    How do you add < (less than) or (greater than) to a summary comment in visual studio? I am in Visual Studio 2008. I have a generic method: public bool IsMemberProtected<T>(Expression<Func<T, object>> expression) Would love to have a summary tag of something like this /// <summary> /// Determines whether a member is protected. /// /// Usage: IsMemberProtected<ExampleType>(x => x.Member) /// </summary> But when I do that, the tooltip for the property no longer works when a developer hovers over the method in code to view the summary tag.   • Data Validation for Random varying Phone Numbers

    I am storing phone numbers of varying lengths in my WPF (C#, VS 08) App. I store them as strings. My question is about my method AddNewPhoneNo(string phoneNo). In this method, I use Int.TryParse to validate the incoming number (i.e. not null, is numeric...). I've since realized this is probably not the best way to do this, because then I am limited to a number which is ± 2147483647. Definetly this is not always the case with phone numbers. What is a good, easy way to validate phone numbers? I guess the basic rules would be as follows: All numeric All positive Upto 25 chars (could be more, but this will to do for time being) Can't thing if theres any more rules at the moment, that's probably it.

    I've made a UIScrollView the first responder. I need to maintain touch events to a touchesEnded:withEvent: method on a view behind it. I've tried using the nextResponder method and that failed. I've tried forwarding touchesEnded:withEvent to the view behind it and that fails. How do I get this to work? The UIScrollView wont work unless it is the first responder or gets events some other way. Thank you for any help. Shame Apple's documentation and APIs are terrible in areas.

  • How do I make my applet turn the user's input into an integer and compare it to the computer's random number?

    I'm in beginning programming and I don't fully understand applets yet. However, (with some help from internet tutorials) I was able to create an applet that plays a game of guess with the user.   • How can I know when SQL Full Text Index Population is finished?

    We are writing unit tests for our ASP.NET application that run against a test SQL Server database. That is, the ClassInitialize method creates a new database with test data, and the ClassCleanup deletes the database. We do this by running .bat scripts from code. The classes under test are given a connection string that connects to the unit test database rather than a production database. Our problem is, that the database contains a full text index, which needs to be fully populated with the test data in order for our tests to run as expected. As far as I can tell, the fulltext index is always populated in the background. I would like to be able to either: Create the full text index, fully populated, with a synchronous (transact-SQL?) statement, or Find out when the fulltext population is finished, is there a callback option, or can I ask repeatedly? My current solution is to force a delay at the end the class initialize method - 5 seconds seems to work - because I can't find anything in the documentation.

    I'm finding it difficult to understand when it is necessary to create class methods. From what I've read, they are important for creating new objects, but I do not see how.     I'm always writing tests to check my controller restricts people from certain actions depending on their status i.e. logged in, admin? etc Regardless of whether its a get to :index or a puts to :create the code is always the same. I'm trying to refactor this so that i have one method such as should_redirect_unauthenticated_to_login_action(request, action) and call it like so should_redirect_unauthenticated_to_login_action(:get, :index) = get :index But not sure how to dynamically call the various response methods rails provides for functional tests which seem to live in the module ActionController I mucked around with module = Kernel.const_get("ActionController") module::TestProcess.get NoMethodError: undefined method `get' for ActionController::TestProcess:Module can anyone help (im very new to dynamic calling in ruby)

  • multiple regionDidChangeAnimated calls - what gives?

    I have a MKMapView inside a UITableView as a custom cell (don't ask ;) - don't know if it matters really), for which I register a regionDidChangeAnimated delegate method. This method gets called three times when the UITableView is loaded - once with the actual region and then two more times with a region that is way off. In the simulator, I consistently get a region with center (+37.43997405, -97.03125000). On the device, it seems to depend on the location reported by the location manager, which initializes the map view. Why am I getting three regionDidChangeAnimated calls? And why are the center coordinates for the last two of them off?   • Printing python tkinter output

    I am trying to print the contents of a python tkinter canvas. I have tried using the postscript method of canvas to create a postscript file, but I get a blank page. I know this is because I have embedded widgets, and these do not get rendered by the postscript method. Before I rewrite my program to create a more printer-friendly layout, can someone suggest a way to approach this problem? All of the programming books I have ever read approach the problem of sending output to a printer with a bit of hand-waving, something along the lines of: "It's a difficult problem that depends on interacting with the operating system." I also have a hard time finding resources about this because of all the pages related to printing to the screen. I am using Python 2.6, on Ubuntu 9.04.

  • Can someone explain Kohana 3's routing system?

    In bootstrap.php, where you set routes, I'm having a hard time getting them to work. I read some documentation a while ago that I can't seem to find again that explains them. Here is one of my examples Route::set('products', 'products/(type)', array('type' => '.+')) ->defaults(array( 'controller' => 'articles', 'action' => 'view_product', 'page' => 'shock-absorbers', )); I thought that would mean a request like products/something would load up the articles controller, and the action_view_product method. But I can't get it to work. Can someone please explain to me exactly how they work, and what all the method parameters are?

Is there a way to avoid this? I think one way is to initialize the MEMBER_1 inside a method. Any other alternatives? Thanks!

At the moment everything is cool, except when a number becomes something like 0.000034e3344 after the to string conversion. Than the transform does not work. So I know that there is the Number.toFixed() method which actually solves the problem, but i ask myself how many trailing decimals make sense. So what is the highest value i can pass to the toFixed() method to get the most precise results? EDIT::: the exact number output was: 9.685539407532573e-20

    I'm trying to name a function that runs when a character is received by the object. For the caller, it should be named sendCharacter, so that it can call: object->sendCharacter( character ) ; That looks nice for the caller.. but for the receiver, it implements a method /// Called when this object is do something /// with a character /// from the caller void sendCharacter( char c ) ; So for the recipient class, it looks like this method will actually send a character out, not receive one. So then, I could call the function receiveCharacter /// Called when this object is do something /// with a character /// from the caller void receiveCharacter( char c ) ; But now the caller does this: object->receiveCharacter( character ) ; Which just looks odd. How can I better name this function?

  • Major inconsistencies in Zend Framework

    Okay first of all let me just say Zend Framework is the greatest tool I have ever used in 30+ years of programming (well, for web development, Qt wins the desktop market). However, through my use I have noticed some glaring and annoying inconsistencies. For instance, Zend_Form_Element's have a setAttrib() method. Now why the hell is this the only method in that API which is abbrev.? Why then am I using setRequired() instead of setReq()? I have more examples, I am extremely nerd raged about this. It is completely ruining what could have been God's gift to web development. FOR FUTURE REFERENCE NEVER ABBREV. THINGS WHEN MAKING AN API. also always filter data before storing it i m o Who do we talk to about this, where something will actually get done about it?

As I research Robotium works with a different Virtual Machine (Dalvik) so I cannot run as Junit Test (Only with Android Junit Test). For instance, in the service layer code sample there is a method public IEnumerable<Contact> ListContacts() { return _repository.ListContacts(); } If instead you wanted a IEnumerable, should it go in the service layer, or is there somewhere else that is the "correct" place? Perhaps more appropriately, if you have a separate viewmodel for each view associated with ContactController, should ContactManagerService have a separate method to return each viewmodel? If the service layer is not the proper place, where should viewmodel objects be initialized for use by the controller?

    Like the title states, does anyone out there have a clear way to implement this type of functionality? Example: If you go to http://weewar.com, in their front page you noticed an ajax module that updates every second. However, all of the new items are added to the top of the list. My question is around that very same functionality. Does anyone have an easy and clear idea as to how one would implement this functionality? So far I have a method that initially creates the list, then another method is called in an interval that pulls the most recent data from the server.. However, I'm stuck with, how can I add the new dynamic node to the top of the list. If you can guide me to where I can find this information or give me an idea as to how I can implement this I will be very happy and grateful :) Thanks in advanced.
