• Is there anyway to configure Google account for Windows 8 Sync?

  Recently upgraded to Windows 8. The problem is a lot of Sync features requires Microsoft account to linked. Even though I have one, I don't want to spare one for Sync purpose. Additionally, Google-Chrome's sync feature is absolutely charming. So I prefer Google for storing my data. So, 1) Is there anyway to replace Microsoft Sync with other accounts by patching or modifying any byte? 2) I want to replace Maps, Weather, and all possible apps with Google. I've see Mail can be done. What are the all other possible Metro apps?

• c# resize window over display resolution

  I am total newbie in .Net programming so be patient, please ;-). I have problem with resizing window. I want to resize from my app other app's window and take screenshot of it. I do resizing based on this example: http://blogs.geekdojo.net/richard/archive/2003/09/24/181.aspx. But I have a problem. I work on a laptop with 1024x640 pixels screen resolution but I want to resize my window to 1200x1600 px. I can't do that couse display limitations. Is there any tricky solution to resize window for this resolution and take a screenshot of whole window? I've alos tried Sdesk program witch is suggested here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/445893/create-window-larger-than-desktop-display-resolution. Any help?

• touchesBegan and other touch events not getting detected in UINavigationController

  In short, I want to detect a touch on the navigation controller titlebar, but having trouble actually catching any touches at all! Everything is done without IB, if that makes a difference. My app delegate's .m file contains: MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:viewController]; [window addSubview:navigationController.view]; There are a few other subviews added to this window in a way that overlays navigationController leaving only the navigation bar visible. MyViewController is a subclass of UIViewController and its .m file contains: - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { NSLog(@"ended\n"); } } -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { NSLog(@"began\n"); } } I also tried putting these functions directly into app delegate's .m file, but the console remains blank. What am I doing wrong?

• Thunderbird Transition from POP3 to IMAP Keeping Directory Structure

  For the past 6 years I have been using Thunderbird as a POP3 client to gmail (I do not delete the messages from the server after downloading). I organize all of my mail locally and occasionally use gmail for web access. Obviously, any local changes aren't reflected on the server so I have one inbox with 10s of 1000s of unread messages (since I usually read them on Thunderbird and they do not get marked as read in gmail) I'd like to start using IMAP but the main deterrent is that I'd lose the organization of my email. Is there any utility that I could use to reconstruct the structure? I am not sure if it is possible to correlate messages I've downloaded from the server with messages still on the server. A solution which requires minor scripting/databasing is acceptable!

  Hi all, When I implement OAuth in iPhone, I have a dilemma to choose Safari or UIWebView to open the Twitter pages for user authentication? I write some advantage and disadvantage of both case: Using UIWebWeb. The disadvantage is users have to enter their credentials in our application. It's maybe risky phishing. The advantage is this approach will not quit our app. Using Safari for user to authenticate (this approach automatically callbacks to our application) Addvantage: less risky. • What is the simplest, open-source webmail frontend available?

  I am working on a project to create a few extremely stripped down interfaces for common Web/Internet tasks in order to make computers accessible to my visually impaired grandmother. Currently she uses Mac OS X Mail.app, but I had the idea that I could re-skin a webmail interface running on my own server to make it easier for her to use. The ideal webmail interface to use as a starting point would be without frames or AJAX and written in Python, Perl, or PHP5+, though any setup could work as long as the template and stylesheet files were separate from the application itself. This frontend must also connect to a remote IMAP server, since her email account is with her ISP and not on my server. Can anyone recommend a bare-bones, no-nonsense webmail interface that would work for this?

• Receive emails on Amazon EC2 Server

  I just got started with an EC2 instance and got my mail sending limit removed, allowing me to send emails from my instance. But due to lack of experience, I have no clue on how to enable receiving emails send to me on that server. The instance has an elastic IP and I have a domain name with an A record pointing to that IP. I cant seem to find better documentation on what steps need to be taken so if someone sends an email to [email protected] it either actually receives it or simply forwards it to my personal email. I know that it involves using postfix but cant find a guide to properly configure it after the installation. Thanks

• Progress Dialog in Android doesn't Show?

  Okay.. I am doing something similar to the below: private void onCreate() { final ProgressDialog dialog = ProgressDialog.show(this, "Please wait..", "Doing stuff..", true); Thread t = new Thread() { public void run() { //do some serious stuff... dialog.dismiss(); } }; t.start(); t.join(); stepTwo(); } However, what I am finding is that my progress dialog never even shows up. My App stalls for a moment so I know it is chugging along inside of thread t, but why doesnt my dialog appear? IF I remove the line: t.join(); Then what I find happens is that the progress dialog does show up, but my app starts stepTwo(); before what happens in the thread is complete.. Any ideas?

  Ringo is a delegate of Paul's mailbox in Exchange, but when Ringo sends mail from Paul's mailbox, the recipient sees "Paul" in the sender field, rather than "Paul Sent On Behalf Of Ringo" Paul has set "Editor" permissions for Ringo to his mailbox, and Ringo has been granted "Send on behalf of" permissions in Exchange. Ringo did at one time have "Send As" permissions for Paul's mailbox in Exchange, but this has since been removed. This is also the case for all other delegates to Paul's mailbox. • Mapping to a JSON method with url-pattern

  I'm creating a Spring MVC application that will have a controller with 'RequestMapping'-annotated methods, including a JSON method. It currently has static content that resides in webapps/static, and the app itself resides in webapps/myapp. I assume that Catalina's default servlet is handling the static content, and my *.htm url-pattern in web.xml is returning the request for my JSP page, but I haven't been able to get the JSON method to be called. How do I write the url-pattern in the servlet mapping to do so? Using /* has not worked; it prevents the app from being accessed at all. Is there anything else to be aware of? EDIT: The url-pattern '/' appears to allow the JSON request through, because a 406 error is returned. What then would need to be modified to allow JSON to be returned?

  I've updated my gmail password and so i must update my blackberry password. I tried updating the email password to which i got the following message. Invalid email address or password. Please verify your email address and password. The information you provided is incorrect. If the error persists contact gmail.com (Your email provider). Please try again. I tried again, with what i know the password to be, with password show on. I've also deleted the account and tried to create it. I've tried going to the "Last account activity: XXXX details" menu and signing out all devices. I'm continually getting the above error, but the account activities don't seem to show any sign of a mobile attempt to access my mail account. Has anyone had this issue before and how did you sign it. Thanks in advance.

• Safe deployment of ASP.Net applications

  Hi All, I have an asp.net app that I want to deploy safely (with as little down time possible). I would love to do something like blue green deployment but without the need for a second web server. So, I know I can use load balancing, etc but I need a quick and cheap approach. I was thinking of doing something like: Setting up another website (copy of original) in IIS, currently I use host headers to direct traffic across sites). I could then view the new site locally until the site is totally online (due to NHibernate start up and various other high intensity tasks this takes a while). Once site 2 is totally started I would then change host headers around giving me a much much smaller down time. So my question is. Has anyone done anything like this? Will IIS restart my app pool or application when changing host headers (making this useless)? Any other options? Thanks for your help all. Guido

• Debuging to simulator crashes with "exited with status 5" unless I have breakpoint

  For some reason the app I am working on has very bad PMT! Literally! Most of the time I cannot debug using the simulator without putting a breakpoint in my AppDelegate. If I don't it exists with "status 5". If I put a break point in and simple continue it works perfectly well, it also works if I run the app in the simulator when not connected to the GDB. I have tried the source on a second machine with exactly the same results. I dont have this issue building to the device?!?!?! Thanks

  I am using Grails 2.1.0 and Twitter Bootstrap Plugin 2.1.1 and am encountering an issue with navbar-fixed-top. In order to get the Navbar fixed to the top of the page to behave correctly during resize, the Twitter Bootstrap Docs states: Add .navbar-fixed-top and remember to account for the hidden area underneath it by adding at least 40px padding to the . Be sure to add this after the core Bootstrap CSS and before the optional responsive CSS. How can I do this when using the Grails Plugin for Twitter Bootstrap? Here is what I have tried: main.gsp <head> ... <r:require modules="bootstrap-css"/> <style type="text/css"> body { padding-top: 60px; padding-bottom: 40px; } .sidebar-nav { padding: 9px 0; } </style> <r:require modules="bootstrap-responsive-css"/> <r:layoutResources/> </head> The problem is that Grails Plugin for Twitter Bootstrap takes the content of bootstrap.css and bootstrap-responsive.css and combines them into the following merged file: static/bundle-bundle_bootstrap_head.css. Thus, I am not able to put the body padding style "after core Bootstrap CSS and before Responsive CSS" as per Twitter Bootstrap docs.   Hello all. I want to extract "special" data from an Excel 2002 (client requirement, cannot change) workbook and worksheets contained therein. I have classified ranges in this "special" data category. I would like to acquire a list of all ranges in, ideally, all worksheets in a workbook. The attributes I'm interested in are the range name, and the range address. I have been googling for a while now, and have not found anything relevant. I was assuming the Excel 2002 API would expose something like this: ApplicationClass app = new ApplicationClass(); Workbook workbook = app.Workbooks.Open(@"c:\file.xls", ...); Worksheet worksheet = workbook.Worksheets["sheet1"] as Worksheet; Range[] ranges = worksheet.GetAllRanges(); or something similar. However, I am sadly mistaken. Is this possible with Excel 2002?

• XDocument holding onto Memory?

  I have an appplication that does a XDocument.Load from a 20mb file and then gets passed to a form to view its contents: openFileDialog1.FileName = ""; if (openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { AuditFile = XDocument.Load(openFileDialog1.FileName); fmAuditLogViewer AuditViewer = new fmAuditLogViewer(); AuditViewer.ReportDocument = AuditFile; AuditViewer.Init(); AuditViewer.ShowDialog(); AuditViewer.Dispose(); AuditFile.RemoveNodes(); AuditFile = null; } In Task Manager I can see the memory being used by my application shoot up when I open this file. When I have finished viewing this file in my application I call : myXDocument.RemoveNodes(); myXDocument = null; However the memory use in Task Manager is still pretty high against my app. Is the XDocument still being held in memory and can I decrease the memory usage by my app?

  I want a setup where an e-mailaddress like [email protected] redirects mail to the folder foo. I've already got dovecot configured and tested. It is called by postfix with this line in master.cf: dovecot unix - n n - - pipe flags=DRhu user=vmail:vmail argv=/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -f ${sender} -d ${user}@${nexthop} -n -m ${extension} I expect ${extension} to expand to 'foo' but it is always empty. I've added recipient_delimiter = + to my main.cf. How can I get it to work? Update: I've got a catch-all alias that redirects @domain.com to [email protected]. It seems that the extension is empty because of this. So the question becomes: Can I have a catch-all so that [email protected] redirects to [email protected] without explicitly defining either the random or the ext part?

• Dovecot ignoring maximum number of IMAP connections

  I have a single mailbox mail server running Dovecot/Postfix and I have two IMAP clients, Thunderbird on the PC and K9 on Android. I keep on receiving this error in my logs even after I change the 'mail_max_userip_connections' variable to 50. puppet dovecot: imap-login: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections=10): user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=62.242.90.2, lip=198.29.31.229, TLS Why does it say that it is set to 10 in the log? Is that hardcoded? grep -r "mail_max_userip_connections" /etc/dovecot /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-managesieve.conf: #mail_max_userip_connections = 10 /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-pop3.conf: #mail_max_userip_connections = 3 /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-imap.conf: mail_max_userip_connections = 50 I've restarted dovecot after making the changes but this error is still logged and I can't access the mailbox. Can anyone help me understand why I can't seem to raise the maximum limit?

• Sencha Touch 2: List does not display in Panel

  I am working on an MVC app in Sencha Touch 2 and am having trouble getting a list to display in a nested panel. The structure of the app has a main view which is a tab panel. One of the items in the tab panel is a defined panel, xtype: 'homepanel'. An item in this panel is the list, xtype: 'newslist' that is linked to the appropriate store and model files. The list does not display unless I change its parent 'homepanel' to a type, Ext.navigation.View. What am I missing in the definition of 'homepanel' as a Panel that prevents the display of the list? • where do I submit the ipad apps?

  I read Apple is allowing developers to submit iPad apps for the great opening of the ipad store, but I cannot find anything in my account that says that or allows sending the apps. Another thing is: in order for an app to be accepted you have to sign it with your own certificate but to do that you have to select the device on Xcode. As far as I know, Xcode do not signs with certificates applications that run on the simulator. Beyond that, any try to build a distribution package on Xcode shows messages like "you should disable armv6", and others. So, I ask. Is this news true? If yes, how to I manage to have the app ready for iPad and ready for submission? thanks.
