  • Javascript function returning number with two decimals...?

    I have a function to return points along a line and my return comes back with two decimal points...? For example, a return of my variable px will be something like -88.4029.032940598. vx is the x vector and mult is the distance of the line plus distance to calculate the point. Here is the operation that is returning these values: var mult = parseFloat(mag + theUnit); var px = coord_one.x_point + (vx * mult); console.log(px); Never have seen this before- I appreciate any and all help!

  • Cannot override the CSS at this site

    This site is overriding my CSS with its own and I cannot get around it! It has style.css with "text-align: center" in the body. I have <div id="mydiv"> appended to the body and it's normally got "text-align: left". There are <ul>s and <li>s underneath #mydiv and they are inheriting the body's 'center' for some reason.   • Stop then restart submit() after ajax check

    I asked a question [here] recently and it's just not providing me with an answer. Here's what I want to do and you can see my first attempt at the link above: User submits form Stop default submit action check to see if a similar entry exists in database If it does, display a notice asking them if they want to submit anyway and give an option to let them submit anyway (enable default action and submit it). If it does not, enable the default action on the form and let it submit I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated. Thanks gang.

I need that ID to be the number at the end of the href string.   • any ideas for avoiding duplicate code in C# and javascript

    i have an asp.net mvc website where i build up most of the page using C# for example building up html tables given a set of data from my viewmodel i also have a lot of javascript that then dynamcially modifies these tables (add row for example). the javascript code to add a new row looks extremely similar to my "rendering" code i have in C# that is used to build up the html table in the first place. Every time i change the c# code to a add a new field, i have to remember to go back to the javascript code to do the same. is there a better way here?

  • JSONP not firing on IPad

    After trying everything possible I've come to the conclusion this is an issue with IPad Safari. This works in FF, IE, Chrome, and Safari on MacBook. Below is my dumbed-down code. I have 2 separate JSONP calls, This first one works in all browsers including IPad. This simply calls a function based on a blur event $('#gender').blur(function() { reTarget(); }); function reTarget() { $.getJSON("http://host.com/Jsonpgm?jsoncallback=?", function() { } ); } Below is where things break. On the same page as the above code is the following, which calls a function based on a submit button click. $(':submit').bind('click', function(event) { if (checkThis() == false) { return false; }; }); $('form').bind('submit', function(event) { if (checkThis() == false) { return false; }; }); function checkThis() { $.getJSON("http://host.com/Jsonpgm.aspx?jsoncallback=?", function() { } ); } This code will not fire. I've put alerts right before it and they fire. I look at the web logs and there is no entry for this json call. I would take any suggestions on this. At this point I fear it's a problem with firing jsonp from a submit event.

  • Discussion - Allowing / blocking user access to pages / Client Side Validation (Client Side Only!) -

    TLDR Using plain HTML / Javascript (Client Side) I want to prevent viewing of certain pages. The user will have to type a username and password and depending on that they get access to different pages. Answers can NOT include server side whatsoever It does not matter if they can break it easily. There is no sensitive information etc. Also the target audience will not have access to internet OR probably know what a cookie is... At some point the user will have to type username / password.(I can define the cookie here) Currently I thought of using cookies to set a cookie for each page to say "true" / "false" but that would get messy with so many cookies. Or setting an array within a cookie for each page? I have div field "#Content" which as it looks encompasses all of my content on the page so blocking out content will be as simple as replacing it with ("sorry you don't have access") etc. For Example: $.cookie("Access","page1, page2, page3"{ expires: 1 }); I am looking for anyway to do this does not have to be with cookies. Would be nice to get a discussion of different ways this can be done. So the question is: What do YOU think would be a good way to go about doing this with client side validation? Also on another note discussion on how to make client side more secure or ways to do so are acceptable.

    Hi, I'd like to find if a child element exists which has either of two class styles applied. My code looks like this: var listOfMatchedResults = $("#parentList").find(".myStyle1, .myStyle2"); My styles are defined like this: .parent li, .myStyle0 { } .parent li.myStyle1 { } .parent li.myStyle2 { } I don't need to traverse more than one level deeper than the children level, like: <ul id='parentList'> <li><p>foo</p><p>grok</p></li> <li class='myStyle2'><p>Here</p><p>I am!</p></li> <li><p>foo</p><p>grok</p></li> </ul> I'm not clear as to what find() is doing, is it going into each of the paragraph elements too?     I have a dynamically generated select with some options and it shows the options fine in normal browsers, but its empty options in IE. Maybe you had some of you would've had a similar experience and could figure this one out. The weird thing is, if I alert the html of the option just after the getDiff() function, it shows the value filled out. And it I put the getDiff() function in the for loop where the options are generated, it fills the values and shows them in IE, just not the last one. I'm calling getDiff() outside the loop for optimization, and since I can add the values later after all the options are generated. Well at least I thought I could, since it works on Firefox and Chrome.
