac OS Line 10.7.2 Eclipse version: 3.7.1 64 bit I install Subversion: Universal Subversion 1.6.17 Binaries for Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) in the page: http://www.open.collab.net/downloads/community/ I install Subclipse by the "Install New Software..." feature of Eclipse with the update link: http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.8.x It install Subclipse 1.8.2, JavaHL 1.7.1.1 and some other packages. When I go to menu Preferences/ Team / SVN , it produce error: "Incompatible JavaHL library loaded. 1.7.x or later required." I find to install SVN Kit, so use it instead of JavaHL as the very first link refer (here), but I don't see it in Subclipse package.

  Hi, I was trying to send an ajax request as POST request. But when i verified it on httpFox on firefox, the request is sent as GET. I tried pbht $.ajax() and $.post(). Many had a query regarding the same and had missed the "type" in $.ajax(), but even if i mention the type as "POST", the request will be of type GET.   I might be missing something here but am unable to understand the true purpose of link shortener services like bit.ly or is it just a lot of hype! Truly if you type nyti.ms on your URL bar on the browser it takes you to www.nytimes.com, but still what is so hard in typing "nytimes.com! which is far much comprehensible to read and understand leave alone to remember! Does shortening URL serve any purpose in web development? Why should someone want use obscure shortened URL?

  Hi, I am trying to use the NDK 5 full C++ gnustl: sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/README states: This implementation fully supports C++ exceptions and RTTI. But all attempts using exceptions fail. An alternative NDK exists on http://www.crystax.net/android/ndk-r4.php. Even the hello-jni example from that site does not work. Compliation works after creating an Application.xml with APP_STL := gnustl_static But it dies the same horrific death as my own experiments. Am I am missing something or is the statement in the README just plain wrong?

  I have downloaded MySQL ODBC Connector 5.1. Now am trying to setup the DSN. But am getting the error: Connection Failed : [HY000] [MySQL] [ODBC 5.1 Driver]Host '117.x.x.x' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server My server url is server.myweb.com - this name am entering in the TCP/IP Server and Port =3306. I have also entered the userid and password , which is the one which i enter when i open www.myweb.com/cpanel Is this a version problem? Should the version of MySQL on my server also be 5.1, i.e. the one of the ODBC? Please help.
