• DOS batch command to read some info from text file

  Hello All, I am trying to read some info from a text file by using windows command line, and save it to a variable just like "set info =1234" Below is the content of the txt file, actually I just need the revision number, and the location of it is always the same line 5, and from column 11 to 15. • Display user name in reference to user id in django template

  I expect this is an easy question. For some reason, I don't have a solution yet. I have an object set from django reversion: version_list. Each object in the set has a user id attached to it. How do I grab the user names that correspond to the user ID's? To try to be clearer, if each object in version_list has a name, date, and user id, how can I join the version_list set with the user table to figure out what user id goes with which name? This is done in the view, or the template?

• No method found compiler warning

  I have create a class from a string, check it is valid and then check if it responds to a particular method. If it does then I call the method. It all works fine, except I get an annoying compiler warning: "warning: no '-setCurrentID:' method found". Am I doing something wrong here? Is there anyway to tell the compiler all is ok and stop it reporting a warning?   Hi People who talk about loggers here never talke about EventLog, I think this is good for windows system. Is it reliable, or I found it dead in some bad morning? Why not logging everything at SQLServer, I am creating E-Commerce website, if SQL server down the website will be down anyway. but I am worry about temporally connection failure, what do u think? Why everyone like files, it can be in great size, too big to handle, or maybe I will create another file when a file is too big, and I can create a file with a date.   I have wrote an application that syncs two folders together. The problem with the program is that it stops responding whilst copying files. A quick search of stack-overflow told me I need to use something called a background worker. I have read a few pages on the net about this but find it really hard to understand as I'm pretty new to programming. • Google App Engine and Git best practices

  I'm developing a small pet project on Google App Engine and i would like to keep code under source control using github; this will allow a friend of mine to checkout and modify the sources. I just have a directory with all sources (call it PetProject) and Google App Engine development server points to that directory. Is it correct to create a repo directly from PetProject directory or is it preferable to create a second directory mirroring the develop PetProject directory? In the latter case, anytime my friend will release something new, i need to pull fetch from Git copying the modified files to the develop PetProject directory. If i decide to keep the repo inside the develop directory, skipping .git on Gae yaml is enough? What are the best practices here?

• Change UIImagePicker Navigation Bar style to blue

  All of my view has a blue navigation bar but when I want user to choose a photo, the UIImagePicker is black. I tried to set the navigation bar of UIImagePickerController to blue using UIBarStyleDefault but it does not work for me, the color is still black. I tried with other UIBarStyle like UIBarStyleBlack and UIBarStyleOpaque as well but it doesn't change the navigation bar of the picker anyway. Here is my code // Let the user choose a new photo. • Intersecting boundaries with lucene

  I'm using Lucene, and I'm trying to find a way to index and retrieve documents that have a ranged property. For example I have: Document 1: Price:[30 TO 50] Document 2: Price:[45 TO 60] Document 3: Price:[60 TO 70] And I would like to search for all the documents whose ranges intersect a specific interval, in the above example, if I search for Price in [55 TO 65] I should get Document 2 and Document 3 as results. I don't think NumericRangeQueries alone would do the trick, I need to work on the index with something similar to R-trees, but are they implemented in Lucene? Also, I suppose that what I need should be a subclass of MultiTermQuery, because the query Price in [55 TO 65] has two boundaries, but I don't see anything suitable among MultiTermQuery's subclasses. Any help is appreciated, thanks, Silvio P.S. I'm using Lucene 2.9.0, but I can update to the latest release if needed.

• VS2010 patce: why it's take so muce time to install it?

  Visual Studio 2010 RC has a few of patches release. For more information about them take a look here. What I'm expect from patch program, is to replace a few dll's of the program to a new fixed version of them. But when I run each of this 3 patches, they take a lot of time (5 minutes each), and you think that the program was frozen because the progress bar stay on the begging. This is question may not be so important, but it really interesting me to know, why this happens? It's really confusing to see that each VS2010 (or Microsoft in general) is frozen to 4-5 minutes.

  I have two models, authors and articles: class Author(models.Model): name = models.CharField('name', max_length=100) class Article(models.Model) title = models.CharField('title', max_length=100) pubdate = models.DateTimeField('publication date') authors = models.ManyToManyField(Author) Now I want to select all authors and annotate them with their respective article count. That's a piece of cake with Django's aggregates. Problem is, it should only count the articles that are already published. According to ticket 11305 in the Django ticket tracker, this is not yet possible. I tried to use the CountIf annotation mentioned in that ticket, but it doesn't quote the datetime string and doesn't make all the joins it would need. So, what's the best solution, other than writing custom SQL?

• ::LookupAccountSid API Extremely Slow When Targetting x64 Platform (Windows 7)

  During our application startup, we are making a call to ::LookupAccountSid(). When I build targetting the x86 architecture, this call is nearly instantaneous. However, when I target x64 (debug or release), the call generally takes over 40s to complete. Since this is occurring during application startup, the result is fairly unpleasant as it will appear to the user that the application is not launching. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a Dell Studio XPS 16 (Intel Core i7 Q 720). Our application is a native Windows application written in C++. • Reused UIWebView showing previous loaded content for a brief second on iPhone

  In one of my apps I reuse a webview. Each time the user enters a certain view on reload cached data to the webview using the method - (void)loadData:(NSData *)data MIMEType:(NSString *)MIMEType textEncodingName:(NSString *)encodingName baseURL:(NSURL *)baseURL and I wait for the callback call - (void) webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView. In the mean time I hide the webview and show a 'loading' label. Only when I receive webViewDidFinishLoad do I show the webview. Many times what happens is I see the previous data that was loaded to the webview for a brief second before the new data I loaded kicks in. I already added a delay of 0.2 seconds before showing the webview but it didn't help. Instead of solving this by adding more time to the delay does anyone know how to solve this issue or maybe clear old data from a webview without release and allocating it every time?

• Is there way to find when self signed certificate will expire for Adobe Air application?

  Hi, I have to release my Adobe Air application but the build process was "setup" by a different developer. (He made a self signed cert and wrote a batch file to call adt for packaging the application). Adobe mentions that such self signed certificates are valid for 5 years. Now I have no idea when that certificate will expire as I don't know when it was created. Also will my installed application stop working on expiry or only new installations will fail ? Thanks.

• Selecting fields in SQL Select statements (Dumbest SQL Question)

  Hello all, Here's a dumb question which I can't find an answer to: I have a table which contains 20 fields, a few of which are date/time. I am interested in pulling all the fields. I would like to pull the datetime fields using the to_char function but don't want to individually list out all the other fields. Is there an easy way to do this? I tried select *, tochar(dtfield) as dt2 and select tochar(dtfield) as dt2, * and both give errors. Thanks for all your help! JC

  I have created a widget for my Wordpress platform that displays the most popular posts of the week. However, there is an issue with it. It counts the most popular posts from Monday, not the past 7 days. For instance, this means that on Tuesday, it will only include posts from Tuesday and Monday. • use jquery autocomplete with carousel for preview and selection

  Hi, I've successfully used jquery autocomplete to display a list of matching images based on user input. The user experience isn't great though due to the number of potential matches - even with fairly prescriptive input. I've found this example at nokia http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/device-software-update (I know it's written in flash) which would provide the ideal interface for what I'm trying to achieve. Does anyone have any pointers for doing this using jquery autocomplete as a starting point? Or better still know of an existing javascript library that provides this functionality? I'm using the latest release of jquery if that matters. Thanks, Dave.

• PHP mySQL database check

  Hi guys, I am having endless troubles with duplicate entries, so I need to check the database, and if a user has already entered that day, their entry will not be submitted and they will be redirected to a landing page that tells them they have already entered that day, and that they may only enter again tomorrow. The field I would like to check is the id_number field in the database, since each user has a unique id number, so basically, if a user with the same id number submitted on the same date they should be redirected to a landing page, how would I go about doing this? I am still new to a lot of this, so please be forgiving. Thanx in advance.

• Caching view-port based Geo-queries

  I have a web app with a giant Google Map in it. As users pan and zoom around on the map, points are dynamically loaded through AJAX call which include the viewport bounds (NE and SW corner coordinates) and some other assorted parameters. How do I cache these request for points? The problem is that the parameters are highly variable and (worst) not discrete i.e. floats with a lots of decimal places. I'm using ASP.NET-MVC/C#/LINQ2SQL/SQL-Server but the problem is not tied to that platform.
