  hi friends, i have a problem while adding button to the navigation bar.. My application consist of two view controllers added to the viewControllers array of a tabBarController. Inturn this tabBarController is added to the viewControllers array of a navigationController. In one of the views i have a textfield for entering dates . On the tap of this textfield the datepicker will pop up. simultaneously i want to display a done button on the navigation bar. how can i do this... i tried using self.tabBarController.navigationController.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.doneButton; But this is not working... Pls help me out..

• Monitor multiple variable amounts of processes' start and exit

  I need some code to monitor the start and exit of processes. For example, assume I have a config file with 3 processe names, lets say, foo.exe, bar.exe and abc.exe. How I imagine this be done would be to create 3 threads and somehow listen to each process individually with a timer in each thread, and then do something afterwards. However, I would need to dynamically create threads and timers, as the config file is meant to be modifiable. I can work with VB.NET or C# Code. Thanks.

  I would like to use the syntax that printf uses, using the %d, %s and adding values after to assign a value to a char[]. Is this possible? e.g. Given an output of: printf("now: %d-%d-%d %d:%d:%d\n", tm.tm_year + 1900, tm.tm_mon + 1, tm.tm_mday, tm.tm_hour, tm.tm_min, tm.tm_sec); I'd like to assign that to char[] output; How can this be done? I tried: sprintf(output, "now: %d-%d-%d %d:%d:%d\n", tm.tm_year + 1900, tm.tm_mon + 1, tm.tm_mday, tm.tm_hour, tm.tm_min, tm.tm_sec); but that didn't seem to work. Is sprintf used differently... or is that not what I should be using? Thanks!

• Very basic database theory.

  I have a set of tables to show the relationship between organziations and supporters below. Although I have done some basic mySQL querries, I know very little about database 'design'. I plan to querry the database for: -a list of contributors to a specific organization... or, -a list of organizations that a specific suporter supports. The database tables for organiations and contributors may have other columns in the future and recieve a lesser amount of querries based on that information. A | X A | Y A | Z B | X B | Y C | X C | Z How should the tables be set up? I assume that there should be a third table, but there is still redundent information in the third table. • Changing populated DataTable column data types

  Hi, I have a System.Data.DataTable which is populated by reading a CSV file which sets the datatype of each column to string. I want to append the contents of the DataTable to an existing database table - currently this is done using SqlBulkCopy with the DataTable as the source. However, the column data types of the DataTable need to be changed to match the schema of the target database table, handling null values. I am not very familiar with ADO.NET so have been search for a clean way of doing this? Thanks.

• Generate multiple attribute?

  ATM i cant quiet imagine how this will work. I'm sure it can be done. I notice a pattern use in my attribute where i always use 3 specific attributes together. Take the below as an example [MyAttr(4, @"a"), MyAttr(41, "b"), MyAttr(45, "ab")] Mine is much more complicated but i would like to define one attribute with more params to generate the data above. How might i do that? Lets say my one attribute will look like this MyAttr2(4, 41, "a", "b"); //4+41=45, "a"+"b" = "ab" How might i generate the 3 MyAttr to apply to a class using MyAttr2?

  I want to compress much small strings (about 75-100 length c# string). At the time the dictionary is created I already know all short strings (nearly a trillion). There will no additional short strings in future. I need to extra exactly one string without decompress other strings. Now I am looking for a library or the best way to do the following: Create a dictionary using all strings I have Using this dictionary to compress each string a way to compress one string using the dictionary from 1. I found a good related question, but this is not c# specific. Maybe there is something for c# I do not know, or a fancy library or someone has already done that. • Align/Wrap images around div

  What I'm trying to achieve is a page with a div centered in the middle of the screen (720x360). This is done with jQuery using $(window).height() and $(window).width() and works perfectly. The next part is getting 180x180 images to fit around that middle div. These will fill the screen + beyond. I'm stuck on how to get these to align that way and I couldn't find a live example of anyone doing the same thing. So, is this even possible? Thanks, Any help is appreciated!

How to access the child class(B's) variable(x) via the parent class method? Could this be done without overriding the print() method (i.e. uncommenting it in B)? [This is important because on overriding we will have to rewrite the whole code for the print() method again]

• Do you leave historical code commented out in classes that you update?

  When you need to obsolete a section of code (say either the business rules changed, or the old system has been reworked to use a new framework or something) do you delete it from the file or do you comment it out and then put in the new functionality? If you comment it out, do you leave a note stating why it was removed and what it was originally intended to do? I ask mainly because I've done a lot of contract work for different places over the years and sometimes it's like excavating a tomb to find the actual code that is still being used. Why comment it out and leave it in the file if source control has a record of what used to be there? If you comment out a method do you also comment out/delete any methods that were exclusively used by that method? What do you think the best practices for this should be?

  I need to validate the contents of a C# method. I do not care about syntax errors that do not affect the method's scope. I do care about characters that will invalidate parsing of the rest of the code. For example: method() { /* valid comment */ /* <-- bad for (i..) { } for (i..) { <-- bad } I need to validate/fix any non-paired characters. This includeds /* */, { }, and maybe others. How should I go about this? My first thought was Regex, but that clearly isn't going to get the job done.

  I have used the "select" keyword and extension method to return an IEnumerable<T> with LINQ, but I have a need to return a generic Dictionary<T1, T2> and can't figure it out. The example I learned this from used something in a form similar to the following: IEnumerable<T> coll = from x in y select new SomeClass{ prop1 = value1, prop2 = value2 }; I've also done the same thing with extension methods. I assumed that since the items in a Dictionary<T1, T2> can be iterated as KeyValuePair<T1, T2> that I could just replace "SomeClass" in the above example with "new KeyValuePair<T1, T2> { ...", but that didn't work (Key and Value were marked as readonly, so I could not compile this code). Is this possible, or do I need to do this in multiple steps? Thanks.

  I want to incorporate some Accelerometer code into a Android application im working and want to see if this is possible. Basically what I need is for the code to detect car acceleration motion. I am not wanting to determine speed with the code but just distinguish if the phone is in a car and has accelerated motion (Hence the car is moving for the first time). I have gone through many different accelerometer applications to see if this motion produces a viable profile to go off of and it appears it does. Just looking for something that popups a "Hello World" dialog when it detects your in the car and its moving for the first time down the street. Any help would be appreciated and a simple yes or no its possible would work. I would also be interested in compensating anyone that is capable of doing this as well.   I am writing a client program that uses Sockets. I would like the client to receive asyncronously UNLESS it is expecting a response, in which case I would like to receive syncronously. My current problem is that because I have to make a call to socket.BeginReceive which waits until there's data on the buffer, the async call always happens prior to the sync call.. How could I temporarily stop BeginReceive from executing? Is there a way to call EndReceive and then once I am done receiving syncronously, I can continue to receive asnycronously?
