  Hi: I am using perl INET to create inter-process communication in my program. I need to use a specific port number in my TCP client. I was following the example in Perl doc, but it doesn't work.   They seem to open in an internet explorer type window, does anyone know: How long have HTA files been around? Have they been around since Windows 98? Do they rely on Internet Explorer being installed, and/or a certain version of it? If you choose another browser on the browser selection screen update for Windows 7, will HTA files still work? Do HTA files open on other browsers? Are HTA files windows-only? There is a huge lack of documentation on google about HTA files, so it's tricky to work out. I need to present the client with a list of minimum requirements to ensure our HTA content CD will work.

• ESRI frameworks: java vs javascript

  I'm about to develop a web mapping application with ESRI Products like ArcGIS Server and Image Server. I can't find a good comparison between the Java Web ADF and the Javascript Framework. They're of course different because one is a full environment and the other is only client side but it's much more concise and the step to start is minimal. Another problem is that the Java Web ADF is not compatible with our current application server (JBoss 4.2.2) and require an old 4.0.2 version. Someone out there has experience that can help me? • jQuery not replacing text in ReportViewer

  I'm trying to replace text that I got back in the ReportViewer using jQuery. My div, wrapped in the table cell, display "empty" as text - which I plan on replacing with my own formatted text on the client side. I can use jQuery just fine to set a class on the div (which is inside a td element). Example: jQuery('div:contains("empty")').addClass('replacetext'); But for some reason I cannot do this: jQuery('div:contains("empty")').replaceWith('<div>Hello World</div>'); I tried this out on some other elements on the page and jQuery does work... but it seems like this issue is ReportViewer (I'm using 2008) specific.

  Hello Everyone, After having a search around I could not find exactly what I want, I am looking to validate a form client side using the Jquery library and some form of validation plugin. I was hoping that some one could advise me on whether there are any validation plugins out there that do not use generic error messages, as my form is laid out with no room for these errors, and I also I want the validator to to for correct content as well. Basically I want to be able to check the field on each key press and blur and if the fields validates for it to gain a green border, and if it does not validate for it to gain a red border, any one know of a plugin that can do this? • LocalUser access for WCF hosted in IIS

  I have tried every combination to allow unauthenticated access to WCF as in "LocalUser" accounts, in IIS without success. Here is what I've most recently tried: wsHttpBinding with Message security and mode set to "None". IIS anonymous access enabled, all others disabled, folder level access at default (but granted read access to "Users" which is all users in our domain). I understand I may not have provided enough information to solve the issue, but perhaps somebody can point me in the right direction - is this likely to be a IIS configuration issue or a WCF configuration issue... if WCF, is it likely to be a client level or server level issue? The error I get when attempting to access here is "User is not authenticated". We have ASMX services in the domain which are behaving properly, I am the first developer using WCF here.

• How can I force asp.net webapi to always decode POST data as JSON

  I getting some json data posted to my asp.net webapi, but the post parameter is always coming up null - the data is not being serialized correctly. The method looks something like this: public HttpResponseMessage Post(string id, RegistrationData registerData) It seems the problem is that the client (which I have no control over) is always sending the content-type as x-www-form-urlencoded, even though the content is actually json. This causes mvc to try to deserialize as form data, which fails. Is there anyway to get webapi to always deserialize as json, and to ignore the content-type header?

• How do you redeploy javascript in Idea when using a Tomcat configuration

  I'm working on a java/javascript webapp that runs on tomcat. We're working with IDEA and I've managed to get debugging set up for both the client and server code at the same time, which is great. I did have hot redeployment of the javascript set up when running Tomcat manually, however I find when running Tomcat through IDEA this doesnt work as it's setting stuff up somewhere in my users folder. I was going to just set up a deployment configuration to go to that folder but I can't see any of the javascript files in there. Is it possible to get the best of both worlds and have debugging and automatic deployment working together?

  I am trying to figure out a way to update my web.config for different environments by updating the configSource for the appSettings element in the web.config. Here are the way I know how to do it. $xml.get_DocumentElement().appSettings.configSource = $replaced_test The problem is that I want one base script where I can pass in different nodes to the script that I want to change and update but I am not sure how to do it.   Hi, Want to create a directory on windows from a PHP script. My script is in www/Test directory of Apache and want to create a folder(fold1) inside www/downloads directory. Inside the script, using, $dirName = "../downloads/fold1"; mkdir("{$dirName}"); If we use the full path of dirName like C:\Apache\www\downloads\fold1, it works fine. • Need help parsing file/writing script

  Hey all, I have been doing nothing but web development over the last few years and haven't written any Java or C++ in what feels like forever. I don't necessarily need to use these languages, so I'm entirely open to suggestion. I was given an email list by a client to import into their mailchimp account yesterday and unfortunately, Mailchimp couldn't read the file. It's a text file, but I don't believe it's tab delimited (which would make this much, much easier for me). A small portion of the file (I've changed last names and email addresses) can be viewed here: http://sparktoignite.com/patients.txt If anyone has suggestions on how I can get this into a Mailchimp readable format (csv, tab delimited txt, excel) please let me know. I feel like 3 years ago I would've been able to do this in a matter of minutes, but given that I haven't touched anything other than RoR, PHP, and jQuery for the last few years, I don't know where to start. I am not experienced enough in web development to make a product catalogue from scratch so if you guys could point me out in right direction I would be very grateful.   My ASP.NET application runs in IIS on my web server and uses Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Beta 2. (Its Application Pool is set to .NET Framework version .NET Framework v4.0.21006.) It gives this new error: A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client... This is due to a breaking change in .NET 4. To revert to the behavior of the ASP.NET 2.0 request validation feature, I added the following setting in the Web.config file: <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" /> Now Visual Studio 2008 throws a compile-time error: The 'requestValidationMode' attribute is not declared. And I can no longer debug on my development machine using the ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio. I need Visual Studio and its ASP.NET Development Server to recognize the new .NET Framework 4 requestValidationMode attribute. How can I debug my application in .NET 4? Must I switch from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2?

• DDMS Not Showing Threads From Device

  I'd like to check for memory leaks in my Android app using the DDMS feature in Eclipse. When I launch an emulated device, the threads display properly for the emulated device, starting with 8600 and up. However, when I connect my Droid to the PC, the device shows up just fine in DDMS. The logcat is generated correctly, and I can view the file structure. However, threads do not display. I get "no client selected" in the Threads pane, and there is no drop-down icon next to the device listing. Do I need to change some particular setting in Eclipse? Is this maybe a driver issue?

Now, I'm required to do the "check-extension" in the other way: at the moment the client click and choose FileUpload, an alert show "Extension of files are not allowed.". I need a way to make an alert show at the momment the FileUpload choosed in browser. Help!!!!

I've narrowed the problem down to the following line: This line works fine: $ws = New-WebServiceProxy "http://host/Service?wsdl" -UseDefaultCredential but this line blocks forever start-job { New-WebServiceProxy "same url" -UseDefaultCredential } ` | wait-job | Receive-Job Some details: the service is local, and requires windows authentication. Client is XP & server 2003. Why? How do get it to work?

• Javascipt: Get mouse position relative to parent element

  Is there any way to get mouse position relative to it's parent element? Let's say I have a structure: <div id="parent"> <span class="dot"></span> </div> When I bring my mouse over span element I need to get its position relative to its parent element (<div id="parent">). PageX/ClientX give me position relative to page/client area, so it's not working for me. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• WAMP Server not working

  Okay so a continuation from this question, where you experts intro'd me to WAMP, which can basically execute PHP within a Windows XP environment. So now I've got it installed, but the tray icon forever shows YELLOW, and when I visit any PHP page in my browser, it just shows me the PHP source! Also, when I visit "http://localhost/" in IE7 it gives me a 404 Not Found, FF3 just shows a blank page. BTW I've tried "Restart All Services" and restarting my machine, but it still won't work. Any ideas? Any of you had this problem and solved it? Please help me here, I'm desperate to execute PHP client-side and I'm just reverting to testing on-server for now!

• Importing contacts into the GAL

  I have a list of People and E-Mail addresses that my client would like to be able to download and then import into their GAL (Global Address List) in Outlook. Right now it is in a DataGrid. Several questions... Is that possible? What format do I need to put the list into so that it can be imported? How do I import it? I haven't been able to find out much on the topic, so cheers for any help or guidance!
